Quote:...not if Laser decides steal them.I assure you that you can use any buffs you want on the hami raids I run.
True story: I was on my lvl 50 emp defender while Laser was on his lvl 31 blaster. This was a few years ago before the everyone being auto-SK'd to the max level of the task force. We were rolling a Manticore and I was giving all of my buffs to Laser so he could at least hit something. Second to last mish, one intelligent hero finally had enough and screamed out in team chat (yes, he used all caps) that Laser was stealing all of the buffs.
I tried to explain but then the team leader joined in...and then another joined in. We could easily see where this was going so Laser and I began to get creative. Right before the last mish, the team leader boots Laser and I from the team...leaving them with one healer/debuffer. Turns out that the healer/debuffer got upset that we got booted and he quit the team, too. This left them with nothing but four melee types to try and take on Hopkins.
They never completed it. Laser and I still laugh about it to this day. -
Laser and Trix was able to sum it up my thoughts better than I did. It was clouded after I heard the threats against my friend...plus the hockey playoffs were on (did I mention that?).

Sorry I'm a Rob-Come-Lately to the party but I still feel the need to chime in here.
Reading Slash's comments...well, I'm amused. He/She says many of the same things that the most successful leaders of our history have said.
The Populous needs to be guided. The working class needs their boundaries.
--I had typed something really, really mean right here, but I've changed my mind. It's not worth it.--
Where the heck did this crap come from that activating your Destiny power is contributing to the lag? I can't even begin to tell you how flawed that thinking is. Might as well tell people that a fire blaster's Rain of Fire or a defender's Shadow Fall causes lag. Maybe we just all take down Hami with the Rocks that are dropped during special events.
I think what really burns me is that you are accusing Lieran of trying to grief the Hami raid. Here's some things we need to get out of the way first...
- Lieran is my friend and I will fiercely defend her against all comers.
- Lieran is one of the most contributing members of the Freedom server that I have ever encountered.
- Lieran is one of the most friendliest and easy-going members of the Freedom server
Now on to what I've got to say. Who in the world are you to threaten to "blackball" anyone from future Hami raids? What divine authority has invested you with the mantle of leadership? I certainly missed that announcement from the Devs.
I've been on this server for over six years now and I've seen all kinds of "griefing" happen during a Hami raid (Section's post has the most beautiful method I've ever been witness to). Monsters spawning, stealth blaster's spamming Confront in a crowd full of squishes, worthless pet spawning...you name it, I've seen it.
I have no idea what your global is or what toons you have on Freedom...frankly, I don't care. All I know is that when players like you start to shout out orders backed up by threats, it brings out the creative in me. I'll do everything in my power to force that wrench between the rusty gears that you call a team.
Sorry if my thoughts seem distracted, I'm doing something more important right now like watching the hockey playoffs. I have no idea what the heck the Caps are doing going down three in the series against Tampa but they need to start playing like the #1 Eastern Conference seed. My Blues never made it so I've got to cheer for someone...I've finished cheering for Boston as they have already eliminated the Habs and I've been feeling patriotic this week.
Man, Tundy must be going nuts right now.
Oh, yeah...I forgot about un-important you. I'm standing by my friend, who I know and trust. You managed to come off as some self-important hack who desires nothing more than to establish your own little "virtual empire" by threat of ostracism. -
Quote:I was the team leader but somehow everyone is referring to it as the "Bunni/Morna" team.I had a great time on the MoLambda runs, thanks for letting me crash the party. Both runs were a blast, though having the second kin on the second run made life a lot easier. Cycling 15 speed boosts with fulcrum shift with everything else was intense, but only something I needed to go through once. Plus the second time I got to be on Team Bunni/Morna so irregardless of getting the badge it was "winning".
I'm cool with that.

I'll be there at the MoLambda with my Invul/EM tank.

Well, one or two of the players got a chuckle tonight. They thought they would be cute so they decided to use the pacification and acid grenade. As a result, it screwed me and a lot of others on the team out of four badges. We were just rocking away and someone thought that they would screw us. Don't worry...I know most of the people on the team and I know that they didn't screw us over. The ones that I don't know...well, time will tell.
I've never understood the humor behind intentionally screwing someone over like that. It's the same kind of humor that takes joy in hurting others. Perhaps one day your mother will be walking down the sidewalk in the rain and I might think that it would be just absolutely hilarious to drive through that huge muddy puddle she just happens to be standing next to.
But, you know what? We're going to run it again without you and this time we'll get the badges...just like your mother can take a shower and dry off. Doesn't make a whole lot of difference as there is no way you can stop us next time.
Residentx_EU, I would like to urge you to run it again the same time next week. Only this time, everyone on the team has to be vouched for by a trusted member of the team. Additionally, have everyone pass their grenades to the team leader. Those that don't will earn a permanent place on my global ignore list.
To everyone who tried for the badges, thank you. -
I'll be there with my tank.
-
I'll be there with my Invul/EM/Awesome tank.
-
Thanks. I'll take a look at it. I just didn't quite understand some of the values of choosing certain powers and the effectiveness of the types of enhancements you would want to slot.

Anyone have a good build for a rad/rad defender? I'm looking for monster debuff in the primary and tohit in the secondary. Ancillary power pools would be flight (hover and fly), concealment (stealth and invis), teleportation (recall friend) and the entire leadership pool.
If you could post the mid's, it would be great. Tanks and blasters, I can do blindfolded but I'm having trouble creating a build for my defender.
Thanks. -
Quote:What I'm made about is I couldn't log into the server to harvest my crops and they all withered and died. I think I need to file a claim. What is wrong with you Devs? How could you let this happen? There is only one year of XP left in the game!!!! IS THAT WHY YOUR SERVERS WON'T LET US ON?!?!?! You should buy XP from zones that regulate their XP prices, instead you let the unregulated zones gouge you for your XP on a daily basis. So do you Mods suggest we conserve XP by not playing? J-Force can teach the Freedom Server how to play hybrid style. We only earn half the XP/hour compared to normal toons. Mods, you need to give us a means of of measuring our XP footprint. I will then trade you XP offsets for your crappy servers. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Oh, VISIT MY FARM!!! -
Tell me about it. I had actually typed out a long reply (it would have been the first reply to this thread) endorsing the Tennies and encouraging others to seek them out for membership.
However, I was afraid that my VIP membership card to the J-Fort lounge would have been revoked, my J-Gym locker filled with menthol shaving cream and my Lucky Charms cereal stash in the J-Kitchen switched to bran flakes.
To everyone else...yes, the Tennies have it going on. They are professional, knowledgeable, and generally a great bunch to team with and have patience like you wouldn't believe. How do I know?
Because they team with the J-Force and they don't complain when they teleport us back to the mission from the hospital. -
I'd love to join but I'm taking my nephews to watch the Blues whup up on the Red Wings when they come to town.
-
Got it. Thanks for the run, E.
By the way, I think this was a lot easier with the level shift. -

Ever since I created a few characters last year that possessed a damage PBAoE, I began to encounter problems with the ping rate slowly rising the more and more I played. I was cursing everyone from my modem to my ISP to (shudder) even the developers. As I attempted to seek solace within the community, I found that I was a leper and all alone.
My problem was that as the longer I played, the more and more my computer would "hang" (or "freeze") every time damage from the PBAoE would tick. It got so bad, it was comparable to fighting by screen shot (one frame every two to three seconds). And it was only my character that would do it. Last night after getting to my "fighting by screen shot" mode, my friend was kind enough to log on to see if it would happen when he used his PBAoE. He rounded up two large mobs, I jumped in beside him and he hit his PBAoE. The game was running perfectly smooth...until I hit my PBAoE. By this time (according to netgraph), my ping was over 1,100.
Alas, my poor fire tank and my electric tank were suffering...but from what?
My original computer specs...
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Memory

I had a 22" widescreen monitor, Fatality sound card and a few other things in there, along with your basic cable company issued Motorola modem and Lynksys broadband router. I thought that I had surfed one too many questionable websites and it was acting as a bot but scan after scan with Microsoft Security Essentials, Spybot and AVG, nothing came back as a definitive clue. Anyway, I wanted to build a new rig since this one was a couple of years old so I went out and bought new parts.

I also bought a new Motorola Surfboard modem (the other one died after six years of faithful service) and an HP 27" LCD monitor (it's nice...it's very nice) hooked up with HDMI. After a fresh install of Windows 7, I copied the updater, downloaded the game and took off running to see if the issue had been resolved.
It hadn't.
For the past few weeks, I've been going crazy trying to figure out what in the heck could be wrong. Then while my mind was wandering in the shower this morning, reviewing the basics of my problem, it suddenly hit me.
Three or four years ago, I had wanted to see what kind of damage my blaster was putting out after Enhancement Diversification (ED) was released. To review them in my own sweet time, I had enabled the chat log.
DING, DING, DING, DING, DING!!!
Yes, for the past couple of years, I had my chat log enabled recording everything that happened in the game...which includes damage given. Imagine your computer trying to constantly update an ever growing text file. This explains why when I start out, it's fine but as it progresses, it slows down and freezes up. After I disabled my chat log, I was able to play for two hours this morning and my ping never got above 150 and no frame freezing.
The size of the chat log last night when I logged off was 5MB. Thanks to CutePDF (awesome FREE program I recommend), I converted it to a PDF. Thankfully, I don't own a printer or else I'd be hip deep in paper right now.
The total length of this file after two hours of play time? 1,336 pages.
So the reason why I am posting this is because there may be another poor unfortunate soul out there that suffered from the same issue I did. I searched the forums (I have poor search-fu, by the way) and didn't find an answer so perhaps my long-winded story can assist them.
If you are experiencing slow down, lag or frame freezing when you use your PBAoE damage aura, then check your settings to see if you have the chat log enabled. Disable it and you should be good to go.
Hope this helps,
R. -
Thanks for the badge run, TO. I was worried about when I was going to get that badge.
-
Got my nukes and shivans. Just as an FYI to everyone on the team...everyone needs to have these temps or else there is a good chance that I'll back out. I'm not a big fan of Warburg and spending the time to get those nukes.
-
Hey, TO! Put me down with my tank. I'll work on getting nukes and shivans, too.
-
Why are you telling me that you've got 1201 badges then? According to your own opinion, you shouldn't count veteran badges or even anniversary badges.
Quote:It is fortunate that the Dev's opinion is more relevant than yours. Thanks for pointing that out and validating Turg's accomplishment.Fortunately some people's opinions about badges are more relevant than others. -
Quote:Well, for what it's worth I don't think your opinion is worth anything. You can say the same thing about anniversary badges since they are "kinda" like a veteran badge. For what's it's worth I don't think Vet badges should count towards these "badge totals".
They are intrinsically player/account badges and should have never had any relation to individual characters.
And I'm saying that as an 81 month Veteran who loves to collect badges. *shrugs*
What counts is when you open up your information window and click on the Badges tab. See that number at the top? That's how many badges you've got. There's no little asterisk there that leads to a statement saying "except for veteran badges".
A badge is a badge is a badge.
Congrats, Turg! I'm almost there myself. -
I got to kill doppleganger Turg.....my life is complete.

Uh, you know there is an auction system in the game, right?
If not, then I'll give you five Inert Gas salvage and 2 million influence.
(If you think I'm being supercilious...well, I'll let you Google for the definition and you can take it from there) -
Being as sick and twisted as I am, I was listening to Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sounds of Silence" last night on my headphones while destroying endless mobs with my fire/fire/fire blaster thinking this game really needs to have a slow motion playback of the mission ending fight.
Just a thought...
