Quote:I know that, my question was directed towards getting a redname answer on whether or not those people who bought a retail copy get something in return. Like a few points or something. I bought CoH ages ago, no special edition, just the regular version. I want to know if that's worth something extra in Freedom. If you bought any of the retail packs you keep everything in the retail pack. The devs have already said that. Several times.
Quote:What has never been purchased expressly is any AT or Power Set. None of the expansions have explicitly stated that they unlocked any such. So they are free to restrict some of those to being unlocked.
But I'm not interested in that argument anyway, I'll be a vet who can unlock the ATs through that system.
Quote:Because you have clearly been a player for more than a month or two you will get some Paragon Reward Tokens. Zwilliger in this very thread has stated that you can spend some of those tokens to unlock AT's. So if you have a specific AT you want to unlock you can do so without spending extra money.
It is somewhere in that massive thread up in the announcement forum. And now I'm not going back through 2000+ posts looking for it. If you don't take my word for it that is fine, but it was mentioned that huge thread. ::shrug:: -
Quote:You've completely misunderstood the post.As to bolded I don't agree. If it's the same reward as being a VIP, (read: PAYING) then what the hell is the difference between being a VIP and a Premium person? If a VIP account and premium account are the same, why not everyone quit being a VIP and become a premium . . . I mean, they would be the same benefit right?
VIPs get everything they get now.
Premium members get lots of restrictions.
This is fine.
I just want to know if those of us who bought the game box, the retail package get a reward. No matter whether they're premium or VIP.
Understand? I'm not asking for Premium players to get the same advantages as a VIP. I'm referring to this one point about retail packs. -
Quote:That's not it at all.Yes they are fools for thinking that if they don't pay a subscription fee every month they will have access to the same things that they had before.
They are basically whining that they aren't going to be paying the monthly subscription but for some reason magically deserve everything that a paying customer has access to.
Oh and if they are continuing to pay their subscription fee than they have access to everything they had before and more. I'm not seeing the problem here aside from people greedily wanting it all for free.
Those of us who are going to go Premium (unless I get this job I just interviewed for) want to know what we're getting to keep. That's all.
Some of us think we should get some sort of 'reward' from the fact we bought the retail packs. VIPs would get the same reward.
Some of us believe we bought certain things with certain retail purchases.
It's not whining, it's a worry that we'll have to, overall, pay twice for certain things.
We know certain things are restricted, we know we're getting something for paying nothing, we'd just like to know what we're getting for the something we have paid.
Quote:From what I can see if your subscription ends before July 1 you will not not get the 400 a month bonus for july and each month until release.
You will get some unknown bonus Paragon Points for buying COH and any other expansions you may have purchased. That is fairly clear from things said by red names that they are going to do something like what LOTRO did where expansions and time subscribed etc give you extra Points to spend in the store at conversion.
You will only lose the 400/month for july onward.
It also looks like they will be awarding a number of Paragon Reward Tokens based on your number of months subscribed. So if you are a 12 month vet whose subscription runs out here in June then after the conversion you will likely have a minimum of 12 Paragon Reward Tokens you can spend even if you don't resubscribe. Though that will happen when I21 goes live. -
Quote:Yes I got that.VIP's get both Paragon Reward Tokens and Paragon Points.
Each month a VIP gets 400 Paragon Points added to their account.
Each month a VIP gets 1 or more Paragon Reward tokens that can be spend on what was Veteran rewards but will now be called Paragon Rewards.
So it is two different things.
My question was referring to Premium members, not VIPs. Should have made that clearer. -
Me too.
Edit:
Oh, we keep these slots if we lapse to Premium too, right?

Quote:If the button to sub is actually called that, I will mash it many times. Not that this thread is about the unlockable AT's
...buuuuuut...
As things currently stand there's the following scenarios:- Bob the COH Player played COH for 3 years. He decides to come back as a premium player. Bob has X Number of Paragon Reward Tokens to spend, one of which can be spent on unlocking the MM AT, which will be unlocked always and forever after.
- Bob the COH Player played COH for 3 months. Bob made a MM during that 3 months. Bob's MM is locked for play and cannot be selected as one of his characters to use a Global Character Slot Token on.
- Bob is a new or returning player who wants to play a Mastermind. Bob decides to come back as a VIP subscriber, stays a VIP subscriber for X Months, during which time Bob earns enough Paragon Reward Tokens to unlock the MM AT. Bob then lets his VIP lapse and he goes back to Premium. Bob, much like 3 year vet before Freedom Bob, will have access to the MM AT now and forever.
- Bob the COH Player played for 3 months, realizes he cannot play the MM that he made during that 3 months and decides to purchase a MM license from the Paragon Market. Bob can play the MM AT to his heart's content always and forever.
- Bob decides that there is so much awesomeness offered by the VIP subscription that his head explodes in an orgy of awesome as he mashes the "VIP SUB PLZ!" repeatedly, thus rendering all of the alterna-Bobs moot.
I personally find that option five is the most likely.
Have you guys decided which vet reward unlocks those ATs yet, if there's going to be one? Also, will players who lapse before 1st July get any reward points for anything they've bought in the past at all? I'm guessing no, but I might as well ask.
Edit: Think I saw the answer. We get Paragon Reward Tokens right? Not Paragon Points. Tokens.
And those are basically a gift to vets, yeah? -
Quote:Me too. Those are the four slots I'd like to be able to add to the ones Second Measure and others have said we'd be getting.
Those four slots were the main reason I bought CoV (the later GvE was for the completionist in me as well as the month of game time) as well as the free month of game time. Villains still don't interest me.
Since the additional slots were one of the selling points of CoV, and they've said we would keep anything we had purchased, I'd like to see those 4 added as well.
Pretty much word for word.
Or, if not those slots, some sort of bonus, like some free points or something for buying the retail versions would be nice.
I'm not going to whine if it doesn't happen, but I'll feel a little, just a little, let down by Paragon. -
Simple question here, I'm assuming an answer but would like a confirmation.
VIP goes Premium
Chooses 10 characters to play with as a Premium player
Goes back to VIP
Reverts to Premium again
Will the 10 characters the player chose the first time they went to Premium from VIP still be unlocked, or will they be locked again, allowing the player to repick which characters to unlock? -
-
Quote:Was mentioned that VIPs will have exclusive access to certain things.Uhh... what won't you be able to buy access to (outside of the VIP server)?
It seems like access to just about everything will be for sale a la carte from what we've seen so far. Have you seen anything saying what won't be for sale?
Emphasis mine. -
Quote:I want to pay a large, one-off fee to not pay any future subscriptions. I'd rather not have to budget for the sub every month/few months and instead feel good knowing that I've already paid for it.You completely missed the point I was making to Yellowbeard.
Let me pose the question another way:
What players wanting a life-time-subscription asking for?- Is it to play the game without charge?
- Or is it to get all the bonus's of playing the game without charge?
Depending on your vet status you "probably" aren't loosing anything that you've already gained in game.
And if anything you may be able to save some cash just buying new staff out of Paragon Points.
Now, if a person is looking to get all of the bonus's for having a subscription without paying the costs of a subscription... now we are back to why Life-time Subscription are a BAD FINANCIAL IDEA.
An idea that has been shot down by anybody who has participated in Economics 001. Not necessarily graduated mind you... but participated.
I would even go without the 400 Paragon points per month and just buy things from the store as one-offs.
Now, I'll settle for a Premium account if I can buy access to everything VIPs have, apart from the server which I'm not bothered about, from the store. I know that isn't the case and I know why it's not the case, it's just how I feel.
I can, however, cope without getting my own way. -

I honestly don't think it will be CoH 2.
"Hey guys, we've been doing this supers mmo for years, now we've got a new reveal! Another supers mmo!"
I personally hope for something original. Either a new IP or something based on an already existing IP, like an MMO set in the Dresden Files world, or something like that.
Modern fantasy/horror stuff. Only problem with the horror angle would be that The Secret World is nearly out.
So I'd go for modern fantasy.

Quote:This is where doing story arcs solo comes in handy.Sounds all good, untill you realize MOST of the time, it isn't YOU beating up Recluse's lackeys, Recluse himself, or the big name Heroes.
It's you and a team of others doing it.
So it's not so much, "Ha! I'm strong!" as it is "Ha! You can't take us on 8 to 1!" ;p
My level 50 villain feels uber to me after all he's done on his own. -
I typed in the first EU one I saw, which was backwards and upside down. I have no problem reading that way, which I guess is an advantage in these things.
I had two browser windows open; one had the CoH Facebook page open and on auto refresh in Opera, and one auto refreshing the redeem code page. Soon as I saw it was up I clicked the link, typed in the first thing I saw and got it.
So, apologies to those who didn't get one, but I've missed out on plenty of these things before, I was damn sure not gonna miss out on this one. -
Quote:I can't agree with that, it simply states that you should turn up in an animal costume and if you do you might get an animal pack.No;
"Come dressed in your wildest fit-for-the-jungle/safari-fabulous outfit. And who knows, you may leave with an Animal Pack code on the spot!"
That would say the two are seperate. There is no indication that the two are seperate things. Thats basic English Language fail.
Incidentally, the Facebook ones went up, grabbed one, awesome. -
See, I can see why people thought it was a costume competition, I did, but it doesn't actually say it.
"Come dressed in your wildest fit-for-the-jungle / safari-fabulous outfit and who knows, you may leave with an Animal Pack code on the spot!"
It just says turn up in an jungle/safari costume and you might get an Animal Pack code. -
If you look at it from the perspective of someone who knows it's a giveaway and not a contest, it doesn't read like it'll be misunderstood. I thought it was a contest too at first, but looking back on it now, I see that I just assumed that.

Quote:No problem.Okay. I'll keep refreshing Facebook and hope for the best, then. I'll still have time to make it to the party on Freedom even if I don't get a code this way.
Thank you.
Good luck!
The party giveaways aren't costume competitions by the way, they're given at random. -
Quote:They probably mean Twitter. The last thing on the wall that I can see is the bit about Gamestop having a sale on GR:CC, but people are saying it's already up on Facebook and they've gotten the codes.
I guess I'll just hope to be lucky in Pocket D.
The last thing posted is that Gamestop thing. -

I have no idea whether you need an account or not, but I did log out of my account and I could see the post on Twitter just fine.
You might need a Facebook account to see that one, but I don't 'think' you'll need to 'like' the page to see it when it comes.
I'm not an expert on this though.
Nothing has been posted on Facebook, I'm sitting here refreshing the page and there's no post about the giveaway there. -
Quote:http://www.facebook.com/CityofHeroes?ref=tsAAAAAiiiiiiieeeeeeee. where is it. the facebook one. I WILL be there for the Pocket D one regardless but... where... is... the.... facebook one. Did I miss something?!
