  1. From an RP point of view.....

What size is the team? Doesn't matter
How many of each AT is there? Also doesn't matter
Which power sets do you need to avoid in rpg terms? Why avoid any? unless the team in question is a concept it shouldn't really make any difference
How closely linked to the charecters need to be? Well personally, my main rarely joins teams with people he doesn't know IC or OOC. New toons I'm happy to throw into IC teams for fun
  2. Get yourself a nice friendly Tank and 'troller and pretty much all your worries will just melt away.

Tank gets a nice little herd going, 'troller locks them all down in a tightly packed group, they you hurl AoE's like your life depended on it.

You just need to learn to wait for tanks etc to have fully consolidated aggro before deciding to show just how much you can hurt stuff, otherwise you'll be planting faces a whole lot.

(although after lvl 47 thats actually a viable tactic thanks to Rise of the Phoenix)
  3. Glad you're enjoying Claws / Invuln.

And just think, it gets better the further you go, though if you're anything like me you'll be wishing you were a bit more fragile so you can get your hands on the final Debt badge ( only managed to grab the ones I have so far due to deliberate suicides prior to exemping to help friends or to do TF's with sub-40's level caps )
  4. Veskit

    */Invul Advice.

Yeah gotta agree with everyone else here, 1 End Reduction enhancement in all toggles and attacks is a major help.
  5. Personally I don't like Shockwave, knocking mobs out of reach (and at the same time removing them from the Invinciblity buff area) just doesn't work for me, and I tend to use it for the rare occasions Focus misses as an opening attack on Sappers, or to create an escape route in the most dire of situations.

As I said however, thats just what works for me, everyone plays differently and uses their tools to suit their needs
  6. Personally, for a Claw / Invul I feel that Spin is as near as Focus for being one of those 'must have' powers.

Think about it, Invincibility's taunt effect draws mobs to you, which nicely boost Def and Acc, but do you really want all those mobs beating you round the head for too long?

Spin helps wiping out large groups of minions while you beat down a boss with shocking ease, just add it into your attack chain where ever you feel, and just fire it off when it recharges.

I also find it fairly handy for gathering and holding aggro when teaming without a tanker with a couple of buddies when they bring out their squishy toons (guess who gets to be the bad guys best buddy then) doubled up with the taunt effect all you need do is dive into the middle of a mob group, hit spin to get the initial aggro and then just do your thing as usual.

This all works well for me and my personal play-style, as always with advice YMMV
  7. Seems a solid enough build to me.

This is the one I'm using for my main ( and yes, not slotting Shockwave is deliberate as it very rarely gets used, these days it tends to be only if Focus misses a Malta sapper and I need to keep it from getting a shot off )

I've had no problems so far, apart from the aforementioned Sappers dropping toggles (mainly unyielding as that leaves you open for all kinds of nasty stuns from their little buddies with the tazers)

The only thing you'll need to watch out for is Invincibility's taunt effect (which still isn't noted in-game for some crazy reason) if you're teaming and have no tanker / a real bad tanker who holds aggro like a chocolate teapot holds hot water. You might find yourself with a little too much attention from time to time, though with a cool head and sensible use of Dull Pain and green Insp's you'll be able to emerge as the victor with a huge grin. I know I do regularly

*gasps* Inny! You... you... hug clowns?!
    Oh my God...

Yeah he hugs clowns, and we have proof right HERE (which is also one of Dove's pictures)
  9. If it's an RP group you're looking for, I'd suggest heading to the GG meets every night at 9pm UK time. There's usually members of a few RP groups present. Maybe send a few /tells and find out how they go about recruiting ( I know there's a few groups that only take on certain types of character such as the Apache Longbow group ( who all look mighty impressive I might add, see >> clicky and more clicky ))
  10. The ferry had pulled into port at Talos several minutes ago, yet Ves hadn't made it down the walk way to dry land yet. Every few steps he stopped and lent against the hand rails, clutching his arm to his side as he did. The pain was fading a little as the nanobots within his body went to work repairing the damage he'd sustained, both before and after the hounds of the enemy had dragged him down.

It wasn't the physical pain that was bothering him, it would heal given enough time and rest. It was the fight in the bunker that was weighing on his mind. He'd faced off against those he was ment to be helping, granted he wasn't alone in this, but he wasn't responsible for the actions of others.

Pushing himself from the rail he activated his armoured shell beneath his clothing, pride wouldn't allow him to walk the streets looking weak, it didn't help his pain but at least the rigidity would support his arm while his shoulder rebuilt itself.

He turned slowly, slight dizziness causing him to sway for a second before regained his senses fully, then he strode off towards the hospital. He had an apology to make.

    List of rp SG's?

    [ QUOTE ]
Is it worth putting all the SG on same server into a coalition?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Afraid that's not possible, largely due to the limit on the number of groups you can form a coalition with (think it's around 10 IIRC)

If it's ease of communication you seek, I'd suggest creating a global chat channel like the good people of GG have in GGOOC (an OOC channel for all the usual insane chatter, and it helps us form both IC and OOC teams with people we know rather than having to hope the PuG you just joined isn't going to end in a debt frenzy)

    Just a thought
  12. Like I said, I could be wrong, my opinion is based around what I've seen with my scrapper, and since I tend to solo or work in fairly small teams (3-4 people) the Def and Acc boost are never reaching their full potential. the times in in a large team there's pretty much always a Tanker thats hogging all the aggro which means I tend to get hit less, and don't really notice the Def and Res qualities of the set.
  13. Actually it boosts Accuracy and Defense, and boosts more if you're stuck in the middle of a huge crowd of mobs up to a grand total of 10. Which is VERY nice, but you'll only get the most from this ability if you're in large teams where the groups are big enough to max out it's self buff component. (and you're willing to dive into the middle of them all)
  14. Veskit

    unyielding

Ahhh, I've not gone up against those guys or a while now which is probably why I've never noticed them dropping toggles lately. Damn that blows
  15. [ QUOTE ]
A thing about /inv which many dont know: the set is actually very much def based with a truck load of S/L def. When you get your +DEF powers trislot them with def ASAP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Umm... You sure?
    Resist Physical Damage = Resistance
    Temp invulnerability = Resistance
Unyielding = Resistance boost AND Defence reduction
    Resist Elements = Resistance
    Resist Energies = Resistance
    Unstoppable = Resistance

    Invinciblity = Defense
    Tough Hide = Defense

Looking at it like that I'd say it's far more RES based than DEF based, although I could be wrong, but from my time with the set I don't think I am.
  16. Veskit

    unyielding

I can't honestly think of any point where my toggles have been dropped by anything other than End draining mobs such as Sappers or those damned Carnies when a nice Crit AoE lands and you have multiple End draining screams to deal with.

Tsoo never managed it, and I can't think of anything else that has either, I basically log on, toggle up, then mission for a while, then turn them off when I'm done. Always the same number to shut down at the end of the day.
  17. Sunday

Having missed the call to the battle lines Veskitsoon found himself something useful to do. The combined forces of the Freakshow and the Tsoo had decided that with, the majority of Paragon's hero population busy, the time for them to take over was now.

Their plans hit a slight snag however, as Ves, in the truest fashion of the FA hurled himself into them with reckless abandon, often fighting them alone though being joined by Mephiston for a period and meeting up with a young warrior of the Cirque as she laid waste to the ranks of the Tsoo while uttering many dark curses (that sort of language is most unexpected from such a young lady, she really could cuss like a trooper, put Ves and Meph combined to shame)

Eventually the trio managed to break the drive of the gangs, those that didn't end up in the Zig were pushed back into the sea, though they were few in number. The small team then went their seperate ways to tend to their wounds and ready themselves for any further trouble, hoping that the next time there wouldn't be quite so much damage to the surrounding area (those Freakshow Tanks can make quite a dent in a car when slamming a half crazed cyborg into the side of them, and windows break far too easily when the afore mentioned cyborg gets up and slams the Freak Tank right back)
  18. My main is a Claws / Invuln Scrapper currently sitting at lvl 42. I've spent my time in a mix or large teams and soloing, so while I certainly lack the number crunching skills of some I think I know my toon well enough by now.

    [ QUOTE ]
I know my secondary won't really kick in for a while yet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unfortunatly this tends to be true, however, once it comes good you'll know it (I find the long trail of broken bad guys behind me kinda gives it away)

As I said in another post, I tend to build all my scrappers rather defensivly for their early levels, grabbing all the secondary powers that I need and just enough attacks to keep my button mashing habits covered. Remember, lots of attacks are fun, but they're no use if you're face down playing worm food. Infact, after looking over the build I used for him originally Ves only had 3 attacks from lvl 1 until lvl 22 and one of those was his travel power prereq (Air Sup, 'cause everyone has to take flight for their first toons first travel power)

All his other power choices were either his travel power, the powers needed for Stamina at lvl 20 (and you will be needing this, even with Claws as your primary you'll be leaking End all over the place) or powers that helped him not face-plant (Temp invulnerability, Dull Pain, Unyielding all essential, but you know that already after playing your tanker)

Once you get Stamina life gets a little better, then as soon as you pick up Invincibility it gets better still. And then there's Unstoppable to look forward to (*cries manly tears of joy*)

Now then, to consider your concept behind your character....

    [ QUOTE ]
Ultimately, the plan is to be a terrier, Joe Pesci in Casino, the guy who you just can't knock down

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah I think you'll be able to manage that with ease, the number of times I've been teaming with a few buddies and we've grabbed a few other random folks to fill out the spaces and then scared the hell out of the new guys by challenging the Tanker to a last man standing contest, and then dived right into the middle of the biggest group I can find, only to run out of things to hit shortly after until I dive into the next group. (This is partly because I like to mission with some of my buddies IC as I'm an RPer and Ves has a little bit of a suicidal streak about a mile wide)

You will be standing at the end of pretty much any fight, it's just a case of learning to time that Dull Pain click just right. Oh and ermembering to keep an eye on that little icon when you hit Unstoppable, 3 minutes of near unkillable-ness it great, until it wears off mid fight (Yes it happens to the best of us, usually on big teams with loads of enemies floating around.

Stick with it, you'll soon learn to love him trust me on this
  19. Ok, this is just a personal thing, and others may just stand back and laugh, but I build my scrappers (all 5 of the deranged little mob mashers) with survival as the main focus of the early levels.

Granted this sometimes means they have few attacks early on, but it also means they stay standing long enough to use the attacks the do have a lot more than those with more attacks. You can't hit anything if you're laid face down in the dirt after running out of End or HP.

I'll slip Build Up in at 22 for my BS/Regen, I found Quick Recovery far too important to skip. Granted Katana does use less End per attack, but with the faster recharges and lower damage you'll be swinging more so kinda evens it out a little.

Moral of the story, grab QR asap, it'll allow you to push Stamina back until the 30's (lvl 30 for my guy to be exact) and allows you to free up a few early power choices which you wouldn't have if you crowbar Stamina in at 20.

Just my personal view, living longer is better than more hitting stuff powers, and as */Regen, you don't NEED Stamina at 20.

    Claws/DA

    [ QUOTE ]
And Brawl on auto? Ugh, I couldn't face having to keep redrawing my Claws every time. Still, it's up to you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kinda lucky that you don't have to redraw your claws at all when you brawl then really I guess (or any other weapon for that matter, the only reason I don't have it on auto for my stalker is because it slaps a target before I can AS them from hidden which is really bad), kinda handy if you ask me, fills those 0.5 second gaps between powers nicely, and for finishing off a mob before you slap your next target upside the head with Focus instead of having to use such a nice power just to take out the last 10 HP of the last target.
  21. Veskit

    Claws/DA

    [ QUOTE ]
I definately think you should be getting Focus at 18, it's the best attack in the set and it will be painful to go all those levels with only 2 attacks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are 3 attacks, (Strike, Slash and Follow Up) along with Death Shroud, more than enough damage early on to get by, and if I slipped Focus in at 18 I'd have to move Stamina back another 2 lvl's which would be really bad.

    [ QUOTE ]
Why do you hate it? It will help you make a far better attack chain when it's up (Strike, Slash, Focus with Follow Up if necessary).

    [/ QUOTE ]

My main is a lvl 42 Claws/Invuln scrapper, he doesn't need hasten, and he never did. Also have a Claws/Regen, she has no need for hasten either. With Brawl set to Auto, any minor gaps are plugged between attacks (which are none existant on my main as there's so many buttons to press something is always ready to use) Even my Claws/Regen stalker doesn't NEED it, although since he hasn't got brawl on auto there are the occasional spaces in his chain, though that will be filled once he gets his next attack power, and he only ever scraps it out with one mob in a group anyway, (groups of 3, AS 1st, scrap it out with 2nd, Placate and AS 3rd)

I just don't like having to rely on a power being ready to use inorder to make my toons effective, Hasten is one power which some people can't live without, while others can manage easily. I'm one of the ones that prefers to be without it, not saying it's a bad power, I just don't like it. If it was still perma-able then I might reconsider, but it's not so I won't.

Drop the medicine kit (you have dark regen)

    [/ QUOTE ]

True, but 33% of End per use is a little rough, and I tend to work solo or in small 2-4 man teams, where healing abilities are a little thin on the ground. This can lead to more hospital visits than enjoyable if something goes wrong (an unseen Malta Sapper toasting the tank, voids playing silly beggers with the PB, the list is nigh on endless)

    [ QUOTE ]
    Hasten at 35.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, I would rather chew through my own wrists than go near this pool in general, and this ability especially. There are no words that can describe how much I hate it. None of my toons have it and they never will.

FA is one of the biggest End drains I've met so far, doubled with DA's End use I avoided it, however, if this isn't going to be much of a problem then I might reconsider by the time Epic pools become a factor

Not a fan of the attack (and with Death Shroud active, why would I want to be sending mobs away from me?)

    Hmm.....

Don't see how it can possibly chew through my End faster than say a DM / DA due to Claws fairly light End use. This needs investigating

Thanks for the power advice however
