    Boom crash!

    Folks,
I don't play on your server on a regular basis, but I know you have some very good people here. I just read about the crash during the raid. It stinks, and I send my condolences.

Oh, an old SG buddy of mine is playing mainly on your server now. Quilled Queller is his main. Treat him well, he's a class act!

I believe there is an option to turn XP off, as crazy as that must sound to some folks.

I made a toon specifically for this, mainly to learn more about the powersets. This was a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

As far as getting AMs in sync, I think that if we all have hasten 3 slotted, and all have AM 3 slotted- and have them slotted the same way,(recharge redux) they should all be in sync, provided we're all the same level.

Still, it was a lot of fun throwing an attack out and getting the invalid target show on the screen because the baddies were already dead.

The biggest shame is that tanker tuesday conflicts with this time. Wish they'd move the tanker time to later or another day.

    Too many badges?

This is really in response to all of you. Thanks for your words. Really.

I think Angry Angel may have a good idea - run teams in Ouros. Running teams is something I never have enjoyed, because of the recruiting process. Everyone wants a tell. I made a bind to make it easier.

I guess there really is no rush.

Now, some advice on the IO sets interfering with damage badges.

Try a second build if you don't PvP. Stay unslotted. The acolades may still interfere, but not much. Unless you're a regen, you shouldn't have too much trouble if you do it AFK style. I'm quite unfamiliar with Villain ATs, so I can't be of any help. But, if you find your self on Liberty, Triumph or Infinity, I can show you how to set up for stuns, damage and heals.
Thanks all. I feel better now.

    Too many badges?

This is weighing on me a good bit more as GR approaches. Obviously, no details can be disclosed about that here. (at least nothing good, lol)

I left the game before or right after issue 6. I came back a couple months ago. I used to be in the top 5 on my server (liberty) and the only reason I wasn't the leader was because I hadn't been around since day 1 to get the fifth column gladiator and simply hadn't been around long enough to earn the higher influence badges.

So, I come back, and I notice that 332 is not really a respectable number of badges, as there's over 750 now.

I've gotten my badger to 580, with about 50 more ouroboring badges to get. There's some I'll never get, and I'm ok with that.

But, I've never enjoyed the villain side. I think my highest villain, of the 2 or three that I have rolled is a level 5 corruptor. Maybe I never gave CoV a fair chance.

No sense in digressing. But for me, I think I'm not going to be a badge farmer anymore. If I get them, great. If not, who cares. Unless it's an accolade that has a power that can help my character, forget about it.

Does anyone else feel like they've flooded the game with badges, just to give level 50 players something to do?

    GR and Accolades

I've got to admit it. I don't "search" the forums for answers that I know are in there "somewhere". I've found that when I do search, I get about 20 to 40 links and the time to click and read through all those is more than I care to waste. If I have a question about future game details, I'll ask it here. Player questions. I'm a player, I've a question, I'll come here.
The majority of the folks who respond are typically quite knowledgeable and seem to enjoy posting, as they usually have a large number of posts to their credit.

Now, Snow, I know that your question was rhetorical. You weren't actually expecting an answer. And I can understand your exasperation, wondering why people aren't using the forums the way they should and could. The simple answer is that some folks just want an answer. They don't want a lesson in when to use quote marks in the search field and when to use and/or.

Some of us would rather play then post. To each his own.

But, as a fellow who's been raked over the coals on the forums before, gotta think hard before asking rhetorical questions!

Now, can't we all just roll an ice blaster and play the game?
  6. No sense giving my thoughts if the problem is solved. Now go play!
  7. Well, that's the way the cookies crumble sometimes.
    Thanks for the response.
  8. I used to enjoy checking out who was clobbering which baddies, and which defenders/controllers were doing the most healing, etc.

Any word on whether they will fix these?
  9. When playing my ice blaster, I'll target through the tank when it's AV or EB time. Other than that, I find that the targets switch before the previous target is defeated.

With my fire blaster, I don't even worry about the target, unless it's a mob on the perimeter that might get tagged by one of my AoE's.

With my scrapper, I don't even notice the tank, because I'm usually on the perimeter, tackling those few that disregard the tanks taunt, monitoring the HP of lower HP characters to see if they need assistance.

With my tank, after, and if the team gives me a few seconds to collect the aggro, I usually taunt through the blaster or whoever seems to be losing HP, if they're within range.

    NPC Dialogue

My arc is finished, basically. I wanted to add some NPCs walking by and have them chatting for atmosphere and comedy. Apparently, there is either no way to do this, or I've missed it.

I know I could use a patrol, but that's just a repetition of the same dialogue if I use more than one patrol.

    Any suggestions?

    I wasn't there, didn't see anything.

However, to provide the requested explanation -

I've been in one place, only to find myself completely across the map before. It was odd, and I know a villain didn't tp me. Apparently, I was "put in my place". The mapserver thought I was supposed to be one place, my computer showed me in another. It was basically a large rubber band episode.

You sound experienced enough to identify rubber banding, so perhaps my explanation is useless.

The only other time I was "teleported" to some location I didn't authorize was during the Ritki Mothership Raid, when I touched something or went too close to something and got located to the other side of the mothership, a good distance away from it.

I can assure you that the devs, though preferring you actually play the game for the joy of it, are highly unlikely to disturb your play, whether you're afk in an old Drecks mission that has no timer, or in an AE farm mission. If you're not disturbing the play of others, I don't see the GMs wasting their time.
    Just my opinion, though.

    Applause!

I would like to thank those of you who ask the questions, and those of you who answer them.

I read something that causes me to stop and think before I publish my arc, because I hadn't even thought about the mission rewards. Tickets. I was just trying to make a couple of good missions and tell a short story. I never gave a moments thought to Lieutenants, Bosses or difficulty levels.
So, I thank you folks for helping me realize my mistake before I published. I must consider my audience.

I sit corrected. The ones that I looked at (and the three sets I've got) all do. I assumed. Shame on me. Thanks for the correction.

And to the other posters, thanks for the answers!
  14. The very rare purple IO sets all boast a 10% global recharge to all powers.

So, without hasten, an unslotted power that recharges in 100 seconds, will now recharge 10% faster, in 90 seconds. That much I get. (10% of 100 =10; 100-10=90)

Suppose I have two very rare purple IO sets - this same unslotted power that recharges now in 90 seconds, with the second set, does it now recharge in 81 seconds, or 80 seconds?

    Or none of the above?

I realize that this 1 second difference is meaningless, I only use that time to make the math easy. I'm thinking about the longer recharge time powers, like blizzard.

Oh, one more question - is there a cap on recharge reduction?

    Wondering...

About 4 years ago, when I was playing Ukase Rex my ice blaster on this server, I found myself teaming a good bit with a controller named Fertilizer. Anyone know this character? I'm sure they're on my global list, but I can't recall which one is his/her name.
I do know that when CoV hit, Fert was one of the many that jumped to Villain side and stopped playing heroes, at least for awhile.
  16. Welcome back! You're going to find that many things have changed, and most of them for the better!

    Hami Time...?

I'd like to help, but too early for me.
  18. Thanks for the response. That explains why I've not seen evidence of one. I'm not logged in at that time. I gotta get better hours or a better job.
  19. Does Infinity raid hamidon anymore? Ritki mothership raids, do they happen here? (as a server event, not on SG level)
  20. I guess that would make sense. The personal storage space has room for 50, which is sure helpful, as each character has that much space. It's a bit tedious to have to double box and all that hassle just for space to put things.

But, considering the alternative (not having anything to put in the storage in the first place) I'm just fine.

Exactly how does adding a vault help? I just put one in my base to see. My room for salvage hasn't grown. Seems like the only purpose a vault has is to store items of power - for base raids which we no longer have.

Well, I got on another team and had a lot of fun teaming with another SG. It was odd, because they were on teamspeak and I wasn't. They were talking to each other, so they played better as a group. Made my job a lot easier. Plus, there were two other defenders to ease the burden. Definitely more fun when the pressure isn't all on me.

Still, my hats off to all the defenders. It's not an easy job in the higher levels, as you pointed out. Many of these folks are still learning what they can and can't do.
  23. Thanks for the input! I figured I'd share what I chose, and why. I went with ice - not for the hibernate panic button - to be honest, unless you're teaming with someone who is safely away and has tp ally, it is only a short term solution to a longer term problem.

I picked for the added defense. With a purple inspiration, just the small one, I can handle most aggro from 3 or 4 bad guys for a short time - and with a fire blaster, that's usually all I need.

The other reason was the Flash freeze. An entire mob, held in their little bunch? I can just dash in, hit build up at my leisure? Pop a red? then a purple? then cumbustion? Fire sword circle, then inferno if needed? or fireball, depending on mob level.

Not to mention, the purple sets for sleep are far cheaper with the same bonuses as ranged damage or targeted AoE.

    Deleting SG

Please, as a player who was gone for 42 months, don't give away the SG. I started an SG, and when I returned, everything was pretty much how I left it, except I was no longer leader. The leader was someone who had been on 9 days ago - every other toon had not logged on for at least 200 days - some as long as 1000 or like myself, some toons hadn't logged in for over 1500 days.

Now, if I had kicked folks that hadn't played - I would have missed the return of another player who came back about 2 weeks after me. Essentially, my co-founder. He's never really done anything except play in SG mode, but there was never really anything to do except earn prestige.

I repeat - if you like to play with large teams, and you'd like to be a part of a large or small active SG, quit the SG and join another one. The ones who abandoned ship may return.
