ok...here is the work in progress. been ages since I picked up a pencil and did anything quasi serious. already bunches of flaws. arm to long, chest to big, shoulders possibly to wide and hips to narrow. also not really happy with the chest icon and it is still a work in progress.

costume wise pretty close to in game. major change is the belt and the chest portion of the top. otherwise pants are justice and the upper arms are justice. I also like the idea that, like the justice top, the arms wings extend and meet on her back. its just the front chest wings that dont work for her.

two pics of basically the same exact thing as I took on by cheapy digicam and unsure what works best for you all viewing wise. it is a "rough" pic and even in person her face isnt all that clear but it is a lil more defined that pictured here. also, the back wing lines are not intended in the final piece...just something for me to look at to get an idea on how she will look in game.

anywho...there ya are...a piece in progress by whiteperegrine.

...let the shreading begin....heh~

why dont your draw and post stuff more often?

Posted

...cause I am a lazy cuss and I have to be inspired to draw. nitecrow does it for me so voila...nitecrow is born. ~

well either way i really like it

Hey not bad at all!

Just need to bring the arms shorter and the legs longer.

Keep on going, I want to see more!!!!

DRAW! DRAW! DRAW!

Love the pose and the wings - it's like she's stalking whatever's behind the camera, to finish it off. It's pretty good, and from the elbows up it looks great. Forearms are a bit short (and thin? Just a guess, there, not knowing the character) and the hips and legs are a tad narrow for the upper body. You've got more of a masculine inverted triangle frame, there.

All in all, though, very sweet.

Posted

aye...I do have more of a masculine frame there...and arms are a smidge to long, which in turn made the forearms look rail thin. when I make my redraw pass going to try and fix those up.

the wings are also a bit of a sticking point. originally was going to mae them well defined and a part of the suit. hence all the straight lines ya see, then changed my mind. now going for a more quasi-wispy wing look. given her dark powerset thinking along the lines of shroud or cloak...~

Gah! WP!!! POST MORE ART!!!! NOWWWW!!!

Seriously, you should post more art here! I didn't even know you drew!

I really like the character design. I am also very sad that you don't post more often. Whatever you like to draw at any time. Don't take requests if you dont' wanna, just do some more stuff, because that, small corrections aside, is a fine piece.

its alright...I'll probably keep this updated as she comes along. as far as other pieces, eh...we'll see...may do a new version of wp to incorporate his "new" look or possibly some of the fine characters rolling around here that strike my fancy...but we'll see. I much prefer other people's versions to my own...its that "different take" that I find cool and breathes a cetain level of life into the figures themselves.

the plan is to eventually digi color her...but need a ton of practice there...nowhere near the level of some of the folks around here.~

wow, color me surprised! I didn't know you drew either... and damn, son, you do need to get a touch more active with the drawing and the posting there of. You already have a good eye for spotting your mistakes (so correcting them shouldn't be that hard)... though one you missed is her hands, they could stand to be bigger while your reworking her upper arms. Remember, keep making hands and feet bigger until you think you went to far and made them too big... then make them a size larger just to make sure and you should be golden in that department.

Also, granted, you may not be on Gill Bates level of draw-fu here, but definitely not the worst person to post on these forums. Hell, some crap-[censored] pic of rowr (I think) even ended up here once and if the no-talent numb-nut that made that pic can post here, then you sure as hell can. Hold on, I think I can dig it up here... ya, if this can be posted here, then most anything goes... and you are already miles ahead of that idiot.

Don't down your self, your better then you think

Nitecrow Update
been playing with her avatar/icon for a bit now. the key, imo, for a good icon is to basically ensure you abid by the rules of KISS. if you get to indepth then it is lost amongst the rest and not nearly as remembered. the strongest one out there are really simple in design so for the most part, when I look to put something together I "try" and keep it simple....the tough part is making it look cool too. :/

anyways this is what I am looking at for the moment: NC Icon?
pretty straight foreward and boring but it does fit in a number of ways. the moon representing nite and the crow. the idea runs that the moon portion would be colored while the center portion open for a lil skin action.

the downside being it is possibly over played. meaning nothing new or spectacular. while I would like to come up with a new icon I also want to maintain KISS and keep it true to character concept. eh...at the moment kinda high on this one though....so we'll see. still fiddling around though so changes are possible, if not likely, at this point.

....and I still loath hands. why couldn't heroes just wear oven-mitts? be so much easier to draw. not like our heroes have to be super typists or anything.~

I really like the yin yang look that logo has to it. I think It should be simplified to pure balck, pure white, with an eye in the crow's head. Really good, though.

Ironik
I can see the confusion at this point. the end idea is that the moon portion will be colored.

I did look at splashing the raven across her torso...similar to firehawk(dc) but couldn't come up with anything I really liked. it was actually the first thing I looked at. I like the idea of an asymetrical suit...making it "work" is a different story though. in the end I decided to go with the icon and keep as much of the coh suit as I could/liked.

Serengeti
kinda the effect I was looking at. while the eye doesnt show real well it is there and the intent is that it will be the same color as the moon.

colorwise? lookin at black (surprise surprise...NITEcrow after all...heh) and a light green...possibly slightly neonish.

in general, I like it the best so far but that could change once I finally get to the coloring stage. in my minds eye though it looks pretty durn awsome colored. now...we'll see if I can make that actually be awsome in actuality... ~

Nitecrowupdate

...fixed a couple things in the redraw/clean up. still seeing a few things that I need to do and may end up doing yet another redraw but over all pretty happy with how she looks. that said...still fiddling with the "wings" and may change the look but we'll see.~

dont mind at all...I like honest critiques with possible solutions.

I can see what you mean about the shoulders...a bit angley. always have done gals (the few I've drawn at least) that way. using the more horizontal look for the fellas. not sure why I have but kinda helps give them a "narrower" look I suppose.~

...latest and greatest (minus a linky to updated pic. probably tomorrow morn)

* made the shoulders less "angley"
* thickened up some body portions
* reworked upper arms slightly...in addition to rebalancing

current pain in my butt are the shadow wings and a lil concerned how they will come out in photoshop (once I get to that point). figure the key will be playing with the transparency levels...but still doenst mean I am looking forward to it. also a lil anxious about workin with black. highlighting is your friend there...no doubt, but again not exactly Pro from Dover...so we'll see.

hoping to have her "done" by end of the weekend. assuming I can nail the shadow look tomorrow/tonight should be able to, with base paint done by end of weds.~

...finished linework and doing some prelim colororing on the shirt and to be honest not looking forward to it but I shall finish it out. cant seem to locate the blending tool though so that sucked...perhaps when I poke around some more tomorrow it'll rear its ugly head.
nitecrow icon
just a lil portion I whipped together since there was a question about confusing her chest and the moon, hopefully the above help clarify matters ~

Love the icon. Looks ideal.

I like it...need to redue the skin color as lookin a lil jaundiced....but its a rough only on the coloring. also need to think about makin the eye a smidge larger....other than that pleased over all so far ~

base coloring

...just as it say, the base coloring, gives a nice general feel for how she will look completed. still havent even touched the wings and they are gonna be a pain but I have a couple ideas so we'll see how it goes.~
