Quote:Nail meet head.
People are only brazen in their attacks because they believe that there are no consequences for doing so. Anonymity is only partly to blame here. The other half of the blamesicle is pure frozen failure to act on the part of our mods. I know I have been attacked through reputation several times. Twice in this very thread. So far anyway. And this thread is full of accounts from users who have had flagrant violations of the terms of service leveled against them. Yet none of these violators has ever been punished, as far as I can tell. And that, more than anonymity by far, is the real source of these sorts of comments. By refusing to punish them, as the EULA promises, the mods are in essence, giving the attacks their blessings. And they will continue under the current botching of the system.
Hell, I should have been banned like a year ago! -

Quote:It's not all people, just those very vocal few who complain that it's not fair that they can't see their compliments because some people were abusing the anonymous aspect of the system and violating the forum rules.
I'm pissed that I can't see my COMPLAINTS. So what does that make me then? -
I've never had a problem either. Hmmm.....

Quote:Oh and for the record, if you're really that concerned about your name, I recommend the company issue "The Original" as an optional title to each of your characters. That way, you can be known as "The Original [insert Japanese-kitten-misspelled-hyphen-whatever here]."
Like The Original Meat Cube Magician????? -

Now, if a NegRep comment were offensive, it is just as much harder to get it reported as it is more difficult to find. (Sorry, the grammar on that last sentence is pretty bad.)
Well to be fair Pork, if it's that hard to find, then you'll never find it to be offended! And if you find it and are offended, you're in the perfect place now to report it.
I still want my comments back though. -
K, this is totally not what I thought the thread would be about when I entered it.

Quote:Yeah but who'd want to play a drunk named Organica?
(So... that name's no longer free on Virtue... but it's free on Pinnacle now....) -
That's exactly what I was saying earlier.

Quote:You mean stuff like:
"I wish you would die"
"Stop posting forever"
"Air is wasted on you"
"I feel bad for your husband, because your such a *****"
"hurry up and die"
"Stop playing City of Heroes"
"i hate you"
"dumb *****"
"stupid **** *****"
And see, when I get these kinds of comments... I find them to be HILARIOUS. Especially when they feel bad for my husband. -
I love it when people think they speak for the majority so authoritatively.

Also, stay away from my girlfriend!
Depending on where you live, you might actually BE married by now. -

It looks to me like with Ninja Running, and Fitness pool there is finally a "natural" travel power available for those that want that for RP purposes!

I could explain EXACTLY why you and your friends are having such "problems" with the search tool, Neo, but I honestly don't have the patience.
To sum it up shortly:
The team search window is working properly, you're just not using it right. -

I really doubt that the majority of people desperately want names to be non-unique just so they can be less creative and make a bunch of duplicates of boring names. I really doubt that the majority of people are so unhappy with the name selection that they'd put up with a clumsy, more complicated, and less visually attractive system in exchange for the ability to be lazy with names. -

Of course, had I been thinking more clearly, I would have realized that she has shown a preference to love things that were terrible.
I also like anchovies. -
I've been collecting my rep comments and posting them in a thread in forum games. But ever since this change, it's too much work to do.
However I HAVE noticed an interesting phenomenon. Ever since the new boards, I've been slowly gaining more and more rep even though I would get just about as many negative marks as positive. But the positive motion still kept going no matter what.
Now, with rep comments not easily visible, and without me being able to post those comments on the boards... it appears that my rep score is slowly going down the last few days.
It appears that people are negging me now that would NOT have negged me before, possibly because the comments cannot easily be seen and possibly because I'm not bothering to go through all my posts to collect and post the neg comments.
I find this fascinating that with even greater anonymity comes even greater negative behavior. Has anyone else seen this pattern, or is it just me? -
Quote:The only open world PvP idea I'll support would be a dedicated PvP server. The PvPers could then go there to pound the snot out of each other while the rest of us play the game in peace and quiet.
I fully agree to this. In fact, I propose the following: Merge the US and EU server lists. Then use the least used EU server AS the new PvP server, automatically transferring all characters on the server to the other English server. From what I keep hearing from Euro players whining there is one server that is almost completely dead at all times. I can't remember the name of it, but I know that they keep whining about how dead it is, so I'm sure they won't miss it if it's gone and they have access to all the US servers. -
WoWs success is because of Blizzard's track record with games. They already made the popular Warcraft, Diablo, and Starcraft series.
At the point that WoW came out, Blizzard could do no wrong. It was that simple.
And once the game came out and those that signed up because of the Blizzard name alone realized the game wasn't total crap, they told all their friends to join, and their friends told their friends. Thus WoW became the 800 lb gorilla in the room.
It STARTED with Blizzard fanbois, who started the snowball. Then once the game was proven to be adequate instead of crap, the snowball just kept getting bigger and bigger.
CoH on the otherhand came from a nobody company. It current subscriber base of over 100K members is a testament to how GOOD this game really is. The constant updates help too. -
