Quote:Sadly, it does not save everything, and it does not save everything correctly. It refuses to save the /vault window, and it will not put my Inspiration tray at the bottom of the screen, where I keep it.A quick tip as a workaround for the windows bug. The slash commands to load and save your windows positions are as follows:
/wdw_load (loads the positions in COH_INSTALL_DIRECTORY\wdw.txt)
/wdw_load_file filename (loads the positions in the specified file name)
/wdw_save (saves the current positions to COH_INSTALL_DIRECTORY\wdw.txt)
/wdw_save_file filename (lsaves the current positions to the specified file name)
It's not a great solution but until this gets fixed setting up a bind to load the positions file will at least give you a one-button fix.
Note: It also saves colors, and makes the colors your new default. So, for example if you have different colors on different characters (I still use the blue and red skins for heroes and villains) when you load them you will get whatever you saved from the character you saved it on.
You can work around this using the /wdw_save_file <filename> and /wdw_load_file <filename> commands, to save off different files (such as for different characters). However, this command is something of a steaming pile of dung, as it does not save all your windows. (A window that is closed or hidden is often completely omitted from the saved file.)
I have spent about an hour trying to work up a save file that restores my windows how I want them. I am having trouble because I can't find the (correct) names of all the windows.
Anyone know the name of the vault window? It is neither "vault" nor "storedsalvage" (despite the latter clearly being what it is saved as). -
Quote:The lack of a working copy tool dissuaded me from testing this beta at all. I know there were things I could have tested on brand new characters, but it wasn't the stuff I was interested in testing. So I didn't test anything. Two words: PLAYER SUMMIT.
It's obvious that they wanted Media Blitz out the door before the summit so the table could be cleared, so to speak. Also, my personal belief is that not enough actual testing got done during this particular beta, which is why the update is missing one of its key components and so many other bugs are now popping up.
That the copy tool has been down for as long as it has been is pretty ridiculous. Maybe, just maybe the backlash against how shoddy this push was will help convince them to fix it so more people can/will test. -
Does it really surprise anyone that they omitted the AE changes from the notes? Note that I also think it's dumb, but it's a dumb thing they've been doing forever.
Edit: If they needed MARTy to figure out the rez and ambush changes, there really is no hope. (For anything they do.) -
I can't possibly imagine it staying like it is, but yeah, a lot of folks I know are going to love the KB bug.
I'm glad I didn't add any PvP defensive items to my base for decorative purposes. >.> -
Quote:While monitoring is part of it, MARTy is to prevent existing exploits from being so radical that they have to shut down the servers as a reaction to them simply going live.Wasn't this the sort of thing MARTy was supposed to prevent? Kneejerk changes (even if this was fairly slow) that hurt more than they help?

Quote:That one is squarely aimed at farming maps. One of the things you do with those is run in at the damage cap on inspiration overload, and it helps propel you to max sustainable Fury on a Brute.Missing patch note on inspirations (not sure about other buffs. Too annoyed right now.)
INSPIRATIONS:
Effect of Inspirations taken BEFORE entering an AE mission will be stripped off the character.
So, have a boss fight you're buffing up for and hoping to have other insps in the tray as you go on? Forget it.
(Note I'm not defending anything. I'm only noting the near-certain origin of that change.) -
The window thing has reared its head for me. It'd be less annoying if the /wdw_save_file command actually saved everything, but it doesn't. So I'm having to hack the file by hand, which is incredibly annoying.

Quote:Citation needed.Are you being coy?
The point of mid issue releases is about Incarnate content.
Besides, this happens to contain numerous changes, including modifications to both of the newer trials and a bucket load of new incarnate powers.
Do I think it's silly to not include the trial for which the release is named? Yes. Am I happy to get the rewards changes and the new incarnate powers? Damn yes. Am I sad that we didn't get the new trial? Not deeply. I wasn't excited about it to start with.
Am I pleased that this went live with reported bugs? No, I am decidedly not happy with that part.
But your complaint, which you are desperately trying do defend, is that you dislike the downtime. I think what we got was worth the downtime. The idea that any crow needs to be eaten over that is stupid. -
Quote:Oh, I don't know, maybe all the other stuff that was in the release. For all the people making fun of us complaining about the down time eat some crow! What is the point of this excessive downtime if they are NOT launching Media Blitz?
But you don't really care, so why are you asking? -

I have things moved around from the default interface, but not resized or recolored. What all is broken?
-
Not a fan of the replacement for the badge stuff. It's increased the number of clicks and mouse movements to get to anything. As someone who looks at/for badges regularly using the in-game interface, the new interface is painful. Having a way to see some of the other, non-badge stuff is nice, but adding it to the badge interface made a mediocre interface worse.

Yep, just caught that on another thread and came here to correct myself.

Quote:Looking at the examples, it would make the set less globally applicable compared to the other AT sets. Yes, there are lots of sets out there with bonuses that suck or just don't apply to everyone that use them. However, looking at the AT set examples, that doesn't apply nearly as strongly to most of them. Just about any example character of mine of any of the ATs for whom the AT sets are pictured in the link above could get some benefit from every set bonus shown. The only exceptions would be folks that are actually already at some of the caps for the things shown, which I consider a happy problem.Well then IF it doesn't, just focus on the nice 8.75 or whatever recharge you get instead of the heal. If we're all being honest here, most of the time we are only after 1-2 bonuses per set, and count anything else as icing on the cake. I don't see the difference here.

Quote:Sadly, they can't separate all the stats. They can separate the things that a power does to its targets, but they can't change certain other aspects, like end cost, max number of targets, or activation time. (Well, they probably could change activation time now, with what the tech introduced with Titan Weapons.)CoH separated it's PvE and PvP stats in issue 13. PvE and PvP have been two completely separate games ever since and have no relation to each other. This means that any nerfs that occured in PvE were do to PvE concerns only and cannot be laid at PvPs feet, as much as some people would love to do that.
I don't think that factors into the specific example of Hibernate and "nophase", however. -

Quote:The people who are interested in such things will say because a boosted 30 stops granting set bonuses at level 27, where a bound IO will work down to the set's minimum level -3.Useless as in, why buy bound when you can spend less money, buy low level IOs, and boost them for the same or better results. Low level IOs can be had on the cheap sometimes as well if you scrounge. I would definitely rather spend a few bucks and boost the crap out of low levels then spend a lot of money on 6 enh that max out at 50 or 40 or 35 or whatever. For sure, aboosted 30 gives more enh value than a bound 30, for a given enh that maxes at 30.
That's not that useful to me, but it's not completely without use. -
I'm not seeing anything available for download in the patcher/launcher, so I'm thinking it's not a patch at all. That might not be correct, but usually anything for the clients is available earlier in the downtime.

Quote:I preferred Miami Vice to The A-Team. (Yeah, showing my vintage there.) I don't have a problem with gritty, depressing stories. Failure, unfairness and death happen, and it's reasonable and even valuable to have them happen in fiction, even [edit]fluff entertainment fiction, which those example TV shows both were. I do get that there's a major difference - no one in Miami Vice was a character I created, such that the show's writing could muck with a concept I felt was my own. But you don't seem to be objecting (just) to what they did or didn't give you a choice to do, but rather with what happened whether you had a role in it or not. Here's the thing: I'm done waiting. I've waited for this game to get out of its depressing rut since I18 launched and I found myself crushing dreams, killing people and having to choose between two doomed ideologies. I sat through First Ward and the starting contacts in the revamped zones, and it's just more of the same depressing, dreary narrative that I'm simply sick and tired of. I don't play this game to bring my own spirits down, so I'm done.
It could have been written better and still have had a depressing outcome. And I think that's OK. -
If this level of downtime is causing you to consider your options, I think you had a foot out the door to start with.

Quote:That's a risk with any old software. If the forum software is out of date, would that leave it open to attacks? Just curious after reading TonyV's posts about the recent stuff that's happened to the Titan Network
The issue is that all software, new or old, tends to have various vulnerabilities due to bugs or just oversights in its design. As new versions of software come out, they patch known bugs and remedy old oversights (and introduce new bugs and oversights). Old bugs and oversights tend to be known about by more people, just because they've been around longer. That makes it more likely someone may create a way to exploit them. The older your software, the more vulnerabilities you may have with working exploits circulating for download or just to read about, and therefore the more likely you are to suffer an eventual attack. -
Quote:I use Firefox, but I've never needed to resubscribe to feeds. I just reload them. They're only broken if you're using the Hero style. Switch to Villain, re-subscribe, and they'll be just fine. That's what I had to do.
It seems to me that the build-in RSS feed reader in Firefox is cookie aware. As mentioned by others, changing to the villain skin fixes the broken feeds for me. But there are other things I've noticed in the past - if I'm logged in, the Dev digest feed will show me dev posts in locked down forums (like Beta forums) that I have access to, but if I'm not logged in, it won't. -
