Plant/Kin advice
Personally I'd go for ranged defence.
You've got an AoE immob so most of the mobs can be kept at range.
As a kin you can play on the edge of melee and still get the buffs; you might get hit by one or two melee attacks if you get too close but the ranged def will negate the rest of the mob.

I just frankenslotted what was cheap at the time. Although, I did invest in a couple Thunderstrikes for the +Acc bonus.
my plant/kin (johnnie davie) uses posi blast in roots and fire blast. i rarely used any purps seeing that it was effective enough without them (just 2 soulbound allegiance for plant - one was +chance buildup) i dont think i have a mids build on me for it but pretty much same as boring old fire/kin just a few modifications for spirit tree/seeds. (use sets that give good globals)
-pretty much treated roots as aoe blast like fire ball (went fire for mastery..def good for +aoe)

As for going for ranged defense, its too hard to softcap and dare I say impossible with my power choices. So, I opted for the more available s/l defense. Just need to squeeze out more from set bonus's...somewhere.
Exactly the problem I had building this. Kin handles all the usual desires.

Ranged defence will help with all damage types including Psi and don't forget Sappers.
Your choice though, I'm sure it will be fun whatever you choose to do.

What set bonus's should I be going for? I like to build em with a budget in mind, and posi's are expensive as hell blue side so yeah Ide be down for alternate slotting. I started to build it with defense in mind, but got stuck. I figured I needed s/l or melee defense since I am in/just outside of melee range constantly. Here is what I have so far:
So yeah any advice on slotting/direction of set bonus's is much appreciated.
