  1. Done many co-op teams, and from what I can tell, hardly anyone even cares whether a controller or corruptor may or may not be better than a defender. Most people just tend to see all 4 buffing/debuffing ATs as support, and in that case, it's generally whoever asked first that gets a spot on the team. Priority goes to Rads or Kins, though. :P

Is Defender performance less than comparable to Corruptors? Possibly, and if it is, I'm confident Castle will see it and work on it. But will the Defender population suffer even if he doesn't? I question that.

Such is the nature of GIFs; they can only store so many colors. So when you have animated images like yours, where the alternating images each have many, many colors, it dithers some of them by "mixing" pixels of colors already in it's pallette to fake it.
  3. Trick Arrows/Archery
    Sonic Resonance/Sonic Attacks
    Kinetics/Psychic Blast
    Storm Summoning/Energy Blast
    Cold Domination/Ice Blast
    Dark Miasma/Dark Blast
    Forcefield/Sonic Attacks
    Empathy/Radiation Blast
  4. The only trailer for MUO never showed any gameplay, just 3D models, so we really don't know whether it looked anything like Champions or not. But I doubt they'd have just scrapped all they did for MUO and started over.

Besides, some costume pieces we can see in the "Show off your hero" thing on the Champions site are clearly originally from Marvel characters.

Or maybe I'll just do it myself later.
  6. All Hides are exactly the same, providing defense to all types but Psionic damage and all positions. The only reason Energy Aura's description is different is because the set was the only typed Defense Stalker set at CoV launch, so listing it that way was more important than listing it as +Def(Melee, Ranged, AoE) like the other sets were. It was overlooked for sets added after that, though, as you can see with the Willpower Hide, which was just copied from the other Hides.

    And on City of Data:

When a power is +Defense to all types and positions except Psi, it will list as Defense (Smashing, Melee, Ranged, AoE).

When a power is +Defense to all types and positions, including Psi, it will list as Defense (All types, Melee, Ranged, AoE).

  8. Some lethal resistance is common (generally between 15-25%), but never so bad that it's exceedingly frustrating, except maybe on ghosts and robots.

To be honest, I'm not sure if you'd even notice whether you're doing less damage or not unless fighting those two types of enemies.

Oh whoops, forgot all about the villain skin. I'll redo it as a PNG with a transparent background instead when I get home.

    And yeah, I use Photoshop.

The hero/villain/AT icons are by @Liz! / syrusb and if you guys like them (and it looks like a lot of you do), you should let her know!

    0.84 Shriek
    1.32 Scream
    0.81 Howl
    2.12 Shout
This is what the Defender and Blaster versions use, but the Corruptor version is

    1 Shriek
    1.4 Scream
    1 Howl

Shout is the same for all 3.

    Let's use the in-game info:

    [Corruptor_Ranged.Sonic Attacks.Shriek]

This is the Corruptor version of Shriek.

For a level 50 Corruptor, Corruptor Shriek does 41.71

For a level 50 Defender, Corruptor Shriek does 36.15

    [Defender_Ranged.Sonic Attack.Shriek]

This is the Defender version of Shriek

For a level 50 Corruptor, Defender Shriek does 35.03

For a level 50 Defender, Defender Shriek does 30.36

I'm pretty sure this was done to make sure that the Corruptor version performs better. If Corruptors used the same damage scales as Defenders, the difference between Shriek on the two ATs would be less than 4 points of damage at 50.

    1.00 Power bolt
    1.64 Power Blast
    0.96 Energy Torrent
    2.12 Power Burst

    1.00 Ice Bolt
    1.64 Ice Blast
    1.40 Frost Breath
    2.28 Bitter Ice Blast
These sets have higher base damage scales because those powers also take longer to recharge and have higher endurance costs. But that doesn't mean Sonic does less base damage than it should be doing. Shriek and Scream do exactly as much damage as attacks on 3 and 6 second recharges should do (except for Corruptors' version).

If Defender Shriek took 4 seconds to recharge, it would do scale 1 damage, but it takes 3 seconds to recharge, so it only does scale 0.84 damage. They follow the same damage/recharge/endurance formula as most of the attacks in the game.

Though it seems like we might be arguing different things. It sounds like your point was that some Sonic attacks do less damage than similar powers in other sets, and that's true, because they recharge faster. I was just making sure that you weren't saying that Sonic Attacks do less damage than they should be doing, as if they had some inherent damage penatly, which isn't the case. I was just making sure that it didn't become another "Sonic is nerfed out of the box!" thing like what happened when people were convinced the set had an inherent accuracy penalty.
  11. Just jumping in to say that Sonic does not actually do less base damage than normal. It does the amount of damage (for it's attacks that are actually... attacks) it should based on damage/recharge/endurance cost (except some of the Corruptor attacks, which are screwy).

Edit: It looks like possibly some of the Corruptor versions do more damage to make sure they compete well enough with Defender versions of those Sonic attacks.
  12. So, how'd you do this Double XP Weekend?

    Quote:
    Wastelands Earth/Sonic Controller 35-41

    Mascarado Energy/Energy Brute 32-33

    Fritellino Fire/Fire Dominator 32-33

    Passerino Dark/Shield Brute 29-33

    Operative Gray Arachnos Widow 19-27
I know it's not over yet, but I'm heading to bed and won't get to jump on before work tomorrow if it's still going.

And pleeeaaase, for now let's not fill this thread with the "i didnt get to do anything because of all the mapservers!!!!11!"

  14. I can't draw, so mine's a little traditional, but I like it.
  15. Defence... Defense... Defence... Defense...
  16. What constant login thing are you guys talking about? I haven't been logged out since the first time I logged in yesterday.
  17. It'll take some getting used to, but I like these boards.

*goes back to fixing the Current Defender Issues list*
  18. Because you can activate RoA from out of LOS, I think.
