Cold has a lot of tricks, so skipping the shields isn't as detrimental as a Force Fielder or Sonic Resonator without shields.
I still wouldn't recommend it, though. -

+Recharge? Double Check.
I just frankenslotted what was cheap at the time. Although, I did invest in a couple Thunderstrikes for the +Acc bonus. -
Don't skip Grounded. You need every bit of Negative resistance you can get.

PB can affect pets, but most of the Traps pets are set to ignore caster buffs. Only WebNade and Caltrops will be affected by PB.
