  1. Maybe they just haven't gotten around to reviewing it yet.

Lots of people are commenting on seemingly obvious farms that don't appear to be getting any response.

You could try sending in a petition, asking for an accelerated review. I don't know if it'll do any good, but it shouldn't do any harm.

You should have upped your donation by a factor of ten and then see if they stuck to their morals. Every one has their price after all.

Turning down 5 Million is one thing but 50? 100? That will get you near any non purple rare or fund most of a build.

[/ QUOTE ]OTOH, not every player cares about purples or a tweaked-out build.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They do if they are casual!

[/ QUOTE ]Not according to the in-game definitions of "casual" I'm familiar with:

"Plays less than X hours per day/week"

    or

"Hardcore plays to win. Casual plays to play."

I have not seen anyone use the term "any kind of story", I have used "a story" and there is a difference even if small.

Quick example of "any kind of story" that would most likely be banned:
Lewt City: Run the map get and many tickets as possible, click glowies etc. HAVE FUN.
    BANNED.

Quick example of "a story" that would most likely NOT be banned:
Lewt City: Mynx is being held somewhere in this ruined city. You and your team of heroes have been called to rescue her asap. More story more story etc.....
    NOT BANNED.

Same map, same objectives different story. Not rocket science here.

[/ QUOTE ] Ahh but mine had a HUGE storyline, COMPLETE dialogue, ambushes, everything............... NO FOUL language, no reference to creed, gender, race, and still banned. But all bosses....... so why banned...... because some idiot decided it was a farm. So not necessarily rocket science. NOW the burden is on me to prove its not. Thats crap.

[/ QUOTE ]Was that the reason they gave you for banning it? It was a Farm Mission?

[/ QUOTE ]I completely agree. I've just seen posts implying that even a token story would be sufficient to prevent banning. I don't believe it either, just being cautious in my phrasing.

Here is my idea and I think it is a good one.

Make the AE a virtual world. While in the virtual world no xp and no tickets, but you get to create your own character (either start at level 1 mandatory or let the level be variable and allow power selection up to level 50, to be limited by the scenario) that lives in the virtual world. Your virtual character can have powers that you cannot have.

The virtual character can also earn xp and tickets but these are only usable in the virtual world. Out in the "real" world your character does not gain xp or any other benefit of being in the virtual world.
However!!! "Real" world rewards do affect virtual world characters, so any vet rewards they can have.
You can also copy your character to the virtual world as she is and play her there for a few fun missions.

This will make the AE alternate story entertainment instead of a powerlevelers paradise.

[/ QUOTE ]All this does is create a completely separate version of the game. What's the point? (I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I just don't see the point of playing it.)
  7. Read them again, that's not quite how it works.

If you get reported, a human reviews it. If you get enough reports before a person can review it, then it gets removed temporarily (I don't know if it locks the slot at that point). If the person reviewing it thinks it's a Farm Mission, it gets locked and you can't unpublish it to free up the slot. (From other people's posts you get a chance to "fix" it, if that doesn't work, you can appeal to CS to try to get your slot back.)

If the reviewer doesn't think it's a Farm, they put it back up, and mark it "unbannable". Any change or republish of the arc clears the "unbannable" flag.

Some people are claiming that attaching any kind of a story to a Farm will get it past the restrictions. But so far, I haven't seen actual confirmation of that.

It should be required when creating something with Mobs, you should make a check that a Minion, Lt., & Boss are in said mission.

Instead of All one or the other.

    JJ

[/ QUOTE ]If you allow the all-one-mob, but reduce their rewards, people could still make Challenge missions.

I have no idea what "exploit" means in this instance

    [/ QUOTE ]

Apparently no one else does either, if the devs have a clear idea they aren't saying. I'd like to say if you do x,y, and z you will be fine, but I can't because the people who could say so with authority won't.

[/ QUOTE ]A new player needn't worry about it. It's unlikely they'll get involved in an exploit in the first place, and even more unlikely that they'd be punished for it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How do you know that ? There were many new players in comm officer farms

[/ QUOTE ]You're talking about the past. I'm talking about now.

There don't appear to be any current exploits being abused. That makes it pretty unlikely that a new player could get onto an exploitative Farm Mission team.

Even if they did get onto a "secret" one, it's unlikely they'd be punished for it. A new player running on an exploit team maintaining THAT low a profile is hardly an "egregious" abuser of the system.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
I would say if there are more than three, it should take the lowest of them first. Progression through to the higher ones if there are bigger insps available.

[/ QUOTE ]No matter which one I clicked on, I'd get the lowest tier available, and it'd use the lowest ones first.

    I'd /sign that. Don't even need a dollar.

  12. I like the basic idea, and can't think of a way to abues it, but I see some challenges in the coding:

What if I have two each of all three sizes? Which ones does it burn? If I'm clicking on a Tier 3, does it burn both Tier 3s, or only one of them? And what do I get? A Tier 2 or a Tier 1?

If it always works its way up from the bottom, what if I want a Tier 2?

    And so on.

But I do like the idea.
  13. Count me in the 98%.

If there were no reward at all, I'd only play it rarely, if at all.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

'Regular' farming does NOT EQUAL exploit or exploit farming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What I'm having a real problem with is that we don't have any clear-cut definition of what an exploit is, aside from some vague hand waving about it. The risk vs. reward argument is easy enough to understand, and it's easy to identify some exploits, in that case (the chicken tug farms, for instance), but what about beyond that? If people make a mission filled with lieutenants and bosses, is that exploiting? What about using things that give slightly more EXP, like Freakshow? Is a big map filled with all of the Archvillains okay? I'm heading into a lot of teams worried at this point on my Dominator because I have no idea what "exploit" means in this instance and the only real teams to speak of villain-side (at least on Virtue) are the ones doing AE.

[/ QUOTE ]Those aren't exploits. No one in authority is calling them exploits, and nothing they've said or done indicates that they should be considered exploits.

They may end up declared as Farm Missions, and may get locked, but a new player won't get in trouble for joining teams running them. Even an experienced player won't get into trouble for just running them, unless they did so to such an extent that they were judged to be "horribly abusing" the system.

If you haven't already, read Positron's posts on the restrictions and punishments they are imposing: #1 #2

  15. Not what he's saying.

Participating in the current one will give you a BETTER chance to get into future ones, not the ONLY chance.

    Types of Players

    [ QUOTE ]
    Hi Tripp_Hazzard.

How is pl'ing a sub set of farming? Pl'ing was around long before farming. Farming only came into play once inventions appeared.....

    BC

[/ QUOTE ]In the current game, I'm not aware of any way to Powerlevel without also Farming. I'm wide open to enlightenment, though.

    Types of Players

    [ QUOTE ]
Looks good. The only things I can think of offhand that you might add is the "Man Build" players. One that take very few powers from their primary and secondary, and try to gimp themselves by picking less than optimal pool powers. Closely related to the Challenging Build players who try to pick unpopular Primaries and Secondaries, hopefully ones with little or negative synergy.

[/ QUOTE ]Help me out with a name for them, something that hopefully describes the mindset and approach to the game. "Natural" is out because it's an Origin, and I don't want to reinforce the "Natural = Powerless" stereotype.

And "try to gimp themselves"? Are they really trying to build as WEAK a character as they can?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
This is the reason farming is bad for the game- people start thinking that the game's all about farming, and have trouble being convinced otherwise.

[/ QUOTE ]Change that to excessive farming, and you've got it.

But you can say that about ANY type of play.

    Banned Missions

(General reply, not specific to MrOsterman)

The very first post in this thread contains the "official" definition of Farm Mission.

And makes it clear that what they are after are not just missions that give exceptional XP/Tickets. They are even after missions that give just "above average" XP/Tickets.

The maximum "speed limit" is being set lower in MArch than it is in regular content.

We have a shiny new rec center with all kinds of new toys in it, and Farmers are being told "You can play with the new toys, but only if you play according to these limits. If you want to play the way you usually, do, do it with your old toys. You may not play your way with the new toys."

Like Twilight indicated so much more clearly than I did, the update screen requires you to put in your CURRENT password, twice, for security. It can be very misleading.

[/ QUOTE ] It's not asking for a "current" password twice. I just tried a different password while changing the signature at the same time and it worked just fine.

It doesn't seem like any kind of security feature because you can put anything you want in there and it will just change it. The only stipulation is you HAVE TO put ANY password in, whether its the same or new.

[/ QUOTE ]Wow. I was under the wrong impression, obviously. Thank you!

From the raid side mission. You get temporary combat powers; attacks, shields, random buff toggles, things like that.

You cannot reobtain the Safeguard completion powers (Raptor Pack, etc).

[/ QUOTE ]Danke. That was my impression. I was hoping I was wrong.

  24. Okay, I know this is on the same level as "is it plugged in?", but you ARE putting your password in BOTH boxes, yes?

If that's not it, try changing your password, then see if it accepts the new one on the update page.

    Good luck!
