Quote:Just tested this. Yes, something changed.
I can no longer use my binds to drop forms and execute powers like I used to. In the best case, this is a bug that will get fixed quickly. In the worst case, it's an intentional fix for some reason and from now on I'll have to hit the buttons twice from now on.
Either way, I'm pretty honked off.
Human Form wins again. -
Quote:I am not seeing a train of thought at all. It's like some of the things you said/did last month, or before weren't said, I guess, I can't predict ya anyways.
You're actually going with relying more on control, active mitigation, a bit more? (less defense says yes).
What you've got now would be something, closer to the human side of my Warshade, except with better rechg/damage/acc being more expensive and with Dwarf and Nova still in my build I am to hell with defense entirely.
It's all about trying new things. I like that I've built my Warshade in pretty much every appealing way possible. I was curious to see how low/moderate defense would interact with high HP/regen and of course capped resists.
What I've mainly been doing with this build so far is Incarnate trials- Taking alpha strikes without buffs all throughout, soloing groups of adds/Warwalkers on Keyes, etc. This little build has been holding up pretty nicely, and I've been enjoying it more than past specs. When all else fails I can even hit Nebulous Form and click a couple of greens.
And I don't need no stinkin' forms. -
I think the letter writer is Stone Daemon... But if that's not the right answer, it's definitely Tyrant.

Hey, I'm quoted in your signature!
I've never had that happen to me before.

Quote:Play more.
One, inspirations drop often enough that nobody should ever run completely out of them fighting normal enemies.
Quote:Two, at higher levels (and higher difficulty settings), when you start fighting archvillains (and no, not the ones in DFB -- real archvillains), you start relying on inspirations more, not less. That hole in your defenses against psionic damage becomes a lot more problematic against certain enemy groups. Running out of endurance means instant death as eight different toggles drop all at once while you're surrounded by twenty-plus angry Malta, not just "now I have to wait a few seconds to attack again." Accuracy inspirations are the difference between being blinded or not being blinded. Damage inspirations are the only thing allowing you to do damage faster than your opponent is regenerating it.
Quote:I can't get behind this one. People, especially new players, need to get out of the sewers and play the game, yes, but don't punish everyone. Personally, I've been playing for years, and because I'm not all that interested in low-level stuff I've seen a thousand times anymore, my SOP lately has been to take a new character through DFB runs until level 22 (when I can buy single-origin enhancements and hopefully have a few tip missions ready to go), then start playing "for real" in Talos. And it actually makes me more interested in my new character, not less. Because I don't have to slog through Twinshot's arc or run off to see Detective Wincott or do any of that other tutorial stuff again. I can skip it and get right to the point where I have a proper attack chain, and my defenses are starting to shape up, and so on. -
I just think that 'normalizing' this to work with right mouse would be a better default setting- Once again, personal opinion.
Quote:2) I THINK there is already a way to do this, in the option menu, but I don't know what it is.
Quote:3) How new it this other game? I'm not sure if this old clunker of a game could handle something like that. Would be nice, though.
Quote:4) Already in the game. Use both the left and right buttons to click somewhere, and you move there. It does turn on auto-run after a bit, though, but I think you can turn that off.
Quote:5) Maximum? I'm not sure. Starting with 10 should be enough, but definitely more than three-four.
Quote:8) I don't think that this is a good idea. If you don't want to run it, there's a lot of other things to do in the game. If people like running it, why stop them? -
Meh, I don't think TopDoc is in a position where he would benefit from intentionally ripping anyone off. He's a respected member of the community and he shares everything he learns with everyone else, plus he's clearly rich enough that he most likely won't even have anything to spend most of his profits on for a good while. The accusation just doesn't seem to 'fit.'

I started a new character this afternoon, and I've been keeping in mind how the game might look to a new/free player. I'm almost to level 13 right now and I wanted to share the things that came to mind- Some features/things I would change to make the game easier to get into. I'm not saying that any of this is absolute at all, it's just my personal opinion.
1.) Unlock the camera from back view. I really think that the camera should be able to spin freely by holding down the right mouse button.
2.) Stop the camera from "auto-returning" to back view every time a power is fired. It makes the game feel clunky and awkward, especially in an enclosed space. Having to hold right mouse at all times is not comfortable at all.
3.) Add competent auto-routing to missions/objectives. I recently started playing another MMO that allows for you to double click the location of a quest and be auto-routed to it. It's very competent, in that you don't need to actively jump/redirect yourself like the "follow" function in our game, which is pretty horrible. This other game accounts for and handles environmental obstacles on its own as part of auto-routing.
4.) Implement click to move. This comes from many other games, and I think it's a good feature to have. Some people like moving with WSAD and I'm not saying that should be removed from this game, but I think the option for both would add a lot in terms of making the game more accessible to a variety of potential players.
Edit, because I forgot stuff.
5.) Allow new characters to start with maximum inspiration inventory. Inspirations are a big part of the low level game, especially for soloists which I think many people are likely to start off as. I guess it just seems illogical to me for inspiration storage to grow as you begin to need it less.
6.) Make the training missions begin at level 1, as the first contact available. I don't understand why you would have to "go play the game for a bit, and then we'll show you how afterwards." I just think it was a silly design decision.
7.) Add more TF's to the LFG cue. Death From Below is overplayed because of its convenience, many people get to high levels without having played anything else, which leads me to...
8.) Limit Death From Below runs to only a few times a day per character. Once again the other MMO I have been playing has a low level trial similar to our DFB, but the number of times per day it can me run are restricted. I think this is a good idea. -

Xary, I'm digging both of the new looks.
My Warshade has a void costume, it's pretty much an exact replica, aside from how little he is. I can post a picture later, he even has the void rifle temp power to go with it.
I made a new Warshade who is currently level 11 to participate in the weekly Kheld event on Protector since I moved my main to Freedom. I made the new one a girl to capitalize on the sash costume piece as soon as it comes out.
I'm using the Samurai belt as a stand in for the sash right now, but this is the look I came up with- I was going for the classic Kheldian/comic book look while trying to not be too generic.

Quote:This has been talked about a lot on the Kheld boards. To summarize, the Damage enhancement from Nucleos enhance damage resistance. The Nucleo slotting lets you cap out your resists from 0-85% with 5 Eclipse targets. My build actually caps energy and fire resistance with 4 targets, and gets close to capping Smashing resistance with 4 targets. Those are the only resists I monitor so I'm not sure about the rest.Quick question for THB - Why the Hami's in Eclipse? I must be missing something (and probably am since I don't have much WS experience).
Quote:Mids seems to be bugged on the eclipse +Res values too...170% res to everything base. -
I wanted to post here again because I just made a second Warshade on Protector in order to participate in future Kheldian Fridays events.
My new Warshade is currently almost level 7. I haven't died once, and I've used rest twice. I've done nothing but solo through the Shadowstar arc.
Here's what has been working for me:
I took Bolt first. My next power choice was Eye. At level 4 I took Orbiting Death. I also have access to the Nemesis Staff and Sands of Mu, so I benefited from a good amount of attacks early. Those stopped playing a role at level 6.
At 6, I took nova and respeced. My new power choices became: Bolt, Gravity Shield, Hasten, and Nova and put all my slots into Nova attacks. I don't have any enhancements yet.
Like I told you earlier, just killing the Quants/Voids first really negates any risk. Nova with Hasten has a seamless attack chain, so you can move at a very quick pace. It can also fly above everything and hardly ever get hit. So, take Nova. Do it.
Of course right after posting this, I die for the first time. That has more to do with me being insane and aggroing a whole room at a time and less to do with any flaw in the archetype, though.
I should also mention that I set up some tray binds for switching forms/etc:
/bind n "powexectoggleon Dark Nova$$Gototray 2"
/bind m "powexectoggleoff Dark Nova$$Gototray 1"
Those will switch me in and out of Nova respectively and take me to the tray with the powers appropriate for my current form.
/bind shift "powexecname shadow step"
That will let me teleport around by pressing the shift key and left clicking. -
Quote:Ouch.....think my most expensive toon is about 7bn and thats my ambush farmer that is basically useless now with the AE nerfs.......
25-30 on one toon...wish i had that sort of money
I only spent like 2 billion on my SS/Fire Brute, but he's still able to cap his tickets per run in about a minute. Ambush farms are definitely crappy for PLing now but they're still awesome for generating tickets. -
I strongly recommend taking Nova as soon as possible on a fresh Warshade- Definitely check out the MFing Warshade guide. The amount of resistance you can have through Absorption/Toggles at those low levels is not enough to make a real difference anyways, and Nova will kill so much faster than human form at that level that it becomes more survivable through significantly better offense.
-
Quote:Surprisingly little inspiration usage has been necessary, actually. It's felt pretty good but I also haven't tried to solo anything too ridiculous yet so we'll see.So you lean more on insps and/or stuns for survival yes? probably a better way to go since +hp cannot be achieved with insps but def can.
Quote:How much do you reckon that cost you? I know the 52/53 HOs are expensive but i dont know how expensive... -
Quote:PBAoE version of that Warshade power which rips the soul out of a dead enemy and uses it as a pet.
Baha, a Dark Extraction clone would be pretty neat... Especially considering how excited I am to make my Warshade a Dark/Dark Dominator as his Praetorian... I was honestly hoping that there would be some Warshade power clones in the sets, and I'm still holding out for similar graphics. Human-Form Warshades are pretty much already Dark/Dark Dominators, except with unique and interesting power mechanics and ungodly survivability. -
Well I wanted to try out a Human Form build without high defense, because I had actually never run one before. It seemed logical to build up HP and Regen to the best of my ability in order to compensate for that lost defense, and it's actually turning out to be a pretty sound approach. The PVP sets you see are either helping with that and/or the always useful recovery like you mentioned... Plus some extra perks.

I've been against posting my finished builds for a while now because I don't like the idea of my main and favorite character being carbon copied. When I posted an AV soloing build, I got numerous tells in game from people who got my global off the forums, saying things like "I found your build and I'm running it now. Can I have the new one?" This made me feel icky, and it had a lot to do with why I stopped posting final builds.
I'm breaking my rule, and I'll tell you why.
1.) I made this build on a whim. It's illogical in many ways. It does a lot of things that I'd never suggest that anyone else did. In other words, this is not a build I would recommend for anyone else to use, because it probably wouldn't work well for them at all.
2.) It's expensive. I mean, really expensive. It's not something most people could up-and-replicate.
3.) After getting to know AlienOne, his philosophy on full disclosure sort of got through to me. If nothing else, at least I won't have to deal with people asking for my build anymore.
The only differences between this version and what I currently have in game are:
-All LOTG 7.5%'s are level 25
-Gladiator's Armor: 3% is level 10
-Both Nucleolus Exposures in Eclipse are level 53
-Endoplasm Exposure in Inky Aspect is level 53
-I'm using a Scirocco: Dam/End in place of the Ribosome Exposure in Orbiting Death because I haven't been able to find a lvl 52 or 53 Ribo yet
The only thing I can potentially see myself changing about this in the future is trying to work the Kheldian's Grace ATIO set in when it comes out... But don't quote me on that.
Feel free to ask me questions about this, why I like it so much, etc. To give a general explanation, it just 'works' for me. Q&A is welcome though.

Quote:Khelds are designed as a jack of all trades, and that generally means they won't excel at any one particular role. The standard ATs are all better at their roles than a Kheld is. If my team needs a particular role and we can't find a player to fill that role, I'll just switch to another character.
From a purely analytical standpoint, this is accurate information... That's not saying much in practice, though. It's ultimately going to come down to inf/time invested in a given character, and the skill level/attentiveness of the player controlling the characters in question. I can say with 100% confidence that my Warshade contributes more damage than Scrappers, Brutes, or Blasters of the same level during the same content on a regular basis. I can also say that he provides better control than many Dominators or Controllers, and survives longer than many Tanks and Brutes on a regular basis. (Note: That's not to say that Warshades, or my Warshade, are by definition "better" than anything else at any given task, just that it's very subjective, and that the spreadsheets don't always, or even usually, match the in game application.) -
Prediction: They're making a "Kheldian Appreciation" costume pack, including an all gender Sash and a Kheldian eye aura, as a response to recent backlash.

Quote:I think it might be the reverse - Hamidon Trial, then Tyrant Trial as the climax - or, as Tyrant has had a mental link with the Hamidon before, they could both be in the same Trial as allies, as our arrival on Praetorian Earth spells the end for both of them, so they might decide to team up to try and save their two empires.
I think you have Tyrant all wrong, which I'm going to attribute to "Hamidon Soloing Envy."
It's been made clear to us now that he really had no other choice but to bite the bullet and become a strict dictator in order to get Praetorian Hami off his back. His record (according to PWiki) before becoming the Uber God of the Multiverse was pretty clean, selfless even. He had to look tough so that Hamidon would chill out on his "I are killz everything" quest- Could you imagine soloing a Hami Raid every day? Tyrant got tired, and you can't blame him. I think that with Statesman kicking the bucket, it's going to become more clear that Tyrant did what he had to do in order to preserve the lives of his people for as long as he could, and you'll have to apologize for all the mean stuff you've said about him. -
I'm not going to start complaining about how misleading the Ramiel Arc is until all my Incarnate slots are unlocked, all my abilities of choice are at t4, and I still can't solo BAF and Lambda.
