Quote:I agree with pretty much every point made here.Well considering the Kahn only takes 20 minutes to complete, yeah it was very easy
Not to mention between last week and this weeks weeklys, I was able to stock up over 2,000 merits on my main which I haven't played in a very long time, other than badge hunting. So yeah this was a huge plus for me and will remain to be a plus in my book.
We've been talking about Weekly TFs with double reward bonus for a very long time within our SG and when this was announced, we loved it! I think its the best thing the devs have added in a very long time, incarnate system aside, this is fantastic. The incarnate system is just a plus for me, and I'm on my way to unlocking each of the trees that way I can switch to whatever I may need depending on the situation
But yeah I agree, no more of these badges, its pointless. And if they do add more, no biggie as I plan to run a ton of these on my main regardless.
1. Yup, the mechanics of the badge are easy: Team for the WSTs, and you'll get the badge eventually. No elaborate farm setup to do, "just do it".
2. You get considerable rewards doing it as you go along that benefit you, especially for Incarnate use - and it doesn't go TOO fast to where it makes the process pointless. There's no lose factor here.
3. 50 "is enough". To do more really doesn't accomplish the intention of the setup: To give people incentive on working towards incarnate builds.
...and if you want the AE badges to be brought back, I want 'em all brought back. XD (Still sore about Dev Choice being removed, while Bug Hunter stays in-game.) -
Quote:First, grats. Finally finished my day jobs yesterday afternoon. I would've gotten done a couple weeks sooner, but I didn't realize I was logged out in a duplicate location for one of them.
Now I'm just trying to decide whether I cycle around through hero and back to rogue (since I didn't use the build-switching bug), or wait for the anniversary event to get those PvP defeat badges.
Second, I'm gettin' lazy. As I do other stuff right now, I autocomplete a tip mish every two days 'til I get to the morality mish.Makes side switching less of a grind right now, with the WST rushes and whatnot.

First, context.
Quote:Kahn TF runs take about 25-35 minutes to run. A given PUG team will probably run it a few times in a row if they have good synergy. If you do this even five times a day with a dedicated crew, that's only about 3 hours spent per day, with an ETA of about 10-12 days.Quote:You're kidding with this right? The Khan TF has only counted for WST runs since Tuesday. Even if we assume Beefy ran it 5 times a day he only had 4 days to do that. You do realize that only equals 20 right? And you're telling me MY math assumptions are really awful...
Today, tho, I think I ran it 7 times. I talked to people who ran it 14 times today, and some who'd never done it before. That 14 runner just started the WSTs yesterday, so she's behind the curve, but she can catch up faster than I will if she stays at that pace.
Your comment of "Let's just say most people, even people you would normally consider to be 'hard core' about this game, would not be able to manage that" really doesn't hold water either. PUG teams I formed on Freedom have been able to consistently hold to the 25 min timeframe, even when I invited a team of 4 tanks, 2 scraps and a rad because that's who was standing closest to me and I was more than a touch drunk at the time (and with two never having run it before). THAT team made it in 23 minutes, and we kept together for another 2 runs (with a swapout or two) because it was fun.
Make sense? The point here is that normal people can get the last badge very comfortably without having to rush - but even BC's "rush" methods aren't that far fetches from the normal. i.e., BC might be on the fringe of the curve, but I wouldn't paint him as an aberration that "either plays this game roughly 23 hours a day or he has friends/family play his account for him half the time."
Hope this helps. I think you're making extremes in regards to BC's getting it where it really isn't THAT much beyond the norm. This is an easy WST week, and lots of people are taking advantage of it for that reason.
EDIT: Then again, pics like this really don't help my argument.

If you do this even five times a day with a dedicated crew, that's only about 3 hours spent per day, with an ETA of about 10-12 days. And you're still getting shard/recipe rewards along the way as well. Far cry from playing 23 hours a day or recruiting Bosnian mercenary slave ships* who operate badge farming operations in international waters around Sealand to avoid over-the-top scrutiny.Well just as an FYI Beef_Cake announced on his in-game channel tonight that he finished the new 50 count TF badge. It only took him 11 days. I've suspected for several years that he either plays this game roughly 23 hours a day or he has friends/family play his account for him half the time.
Just sayin'. Your math assumptions in regards to Beef are really awful.
(*Apologies to any Bosnians out there. I just picked a name. I could have easily said Ecuadorian.) -
Quote:Here's my rationale for doing the Kahn TF in a "speed" format.I would prefer a non speed run myself. It doesn't have to be a kill all, but I think the uber speed runs kind of defeat the purpose of trying to get shards. But if everyone else wants to speed run it, that's fine with me. Just means the sooner I can get offline
The shard drop percentages change between minion to Lt to boss, etc., all the way up to the super-AV "Hamidon" class. Here's a small sample of what @Leandro and others have estimated from a few thousand kills:
5532 minions, 5 shards, 1 in 1106
2817 lieutenants, 18 shards, 1 in 156
330 bosses, 5 shards, 1 in 66
8679 total, 28 shards, 1 in 309
Compare that to a standard "speed" tactic, where we focus on the main targets (who are all EB class or greater) and concluding the run fast to start another one, even getting on the low side with 1-2 shards for the dozen or so EB+ kills is far above the %age for trying to kill sub-EBs that are along our flight path. i.e., we get better shard drop rate/hr this way.
On good days, I've netted 7 shards doing this run. Compared to a Hami raid, where I'd get 9-10 but requires 49 other players for about the same amount of time, and this still wins for effort/reward. -

Releasing this QOL fix is a requirement for me when I run PUG STFs. Can someone please hotline the Devs to this oversight?

Too early for me, going drinking in the DC burbs Friday nite, but GL!
-
No joke, I think I'm averaging about 5-7 shards a run for the Kahn TF. We're speeding it too, just killing the mobs we need to drop, bypassing the rest. I almost always get a shard off the final AVs, at least 2 or 3 for total AVs on mish 5.

First: Great newsletter update to keep us informed, thanks.
Second: I like the pack, looking forward to its release!
Third... and I need to say this now, because you brought it up yourself with the costume overage for a later pack. _I_ think that, as you have all these add-on packs available to users to buy, they shouldn't be one-shot updates, but rather a flag that allows them to CONTINUE to get updates for a pack for which they have access. More magic costume pieces? Then the people who bought the magic pack get it automatically. More cat poses? Then the animal pack users get that automatically too.
This keeps the releases from being microtransaction to being something that, as time progresses, becomes an investment as you get more swag added for a theme you liked. The players benefit obviously, but throwing us a bone here every now and then will benefit you by keeping us happy.
Just sayin'. Anyway, well done on the pack, and I look forward to finally making my themed toon, "Black Bull"! -
Quote:as title says i have not heard or seen anything regarding the new badges that were said to be part of this, anyone know what they are?Quote:Sure, the (two) next tiers for Incarnate Slot crafting and the three badges for rerunning WTF content after your first time.
I think that covers it. Snow will likely have pictures up later today.
*Oh, and got my 10x WST badge, just the 50 left. Good way to get Shards, btw... KTF seems to be shard-rich, more than the STF was.* -
Most definitely a possibly maybe on this, Luna. I'll figure out the toon if I show up.
Thanks!

Tuesday's a hard sell for me unless we commit to breaking after 90 mins/2hrs max. If so, then I can prolly attend if I get home in time. If I miss Tuesday, well obviously Wed's no good.
Thanks for hosting as always, E.

Quote:This, more or less. My opinion is that, as you do the WSTs successfully, you'll build up credit. If you wanna bang out the grind, do them regularly and get it in a few weeks (or as Ironblade's friend will do it, by tomorrow). If you wanna cruise with the WSTs and see it as an opportunity to get a higher opportunity to team for a given TF/SF, and earn shards/merits/recipe drops via the upper echelon of enemies in the game, then it's a win/win. The badge is just cake. You can eat it now, or eat it later. You'll still get it in the end.I look at this badge as an chance to get some great merits and shards as well as teams with my buds. Its gonna be fun. Way more fun then any epic grind badge. I will run the tfs anyways. So now its just more rewards.
If you dont like the badge dont get it. Its okand you dont have to do it. If you feel you have to do it then do it and if you feel you have to complain about it well maybe start a badge i hate thread.
At first glance, I was daunted by the 50 count, sure. But in the long view of Incarnate work, this gives an added incentive to stretch out the gaining of it at your pace. WSTs will always be announced; people will always have 50s they'll want to Incarnatize. The badge is a hook, but one that has a positive effect. Contrast that to the original Empath, where you could lock a toon in a gladiator PVP match for weeks or months to earn it, and this "epic" badge is far more constructive.
Leandro made fun of me for wanting to run an STF a night or two ago. In reality, this badge is making me less of a badger and more of an Incarnate player. I'm diggin' it, personally. Worry less about that 3rd tier, and you might dig it more too. -
Quote:That's the trick. You get the warning, and you have a few seconds to shift just a little bit to avoid the blast, but with everything else going on around you, it gets messy: Rooting attacks holding up your evasion, being swatted by swords and stuff, etc.I really think if we stay close as a group and move together just a few feet from the blue death it would go a bit quicker. But it is kind of funny watching everyone run around like their hair is on fire.
It seems that the swords respawn only when the previous spawn is dead. Wondering how feasible it is to let a few of the minions live, and just let them attack vs inviting another batch of swords a few moments later...
A good run though, shame about BM. Once we got our groove on, she went down fast enough. But that's what learning experiences are about, right? -

I'll be there. I'd rather Soviet, but can bring Turg to help since he's somewhat more pimped out.

I remember seeing Statesman JR standing around last night, so I prolly flew past your crew a few times on the back and forth. Grats to you and your PUG crew.
