    Power Myths!

Sonic Attacks is another set that is also falsely rumored to have lower accuracy than the other blast sets, supposedly as some trade off for the -Resistance it causes.

Yes, the Knockback and Sleep cones have accuracy penalties, but that's because they're AoE controls.

I would have sworn on a stack of Klondike Bars that I already posted this:

I was on a team where one player kept telling me to get closer. (I was a Blaster, on a good team. In that situation I don't DO "closer".) He finally explained that I'd hit more often if I got closer.

He was convinced that distance affected accuracy/to hit. No amount of "discussion" from the rest of the team would convince him otherwise, and he finally quit, saying we were all "lamas loosers". (still my favorite incoherent insult.)

Then I saw someone else describe virtually the same experience in the forums. I sure hope it was the same guy, and that there aren't TWO of him out there.

This reminds me of a STF I was on once. Mostly with friends, we had one member, a Rad Defender, that was picked up from a global channel.

During most of the AV fights, she would tell us to wait because she wanted PBU before she turned her toggles on. She swore up and down that if she hit PBU first, it would boost her debuffs (even Enervating Field) until the time she turned them off.

Everyone else on the team tried to tell her it only lasted for the duration of PBU, and that Enervating Field wouldn't be affected anyway, but she refused to believe us. She said it wouldn't be fair to toggle powers if that's how PBU worked with them and that she'd been playing this way for years and she knew what she was talking about and blah blah blah.

Eventually, we all just had to let her continue to be crazy, because we wanted to finish.

    Claws Costume?

BaBs has already chimed in on why this isn't possible. All the Claws attacks use a closed fist. For an open-hand version of the animations to be possible for the 'natural' claw look, you'd basically have to put a giant mit over the fists that looked like an open hand. And there are just too many issues with the tiny Female-body hands and gigantic Huge-body hands.

    +Defense powers lower Fury generation.

    Debuffs leech XP.

-Regen is required to beat an AV.

    New SF on Test

Hero version was easier. >_> Reichsman was sorta wimpy with a Rad, a Kin, and a TA.

Jesus... there's gotta be something in there we haven't been told about yet. That's huge.
  7. You gave up your title? Man, I'm still hoping to get a "Defender" title the way Liliaceae has "Dominator".
  8. Just did the LRSF the other night with 8 Corruptors. My AR/Traps was the tank and never died in the final mission (and only once on the whole SF).
  9. Mako has no resistances except his normal AV ones, and only has between 25% and 30% Defense (depending on if he's hidden or not) outside of Elude. His Elude boosts that by another 40%, but only lasts 30 seconds (though, recharges in 75 seconds).

You guys should have headed to WW and bought some yellows and he probably would have been really easy.

Attack type and damage type are two different beasts. An attack could do smashing damage but be typed energy, thus going against energy defense. This is rarely the case, but it apparently did occur in the past, and there may still be existing oddities although I can't think of any right now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Off the top of my head:

Fistful of Arrows is flagged Ranged_Attack (and Lethal_Attack), even though all other cones in Ranged damage sets are flagged as AoE_Attack.

Entangle used by the Plant Control pet is flagged as Ranged_Attack and Fire_Attack.

Just double checked this in the game:
    Combat attributes for zombies
    Info numbers for zombies

It's a good bit weaker than it reads, but the smashing resistance IS there.
Also, it appears that in the info tab the zombies armor scales up a LOT with level, where as in actuality it doesn't change much at all. I

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I had to guess, the info tab is showing their base resistance, multiplied by the damage enhancements slotted in to them. I'm guessing your zombies are slotted around 98% +Damage from enhancements?
  12. Anything/Anything, really. All the Stalker sets will allow you to solo quickly and successfully.

I predict that "Tyromancer" will be taken on every server by the end of today.

I happily solo my stalkers through 98% of all content. It's nice to not need anyone to succeed.

It is worth noting that Trickshooter is accurate about blasters having an edge in AE draining, at lower levels. However, by the 40s Defenders have caught up, and potentially surpassed, the Blasters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure I can see how that's possible. Honestly though, I'm just looking at numbers, and I understand that they don't necessarily tell the whole story or maybe I'm just not accounting for something.

There's no question that a Kin/Elec will drain a single enemy faster (almost instantly) with access to Transference, but otherwise it looks like Blasters get similar tools, plus more, on shorter recharge times.
  16. An Elec/Elec or Elec/Energy Blaster would be better for AoE draining.

For Elec/Elec, the Elec Blast part would drain the same amount as the Defender version, and Elec Manipulation has Power Sink on half the recharge time of the Defender Epic version as well as Lightning Field.

For Elec/Energy, again the Elec Blast part will be equal for both ATs, but Energy has Power Boost which will increase the amount of end drained by all the Elec Blast powers, and with simple slotting can be up 50% of the time, and with a little more effort, be perma. Defender's Power Build Up doesn't even compare.

Kinetics has Transference, which is a powerful single-target drain, but other than that... it's really doesn't offer much for draining.
  17. I'm pretty sure I'll be home and able to do this with any of my Corrs, but don't know for sure yet.
  18. Finally was able to get on Protector, hurrah!
  19. <-- Also an East Coaster playing on West Coast servers.
