That's an awesome idea, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. it follows suit with customization as much as we already have, but that's opening up more and more mechanics to the user interface, which im sure isn't high up on dev priority. but if they're still making emotes, and if they plan on getting old npc costumes into the editor, then they can throw some already-made animations in as emotes while they're at it :P
-
Think about how when you went into the Underground for the first time, and saw your first spawn of Ghouls, shaking their fists and convulsing like crazed drug addicts, looking oh-so-pissed off at everything. Remember that? That needs to be an emote or two. Like how we have /e growl and /e roar. Except those pale in comparison to this. Think of how that would look on a Huge character model. Bad-***, right?
That and the animation for their defeats. Who wouldn't want to throw a tantrum on the floor?
Please? :D -
Damnit and I was just about to get my saturday ticket. Oh well I guess I'll have to stand in line with the dregs.
IMPORTANT: Does this mean they won't be selling CoX merch??!?! I NEEED MY BUTTONNNSSS among other things. -
Quote:This. I love fanservice. Thank you Devs!Over 9000.. wonderful DBZ reference..
but the type 40 being a reference to the doctor's tardis I thought was alot more interesting.
not to mention the TELLURIAN PLAGUE OUTBREAK reference to Macross that took out the Foxbats squadron that I took particular laughs from..
Considering Foxbat is also the name of one of the signature heroes from Champions Online.
Either intentional or not.. well played devs. Well played indeed.

You have hunger pains from the infestation devouring your intestinal lining and making transdimensional interfaces into visual companions while enjoying pickles soaked in prune extract overnight betwixt thousands upon thousands of gleaming spectacles vomiting extremely vile copious bile onto unsuspecting sentient cockroaches, which oddly feels like a hot roast beef/salmon entering a very cavernous mouth, and stimulates frenzied ferrets in perpetual, harmonized, synchronized, and, ironically, disproportionate proportions of reefer and cheese mixed with stuffed olives -- you, idiot who was eating itself while dancing with wolves wearing orange see-thru sarongs covered in artificial chocolate cockroaches squished between monogamous pigeons mating atop mountains copiously covered specimens astride axiomatic hirsuite diseased cockroaches, stop, collaborate without discussing ramifications of stopping cockroaches incubating under ample cockroaches with cockroaches and bigger cockroaches -- also meaner bug bites itching oozing bloody infectious pustules

Quote:I had this same exact problem Redside on 4/20. Server hampster must have been celebrating that night. When I logged onto Test and ran a mission, it seemed like Every Single Interaction with something triggered a Mapserver. Flying for just long enough to change the scenery and Mapserver, click on the door to the Mission and Mapserver, target enemy and Mapserver, fire once, fire twice, Mapserver. I completed the mission, but it was Hideous and the only reason I didn't die was that I was running it at -1 level.
Logged onto server 2, created a new character because I wanted to try something simpler, and... Hmm, still Mapservering regularly, but about half as often. I ran the tutorial and 2 more levels, before I decided to go back to the regular game and meet up with my play-group.
In response to this experience, initially, I ran Netgraph and sure enough, there were long pauses of Red, as well as occasional spikes of yellow. I'm running on FIOS, with 10-20 M/sec capability, so I don't think the issue was 'pipe'. It's possible that my poor old computer's CPU simply can't keep up - adjusting the video settings on my N-8800 didn't seem to have much impact on the Mapservering issue, nor on framerate (though I certainly didn't push the limits). I'm conscious that my CPU is a limiter on this system, but I don't have Mapserver problems on Live.
I'll make a point to try again, another day.
Be Well!

Oh yes thanks, so very helpful. Didn't occur to you that the command is totally unsupported and was thrown in as a really under-the-table kinda deal? That I thought it might not be in the official /cmdlist? And that someone else already pointed me to the answer with the first reply to this thread? Good job!

Ok so this deserves a new post. Although je_saist mentioned Nvidia's OpenGL 3.3 preview driver a couple times, she never mentioned just how awesome it is. Yesterday I was using the 196.xx driver. After googleing i found Nvidia's page, I'm not sure how easy it is to find if you don't know about it beforehand.
Anyway for posterity's sake here's the page with the info on the driver (and the linkies for DL) that adds OpenGL4.0 to Fermi-based cards and OpenGL3.3 to everything else (G80 tech and up). CLICK ME NAO
Back on the topic of performance, I just installed this new driver and noticed a REDICULOUS gain in performance. I was able to bump everything but AO to max ultra settings (over my compromises before, which left me at a little better than Ultra basics) for a solid 30 FPS with the camera centered on the horizon, with nary a dip here and there on crowded scenes. Tip the camera down or up a little and it goes up to around 45.
Not only all this, but CoX has finally stopped eating 100% of my cpu. It's hovering between 70-85%. Which means the annoying stutter in my movement I was experiencing on both clients has gone away completely.
And now I am finally satisfied with i17. Nao gimmeh da GR. I want Kinetic Melee! -
Quote:je_saist mentioned this little thing at the end, mentioning her triple-sli config being able to run ultra settings at a nice res with a "playable" framerate. It seems like she might not have been able to crank it up and achieve that "high" of FPS on her system had she not used the kludge. So if you had, say two 275's, i'm sure there would be a noticeable improvement.Has anyone tested how much of a difference the -slifbos 2 command actually makes? I'm wondering if I should use it when i17 comes out. Qualitatively I couldn't see much difference.
Tex linked to it in his reply to my post.

I am curious though, since I have a rather unique GPU. An EVGA 275/250 Co-op card (newegg.com), to be exact. I figured that this switch would somehow allow me to get in the same boat as two-card sli'ers, but I have my doubts. At the moment I've got the 250 running PhysX, so I'm thinking if I stop that they might work in tandem on GFX processing.
Edit: I just turned PhysX GPU acceleration off and i got about 6 extra FPS. At how low it is already thats a definate improvement. Now if only I could figure out why CoX has been eating 100% cpu cycles ... -
Ah! I am sorry, Texas Justice! I had skimmed je_saist's post earlier and had stopped scrolling down once I made the incorrect determination that it was simply a performance display on capable hardware for Ultra. Thank you for pointing me back in the right direction.

Quote:Special Nvidia driver gives you moar FPS for Ultra Mode!Originally Posted by archaeum (original post kept for posterity)whispers of sli...are abound in the nooks and crannies of the fora. but no one ever says its true name! what is this supposed "unsupported sli" command line switch called?
Ripped from my post below, here is my Nvidia driver "discovery", as it would be nice to have in an easy to see place.

Yeah I left it on through the night because even at the 10KBps it was gonna be done before I got up 7 hours later lol. But who knows if it jumped back up to normal. All i know is OMG SHINYYYY

Seems a tad excessive though for simple throttling, don't you think? Then again I suppose if that tiny bit of bandwidth has to be shared by all of us...
-
Yes I searched the first couple pages.
Maybe it's just because of congestion, but I'm having a serious problem trying to download this Open Beta i17 patch. Day it released I was able to get a decent speed of ~130KBps, but after a while this connection dropped to <10KBps. Figuring this was a simple connection glitch I closed the updater, waited a couple minutes and started it again.
Result? Connecting #1 for, oh, 15 minutes maybe...then took another 5 minutes to get to downloading at the same slow speed. Left it on for an hour even to see if it'd come back. That was yesterday. Same thing happens today, and I got to about halfway done, when it started happening again. Comp restarts don't work. DNS flushing/registering doesn't work. So I am left to assume it is congestion, no? I mean I'm sure it's deeeaaaaaamnnn popular and it being around prime time, definately explains it.
What I don't get is why, on my first long connection with that decent speed which starts before the evening, would I be bumped down to such a low tier later on? I never saw anything about a queue some people mentioned in past posts. I feel weird complaining about it like this, but it's just bugging me. Do I need a slap in the face, or something? I'd just like a little bit of info if I can get it.
I want to see the shinies too! -
what about spines/elec armor on metal spines? what a theme! sounds like a plan to me. ooh the visuals of that...this is gonna rock.
-
So I don't get why you didn't give Fire Shield ANY slots?? I mean WTF you don't have to settle for 19% res, I 5-slotted it and it saves my [censored]. i don't remember the specifics, but its something like 36% resistance s/m plus all the bonuses from sets...whyyy? It seems silly to take Fireshield and not slot it.

JAY IS LAZY!
So I go off to the little gurls room, and when I returned back to my office someone had hijacked my chair.
I know I'm not crazy, or at least not entirely so, but this was really weird.
I go into the break room/game room, and there is Jay playing a video game, SITTING ON MY CHAIR!
"Oh" he says, "I thought you went home."
So what if I did?

Technically, Ex Libris is not a Dev, but is instead a Community Co-ordinator.
Which means she is essentially the corporate version of a Kindergarden teacher.

Oh I know, I'm just too lazy to clarify, and use the blanket term "dev" for everyone at NCNC now ;P -

Nevermind. Just make sure someone puts Peg's Fire^3 Guide on the OP. It's on the previous page from this page.
