I belong to Freedom TF and Freedom channels, primarily to get teams/leagues, TF's and the like going or for badges. One of these channels apparently has assigned me some sort of status to invite people to the channel since I got two tells yesterday from folks asking me to invite them to the channel. My understanding is that you just plain old "join" a channel, that you don't need some sort of special invitation from a member. But I could be wrong.
So that's my question. Do some channels require that you be invited by a member in some special standing? And if so, how do you make that invitation? I tried all kinds of right-click in various parts of the chat window, tabs, player handle, etc and never saw anything about "invite to channel" or the like. -
Wondering which is better to have, powers which have -Defense effects or -Damage Resistance effects? Assuming both are desirable yet only one can be selected, which would be most beneficial to myself (the wielder) and the team environment? I'm thinking -Damage Resistance but would welcome any discussion on the matter. Thanks!

Can somebody point me to a really good reference on all those new (as in, other than Alpha) incarnate abilities? Not finding a whole lot on the web (might not be searching correctly) that answers a few puzzlers I have:
1. I've run 2 different toons through the BAF and Lambda trials. Each have come up earning points in different categories (Judgement, Interface), neither earned points in more than one category, so was curious on just how you predict (if you can) which you will earn and if there is any way to "direct" which ones you're going to earn? Like if I'd rather earn Lore or Destiny, rather than Judgement or Interface.
2. I saw where I could cash in some threads for points in the categories. But I wanted one kind of points (Judgement, for example) and it gave me another instead. I saw no way of actually selecting one category over another. Is it just random?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bernie -
I need the first badge "Paragon of Vice" from Willy Wheeler for my Marshall accolade. But I only see the "sucker born every minute" one of his in Oroborous, and that only plants some bombs. Do I have to run through the entire Willy Wheeler arc to get that mission? Looks like it's the very first mission you get from Willy when you first meet him.

I hear that you can make pets do things, like say stuff and dance... that kind of thing. But I don't see in the list of commands for them, anthing like that. Anybody know how to do that?
-
Maybe I'm just missing it... but the latest issue says there are "new emotes". But doesn't say what they are. And I can't seem to find anything on it. Anybody out there know what they are?
-
Ok... Thanks Dawn. I'm going to take that as a "depends on the person using it" kind of response. Would you have any other suggestions?

Ok, got the respec done and went for a stroll through about 6 solo radio missions of varying diff levels. Must say, survivability is MUCH improved. Even when surrounded by a dozen carnies that were all out for a piece of me, dropping the ice patch and then just whittling them down one or two at a time (frost cone is deceptively effective) while the lightning field also leeches off the group's hit points while I'm zeroing in on a particular target. Yes, have to agree with dave_p that damage inflicted is not spectacular, like a dual blade or super strength tank would be - but in a team environment - if I keep the crowd of bad guys focused on me while I keep them flopping around on the ice patch and dealing damage - it allows my teammates to pick off whomever they choose.
And since I can recoup HP and energy when necessary (yes, a sufficiently large group or higher level group of villains can still kill me), I'm much more confident when taking on significantly larger groups than before.
So guess long story made short - it works! And I'm suitably impressed. Now to press on to getting up to lvl 50. Oh, btw - any thoughts on whether "Taunt" is really necessary? Seems like I haven't had to use it at all since as soon as I get close to any group - they automatically target me anyway. And if a teammate gets in trouble, I just wallop their attacker and get their attention. And how about an Epic power? Ice Mastery maybe? Or is it even going to make much of a difference? -
Oh, one other question... when you suggest Tough and Weave - how many slots are you recommending? 3 Defense each?
-
Ok, they all sound like good suggestions. I've got one respec from vet rewards, so I'll try redoing it using your suggestions. Combat Jumping was for mobility, but also for defense slots. But I see where Tough and Weave would probably be better choices. I'll respec today sometime and run a few quick missions to see how it goes. Think I'll drop that first "ice sword" (wish I could drop frozen fists) and move some of the slots around. I'll let you know how it goes. And honestly folks... THANKS for the advice. Even though I've been playing this game for over a year, I still feel like I just don't know enough about slotting and picking the right powers. Guess we all keep on learning.

Don't know if this is right, but here's what I get when I try to export it.

Ok, you all are talking above my head, with this "frankenslotting" and stuff. I did download that planner you mentioned. I've got all the powers on it, maybe not in exact order I picked, but slotting is correct. Had to delete one power I selected but didn't have (don't ask why - brain fart). Don't know how to put this somewhere for you to look at it though since I can't post attachments. Any suggestion?

I recently built an Electric/Ice Tank, figuring the Electric armour and Ice melee would be a good combination. I've got it up to lvl 35 now and am starting to regret it, however. I have the armor powers slotted with 4 Damage Resist enhancements (about 5 powers) and I'm still taking a lot of damage. Or at least a lot more than I would expect a tank to take. After all, it IS a tank and should be able to withstand a lot of damage.
So far the Ice melee has been relatively lackluster. Can do a fair amount of damage, although it's slow and tedious. Nothing really awe-inspiring like "stomp" for superstrength or other tank builds. Nothing really there for doing large groups of foes. Sure I can make them slip and fall, but it does no damage. Maybe once I get Frozen Aura that will change.
And finally, what's with the endurance drain? I've 4 slotted my Stamina with 4 end enhancers and I'm still running out of endurance pretty fast. Dropped at least one end reduction enh on most of the melee and armor powers, still sucks. The Power Sink is ok, but I have to use it over and over in groups, even small ones (or so it seems at this time).
So did I make a cosmic blunder in this build? Or does anyone have a similar build that can advise me on how best to slot this puppy to be the tank I feel it deserves to be. Any suggestions are welcome. -
Was hoping somebody out there had some advice on how to best acquire the Volcanic and Venomous badges. I have only found the Magmite Lords in The Hollows, and let me tell you - they're few and far between. In the hours I've spent there, scouring the area where these guys are supposed to hang out, I've only gotten 10 so far. So if there's a better place to find them - or even some missions I could run to spawn them, I'm open for suggestions.
Same situation with Venomous badge - toxic tarantulas. I noticed I had about a dozen after I reached lvl 50 with my scrapper, but I don't remember where or how I ran into them. The only thing I've found online about them is that they can occasionally be found in RWZ. Also told they might be found in Recluse's Victory - but all I find in there are Fire tarantulas and such - no toxic tarantulas.
So if anybody has suggestions on where to find them or missions (oroborous, I'm assuming?) that could spawn them - I'll welcome any advice.
Thanks! -
Well, guess I need to do the old "forehead slap" and give a "DOH!". I'm still learning, as I'm sure you can tell. I'll go give that a try. And THANKS!

If I've already done the Oroborous initiation with Pilgrim, is there a way of going back to it?
-
I've been working on my badges and have yet to figure out how to get the badge for eliminating Contaminated. My search of this site seems to indicate that you can ONLY meet these guys in the first opening missions of character creation. I find that hard to believe, since there's a badge for it - but you never know.
Anybody know of a way I can find some Contaminated to earn that badge? I looked in Oroborous but none of those looked like what I wanted. But I could have missed something. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have a set of Obliteration on one of my character's main powers. I have recently got drops of a couple duplicates that I could use on a second power my character has. But a guy I team with says I can't do that - that it doesn't give me the second bonuses if I use the same kind of set on two different powers. Is this true? I hadn't heard of that.

I've been playing this game quite a while and have yet to discover what renews health and which renews endurance. In the recipes for sets, it talks about them both but I am not sure which is which. They sound so similar - Regeneration and Recovery. I feel like I should just know it but wanted someone more intelligent than I (which in this case could be most of the players) to define it. Does Regeneration = Hit Points and Recovery = Endurance? OR is it vice versa?
