Quote:Speaking of gullible, did you know if you say the word "gullible" slow enough it sounds like "oranges?"Kudos for the honesty. And, no, no one thought you got 2 billion, just thought you believed we were very gullible, so nice of you to set the record straight (I am being serious).
I don't want to put you down because I did poke previously, but just to clarify for you, I think the post turned into something big because the name wasn't overly original or interesting to most people, so it was funny to, at least, me to see someone selling something that wasn't coveted. -
Quote:In WOW the single person gets the bonus. And how would it distinguish between using it with a fully pre-formed league, and joining such a league as a single person from the queue? Would the single person get the bonus? The whole league? No one?
People are going to use the interface. Just being able to start up a TF from any zone is reason enough to do that. What some of us are not going to do is hope for fully randomized teams, made of nothing but people who all hopped in the queue together. -
Quote:World of Warcraft I think did it best, give an incentive to queuing up with a random teamWe as a community need to support a fundamental shift in how teams are created. I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate spamming channels and sending out tells to everyone looking for teams. We really need to make a concerted effort to use the queuing system how it was intended and get people used to teaming this way.
Maybe we can start holding queue-based events, or forming up groups dedicated to running multiple queue-recruited task forces per day or something. Honestly, I think that the only people don't use them more now is because of the shortcomings it has had that this issue resolves (for example, not being queueable in missions and such), but I'm a little worried that the simple inertia of people doing things the way they've always been done will be a hinderance to the queue system, which I think is brilliant, becoming widely accepted.
@The devs, next stop: Ouroboros arcs!
In World of Warcraft, you get a bonus when you queue with a random team (Not a pre-formed team). At the end of the dungeon you get a bonus that is given once a day and a lesser bonus.
In this game's equivalent, it would be like giving 3 EMP merits for doing a random TF queue and 1 EMP merit for the rest of the day until it reset. -
And I just did a solo MOLRSF on my SS/Fire/Soul Brute. Was pretty intense

The letter writer is....
THE MILKMAN
This nefarious villain sprays his victims with cow milk and works VERY closely with the POSTMAN and this is how he obtained these letters.
Of course the arch rival to the Milkman is the super hero known as "Super Dude" -- Super Dude is immune to all forms of damage except for his one flaw... HE IS LACTOSE INTOLERANT!
The Milkman's goal is to control Ouroboros and humanity's fate by altering it making us all lactose intolerant. -
I have the name Thanatos on Freedom, latin for death.

Hamidon Inspirations can resist it, the blue wisp pet gives you defense vs it (its base defense) and any type of "regen" set (Regeneration, Fiery Aura Healing Flames has a very short cooldown) can effectively negate it.

Quote:Don't forget the duration of your hold will be longer because the mitos are level 50 and you will be 51... 52 if you used an Ultimate. It's the same Hold protection the purple triangles give, and permadoms have been permaholding AVs for years. I've even heard it done with Ice Control.
Consider the following:
* Domination makes your holds mag 6
* The single-target hold recharges pretty quickly (8s) and lasts a while (17.88s). With 95% Enhancement for Hold and Recharge, plus the +123% recharge required for permadom, this makes the power recharge in 2.51s (for a 4.58s cast cycle) and last 34.86s. It stacks with itself 7 times without breaking; 8 more often than 7.
* Earth Assault happens to have Seismic Smash, which is a single-target hold that recharges in 20s and lasts 11.92s. With the aforementioned buffs, it'll recharge in 6.28s (7.78s cast cycle) and last for 23.24s; stacking with itself nearly 3 times perma.
* There's an AoE hold you can use in case something misses.
* Many pets have holds, such as Singularity, Jack Frost and Animated Stone
* 6 mag * (7 stacks ST + 3 stacks Seismic) = 60 magnitude hold perma, not including the AoE or pet.
EDIT:
Oh yeah, I forgot... Earth Assault also has Power Boost, which effectively doubles (+98.34%) the duration of your Holds; which in turn effectively doubles their stackability while it's up. Between the single-target hold and Seismic Smash, you're looking at 120+ magnitude for whatever brief moment they all overlap in happy harmony. -
Quote:No I mean Hamidon, I can already solo the damage mitos. My feelings for this change are sorta mixed. 1) I felt the dual/team insps were pretty lulzy before this change, so a buff to them is cool. However, 2) Theyre insps, insps are strong enough as it is, without them lasting lol5minutes.
And no you're not going to be soloing hamidon with this change Ultimus, unless you mean lgtf hamidon and thats been done before. -
Anyone know a Green Mito's HP? With +1 level mod from alpha I wonder if I could one or two shot it at damage cap + FE.
-
To each their own, pets are nothing but a glorified DOT but some find them interesting.
-
They are now 5 min duration with this patch. Dual, Team, etc.
Edit: And they persist through death. -
-
Basically lets look at a control and damage power:
Grasping Shadow: 12.6 Hold second duration, if under the effects of Shadow Self apply Mag 3 Hold for 12.6 seconds.
Blaze: 153 fire damage, if under the effects of Shadow Self deal 153 fire damage to target. -
Here is the Tier 9 Darkness power:
Shadow Self -- Summons an invincible doppelganger of yourself. The doppelganger will not fight on its own but rather COPY ALL of your attacks made by you. Essentially, if you fire an attack, it will fire that same attack, if you miss with that attack, so will the doppelganger. If you use a control hold, it will too.
In tech terms, the Shadow Self is just the "graphics" of the power and has no real effect. The actual effect is a special tag which like fiery embrace, doubles the damage (beyond damage cap) of all your attacks and the same with the holds. -
Serious, with this change I am just thinking of the possibilities that I could do. Solo MOSTF and MOLRSF would be fairly easy. (Damage cap Brute + Res Cap + Def Cap for 5 mins + Fiery Embrace)
This isn't a complaint but I am just thinking WOW they gave us a lot of power by making this change. -
Nothing new = more points saved for me.

The term toon first emerged in late 2001 early 2002 in a game called Everquest. I played Ultima Online from when it first came out (Which was the "first" MMORPG, see the quotations) and that was never used there.
When Everquest came out it emerged as what paved the way for all the other MMORPG's out there. There were several terms flying around at the time:
Character or char to describe your character
Main to describe your primary character
Twink which was your alt character that you decked out with gear
Avatar (Not really used) to describe a character.
The prominent word of choice was character back in the day but somewhere along the way new players to the MMORPG's started using toon which was much shorter.
Ultimately, you can tell how "old school" a MMORPG player is by whether they use character (Like I do) or if they use toon. -
And if you guys want to jump back in time, see the old thread with developer replies here:

This was when EM was in its prime "Aside from concept, why pick anything over EM?" -
Quote:Seismic Smash is 1.5 cast time, TF is 3.3, and KO blow is 2.2 and ET is 2.67 (Old animation was 1.0). In terms of DPA Seismic Smash =6.59 BI, TF =2.9967 KO blow = 4.495 Brawl, and ET is 4.74419. ET still maintains a 20 second recharge versus KO Blow's 25 second Recharge. However, ET's secondary effect stacks with the rest of the set its quite possible to stack quite a bit of stun really fast. In terms of DPE ET transcends all of the other attacks because its nearly half the endurance cost.Peas and carrots. One does the damage almost instantly (Seismic Smash), and one takes 3 seconds to apply it (Total Focus). The same idea applies to Energy Transfer versus other powers.
Animation times were not used to balance powersets in the old days, there was a formula (Which is still used today) that was used to balance them. Arcanaville knows it I believe so maybe she can post that formula but its basically a combination of recharge + damage scale + endurance.
The old ET was way out of line with the balancing formula. In fact, Castle brought it up to Geko (Which was the old powers developer WAY back when) way back in the day but Geko did not change it.
It still breaks that balancing formula although to balance it breaking that they altered the recharge.
In present time, the developers now factor in animation times when creating new sets. The old sets were "grandfathered" in sort to speak.
Castle nerfed EM because its single target damage due to ET was way out of line and because of PVP. He also got mad because of players telling other players they were idiots for not taking EM.
I believe the thread that finally pushed him over the line was the one titled "If you don't pick Energy Melee then you are a doughnut head."
If you want Energy Melee's niche to be the highest single target damage, that isn't going to happen. In a balanced world, fire would hold that position because its secondary is more damage. -
People keep knocking Energy Transfer's -HP but you have to remember what exactly the tradeoff is.
Its sacrificing -10% hp but increasing the attack's base damage by approximately 27.6% AND gives you a HUGE endurance discount for the attack.
Energy Melee's ET is 12.6667 BI with the next closest being TF which is 9.889 (Same as KO Blow and Seismac Smash)
It is the single hardest hitting attack in the game outside of an Assassin Strike or a Nova.
Personally, I have played EM before and after the nerfs, I have a Brute that is 50 that is EM/WP. Against higher hitpoint opponents, the set is fine especially considering the amount of stacking you can do with the disorients which will destroy an opponent's defense. People tend to ignore Stun in the set but it can stack really well if you want to disable something.
Another thing to consider too is the set has split damage between Energy and Smashing which is nice when an opponent heavily resists smashing or energy.
The set itself isn't also really lacking in terms of DPS on a single target, however, it is not the top. The set can feel inferior when someone is a heavily AOE orientated set like a SS/Fire but even then the majority of your AOE damage is coming from Rage + Burn + Blazing aura.
My point here is trying to show you guy's how a developer is going to look at it. -
No it doesn't:

As you can see in screenshot 1 I have the auto power "Incandesence" but when I transform I lose it in screenshot 2. -
Quote:Interesting, what was the range prior?* Dwarf can be shifted into while mezzed
* The ranged attacks are now 80 feet like normal ranged sets
* Toggles don't suppress while mezzed anymore, so your shields don't shut off
* Light Form was tweaked and is now perma-able resistance and mez protection
* Photon Seekers have a larger blast radius, but less damage
* The bonus damage from the Quantum Array Gun is now Negative Energy and resistible
Also what is with the auto powers? I notice that fitness works in the forms but the auto resist power does not? -
I haven't played mine (PB at 31, WS at 39) since like Issue 8 or 9... (Although I think it was pre inventions).
What buffs have they gotten since then? I have tried searching the Wiki but to no avail with the exception of:
The inherent now works in the forms
Auto Powers now work in the forms. (This one confuses me, I see the Fitness powers work but the initial auto power you get from the secondary does not, so was this stated incorrectly in the wiki?)
What other major changes were made? I always had a cool concept for my two and been thinking about playing them some but I would have to respec them and change them around since its been so long. -
