  1. Thanks for the the insightful response. It's really helped decide on how to slot my powers.

I slotted the ATIO into Dark grasp and I am pleasantly surprised how often it procs - it feels like it procs every other use! It's definitely staying in there even if it means I lose the full set defence bonus.
I read in the general thread that the store bought IOs procs rate are also based on the ATIO proc formula so I might invest in the chance for build up and ghost widow proc!

    Cheers

How u finding your living shadow? Have u tried the 5 x posi + proc? I am curious to know how the damage compare?
  3. I really hope so as it would finish off my dark/dark controller perfectly.

    I would like to see:

    1) gloom
    2) dark embrace
    3) dark obliteration
    4) smite
    5) dark consumption

not likely but would be good
  4. I been reading a lot of posts about dark control ability to take a lot of procs in particular living shadow but have not managed to get a definitive answer to how effective they are in game.

so I would like to get everyone in game experience on the following proc slotted powers and advise if it is worth doing.

DARK GRASP - ATIO proc, clouded senses proc, unbreakable restraints proc, ghost widow proc + HO Acc/mez x 2

living shadow - acc/end x2 + gravity anchor proc, clouded sense proc, posi proc, and trap of hunter proc vs 5 x posi + another proc

Tar patch - slow proc (pacing of turtle I think)

haunt - build up proc vs clouded senses proc

shadow field - how does proc work in this in general and which are the best?
  5. Thanks for the great insight. I will keep on working on my dark/dark trolley.

Got to spend quite a bit of time in game this weekend, so I got Shadow-Fallen to Lvl 39.6.

So now I've seen/ played with the build with Mrs. O'Leary AND Fluffy in addition to my faithful Shades. HECK yes. Fluffy totally pulls his weight, and all four of them together ROCK. It'll be even better once the Umbra Beast AI is given a bit of aggression, but even now it's excellent indeed. The Haunts are like guided missiles, while Umbral and Fluffy have my back .

I made the mistake of chatting with Lewis on the Control channel for a bit about how I really missed having some -Def in the build. He dug around and pulled up the info that Waterspout in Leviathan Mastery is a -Def. Not mention I LOVED Waterspout on my Doms both for damage, and for the knockdown and fear. Water spout causes Fear and Disorient, with proper coloring it would fit perfectly with Dark/Dark. Add in the Coralax pet, and the fact that the Cone AOE in Leviathan would match nicely with Dark/'s cones... Bang, I've now committed to the trip to the Red side to pick up Leviathan Mastery. :: sigh ::

Good news is I helped my son do some of his Vigilante tip missions a few days ago, so I had like a 3 tip start and managed to get fully to Vigilante by the end of the evening. :-)

So one more alignment to go and I can respec into Waterspout!

Since I've got decent +rech already (+72.5 from IO sets IIRC) in the build, Waterspout and the Coralax should be up pretty frequently. Just think about it:

    2 Shades.
    1 Umbra Beast
    1 Dark Servant
    1 Waterspout
    1 Coralax

That's SIX pets on a NON-Storm Controller! It's like a mini-MM but with a full group of powersets in addition to all the pets!

    Yum.

    (A steadily more villainous) Arg
I been reading your exploits with a lot of interest particularly I am torn between controller and dominator. I am leaning towards controller mainly because of fluffy so would like your personal opinion of him? Also have you played a dark/dark dom? How they compare in terms of damage, soloability and playability?
  7. I am thinking of re-rolling my controller to Dom as well but the draw of having fluffy is keeping me with it. Dom suits my playstyle a lot more but having haunts, beast and fluffy is too good to give up

More seriously I totally feel the same about D/D Controller or Dom. A Dom with heavy -ToHit debuff and a self heal?! VERY tempting.

    Arg
Yes it actually fluffy that is tempting me to controller. Umbral beast, haunts and fluffy too tempting!
  9. I think dark/dark/soul like everyone else i been waiting a long time for this combo. Most likely make same for controller.

Does anyone think they will bring out a darkness mastery epic pool?

Like I said (and you ignored in favor of a strawman): I'm not sure yet, it depends, it could change, and in my opinion. I don't know how to make that more clear.
You do make a song and dance about how good dark control is compared to other sets. Its as if u r miffed and want it needs while everyone else just want to give constructive feedback.
  14. I do hope the Devs create a Darkness Mastery APP to accompany Darkness Control as every control set now has a thematic fit. I dont really consider Soul Mastery to be a perfect fit since it was proliferated from Doms.

Personally I would like to see:

    Gloom
    Dark Embrace
    Soul Drain
    Dark Obliteration
    Dark Regeneration
  15. I am glad I read forum regularly as i just sold my lvl 50 enzymes for 100mil each and lvl 52 membranes for 300mil each which i am really happy about. I was expecting to sell them for a lot less but obviously my bidder hasn't read this thread!

I'm going to be sick if they do not change it now

I can't agree with this enough I do hope we get pet customisation at some point. I like the umbral wolf but i wouldn't want it for every dark controller I make. Since they called the power umbral beast we should get the choice of other beasts and not be restricted to four legged as well.
  17. I think giving the information available a Dark/Dark Dom is going to suit my concept and play style. I am going to miss fluffy though but we might get a bigger and badder one from Dark control tier 9. Can't really see this happening with Controllers keeping fluffy in Dark Affinity.

Anyone know when Issue 22 due to go beta?

    Cheers
  18. Hi all,

First of all I am not here to bash Dark Dark Corruptors, I have one sitting at 27 which I am loving at the moment as I wanted to build a dark theme toon that can attack at range and have ultimate control over darkness.

With the introduction of Dark Control and Dark assault for Doms and Dark Affinity for Controllers I dont see the point in continuing with this character as it will be outclassed by each of those in terms of damage and control.

I just want to get everyone's take on this - will Dark/Dark Doms and Controllers make Dark/Dark Corruptors obsolete?

    Thanks for looking.

I would either drop Eagle's Claw and use the spares to fully slot your attack chain powers or drop Tactics and move the spare slots to Focus Chi so you can still have the Gaussian IO set bonus.
Thats a good suggestion actually as tactics is taking a lot of endurance. I will work it into my new build.

I did not take hasten because of themactic reasons. I thought with the global recharge I have I could run the top attack chain - am I wrong?

I still need an opinion on Weapon Mastery - anyone got an advice?
  20. I will presume the lack of feedback of my latest build is that everyone thinks its awesome and needs little improvement.

However, I have found one glaring problem is that it does not have any ranged attack to deal with runners which can get annoying. To stay within theme the only choice I can really take is weapon mastery but reading through the various threads it seems a really weak APP. Does anyone have any experience with Weapon Mastery and is it really that bad?

I have created a new build to include WM without losing any stat and gaining + 15% recharge due to Purples. Please crtique:

  21. Thanks for the feedback guys I was starting to think people were sick of reviewing MA/SR builds. I should explain a bit more what I am looking for - basically I am looking to make a Chr that I can stick with and happy to throw all my saved up Inf on and play through incarnate and beyond. So I want this Chr to be able to handle most things in game from AVs to Itrials. I understand that Shield would probably be a better option due to the damage bonus and shield charge for extra AOE but I just like the concept of a guy with superior intellect that can fully control the functions of his body to the extremes of human limit.

I actually worked on a new build based on further reading on the forum so would like the experts if anything I can improve on further. This build has slight lower Def ML/RG/AE 48/47/48 but more hitpoints around 1963 which I think would help my survivability more. The cost of this is more use of Shield Wall which I know is very expensive so might take time to get. I got the SW + 3 resistance but I am not sure if worth slotting it here which very limited resistance.

Any feedback on this build would be welcome but ideally I would like to squeeze more defence, regen hitpoints or recharge without reducing anything else from here. I have some generic slotting on things like focus chi which probably could be improved with a set but not sure which one. Also what Alpha/Incarnate abilities should I aim for for this build? I was thinking Musculature but not sure.

  22. I think MA best fits my concept so have to stick with that. The other thing I am not sure is if it is worth getting my defence to 59 which I heard is the Itrials softcap. This mean I would have to slot for touch of death and makos bite instead of crushing impact which will reduce my overall recharge quite a bit. I do have 1 gladiator +3 def which I can slot to him as well.

I am also in two minds whether to have crane kick as I love the look and knockback but it is surplus to requirement for this build.
  23. Hi all,

I watched limitless last night and also a big fan of Watchmen so it inspired me to make a character that can access 100% of his brain and therefore has enhanced human abilities and of course brilliant intelligence. This is what I came up with so far but I am sure it can be improved upon so I asking the experts of the forum to help me improve it.

Money is not a problem as I have over 10 Billion Inf saved. The only pool powers I am insisting on Leadership (brilliant mind), Medicine (gadgets he built) and fighting (enhanced physical attributes). However if anyone come up with a better idea then I dont mind changing.

    Thanks in advance.

    Drain Life

I've been waiting forever for the buff to life drain! I can finally have a decent ST attack chain for my Dark/Dark corruptor. I just hope it is true that it is a buff across the board and not just masterminds

I dont think that life drain would get bumped up to a full tier 3 blast, but I dont see why its damage could not be as good as Gloom. Same goes for Electric, but I would like to see Tesla Cage brought up to at least CB level, if not as high as LB.

The reason these two sets probably got hosed on ST attack chains is because of their AoE and Utility, but I cannot personally see the balance trade-off as correct. Both sets seem "unnecessarily" weak on ST damage.
I agree and I think it is the weak ST damage that has made these 2 sets less popular. I think Rad Blast is a prime example of a set that has good ST and AOE ability that does not gives up any utility.

It they made the small change to Life Drain it would turn a lacklustre set into a very viable one for Single and Team play.
