  1. Endgame = PvP and Community.

At least, as far as my MMO experiences are concerned. Once a character is finished I stay with him to simply continue to hang out with my friends and PvP.

Sadly, I'm down to only 1 RL friend that still plays here with me and as far as the PvP goes...yeah.

  3. I'd love an AT with only one controllable pet.

I'm just not a fan of having to have an army of 6 pets. If I could have an assault primary, with just one controllable pet in my secondary along with support/mitigation/whatever powers, I'd love it.

Basically have the Pet power as the 2nd tier secondary power, then the upgrade powers as the 4th and 8th perhaps, along with whatever other powers.

Official Threads vs. "I Want to be SEEN!

There are official threads already existing on MANY subjects. Try to find them if you have an opinion on a specific subject. If you cannot find them and you've done your best to search, then go ahead and post what you want to say. If the thread already exists, someone WILL point it out to you. At that point, I suggest you Notify the Moderator on your own thread so that he/she can delete it, and repost your comments on the official thread. If you KNOW that there is another official thread out there for your subject, and you KNOW where to find it... PLEASE don't make a new post just because "I want to be seen". I don't care if the official thread is the size of the Old Testament, it's there for a reason. If you just start to go through the official thread and READ it, more than likely you'll find that at least one person shares your exact same opinion on the subject. And the longer the thread is, the more likely someone else DOES share your view. Once you find that person, just simply quote them, or quote them and say "This". It causes a lot less pain and anger on the forums than starting your own thread on a subject that has already been hashed out a thousand times elsewhere. If you go look at the official thread, you'll find out that much of what you came to say has already been said.... so why say it again? Just emphasis what has already been said and you'll have a much happier forum life.

I'm going to move my rad/rad defender to the villainside but I won't PvP with him...not on freedom...I'll never pvp redside on freedom. I can't stand the players on that side, on that server.

I hear you brother, just think if they ever allowed side-switching...

    Oh wait...
  9. You better not be farming with Self-Destruct or making money cybering in that Bride outfit, sploiter!

    I don't see the problem.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
It's not "the major focus of development", but one can hardly claim it's being ignored.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not sure if you thought I implied it was being ignored, but just to be clear; I was simply asking if the coming PvP plans for zones/bases really are still in the works.

Most of the other post in this thread seem to make out as though I13 was supposed to serve as promotion of PvP by itself and not as if it was just laying the groundwork for that which was to come. I thought we just might be hearing more about their plans whilst we play in the cement while it dries...
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I remember from the I13 Beta these PvP changes were only to "prepare the battlefield" per say for more PvP work, not to promote it. Is that not what they said? There is, or was so far as I know, a PvP zone revamp coming, base PvP revamp, and all that jazz?

Or has that all changed? Is PvP in timeout?

Just wondering if more work is actually coming or if the developers have just said, "[censored] it."
  13. [ QUOTE ]
My guess is that the situation will be much simpler than many people are speculating it will be: "side switching" merely giving access to Praetorian universe co-op zones. Remember that this is a boxed expansion; people who don't have the expansion just won't be able to access the new content. I don't think we'll have villain AT's running around in original blue-side zones at all.

    Again, from the Press Release;

All this talk about this AT replacing that AT and this or that AT becoming obsolete is ABSURD!!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I agree.

It's powersets replacing powersets that we should be worried about!

Assault Rifle is doomed! Dual Pistols is going to replace them all.

  16. [ QUOTE ]
I have nothing against pvp as an activity, but there is a sizable minority of players so narrowminded and vile even a neutral soul like myself occasionally roots for its demise, just to be rid of them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    So...occasionally neutral soul?

  17. [ QUOTE ]
I actually agree that there are numerous issues with the current PvP balance - but then I had many problems with PvP balance before the I13 changes.

Honestly I don't think what we have now is any worse. It's simply different. Mind, the fact that it's different makes it bad enough for some people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm coming from the same direction you are, but saying it is "simply different" is not a stance I could take. Considering all powers had their damage adjusted based on a global code, all AT's were essentially converted into damage AT's, free resistances added in certain places, a baffling system of diminishing returns set in place, all outlandishly different from anything in the game before...

    Simply different it is not.

    [ QUOTE ]
It's kinda hard to tell how much of the ire from PvP players is because they genuinely think what we have now is broken, or because they're just unwilling to adapt or give the new system a shot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I feel no anger towards the system, nor feel like its broken, nor like I must adapt to try it out.

The system we have now is just very Daedalean.

They took the Type R right out of it.

    [ QUOTE ]
Regarding travel suppression in particular, though...I screamed like a rabid animal when I first saw the patch notes back when I13 was on test. Having played extensively since, though...I honestly don't think the new suppression is that bad. Running battles are still fine, and you still CAN remain mobile - indeed I agree this gives meleers a fighting chance...annnnd before you say anything, my favourite PvP character was (and is) a blaster. There's plenty amiss with I13 PvP, but the new suppression rules aren't the game-killer they're made out to be.

They really need to do something about Teleport in PvP, though. That much I agree.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I'm just going to quote this part directly from Macskull's letter;

    [ QUOTE ]
Why was suppression, in this form, considered necessary? I can think of two reasons. First, to give melee ATs a better chance at getting kills against ranged ATs, and second, to ensure that once a fight starts, someone dies. You failed spectacularly at the first point – kind of. You succeeded in that most of the people in PvP zones these days are Tankers, Scrappers, Stalkers, and Brutes, but failed in that the current “favorite” powersets for those ATs are once that bring ranged attacks to the table – Spines and Super Strength, notably. Even on characters with no in-set ranged attacks, they are practically required to take ranged attacks from an epic or patron pool just to be competitive. The problem with this is that the duration of suppression from being attacked is too short compared to the duration of suppression for making an attack, even a melee one. Two seconds of suppression on your opponent doesn’t help close the distance if you are suppressed for three seconds. I propose that the I13 suppression system be thrown out the window and replaced with one similar to what TribHavok suggested during the I13 beta (by the way, PvPers were told you were going to implement that system, and it never happened). That is:

    * Suppression functions identically to PvE suppression, except:
    * Being hit by a melee attack from a melee AT (not a ranged attack, such as Spirit Shark, Hurl, or Impale, from those ATs) causes two seconds of suppression. This, combined with the autohit -75% range in Taunt/Confront, will help ensure both that ranged ATs will need to stay fairly close to the melee ATs, while allowing the melee AT to close distance with the ranged attacker more easily.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Combined with the proposed travel power suppression setup at the bottom of that quote, I think a rework of slows, -jump, -fly would be interesting, if possible. In effect, basically adjusting them so they only suppress the corresponding travel power on their targets; Super Speed/Sprint, Super Jump/Combat Jumping, and Flight/Hover for a few seconds. Along with a immunity afterward, 15s or however long. For teleport, I could see some powers that could be granted -teleport, such as perhaps some gravity control powers, or ... electric attacks maybe? It worked for SLJ at least.

Anyways, I'm just shooting from the hip. Everyone's opinion and experience may differ.
  18. My preferred solution would be to just ditch the Patron Pools completely and just give both sides Mastery pools.

Of course I doubt that is going to be what happens, and there would be a lot more that would have to be done.

But I'd love to see about ten different masteries for each AT, so that every set within the AT had a simple concept matching Mastery Pool. Balancing could be a pain, but setting them up shouldn't be so hard considering most of the powers are just grabbed from other sets right?

Yes, I hate the whole "gaining powers from your Patron" concept, I'm biased.

Agreed the mask is dumb. Make overs for the Phalanx, stat!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Signature Characters that I think look great:
    Positron
Numina (She's a ghosty! While her outfit isn't my favorite, it fits her REALLY well)
Statesman (I like the mask, and his outfit is empowering)
    Hero 1
    Miss Liberty
    War Witch
    Lord Recluse
    Ghost Widow
    Black Scorpion
    Capt. Mako
    Scirocco
    Barracuda
    Silver Mantis
    Wretch
    Tyrant
    Foreshadow
    Mirror Spirit
    Aurora Borealis

Signature Characters that look 'Ok,' but could use a little help:
Infernal (All I want is to change his demonic wings to burned wings)
Sister Psyche (she really could be more unique. Couldn't she at least have her own style hair?)
Manticore (I'm not sure what's wrong with it, I just want it improved)
Back Alley Brawler (I know he's retired... But can't he have a snazzy super suit for when he's out on duty?)
Synapse (Nice suit, but I do get tired of looking at it after awhile)
    Citadel (Slightly boring... Sorry)
    Lumina
Ice Mistral (Not villainous enough. In fact, besides her face, her outfit's a little bit cheery)

Signature Characters that look absolutely awful:
Swan (Don't make me have to tell you why...)
Serpent Drummer (Nothing... Unique... At all...)
    Minx (She just needs help)

Signature Characters that we need [u]RIGHT NOW[u]:
    Sexy J

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ghost Falcon has to be the worst imo.

Meh, even if it is, hopefully my brutes will be able to take an epic set that has a hold in it.

Counterpoint: my DM/SD scrapper might be able to take gloom...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I'm really curious as well about how they'll be handling the epics.

If I can take my Katana/WP scrapper over to the Dark Side and get some Mu Lightning...
  21. Pulse Rifle.

Combined with Pistols they would round out the ranged, gun weapon sets, sort of equalizing them with the melee, blade weapon sets.

Broadsword / Assault Rifle = Slow but strong.
Katana / Pulse Rifle = Smooth and sexy
Claws / Dual Pistols = Swift and stylish.

Well, at least that's how I envision them.
  22. I've heard from a few friends that cyberpowerpc does have some shoddy customer service. They mentioned you can buy a cyberpowerpc off Newegg though. This way if there is shipping problems you can deal with Newegg, whom has much better customer service, which I can definately account for.

    Just throwing it out there.

On a note to the lag, if it's simple lag people may want to make sure supress other player effects is on. Mine reset and I didn't realize it for a couple of days.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just curious, does suppress other player effects still supposed to work? I know mine always resets to disabled if I ever try enabling it...

Plus it seems there wouldn't be as much complaining about people leaving toggles/auras on in Markets and such if this actually worked. So, I'm assuming...no?
