Quote:I'm confused.Actually, as many others here have already said, the regular contacts are the bed and Ouro is the couch, the place for a quickie nap. The regular contacts contain all the flavor and variety of missions that make this game what it is. Ouro is a place to go get that one mission (or arc) that eluded you before. Ouro is not the game. Ouro is only a tool.
I go to Oro and select an arc. It sends me to the contact. I do the missions in the world and talk to the contact. The arc has the same flavor and variety of missions that it would have through the contact because it is through the contact.
I absolutely agree that Oro is a tool. It is a tool that lets you access whatever arcs you want and removes the filler from the contacts. What is missing is talk to people missions and random missions that are not part of the arc.
Are you saying that you want to be sent to Perez Park to defeat 10 CoT as a random mission? Or be sent to talk to the Hero Corps Agent in KR just to chat? Is that the flavor that is missing? -
Quote:reported to vanguardGreat, now i'm imagining Snape as a street racer.
Or did you mean shapeshifting AT? If so it's about time they capitalized on lessons learned from making the Kheldian ATs.
i mean, i like Paragon City well enough, better than Praetoria or the Clockwork King dimension, but enough of my characters are from other worlds or dimensions that i'm no Primalist.

and the beauty of DfB is that other people can play the game their way and still make progress.

Quote:I solo. I also team. I did not post "if you only solo" which is what you seem to think I posted.Nice answer, Sam!
So, OP, what content are you using to PL? Also, if I am soloing, who is doing the PL'ing? Not me, I'm playing solo.
Sometimes your philosophical ponderings seem to start from very odd positions, such as this one.
For PLing, DfB or the task forces. DfB to 10, both Posi's, Synapse, Penelope Yin and Sutter will get you to 24. Maybe throw in a DiB.
Quote:That's like asking "If you live alone, why not sleep on the couch?" Why would I want to?
Running arcs through Oro is more convenient then running them not through Oro. Oro is the bed, regular contacts are the couch. -
it is reduced blaster downtime as well as fewer defeats because you can easily get back to full hit points between fights. Aracanaville already posted that most blaster defeats happen when they go into a fight below full hit points.
and every AT should function fine without needing a power pool except for travel. Needing to get aid self is a crutch. -
there are gas masks, many versions of them. Most in the science pack I believe. Also lots of goggle types

Quote:I'm not sure what level you have to be to start doing Oro missions - 24 I think (not sure if it changed to 14 at which level you can go to Oro)The problem with your question is that it presupposes folks are okay with PLing. I, for one, am not. I won't do it... period.
Were I able to do Ouro arcs without that pre-req? I probably would.
Many, many people get to 14 through DfB. Getting to 24 does not take long.
And my question does not presuppose anything except that you solo. That's why it is a question. -
I just started doing some arcs from Oro that were needed for accolades. They have the low level arcs in a cleaned up version - no being sent to Hollows to talk to a guy, no random missions that are not part of the arc.
For those interested in the story arcs, leveling to get to Oro and then just doing the arcs through there seems much better than trying to get the right contacts, sort through the garbage missions, etc.
Do people use Oro for their content or still do it the old fashioned way? -
we're in Seattle. The event did last all summer - July 4th - 13th

cool
I was just looking at accolades my lvl 50 has not earned and the rikti one is one I thought I wouldn't be able to get. I was literally thinking to myself this morning that it would be nice if they had a rikti invastion soon.
thanks devs -
looking at the pictures my take per piece
nail mohawk - I bet this gets a lot of use on brutes. Now people can make a trollslayer engineer.
tire shoulder pads - they look really good, but they look just like spiked tire shoulder pads. Someone will find a use for them, but they are not very generic. I would love a non-spiked version that you could use on robots as faux transformers
tire gloves - as shoulder pads
mask - a mask is great for men, if we get a clean version we can color
chest protector - I can see this being used for a lot of natural characters who want a slightly armored look. X-wing pilots maybe
toolbelt - I can see robot MM's using this and it being used by people who make secret ID outfits. Not a lot of uses for it though.
pants - really want a clean version without the wrap around one leg but with the kneepads. Again, a good look for natural characters with some armor. Skateboarders or motorcyclists, or mechanics.
golf bag - too big to be anything besides a golf bag. probably won't be used any more than the hiking pack is - which is very, very rarely -
Quote:so what your saying is that you can already make your characters look like superheroes and this upsets you for some reason?Look, man, again you vastly misunderstand what I'm trying to say. I'm trying so hard to not call you a pancake...oh, well, that worked.
Anyway. I don't want CLONES. I want more costume options in that vein, if we're getting new costume options on a regular basis. It's the idea, the theme. Buck Rodgers? Not for me. Mad Max? Are you serious? Cybertech or whatever might be good.
Otherwise, I'm a Silver/Golden Age guy. I want my heroes to look, talk, and act like PANCAKING SUPERHEROES.
it must be hard having what you want and being unable to deny others what they want. -
Samuel - the problem is that you then lump all hero accessible content as hero content
remove any content with magic, where you fight against corrupt police / longbow / vanguard, where people are killed.
I want 4 color tech content for my hero only. Nothing else counts.
I don't want to play iron age content.
I don't want to play magic content - my hero is tech.
They barely put out any heroic content in the past 4 years, heroic being defined as content that suits my hero. -
I bet you can make very good clones of Green Lantern and Superman and Captain Marvel and Nova with the existing costume pieces.
-
definitely want a clean version of the catcher's chest piece
a catcher's mask would be nice too
warrior's, come out and play -
the range extension affects just about all primaries equally and since it does not directly change damage does not change the numbers.
the snipe change seemed to make AR godlike, and left ice in the dust
but factoring in the crashless nuke changes - how do the primaries stack up (ignoring DP since that is getting its own changes and with those unknown it's impossible to say)
does Blizzard turn around Ice's fortunes?
does Thunderous Blast crashless and more often make electric blast sapping truly viable (-100% END recovery and -55% endurance) and being a ranged nuke raise electric's abilities? -
Quote:actually the self rez in presence is extra cool because it is not a self rezSo what? Plenty of characters get access to a self rez in their epic pools already and lots of vets have an inherent self rez. I doubt we'll see people lining up to take presence just for the self rez anyway.
it is a self buff and heal that will also rez you if you are defeated
the self rezzes in defense sets would be great if they changed so you could use them when you were not defeated.
Rise of the Phoenix as a pbaoe damage attack which disorients foes would be awesome if you did not have to be defeated to use it. -
The thing is that defense sets are already over powered in the end game. I don't see them trying to make them more powerful.
blast sets needed a boost -

Quote:actually they tend to have strong vigilante overtonesYou are missing the point by a mile. All of the co-op arcs have strongly heroic overtones. We would like just once, that heroes be required to do something villainous for the greater good, while we actually get to be truly evil.
heroes have to be villainous for the greater good -
you do get SO's at level 1 - just do DfB. Since the devs give out SO's in the most popular content for low level characters, it seems that extending that to all low level content would not be a problem.
and lose origins I assume means for enhancements. Just have SO's that work for everyone. Don't make you sell them in particular stores. It is just a bit of extra pain that adds very little.
I would not want origins to go away for other stuff. -
Quote:what is the approved method of indicating agreement with what has been posted?Hi everyone,
I think this is a good discussion, and it has a lot of potential. However, please avoid detracting from that potential by posting things like "signed", which only serve to lengthen the thread without improving content.
Thank you,
~Mod13
I believe that indicating that something is not merely one person's opinion but is shared by other posters is, in fact, valuable information that furthers the discussion.
I would hate to think that disagreeing is allowed and considered good but agreeing is considered a problem. -
the game industry is in bad shape because games cost more than ever to make, they are stolen more than ever, and people are not willing to pay much for them.
A very few games make a ton of money, most don't. To be a contender you have to spend 50 million or more on a game. If you don't make that back you are out of business.
It used to be that small groups of people could make a core game or an MMO (DOOM or Asheron's Call for instance). But they just cannot make the sort of huge, polished game that players demand now.
And games cost $60 20 years ago and they cost that now. Spending 10x as much money making a game that you sell for the same price is just not a viable business.
