Quote:Yeah I meant Defensive Sweep.Titan Sweep doesn't do bruising. It's not a bad power by any measure, it just isn't a cornerstone of the set, and thus is skippable if necessary. However, I would certainly not skip it in a leveling build, because Whirl and Arc don't come until much later.
Edit: It appears you mean Defensive Sweep? But tankers can't skip it anyway, I was just adding that for completeness if someone is reading this thread and wondering the same thing for another AT.
On another note, since I am Invul should I slot invincibility with to-hit buffs too? -
Quote:Well I like Titan Sweep for an extra AOE and for bruising, also while my character is Invul I do like the extra smashing resistance.Crushing Blow and Titan Sweep are the two most skippable powers, IMO. Or possibly Defensive Sweep if your armor set doesn't make good use of it, but obviously that's not an option for a tanker.
I haven't checked the numbers for tankers yet, but for scrappers, Titan Sweep and Whirling Smash trail well behind Arc of Destruction and Rend Armor for DPA. Crushing Blow's DPA is actually not very high compared to the rest of the set.
Sounds like I can drop Crushing Blow and move my -Res proc from it into Rend instead... -
Reason I ask with the amount of recharge I am going to have I am wondering what the best attack chain would be. I have a SS character and I can pretty much make a chain out of Gloom, Haymaker, KO Blow...
Also I wonder if from a DPA wise if you made a chain out of all the 1 second cast time animations if that would be possible...
Defensive Sweep, Titan Sweep, Follow Through, Whirling Smash. -
I have a Tanker and wondering what attacks should I consider skipping? I have to take Defensive Sweep which isn't too bad as a LOTG and for Bruising. However, what other powers should I skip? Would skipping Crushing Blow or Arc of Destruction be silly?
-
Some other thoughts too:
1) What does the chest in SSA 1 in the villain side have to do with any of this? It talked about the Cult of Eyes...
2) What about the vision at the end of SSA 1? It talks about Positron looking grim shaking a ghostly woman's hand... At first we thought this was Numina, maybe its the deceased daughter of Statesman? -
I didn't realize test and beta were two different things... I assume its beta then.
-
Time to test these out, lets try and start posting the probabilities.
-
If I do the Baby Winter or the Lady Winter mission at 50, do these mobs have a chance to drop purples? Wondering because I want to get more Candy Salvage and I have a bunch of Windfalls to burn from the Black Friday Weekend.
I could be getting two birds with one stone... -
Quote:Ok I have always been confused about this badge. As it happens the MO (Master of) Lambda badges are designed around precisely the opposite condition - on 3 separate runs, you have to collect all the temps without using any, collect the acids only and not use any, and collect all the grenades, again without using any.
So, having them use themselves would break that mechanic (not that I don't think it's broken anyway *shameless plug for the return of the old 'bugged' MOLambda conditions*), so it's not likely to happen.
Wouldn't fulfilling the first requirement fulfill all 3? If you collect all the temps and not use any of them wouldn't you get credit for the other two?
Also how the heck do you not use any temps in that and win? -
Quote:Quoting this but the question goes out to anyone:It depends on how high is high. If you can soft-cap Willpower, I think it can exceed Invuln on Tankers. But if you can't, the combination of high smash/lethal, perma dull pain, and invincibility is not easy to beat in most content.
Still, anyone who doesn't put Invuln up there as a strong tanking build has suspect judgment, and anyone who doesn't put Electric up there is probably extremely dated in their knowledge of the sets.
Is this factoring in Incarnate abilities? Reason I ask is can Willpower even cap its HP through IO's?
That HP difference with Rebirth could make substantial gains on an Invul tank. -
I notice the hero skin is still bugged... There was an announcement there was going to be one.
-
Quote:Only problem with raising the MAX HP further is there increases a distance between Tanker builds. With the current HP cap, any set without Dull Pain cannot ever cap their HP without Frostwork. If they were to do *anything* to change Tankers (and Tankers alone), my only requests would be...
Raise the target cap on Taunt. Like, 20 targets or so. 5 is almost not worth using, except in emergency situations (like needing to pull an ambush off the Blaster on a Master run or something. Which it still fails at, because ambushes almost always spawn more than 5 targets).
Remove the aggro cap for Tankers. If the tanker wants to aggro the next three rooms at once, why shouldn't they be able to? That *is* their single purpose for being on the team. 90% of the Tankers in the game can handle way more aggro from 90% of the enemy groups in the game than they are allowed to take due to the aggro cap. Removing the aggro cap would also give the side benefit of making the AT more entertaining to play, as the driver would need to pay attention and not aggro more than they can handle, instead of it being as it is now, and just running around punching things while the team blows it all up. Rinse, repeat.
Personally, I also believe this would have the side benefit of seeing a resurgence of some of the more "neglected" powersets in the game. In particular, Empathy and Pain Domination. As the tank gets more aggro, they have more need of superior buffs (and possibly healing) that other AT's might not benefit from as much as a Tanker swimming in 80 <insert preferred enemy group here>. Less-used powers like Share Pain would start being useful again, rather than being the "LOL, You took THAT power?! LOL!!ONE" laughingstock it is now. (To that end, I think people are silly not to take it as things are now, but that's irrelevant.)
Other "buffs" that I wouldn't mind seeing, but also don't consider terribly important:
Raise the HP cap for Tankers. I have a Stone Armor tank that can self-cap HP using only TFC/Freem Phalanx (still missing Portal Jockey) and 3-slotted Earth's Embrace, plus a couple IO bonuses. OK, alot of bonuses. But it still wasn't a primary (or even tertiary) goal with the build. MaxHP was more like 5th place. Ally +MaxHP buffs like Frostwork are almost never taken, because the AT's that could benefit the most from them (namely, Tankers, Blasters on sub-par or Tanker/Brute-less teams, and Stalkers {though if I recall, Stalkers are getting an increase on their cap?}) can't benefit due to the HP cap. And just to clarify things, reducing the effectiveness of buffs to make it harder to hit the existing cap REALLY is NOT the right way to go about making changes.
Raise the existing taunt magnitude for all Tanker powers. Scrappers having a taunt aura with the same effectiveness as a Tanker is kind of silly, when you think about it.
I had another idea, but I spent so long typing all of that, I forgot about it.
Also, I only read the first and 25th pages, I skipped the other 23. So, sorry if this has all been beaten to death in this topic already. -
Ok I will ask for one... might I ask why? Does it give you more speed?
-
I keep missing this by about 4 seconds and not really sure what to do to go faster. I have speed boost and I am taking the portal and going left (The snow guy's side).
Any other tips for this? My character is 50.. -
Quote:If you didn't notice I kept saying "What if" in my first post... was hoping to create more discussion. You making more guess's, couple days ago you posted another Post about telling us it was Back Ally Brawler who is going to die. You just making more Guess's and more Theories about what to come, You where wrong about brawler and I am sure you are wrong with Wade and what to come. Only people who no's the outcome is The Devs and that is all, we can only make guess's.

So we all know Statesman is going to die, who will get his powers? Well, in the first part of the SSA the obelisk is shown to be able to transfer powers and its revealed its PERMANENT when the person dies. This leads to a few interesting things:
1) What if Darrin Wade knows about the Coming Storm? The entire problem as depicted by Mender Lazarus and Prometheus is that getting power too quickly from the Well results in being consumed and taken over by the Well. This can be sign with characters like Hero 1, Statesman, and Lord Recluse as the Well of Furies takes them over and speaks through them.
What if Darrin Wades plan was to become a type of Vigilante Hero? What if he is killing Statesman for the "Greater Good?"
Think of it this way, if he kills Statesman and obtains his powers, he will then become an Incarnate at FULL power and be COMPLETELY free of the Well. He will have no connection to it. This is what players in the story are currently suppose to be doing. Slowly gaining their power to be free of the Well.
In fact, Lord Recluse has been trying to find a way to be free of the Well. This could be the way of fast power via the Well without becoming a slave to it.
2) Looking at the cut scenes from the arc, Malaise, who is now dead, did ask "Will the next person be the one I was intended for?" Now, it could be interrupted that this was Sister Psyche and the entire entering the mind, or it could be inferred (and the way I did) was that person was the one that they would be stealing the powers from and that Malaise was intended to be the beneficiary of receiving these powers.
If Darrin Wade was lying or manipulating so that he could get the powers, so be it... but this leads to point 3
3) Villains are part of this arc too, I can't imagine a villain just standing there and going "Sure Wade you take all the powers of the most powerful person on the planet aside from Hamidon, I will stand back and watch" -- Now, it could be written that the villain player is made to be a fool and tricked and does not get the powers after being backstabbed...
Or what if WE the player base do get Statesman powers?
What if Statesman's Powers unlocked a NEW INCARNATE SLOT OR POWER?
Imagine this, in the case of villains they steal Statesman's powers which unlocks one of the new incarnate slots (Or possibly a new Incarnate Power, like STATESMAN's JUDGEMENT POWER that slam the fist thing) or imagine if during the Hero Arc Statesman dying breath he pushes the Hero into the obelisk to transfer his power to them? The Hero player becomes the next "Statesman."
How cool would that be?
4) We the players could become exactly what Prometheus and Mender Ramiel wants. We could become a pretty powerful Incarnate by taking Statesman's powers or in the case of Heroes accidentally receiving them. This could be the biggest asset in the Coming Storm.

Quote:Oh it all went according to plan, my false revelation caused the announcement of Statesman's death.I want Ultimus back in this thread to say he knew it was states all along!
You see me and Darrin Wade planned to divert all the heroes onto BaBs so we could kill Statesman!
Muahahhahahaha -
I am still trying to figure out how WP is second to Granite armor? Am I calculating wrong? (Not trying to poke fun or demean his post) I cannot seem to surpass Invul.

Quote:SureBAB is the easy choice, but he isn't a member of the phalanx so I'm going to say that it isn't going to be the token that dies.
There are three phalanx members left to be prominent in the "Who will die archs" and they are Manticore, Citadel and Positron.
And the goal for Wade is power, incredible power.
Wade has essentially removed the major players that could interfere with his plans: Sister Psyche is bonkers, Manticore (the world's greatest detective, sort of) is tied up with that and ostrasized by the others. Statesman is awol.
Manticore is highly trained hero with gadgets . . . he seems an unlikely sacrifice for ultimate power.
Citadel is a robot. Again an unlikely sacrifice.
That leaves the "heart" of the phalanx. The one that guards the flames of prometheus. The one who's mirror in praetoria posseses the "power of the universe."
Of all the characters to die, he would be the hardest hitting for the player base. People have a love hate thing with Statesman. Many people would be glad he was gone. Sister dying would hit people, but the impact on Manticore would make up for it.
But Posi . . .
If I was the devs and I really wanted to shake up the player base and the game, to make people think "anything can happen" I would kill him off.
He is not the easy choice, which is essentially Ultimus' argument.
But he is the best choice and the logical one if you want the biggest impact.
So, Ultimus if you want to place a wage, I'm game.
I'll pay you 100,000,000 million influence if its BAB, if you'll pay me the same if it is Positron. Its a wash if its anyone else.
You in? -
Quote:Quoting this post so I can add it to the first one in a few monthsAnd you know what, ultimus? I think that issue 23 of City of heroes is going to see major upgrades to the PVP, base, and base raid system. I think one of the next power sets in the shoot is going to be scythe fighting. I predict the next big update will be fixing dual pistols and kinetic melee's agonizingly long animation times and concentrated strike's sucky animations. Oh, and the next costume bundle will give us long skirts, and the third season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is 13 episodes because it'll be story arc heavy with an epic climax.
Anyone else who disagrees with my rampant speculation is WRONG, just like how anyone who disagrees with you is clearly wrong! Because we said so, that's why!
/sarcasm -
Quote:Did you watch the video I linked? Matt Miller states "We couldn't do this arc until we built the technology which came with issue 21 the phasing which allows players to permanently alter the world after doing a mission"Who said anywhere it was going to involve phasing?
When the character kicks it, they're gone. They're not going to just ghost out when you finish the SSA, they're getting completely written out of the game.
It's like the Galaxy City change, even though chronologically Galaxy City is 'new', it has now always happened and is currently happening at the same time, so they've cut Galaxy City out of everything even though *several* (if not nearly all) missions that predate it.
When SSA7 hits, this character is going to die and it's going to be a major rewrite just like Galaxy City was, it is going to be 'currently' happening and 'always' have happened and all missions are going to be rewritten to take it into account that involve it.
