Actually, most of the names I initially sent to Phil did have a strong protector-ish theme. Mostly "Celestial [Some-word-with-a-protective-element.]"

I vote we PM him the ones that were brought up in our PMs.

  13. Costume? Don't you see what's happening here, you fools? He's COMING FOR US!
  14. "Didn't...do...anything?" The officer shot incredulously, "You tried to break into the vault! Do you have any idea what we have to do to all those locks now?!"

Jack "Snaerr" Sharpe sighed and stifled his retort, but he couldn't help thinking it:

Locks? They may as well be doorbells, for all the security they don't have around here.

He managed to prevent himself from snickering at the interchange that ensued, but he couldn't help himself when-

"Me?!" Kasha blinked in apparent surprise at this as he stood straight again, "Nuh-uh! That was totally the Behemoth! I didn't have anything to do with that!"

At that, he had to let one out, but he managed- rather smoothly, in his opinion- to disguise it as a sneeze.

"You were the reason it got out in the first place!"

This time, the laugh was too pronounced to contain, and he promptly doubled over. Azuria shot him a look that might have melted glass, but continued.

"Ahem..." she cleared her throat almost the instant thereafter, regaining her composure, "My apologies. He has that...effect. Don't let him get to you. He is much more knowledgeable than he lets on."

So am I, but I don't irritate you that much- wait, nevermind.

Snaerr calmly waited for them to finish, then turned to Damsel.

"If I know Azuria- and I do- we'll probably be using some sort of portal. Hopefully not one we stole from the Circle of Thorns, but I'm not prepared to make any guarantees, not after that incident in Ouroboros."

I do think Natural should sort of dominate. I'm thinking this is a bit of pre-existing architecture that we repurpose, so I'd say it's a natural base with some tech equipment, and maybe a single room that's predominantly mystical (Or at least tech-free.)

  17. Hmm. I think a Tech/Natural hybrid, personally. Like, a Natural theme, but with random Tech stuff scattered here and there.

(Although if we're ever big-name enough to get the Orrery, I'm afraid I'll have to insist, it just fits too perfectly.)
  18. Aye, Cap'n! Their bounty o' pink boxes shan't escape our pillagin'!

  20. Personally, I feel that one of the best parts of the celestial thing is that it's rather ambiguous- it could apply to the angelic (Sky) the alien (The aliens) the mystical (Crystal), or simply anybody who was called upon as part of the group.

However, I do think we ought to determine things like a group symbol, if any, and whether we're arcane or tech or what, before we get into the name debate, just because I feel it's an issue that takes more thought and consideration- and may affect our choice of name.

  21. Open RP, you say? Well, I say this RP is relevant to my interests.

    1. Name: Snaerr

    2. Species: Human

    3. Physical: Italian-American male, average height, brown hair, grey eyes, wearing a silver spandex hero's uniform with blue starbursts. Eyes and hands have a tendency to glow on occasion, though typically his gloves and sunglasses obscure this.

    4. Power: Minor mystical abilities, Second Sight (Limited mystical vision), enhanced Ice-evocation

    5. Skills: Commands a vast array of occult and arcane knowledge, garnered from his arcane library.

    6. Limitations: Aside from the ice powers, his magic's really sort of pitiful.

    7. Weakness: Basically human, and weak to many hellfire-based powers. Has a phobia of the Lord of Winter and his affiliates, and is rather uncomfortable with many Circle of Thorns Nerva daemons as well. Also has a slight issue with alcohol. But only very slight. Really. I swear.

    8. Reason: Well, he owed Azuria a favor, and besides, it's just a nice thing to do in general.

Well, it doesn't really matter if it was or not (And it certainly read as ridicule) because it's irrelevant. My question was not "How do I solo this new content that's not meant to be solo'd?" It was "How can I quit this mission I'm not interested in playing."

And the question was resolved, and the resolution acknowledged by me, before they even posted to not-condescend to me about how I should just try harder.

I certainly didn't see even a suggestion of "obligation" or "chastising".
    Really?

'Cause "Rather than give up and say something is beyond your skill level to deal with, wouldn't it be better to raise your skill level so you can deal with those challenging situations?" sounds pretty damn condescending to me.

Ice Blast has two Hold powers, Freeze Ray and Bitter Freeze Ray, both of which are mag 3 Holds. You could either hit a Boss with those two powers one right after the other, or if you only have one of those, you can stack the Hold magnitude by firing the same power repeatedly when it recharges. Then you can attack freely between using your Hold powers.

Ice Manipulation has a third Hold power as well, Freezing Touch. You also have access to a mag 3 Immobilize power with Chilblain along with -recharge in Shiver and knockdown in Ice Patch.

Boss encounters should be trivially easy for an Ice/Ice blaster to deal with.

There are also inspirations. Their purpose is to help players overcome challenging situations. There are few things that can't be overcome by popping a few inspirations.

Rather than give up and say something is beyond your skill level to deal with, wouldn't it be better to raise your skill level so you can deal with those challenging situations?
One of those three holds aren't available at level 29. The other two would be fine if I were willing to take the respec. In fact, if I really felt some obligation to do this, I'd do it.

However, this being a game I don't feel I'm obligated to do anything, and am more than marginally annoyed that you'd presume to chastise me for not working harder to Play part of the game when I'd really rather not PLAY that particular part of the FRIGGING GAME right now.

Jesus, you sound like a father telling their bum son to get a job.

i guess there was thinking that a variety of cosmic powers had gathered their chosen champions and brought them together to face a coming threat (and journey together and grow together.) though we don't really know that (though sky might since she would be the one with the closest contact to her "power".)
Skyrider's really in the dark about the whole thing. Mostly she encountered the Archangel Michael by chance and he chose her to be his Champion. It doesn't exactly come with a running commentary on how to use it.

But that seems a lot better to me, the whole "Brought together by fate to protect the (world/reality/cosmos) from (insert-danger-here). And by a stunning coincidence, the term Celestial manages to describe both heavenly activities and astronomical ones.

So I vote we go with some theme involving the Celestial concept. And possibly the word Celestial.

    Man, I'm all excited now. >.>;;
