    Crab woes!

I guess, I must have just skimmed over the build and not put much thought into it, or I would have noticed that lv 32 was blank.

The build looks ok, but im a little confused as to why I need Maneuvers and Tactical Training: Maneuvers. Also, I would have thought Combat Training: Offensive and Frag Grenade are things that I would really need to be a long range damage dealer, plus the web grenade for keeping the KB down to a minimum.
You are a crab, you buff your team and TT:M and M are both good buffs. Well slotted that is 20% defence at least. You are reducing damage up to about 50%, maybe more, depending on how off my maths is.

Stop thinking of yourself as a pure ranged damage dealer. You are a crab. You shoot, you slice, you make spawns go crying home to their mommas. You do this by being the biggest, baddest toughest AT there is and shooting them to death. CT:O is a waste in your build with your accuracy and Frag grenade is just rubbish for a crab. You want them all bunched up for cones and pets.
  2. I'm just doing some of the maths on a few of my toons to work out their damage per animation and damage per animation for the best attack chains for them.

Does anyone know a good way of working out the damage of an AoE. I'm assuming 5 council all bunched up, 1 in the middle, each one 5ft away from the middle one, 10 feet away from each other.

And what is a good way of working out buffs like destiny, Aim, Build up, etc and how much boost they give in general in a long fight, assuming they are hit every time they come up.
  3. So, inspired by the Duel Pistol Scrapper idea, I've decided to start collecting diffrent builds, mainly concept builds for me to try on my characters, see if they make me fall in love.

So roll up, roll up! Bring out your concept builds! Give em a fancy name and say why you made them! If you have a character to go with it and a reason for them to have those powers, even better.

If I see any builds I'm really liking, I'll toss out some inf to the creator.

Oh, and if possible can people please only post the data links and data blocks to import into mids? Keeps the thread a little tidier. Thanks.

You started it to boast about your build. So build, not builds.

And the twoheadedboy market, kinda wearing thin as a joke. So far all the stock is crashing under the weight of the lulz you produce.
  5. Do, how would you SO slot Rain of Arrows? My friend wants to know, I said 2 damage, 2 recharge, an accuracy and an endurance.
  6. Two heads, use them, let this die and sink to the bottem.

    Crab woes!

You still owe me a teaming that isn't on LoLUG trial.

You have a very solid, well made build. This is just a bit of rejiggling for a bit more accuracy and AoE defence.

Not to nitpick too hard, but I remind you that the person who is claiming this build offers significant control also recently posted a Controller build that lacked its single target hold. I could have let that go for anyone else, but in this case it's too relevant to the discussion to ignore.
Yeah, THB is nice enough, but it is a case of a big, slightly undeserved ego.

IMO there are very few people I know of who deserve such an ego. Dech's for contributing his guides. Alienone. Aracanaville for their infomation/data mining. Oedipus_Tex for his terrible and constant sig puns. Basically anyone who contributes good guides or info.

However, that is a pretty good build. I can find no flaws with it, but for control, a dom is definatly better.

  14. Light Mastery is a power set that focuses on buffing teams to hit (thus pseudodebuffing the enemys defence), and debuffing the enemies to hit (and thus pseudobuffing their defence).

It also has a unique mechanic that applies an ability to the enemy, that when they are hit by someone with a specific buff on them, applies a number of effects. Each stack lasts 20 seconds.

It is a primary for defenders and a secondry for corrupters, MMs and controllers.

    Blind

Blind applies a moderate to hit debuff to the enemy and applies a stack of an ability called Striking Blind.

If hit by someone with Inner Light on them, Striking Blind gives a damage debuff.

    Radiance:

Radiance gives a bonus to perception and to hit to a target ally. It also gives them a small bit of heal.

    Burning Light

Burning Light gives a large to hit debuff to the enemy and a stack of Flare.

If they are hit by someone with Inner Light, Burning Light will trigger dealing moderate fire damage over time and doing some AoE damage to nearby enemies.

    Inner Light

Inner Light is a large to hit buff on an ally, aswell as +damage and recharge.

If someone with Inner Light hits an enemy with a stack of anything from Light Manipulation, they will consume the stack and take the debuff.

It can also be cast directly on the enemy to trigger all the stacks they have on them if soloing.

    Sunburst

Sunburst is a targeted AoE from an ally. It deals some damage, grants a moderate to hit debuff in AoE and gives a stack of Sunburst to the enemies.

Sunburst gives the enemy a PBAoE to hit debuff to other enemies.

If cast on someone with Inner Light, this AoE will apply Sunburst and trigger it, along with any other stacks.

    Ray

A long recasting power that applies a debuff to regeneration.

If triggered by Inner Light it gives 25 damage of untyped in one burst.

    Sun Damage

A moderate single target Res debuff which applies a stack of Damaged

If triggered, this stack will give an extra res debuff, equal to half the first and reduce regeneration.

    Sunbeams

Using this power summons 3 sunbeams for 30 seconds. They are temp uncontrolable pets, which debuff to hit and do fire damage. They are weaker than your average pet, but have good AoE defence.

Every time an enemy is hit by them, it applies a stack of Sun Dazzled. When triggered, it does a mag 2 stun. Sunbeams are able to trigger stacks.

    Nova

This is a location AoE similar to Omega Manuever that summons a white orb. It taunts enemies in, then explodes dealing heavy damage and giving them a debuff called nova afterburn.

This, when triggered, applies a large DoT, to hit debuff and res debuff. Nova will also trigger any current stacks. So what do you think to it? Feedback welcome.

    NPC Base Raids

I still like the idea of base raids, and I do want them to return in some form, so I've got a suggestion.

    NPC base raids.

A couple of pre built bases. Shouldn't be so hard as devs have all the resources. Set up arena style except every member on each team has to be in the same SG. It also requires a certain amount of prestige to be spent, hopefully making it a bit of an inf sink. The winner has the inf refunded, the loser loses it to cover base damage.

There could be a few modes or ways of winning to this. One involves dropping pylons, like in the old base raids, but maybe these one supress powers instead. Or destroying items that hold them. Or by x many kills.

Once in, the defenders have x amount of time to set up, group up and get ready. After that amount of time, the attacks spawn in a random room and given 10 seconds immunity to prevent spawn ganking, which also supresses travel powers.

The defenders also have turrets set up around on their side, maybe have them set up to do various damage types and randomize their spawns. They also have a single power generator room set off to the side, which destroying would bring down the turrets.

Maybe for rewards, grant special base pieces, badges, and even something similar to items of power. I don't see why they removed items of power, when it was the fed-ex bug that made CoP trial the exploit.

    So what do people think?

At level 24, you get a forced respec. You are then given the option of taking crab spider armour from level one, along with the other crab powers.

If you want me to look over your build, I'll help you
  18. So what awesome things have you done with your toon?

For me, my crowning moment of awesome was fighting off 2 Paladins and winnng, just before a third came walking over and I beat him too. I did have to use Lore pets and the odd dagger :P But it felt awesome.

    How about you guys?

  20. So, there looks to be another set of ATOs in the works and I've seen them on beta.

Now, looking at these, it got me thinking. Other games have epic weapons and abilities. In a game like CoH, there is a fair degree of overlap.

For example, blasters, defender and corrupters all share the same attack sets. MMs, defenders and corrupters all share the same buff/debuff sets. Then if you have a corrupter and a defender on the team, there is very little diffrents...to a degree. One does better buffs/debuffs, slightly worse damage while the other one does better damage but worse buffs/debuffs.

That isn't 100% true, but it gives a basic idea.

Now, lets look at the ATOs for a corrupter and a defender.

Right now, the corrupter has a damage proc and on beta there is a PBAoE that restores some endurance.

This fits a corrupter nicely, damage and the fuel to do more damage or buff the team.

Now the defender has a PBAoE heal and a PBAoE absorb. These are both pure buffing abilities.

This has started to seperate out corrupters and defenders more. A defender, by using their attack powers brings heals and buffs and damage to the group, which I feel helps further cement their roles as the primary buffers and debuffers.

The corrupter has a damage proc that only fires from them and grants people near them end, including themselves. The way both their ATOs mainly help themselves pulls them away from defenders.

Slowly, I think, ATOs are going to move away from must have enhancements on every build to something more situational. More toolboxey.

Heck, just by slotting 1 ATO on my crab, she went from a crab tank to a crab tank with a fair bit of dom who fears spawns with her supression.

And what is the future of ATOs? I'm gonna be taking a guess.

Arachnos: Procs that summon pets that debuff and do toxic damage. General damage boosts of exotic damage types.

Tanker: More survability stuff, more absorb, heal, res and defence.

Scrappers: Higher sustained damage, with large spikes from crits.

Stalkers: Lower sutained damage than scrappers but much higher spikes, with procs that refresh powers or put debuffs on for more damage.

Brutes: More playing around with rage, focusing on upping damage.

Kheldians: A real tool box, heals on every attack, procs on diffrent forms, etc.

Corrupter: Self buffs and things to increase damage PBAoE

Defender: Team buffs and increasing HP and absorb.

Controller: Procs on mezzes and focusing more on locking down with some exotic damage

Dominator: Domination buffs, procs of +mez etc.

    Thanks for reading.

    Crab woes!

Yeah, the reason Black Scorpian is better is that the immbolize is better, the pet is better and shatter is a pretty good melee power if you need something to die.

Mu just doesn't give the sheer power, but the mu guy does heal like twice.

What is your budget for this build?
  23. Trilby

    Crab Tank

I disagree, longfan and channelgun, used with venom grenade (Longfang, channelgun, venom, longfang, channel repeat forever), forms the best single target attack chain.

As for tanking, I've come to realise that with the new updates on beta, provoke is nice but not really needed. I've been experimenting without provoke, but with hybrid (on beta) and a good dose of supression (on live) and venom and omega, I've been tanking high level groups through DA, tanked an ITF and a STF no problem, even managed to keep the patrons focused on me a fair bit.

If you are crab mage tank you should also look into pets, as they help keep aggro off team mates by attacking, and can immbolize and hold themselves.

Once again, I'm going to be pushing this build of mine.
It was built for the next set of ATOs, but if you swap the slotting in longfang to represent the next ATO with sheild breaker it is softcapped to all, 60% s/l, great damage (I solo AVs/GMs/tank iTrials all in this), good debuffing, as both my single and my PBAoE chain debuff res and def.

I also open with venom, omega or supression which mitigates the alpha greatly and does good damage.

    Crab woes!

It is being worked on. It is called "kick puppies for arachnos" and it is more a general crab guide, suggesting ways to reach soft cap, useful powers without ratings, talks about all the diffrent powers and diffrent ways of building.

I'm still just working through it, but it should be a good general guide.

    OK.

Lots of problems with this build. I think the main one is you have no defence. At all.

Crabs are meant to be tough, even if they are hovering back and shooting.

And your DPS is augement greatly by pets, so I suggest taking them. If you want ranged DPS, wolf powers are better.

I'll build you for good damage/survability, all range. As for Mu, I'll have a go with, but Mu offers little to nothing to you.

This build isn't perfect, but it offers good damage without going into purples/pvps. If you want a pure damage build, Blueruckus's is brilliant for damage and his pylon times are great. Look at that.
