(This is off-topic, but continues a convo started here, so figured it was best to leave it here.)
FYI: I resubmitted this to Avatea and TheOcho on the 12th via PM. No response thus far, same as last time. ;( I suppose I COULD unsticky/recreate the post... but then the fight will be to get it stickied again. Choices, choices... -

Quote:Have you checked the AC line quality to see if the power is clean? It should provide consistent power over a period of time with steady draw. If your PC's power supply is ramping up to feed power to your video card, thereby increasing the draw on the outlet, that could start some power imbalance for you that could affect your GPU (realistically, your whole system).Good thought but i do have a circuit breaker in this house. We get the surges once every 6 or so months or so and on top of that all the rest of my devices work out of the wall or plugged into any strip. (monitor, tv, ps3, wall fan, alaram clock, phone, but i never run more then 2) It just seems wierd that it works when it wants and only affects coh playability. Im assuming it has something to do with the power being supplyed to the GPU? Cause this problem also happens in safe mode.
Take a look at this little article as a reference:
http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/200...s-and-you.html
For a PC, I'd always go with a small UPS. (I lump a PS3, TiVO, XBOX, etc into this category.) It sounds like your power draw is skewed here. A UPS would help smooth that out, but long-term, you should have the outlet addressed.
Have you tried another outlet that's on a different circuit, and see if it works off the surge bar there? -
Quote:Heh, don't take offense. I wasn't calling it stupid, though; you never heard the expression "DUDE, that movie was stupid scary!" or the like? Not sure how to reply to that other than I'm sorry, I don't mean for it to be either stupid or eerie.
...my niece uses it. I blame her for the 13 yr old language infection I've picked up. Sorry for coming across like a jerk.
(Some would say it's easy for me to do.) -
Quote:Actually, we'd rather see the mistake undone so Castle has proper time to think it through, instead of losing access to content that's been in place since 2007. Doesn't that strike you as the more sensible option, Sapph? Let me use the power of metaphor to drive this point home:A mistake was made. Luckily the universe hasn't imploded. In the meantime there are a couple dozen other TFs you can do, and hundreds of hours of other game content. There's also a whole bunch of stuff you could be doing outside of the game, and possibly even in the real world. So sit back and relax, and wait for the fix to come down the pipe. No use in getting worked up over it. ;]
Quote:Bob, the nuclear plant engineer, hits the "emergency vent" button, because he knows that pressure in the plant is over normal, and he wants to relieve the pressure. (I'm not an engineer, I have no idea if this is how they do this, so just run with it.)
By venting the gas, he makes part of the town and surrounding countryside unlivable.
Should Bob:
1. Hit the vent button, and think about alternatives after the damage is done?
2. Explore other options first and exhaust them before he hits the button that kills puppies and baby deer and small children?
SO yeah, roll back the change. Work on the balance part of it more; put it on Test; announce that you're DOING it so we can help you balance the encounter without ruining the TF as a whole. -
Quote:Because coming from you, that song is now elevated to a lyrical waking nightmare.Always with that song. Why not "Take me to your heart" for a change?
Anyway, back to the Hami Hold Error by Castle. -
Quote:Right back atcha, doll. Glad to see your hero batteries are chargin' up.You know I don't get to play often any more, But it is nice that when I'm on I get tells asking how I am and encouraging me to hang tough or just making me smile and laugh. I have to thank you all. You help me keep my mind off the bad and put a smile on my face. I love reading the playful banter on FE, RF and RF2009, you make logging in a sheer joy. I look forward to teaming up with those I have played with in the past and making new friends. The new treatment is going well and I've been feeling better so I've been able to play a bit more. But enough of that, I look forward to seeing ya in world and having fun.

Quote:Original design = Controllers required for hold phase for Hami Raid, 2005?Perhaps. Probably, in fact. I made it match the original design. If needed (and judging by reactions, it probably is) I'll drop the protection some in a future update. It will never be as easy as it was when the green mito's perma-held themselves though.
In an 8 man team for the LGTF?
Bottom line: Castle, I know you're fussing with the numbers trying to make it more difficult/balance out the previous inequity (in other news, there was in an inequity?), but using LIVE as your testbed makes no sense. Put the changes on TEST and work it out there with the test server playerbase before you call something that's obviously a bug of scale a "working as intended" choice. LIVE isn't your new "test server, lol". -

If you have to ask, then you don't belong here. Enjoy the ERP.

Well, start here, and read the chat text.

(...but if you have to explain a joke, maybe it just ain't that funny...)
(Eh. Still makes me laugh. :P) -

....aaaaand, I lost two auction items that had sold, totaling 50M lost. ;( Petitioning... -
Hm, Freedom and Virtue ---> are both down. It was up earlier...

Go, go, cohtitan staff.
As an aside: What about evolving the newspaper format (which as a traditional pizazz, I'll grant you that) and go social media with this - i.e., a Facebook group? The format would have the benefit of being a dynamic participation venue for regular members as well as official contributors, and has the advantage of being pushed to mobile devices. If privacy issues are a concern for contributors, they can simply roll a FB account based on their COH toon and go from there (so can participants, if they choose to do so).
Just a thought. It's something that's being exploited in other MMOs, and I often wondered why Scoopers didn't go this route. Discuss. -

Quote:I didn't mean just the Server/Channel word mishap. I meant the GET_WINGS part. It seems with the lazy generation of today, people get that far not knowing what that means and stops reading the rest of the line, completely missing the point of the thread.
It's mildly funny, don't get me wrong, but not everybody gets it... especially new players who haven't been around long enough to use /AC or find Global Channels yet.
...'sides, if people are too lazy to read the rest of the line, do we want them on our globals? I'm doin' a service here. -
Quote:I should add that a lot of the "speed run" setups are done at the contact site itself. The hang-out population's typically dense enough to where a speed team can be formed within a few minutes with the PuG's at the contact if the channels aren't biting for some reason. (Most of the PuG's are speed-trained anyway.)RF2009 and Freedom Events are usually hot with the speed run advertisements.
Welcome aboard to Freedom, Tokyo. Enjoy your stay. You should have plenty of opportunity to prove yourself the worst PVPer on two servers now. -
Quote:So we're clear: People noticed that on day one, and I DID fix it; but that doesn't change the actual thread list name.Actually, there is. Problem is Turg wasn't using very good judgment when he picked the title. Other people have trouble finding it as well. lol
(If you click on the link, the post subject is right, but the forum list name is the original.)
I PM'd one of the redname forum coordinators at the time to fix it, and didn't hear back. If you have a favored redname whom I can target with the request, shout out now and I'll send it along. -
Quote:You kids had it so easy. In my day, when a Sally sighting was announced on Freedom Badge, it was like a firehouse scramble to form a team fast enough in transit to get credit on the hit before another team snared it for that day.I know it used to be 45 minutes. If I saw her and tagged her I could count on her return 45 minutes later.
*hobbles back to his retirement base*

Quote:UGH. Short form: I'm an idiot. Browser's 32-bit.Turg, throw out some of those sites. I'm curious. And curious to see how you have it working.
Long form: I recently migrated to Win7 from Dell, so I get a nice little docking bar that I moved my shortcuts to. I copied the 32-bit version only to that dock, not the 64 bit. So, this was all in my head. Sorry, guys. Show's over. -
Quote:This, basically. They REALLY dropped the entry level cost for base building a few issues ago (I12? I forget) to where you can have a big, sprawling base for pennies a month. (Most of the cost is in the high level base hardware.) If you're worried about your "swag" on your first server, they also simplified THAT transit process too with Issue 17's "mail" functionality.Glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Even if you do still have a base, come join us anyway. Now that they've lowered the prices on base equipment and rent, it's much easier to build new ones. Hope to see you ingame!
Still, that's all "stuff", that's not the "character" of your base, your SG, the friends you knew. It sounds like you had a good time making new friends here though - glad to hear it.If you decide to roll up a new toon (perhaps a dual pistol blaster, or a demon summoning mastermind), come on by and run with the Freedawgs.
Every voice adds. Glad we left an impression on you. Cheers! -
I'd suggest coordinating this in private with collected volunteers. Posts like this are magnets to PVP hunters.
