  1. A couple of times today, I was invited to an incarnate trial. Upon arrival, the leader had invited too many people.

Myself, I have only rarely had a problem keeping track of who's coming and who's switching. The reason folks don't invite until in zone is because of the whole "cannot invite enemy" thing. It's time for this to stop. It's pointless.

If a trial is held in a co-op zone, then in a co-op zone, the leader should be able to invite anyone.
    If they're hidden - shouldn't matter.
    If they're an enemy - shouldn't matter.

The only thing that matters for an incarnate trial is are they level 50.

Its also the place where I find out most about my fellow CoH players. Last time I did it we chatted about the various places were are all from, scuba diving versus free diving and a whole host of other topics. It also became clear that the only reason anyone was doing it was because it was the weekly strike target. No one was doing it for "Fun".

Personally I think they should make the trial more of a challenge again and just grant you a free respec when you get to level 25.
I think this is really a pretty good idea. I don't consider myself a casual gamer. I pretty much know what powers I'll pick and how to slot them before I even roll the toon.
I do respecs because in my mind, they're fun. Not because of the waiting, but because of the only opportunity in game besides doing nothing in Atlas park where you can actually type a clear, rational sentence without trying to clobber something at the same time.

I do recall when they were much harder. Yet, I have to remind myself of a few things:
    I'm a better player now.
My slots have IO set bonuses, so my toon is better. I regen faster, I can attack faster and am less dependant on teammates for buffs/heals.
The trial is older - more people have done this countless times than previously. Back in issue 3,4,5 - it was entirely possible that half the team had never done one before.

So what about those players who have 4 travel powers because they arent' really concerned with actually winning any fights when they started to play at age 12 - but now that they're 15 or 17, they return to the game and say - no wonder I quit. My toon is garbage! If they ramp up the difficulty, these casual but...lesser players are going to have a rough time.

I suggest that the team leader use the hero corps analyst to ramp things up.
  3. I would also like this. Over time, things in game change, toons change, people change.

Imagine a kid 15 years old beginning to play this game back in 04. Now, he'd be 22. Odds are whatever "Uber' name he came up with then, he's changed, and likely he'd want to change things up.

It's really not too much to ask.

Pay for it? Why? It's nothing more complicated than a global name change.
I'd say you get one change every 2 years or so. Make it another vet reward.

Paragon Points, you say? I'llworry about those when they go live.
  4. I need all of them. But, I'm not even going to try on 2xp weekend.

    Jesus. Learn some respect/patience.
If you're going to make corrections, please do so with that persons best interest in your heart.

That being said, I was on, playing. There were no issues affecting my play. Ergo, it can be argued that whatever was happening was certainly not critical. It wasn't a server specific issue; else some would be up, others not.

So, it must be something, maybe the Database Server. I've no idea, and I really don't care what it was - except I know that it wasn't absolutely necessary. It could have waited. And, I know this to be true because I was on playing when the red announcement came on.

At least, that's the way it seems to the casual, uninformed player that I am.

I do appreciate the fact that whatever this mysterious malady is, they know that it won't take longer than one hour to repair. How they know this is beyond me, but most things are, it would seem.
  6. I can confirm that if a praetorian joins your SG and that toon has never belonged to an SG before, you get 100k bonus- but it doesn't show up as if the toon had actually earned it.
If your praetorian leaves to go to another server, there will not be any bonus. (because the first SG already got that bonus)

There has been some talk about the SG base for soloists actually transferring with you - but that's just talk. Not so much as a hint from a red name that I've seen.
  7. I pretty much agree with most of you. I'm sure once most of the player base has run it more than a couple of times, they'll go more smoothly.

The trouble is that because BAF is smoothly made with it's objectives clearly defined, and Lambda is also manageable - although the squishier toons probably don't enjoy the warehouse or the lab much - people aren't as likely to do the more challenging keyes. Now, it could be just my perspective from my one single run, but Keyes is not...intuitive. If the leader doesn't say "Go here and do this" - you'd never know to go there and do that.
  8. Well, much thanks to @tinkerbel and the sisterhood for having Synapse as their Event this Sunday. Now, I've only got a couple of lowbies that don't have task force commander.

It's been fun - but it's not quite over yet. There are a few more runs to make.

Ham Sandwich, a level 11 PB will be running a posi some time this week, and Ukase Lex, my level 21 Ice/fire blaster will also be running one, and then a synapse. When this takes place - probaby after Tuesday, as that's when Posi 1 or 2 will be the weekly TF.
  9. I've got that one - and yes, it is useful - but it's tricky during the escape phase- those dirty commandos wil confuse my pet and it debuffs me!

    Hunt Guide?

A friend needed help with Volcanic - the igneous bosses. When solo, he couldn't get any to spawn. I was solo, ran around and found one. We teamed up, and found a few more. He logged a second account in to join the team, and we got 80 more to give us the 100 required in less than 30 minutes.

I'm pretty sure I read a post somewhere that stated that spawns were a factor of team size, not server population. But, I suppose it's all the same - if the team is in the zone, the zone has a greater population.

Incidentally, I imagine the Cavern of Transcendance would be a better way to get this badge, but most players will use stealth to get this Trial done and possibly not clobber many Magmite Lords at all.
  11. I might not be able to get on until 11:30 central. An old friend who doesn't deserve any help needs some just the same. If she comes on the early part of 10-10:30, I should be able to make it back by 11. If not, well, there's always a little later.

I'm hoping I get here on time.
  12. I actually just logged in, went from Fort Trident to WW in Atlas, got some purchased items, collected some inf from sales and went into my base to craft some stuff, then went to RWZ. Then got forcibly d/c'd from server.

Whatever the problem is, there is no good excuse for it. Sure things happen - that's why they have a TEST server. To test things out before they put them on the live servers. Apparently, they just aren't testing for everything. Resources are scarce. And they might get more scarce if people can't log in to play during times when there is no scheduled maintenance.

But do you think anybody would ever play this game SO MUCH that they can get 48 level 50's in about a few months complete with all five tier 4 incarnate powers? LOL

How do you manage so many toons if you don't have alot of game time?
Casually, in about a few months? Nah. See, if you team on a daily basis for a couple of hours a day, there's no reason you can't get to 50 in about a month, month and a half. Sure, there are some people who pay their money, and only play 1 character for 1 mission, log off and log back in with another character.

Myself, I organize my toons in a couple of different ways. Ones that are leveling, ones that can get the Accolades, ones the need to be respec'd and/ or IO'd and ones that need alpha slot, and ones that need the other incarnate slots.
Different toons get play depending on my mood.
If they gave me 48 slots on one server, I guess I'd be a little irritated, 'cause I already spent some money on 5 slots - there was a sale, I think. And I haven't used them yet.

But over the last 15 months, I've gotten 7 toons to 50. Of those, only 4 are
4th tiered in Alpha. I've had another 5 50's that were 50 before those that have gotten most of the incarnate love.

And, I'm quite certain that there are hundreds more who have exceeded what little I've accomplished - but it doesn't matter. For the most part, I've enjoyed myself, and it's kept me out of trouble. I win!
  14. Congrats! Piper, eh? I guess she'll have a sonic primary?

As far as guns and knives go, I don't recommend them.

I've found that a little threat goes a long way.

"If you want to date someone, bring them by. I promise, if you use good judgement with boys, I won't go to your high school during lunch and moon everyone - after I announce whose father I am."

The sheer terror in their eyes that I would even contemplate embarrassing them in such a fashion is all the control I need.

Seriously, if I catch you trying to log in before 2XP weekend, I'm gonna unfriend you. When they're teeny weeny like that, they're just the most fun ever. It would be far more fun for me to balance my two girls in each hand than play this silly game. Savor it, enjoy it. With the other kids you have, you know they get big way too quick.

As far as weddings go, just put a little chunk of change away every couple of weeks. It'll add up. (Doesn't hurt to tell them to marry for love AND money. :P )
  15. Both of the above gave you good advice.

    Welcome back!
  16. Although it's true that I don't exemp often, there are occasions when I do. For months, I'd been wondering why the level 25,30,35 IO sets were selling for more than the level 50 IOs. Seemed to me, you got more bang for your buck with the 50s.

And yet, as I take my toons through some of the task forces that I missed, I notice my recharge % go from 160 to a laughable 10%.

I am in the process of respec-ing my fire/rad controller. There are so many cookie cutter builds - 1. Recharge and control 2. S/L soft cap defense, control, 3. S/L softcap + damage, etc.

Seems like there's a zillion different ways to build a fire/rad - and although I never really saw a problem with mine, I recognize that I've neglected to respec after inherent fitness - I can get more powers - and I've been able to find a way to save 8 slots for these new powers .

I've already decided on a build that will perma-hasten (and thus AM) and possibly cap my s/l defense.

My question is this: If I choose to slot level 30 IO sets, how much will I miss that accuracy %, damage %, etc. From 25 to 50 is 21.8% to 26.5% (on a dual purpose IO, like acc/hold)
I would imagine that this might be negligible, but then again, it might not be.
From what I understand, a little less than 5% can be a big number sometimes.

What's the prevailing logic behind this? Slot 30's? 50's?

(obviously, I'll slot purple sets if I can, but there are only so many sets of those I can use. )
  17. So far, I've only got one toon that is up to this task.
By ready, I mean 50+ from alpha, along with the + that stems from Lore and Destiny. (My ice/ice blaster)

We can never really know which ATs are specifically preferred at GO time, but from what I've read, an empath brings a lot to the table. I just did get mine tier 4 on alpha, so it shouldn't take long to get him to 3rd tier on the other slots at least, assuming the rng shows some compassion.

My condolences on working the late shift, but better that, than no work at all.

Until Saturday at x time occurs and even after it does, let me know if I can help. I'm going to try and lead several BAF and Lambdas on a daily basis to at least get my other toons prepared for Keyes.
  18. Well, I sure can't say what the problem is from here, but a machine that old makes an upgrade sound like a good idea - especially when I'm not the one having to foot the bill.

That being said, there will likely always be more toons that will need these taskforces. By the end of this coming weekend, every toon of mine that's high enough to do Numina's task force should have the Task Force commander Accolade.

So, don't sweat it if your computer can't make it. There will always be some more taskforces.
  19. Doc,
I'm not at all sure what happened - maybe you posted while I was posting?

    Regardless,

    1. Imperious Rex
    2. SuperBull
    3. Geronimo69
    4. Doc Hornet
    5. Raven Lord

Worst case, that's enough to do posi. I'm pretty sure we'll pick up enough at the time if need be.
  20. Oh, false labor! Well, you still did the right thing, Geronimo. Heh, I remember when my wife got tired of carrying the twins and made me drive her to the top of Pike's Peak so the barometric pressure would induce labor.

You're always welcome to come along, as you should already know.

So me, RLord, SBull, G69 makes 4 for several lower level tfs
this Saturday at 11am Central time.

Assuming real life doesn't interfere with anyone, of course.
  21. Next weekend, I hope to get these on my ill/rad, Imperious Rex. (and for the zillionth time, I created this toon well before Cimerora. Back in issue 5, maybe. They should give me a free rename.)

    Posi
    Synapse
    Citadel

Not necessarily in any order. As for a starting time, Raven, you call it.

That is exactly right! Thanks, Doc! And thanks to Raven, cause blasting wouldn't have been nearly as much fun without you.

  23. First, I would like to let those of you that didn't participate in this know that even though I missed teaming with you (well most of you), the folks that came out not only played well, but were just nothing shy of wonderful.

A special thanks to @cera frost and @night's dawn who ran pretty much the whole day with me.

@pw made an appearance as did @pandala anderson and @mystic fortune,
@Doc Hornet and a blast from the past, former raid leader, @dianeces.

That's certainly not all who showed up - we had siberian tiger tank show up, and sadly, his name escapes me. He did a great job, too. I'm even motivated to make an ice tank now - but I'm gonna wait for issue 21.

I'll call it courtesy - I've just not seen it extended so generously before. One fellow with green skin and bolts out of his neck was a little late, and team generously agreed to reform. Another was a couple minutes late for a different run, and all agreed to reform.

All in all, it was Positron 1 and 2 with Confidence, my emp/elec defender
Positron 1 and 2 again with Scipio my Spines regen scrapper
Synapse with Ukase Max my fire/fire blaster - this got him the task force commander accolade - finally. It only took me about 6 years.
Another Synapse with Scipio again - now he just lacks Citadel for his tfc.

I still have 4 toons that need synapse and 3 that need Posi.

Tomorrow is another day. I'm wiped out. Too many clocks in one day.
  24. My apologies, folks, I got my wires crossed. Another posi at 11, then synapse
  25. Posi 1 took a bit longer than expected, causing a delay for the 11am synapse. Monitor the usual channels Lb, LFA, SHF for updates.
