Quote:Magitech firearms? Not exactly a unique concept. His "magic"/mutant ability isn't as effective offensively as a gun would be?Okay, I got a problem with redraw, but I'm trying to get over that. But part of that problem has grown rather than gotten better.
Lets take a character concept I have for a AR/Energy Blaster. Why are half his powers him with a gun, the other hslf he is doing wizardry? But wait, it gets worse. When Incarnated his Judgement, etc, will be more wizardy. Er, ...why is this guy using a rifle if he is a wizard? super-being? god? -
Quote:The short answer? This isn't LOTRO or DDO. And both of those games have pay-for classes.I went and sent a ticket but was told to come here so I can find out why Masterminds where made unavailable unless you do one of the three things to get them.
Honestly why couldn't they do the whole LOTRO or DDO and made it available to people who already purchased the game? -

Quote:True, but efficiency drops way off around the mid-20s.Frankly, I feel that making this a Trial with auto-exemplaring was a mistake. Oh, sure, with JUST the sewers, people were still skipping the very low levels, but you ran into a wall of diminishing returns when you simply outlevelled the stuff in the sewers. You can't outlevel a Trial that exemplars you down to its own level.

I dunno. The bacon looks weird, and not just because it's shaped into "roses". I think "gross" was right.
I prefer my bacon a little soft cooked. Those roses, though....something's just wrong with the bacon. Looks raw, honestly. Like they took a torch to it at best just enough to give a little brown to the outside, but didn't really cook it at all. -
Quote:You realize that "net" means after all adjustments, right? ( http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/net Specifically the first "adverb" definition: "remaining after deductions, as for charges or expenses ( opposed to gross): net earnings." ) "Gross" is the raw figures before any adjustments... ( http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/gross "without deductions; total, as the amount of sales, salary, profit, etc., before taking deductions for expenses, taxes, or the like ( opposed to net): gross earnings; gross sales." )The numbers are available from NCsoft Quarterly reports (freely available from http://global.ncsoft.com/global/ir/quarterly.aspx )
And the numbers are "Net sales from the online games" so pure raw income. -
First, where did you get these figures? Second, again: IS THAT RAW INCOME OR PROFIT?
-
Are you looking at raw income or profit? Taking into consideration multi-moth sub discounts? "RAF" time? etc, etc, etc.
-
Quote:As single packs by themselves? Maybe not. Packed in a Super Booster Pack ( Like the origin packs, etc? )? Absolutely.Stuff that is honestly... not worth it, would of been included in the sub as free content.
Pre-Freedom, could you of seen the Circles of Thorn set, Fireman helmet, or even the Carnival of light set, released as a paid for extra?
Multiply that by 5. You'll have a more accurate sub count pre-Freedom. Although, an MMO can certainly survive at 30k. Some plug along at 10k. They don't thrive, but the "death threshold" is much lower than 30k. -
Quote:The new sets on test? Yeah, you're horribly mistaken.Sorry to sort of double post here, but Dark Assault, and Dark Affinity are pretty much just proliferated sets and as such free across the board like with Dark Manipulation last issue.
That is, of course, unless I'm horribly mistaken. I'm pretty sure I'm not, but you never know and all. -

Quote:So much for:For some reason I thought the new Travel powers were 800 points, not 600, but that's still way too much.
Quote:If power sets (and frreakin' travel powers!) weren't $10 a pop, I'd conceded the point, happily. -
-
Costumes: 400 points each, about $5. They were generally the major draw of a booster pack anyway... More frequent? Huge plus.
Quote:More expensive and more frequent.
Quote:Aside from the two expansions, we never had to pay for power sets. Now?
We've had three $10 power sets and one free one since Freedom launched. More expensive, and, so far, more frequent. Dark Control will be free, but I'll be happily shocked if Staff Melee is.
Quote:You're missing the point. Just because we sometimes had to pay for things, it's now constant. On average, more money is coming out of my pocket to have a little more content. Obviously this is why Freedom is financially successful: they get more money from VIPs, and you get money from Premium/Freems when you got nothing from them before. -
Quote:Like?Who started with the name-calling? And you haven't said anything to refute my point yet. Regardless of whether or not we actually have to pay for Base features a la carte, the fact remains that we have to pay for a lot of things we used to get for free.
-Costume sets? ...wait, no, we had to pay for a lot of those before.
-Travel powers? ...err, no, same.
-Nifty emotes? ....nope, see above.
-Power sets? ...several free with VIP subscriptions, oh, and there were several powers that only came with expansion purchase before ( GR came with several. Then there were whole ATs that were only available with a CoV purchase before CoH and CoV were merged )
-Zone revamps? ....nope, all those are either free with VIP so far or purchased as part of the GR expansion that was broken into parts and put into the Market with Freedom. Now you can pick and choose which GR parts you want... But those who already had GR don't have to pay a dime extra.
Yanno, I'm drawing a blank. Maybe you can enlighten me here....
You made an unsubstantiated "DOOOOM!" claim. I feel I went easy on you with my response. Your "realism" had no basis in reality. Which makes it obvious that word doesn't mean what you seem to think it means.
Edit: And as for the maturity comment... Well, the "fixed" nonsense is playground pettiness, nothing more. -
Awesome and awesome? If that's the results we get from Korean devs in training, a lotta Western companies would do well to hire 'em now.
-
....several new powersets, a zone revamp in the works offering viable Incarnate soloing, and a slew of balancing.... All these are "cosmetic"?
You didn't say anything about "framework of the game" ( which is in itself a pretty subjective thing. Some players would consider powersets and zone revamps "framework" and others might consider them "fluff" ) in your initial question. You just said non-cosmetic improvements. -
