  1. ...okay, it wasn't boredom, I needed a pick-me-up from another piece of art (for a D&D game, not Cities) that ended up very pretty...and very -not- what it was supposed to be, and therefore bummed me out...

So...I did this hasty sketch of Kirochka just for fun.
  2. She looks great, Bradders!

(*hides from the tutorials while wishing luck*)
  3. Very nice work! I love "Serene" on the deviantart page the best, but they're all absolutely beautiful.
  4. I've drawn since I was old enough to hold a pencil, although my style's changed somewhat.

Originally, most of what I drew was horses, but in high school I moved to figures/portraits (still in a photorealistic style). Believe it or not (and don't laugh if you do) my AP General concentration was rock musicians. They made great subjects. *misses the 80s* In college I started attempting to learn how to use colored pencils effectively, while drawing my various characters from the RPGs my dormmates so lovingly sucked me in to. My GPA never recovered, but that's another story.

I pretty much quit drawing completely for several years, and just started again a month or so ago. It's true, it's like riding a bicycle....if only everything hadn't gone digital and out-paced me.

I still find photorealism easier than comic-style, and I still loathe any media beyond pencils, colored pencils, or pens. I might have award-winning acrylics on the walls, but I wouldn't touch a paintbrush again to save my life.

    *stops rambling now*
  5. *points out little pigtailed face between Comrade Hero and Digsite, just above Blitzkrieg Bop*

*points to pigtailed tank in signature*

Looks like she gets her original outfit in this, which is pretty neat.
  6. There's a nearly-sadistic level of joy here, too, in going through everyone's posts and trying to identify characters by screenshots. It's like "Where's Waldo".

*isn't very good at this identification thing, but can get 50% or so*
  7. Wheee! *spies pigtails in the second row*

    That is just...so....cool.

okay got a really rough sketch, I'll be filling in the spots, and hopefully it'll make sense! Buahahahahha!

    Hee hee! That's awesome!

*guesses it's the poor artist being chased by heroes wanting pictures*

This is a great piece! I really like the combinations of reds & orange blends. As I've said before, the level of detail work you put in is pretty amazing, and you manage a great palette of colors with the pencils.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks! I can't take too much credit for the colors, though, as they were Tephra's colors already. *shunts color compliments off on Ravenbane!*

The line work on this one kind of reminds me of Erol Otis' work - the slight angularity of her face and hair, I think. I hope you don't mind comparasons like this...I intend it in a positive way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Definitely not! Every comparison just gives me a new artist to google and enjoy.

well done sun! that came out great...definately liking your style.

...and are you usin colored pencils? looks that way...and if so double "well done" for you (its like a gold star but better!) ~

    [/ QUOTE ]

*nods* A piecemeal mostly-bogarted-from-highschool-art-class set of regular Prismacolors, a complete set of Prismacolor Verithins (which don't blend for jack, but are better for detail), and Uni-ball Micro/Pilot Precise V roller ball ink pens. Broke artists don't get the fancy stuff.

    Thanks for the double well-done.

Lineart of Tephra Fire, for Ravenbane.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...and finally, Tephra Fire in color.

    *collapses*

(I took a bit of artistic license with the highlights on her hair, but hey, it went with the rest of the colors.)
  13. Hm...I'm game!

(Almost) all of the girls are in the sig, but Vixen Valor, Sweet Cyanide or Ruby Fusion would be my top choices (in order, but Ruby has a full array of reference screenshots, and the others might not be good enough.)
  14. ((Note to self: Add color. That's not ice, that's the stone mallet, albeit upside down. She's a fire/stone tank.

..and thanks for all the compliments on the pose, but I swear I just googled for stripper poles... *ducks and runs*))

A few Guildhelper Guild Portraits..in progress..
for those of you who like to see WIP..
layout has yet to be chosen..
    which one would you pick?
    The following are by Illidan..

    Dooom Supremacy guild portrait

    twilight crusaders guild porrtraits

GuildPortraits by GNF are coing up shortly as well..stay tuned

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like the second layout for the first one, and the first layout for the second one. (boy, that sounded bizarre)

For Dooom Supremacy, the first layout's "flow" seems kinda stifled, with the side-to-side... almost like there's a figure missing somewhere. The second layout seems smoother.

For Twilight Crusaders, the first stands out more, seems less cluttered/squeezed in.

    wip : nitecrow~

Love the pose and the wings - it's like she's stalking whatever's behind the camera, to finish it off. It's pretty good, and from the elbows up it looks great. Forearms are a bit short (and thin? Just a guess, there, not knowing the character) and the hips and legs are a tad narrow for the upper body. You've got more of a masculine inverted triangle frame, there.

All in all, though, very sweet.

    Getting Close!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Wow.

    Just, wow.
  18. Very nice! I love the eyes in the background.
  19. Nice and smooth and clean. I like it. One little quibble, though - the top of the horn looks a bit flattened, maybe?

    How's this?
    Blank (aka, unnamed character)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Looks pretty good. Some shading/highlighting in the wrinkles of the pants and along the shoulders/sleeves of the jacket would make it pop a bit more, though.
  21. Outlining in white. Judicious use of various shades of gray (via shading techniques). Highlights, highlights, highlights.

Highlighting a dark object can have the same effect as shading a light one, in terms of creating depth and texture.

Offical Website recognition for the wonderful artists that thrive in our little community!

    (AKA: Update the Fanart Section!)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Indeed. Looking for the newest Fan Art and Screenshot on the main page used to be something I looked forward to...and then they didn't get updated...and went without being updated for ages...

Keep the Fan Art section updated, and give us a place to submit art for viewing by the masses, and that'd be fine by me.
