Journey to the Netherworld OOC
Looks interesting. Any specific sort of character preference, or anything and everything that might be connected with MAGI?

Characters
Alrighty then, you asked for it. I have been wanting for this guy to pay Azuria back for some of the help she's given him, but nothing's panned out so far. Let's see if it does this time.
1. Name: Vyachslav (Big V)
2. Species: Sun Eater (fictional designation; Vyachslav's species has no true name in the sense of a language and is referred to as Sun Eaters only due to their habit of 'eating' coronal plasma)
3. Physical: Vyachslav is a member of a race of space-dwelling lifeforms comparable in size and weight to an F-14 Tomcat. At home in the vacuum of the void between stars, they are built for and adapted perfectly to that environment, sporting an armored exoskeleton nearly devoid of soft tissue and a hydrogen-based metabolism geared to process just about anything into usable energy. Their favorite 'food' is the plasma found in the coronas of stars, though they will eat just about anything if necessary - including drifting asteroids - their strong claws and teeth enabling them to pick apart nearly any 'food source' into manageable chunks.
Some years ago, Vyachslav's unfortunate encounter with the business end of a heavy impulse cannon left him fatally injured, costing him most of his limbs, the bulk of his exoskeleton, and several major organs. Due to the complexity of his peoples' biology, cyber-reconstructive surgery was the only viable option to restore him to life. Today he is more metal and machine than flesh and blood, though the only true differences are the slick-black sheen of his artificial exoskeleton, the glow of his eyes, the replacement of his wing skin membranes by fields of coherent, formstable energy, and the integration of his formerly worn combat gear directly into his new body.
Vyachslav's physique remained unchanged, and is as long and slender (indeed, almost skeletal) today as it has always been. His hands are fully articulate, holding three fingers and a thumb each, and his feet are plantigrade; three long toes form more than half the base and footbridge, and a fourth points back to form a sort of clawed heel. This structure makes grasping simple (such as in the manner of a bird perching on a tree branch), but also gives Vyachslav an awkward, clumsy waddle when he walks on flat ground. As a result, he avoids walking as much as possible, and when it does become necessary, he either hunches forward to maintain a more comfortable balance, using his long tail as a counterweight, or resorts entirely to walking on both hands and feet.
His face does not presently and has never had expressive features. Lidless eyes, a lipless mouth from which jut a frightening number of large, jagged (and now metal) teeth, and a lack of nostrils or visible ears makes Vyachslav's countenance immobile, hard to read, and frightening to most humans. The fact that he does not breathe, his people lacking lungs (or for that matter, a respiratory system) doesn't much help.
4. Powers: technically none. Vyachslav's 'powers' are part result of natural evolution, part mere functions of the equipment he carries. While today integrated into his cybernetic prosthetics (and thus no longer worn by means of straps and harnesses), the cyber-reconstructive surgery had little overall effect on his capabilities.
Size - Vyachslav's large relative size makes him a tough and resilient opponent, as well as allowing him to stand a good chance at damaging physically imposing adversaries by virtue of sheer momentum. In addition, his stature allows for him to keep large opponents at bay and sufficiently occupied for his allies to operate with greater safety.
Armor - the cybernetic exoskeleton that keeps him alive is composed of Yntercite, an exotic combination of very rare materials. The resulting alloy is more deflective than resilient, decreasing the chance that an attack directed at Vyachslav will do damage, but only moderately protecting against direct harm. Integrated systems allow for adaptation however, making the armor more resilient the more damage it takes.
Claws - Vyachslav's long fingers end in claws. When faced with energy fields or materials too tough for them to cut on their own, Vyachslav can charge them with different types of energy, allowing him to damage to objects and entities that he could not normally harm.
Teeth - Vyachslav's teeth are extremely sharp. Backed by powerful jaws, they are able to cut and/or crush many a material.
Combi-Cannon - each of Vyachslav's lower arms holds a double-barreled artillery piece capable of discharging multiple types of energy, ranging from paralyzer blasts and cryo-cannon sprays to disintegrator beams.
Cutter - having lost the ability to 'spit' coherent energy naturally, Vyachslav has received a replacement: an industrial-strength pulse projector, which allows him to spew cutter beams with no more difficulty than before.
Munitions - Vyachslav carries several types of bombs and charges in his exoskeleton's storage compartments, including fluidic webbing that solidifies in contact with air, and molecular tear gas able to penetrate many kinds of chemical seals.
Flight - rather than relying on air and other gaseous media, Vyachslav's flight capabilities are based on flows of cosmic energies and stellar background radiation, enabling him to easily traverse the vacuum of space, and his cyber-reconstructive surgery impedes neither his atmospheric nor interstellar flight capabilities. Indeed, the compact linear module that has long since replaced his 'organic FTL drive' allows him to travel between star systems more quickly than ever before. In addition, the energy-based nature of his new wings enables him to deactivate them and store the 'projection fingers' in the shape of two pods against his back. While this has no functional difference from the former folding of wing skin membranes, it does reduce the space needed for storage.
Space-Faring - Vyachslav can comfortably tolerate both in extreme heat and tremendous cold and is able to survive without any sort of atmosphere.
Stealth - Vyachslav can easily mask his presence from other telepaths, and sophisticated deflector allows him to cloak himself in multiple layers of obfusciation, making him invisible across a wide band of the EM spectrum - including visual, thermal, and ultraviolet wavelengths - and narrow pieces of other bands.
Telepathy - naturally telepathic, Vyachslav communicates almost exclusively via his mind, and is able to shield himself from the ambient 'mind noise' that humans and many other intelligent creatures produce when they process conscious thought. By noting the 'mental frequency' of a person, however, he can choose lift this block to that specific frequency and 'listen' to the surface thoughts of that person, (at least in theory) regardless of distance.
5. Skills: Vyachslav is a skilled tactical coordinator and likes to operate in the background. He's also a surprisingly capable infiltrator.
Leadership - when able to, Vyachslav makes an excellent tactical coordinator. His own speed of thought, coupled with telepathic ability, allows him to not only convey instantaneous instructions to his allies, but also warn them of the plans of opponents. In addition, he is able to knit those he chooses together in a sort of 'mind link', routing their thoughts across the group and granting them direct access to one another's ideas, perceptions, and senses, all while maintaining complete individuality and independent creativity.
Covert Operations - though his deflector does not protect Vyachslav from detection by means such as echolocation, he is surprisingly lithe and stealthy for a creature of his size. So long as he has somewhere to hide that he can fit into, he can be quite difficult to detect - even when directing his allies in a combat situation.
6. Limitations: despite the volume of his bag of tricks, (and no matter how much he'd like to be) Vyachslav is mortal and by no means invincible. Just as his armor has its weak spots, so do his capabilities. In addition, though he does not have an ironclad code against it, he dislikes killing, and will usually go to great lengths to avoid it (if reasonable) by 'pulling his punches' so to speak - especially if there are noncombatants in the area.
Size - Vyachslav's large size makes him a prominent target along human-sized opponents. In addition, he simply cannot fit into places where humans can go very easily. Even when this is not the case, areas defined as spacious by humans more often than not are cramped conditions for him, forcing him to retract his wings (nullifying his ability to fly) and severely reducing his maneuverability.
Claws - though sharp to him, in human-size terms Vyachslav's claws are rather dull, and will not cut opponents of that scale so much as bludgeon them, often resulting in a lesser amount of harm than expected.
Teeth - Vyachslav's teeth cannot be charged with energy. If they cannot cut or crush something by virtue of being sharp or having a great deal of pressure behind them, they cannot do any damage.
Combi-Cannon - Vyachslav's preferred firing mode is that of the heavy paralyzer. While capable of knocking out large numbers of average beings for several hours in a single blast, the same is hardly ever true with supers. Many are able to mitigate the effects to that of being struck with a large poison darts or moderate-strength psionic blasts, and even the cryo-cannon doesn't always hold his opponents frozen for long before they are able to break free, emerge from, or otherwise escape the containment.
Telepathy - Vyachslav cannot 'enter the mind' of another individual. Only surface thought is accessible to him, though with some effort he can 'listen harder' to gain knowledge of the associated details of a thought - even ones the thinker may be unaware of, such as the mint date of a penny the thinker has been asked to picture and does not consciously remember. He cannot break through mental shields or barriers. In addition, if among a sufficiently large population of intelligent beings, were his ability to shield himself from the ambient 'mind noise' to fail, the resulting cascade of uncountable thoughts would likely drive him insane (or even kill him).
Lack of vocal cords - Vyachslav cannot speak. His only methods of communication are telepathy and (very crude) writing. The only sound he is able to produce is a high-pitched screech, created by repidly forcing any atmosphere currently in his throat out through the mouth. If caught in an area where telepathy is inhibited (or worse, not possible), Vyachslav may be entirely unable to communicate.
Inexperience - though technically only 2.5 seconds younger than his twin brother, Vyachslav has always been much less calculating and meticulous than his 'elder'. Though highly intelligent, he usually leaves it to others to concoct plans and strategies, focusing more on the tactical details in the local theater. While this is sometimes and advantage, it leaves him with a lack of mental adaptability and knowledge that comes with experience. While not often a problem, when left on his own against an opponent he's not faced before, this can become truly debilitating.
7. Reason: Vyachslav has long been an acquaintance of Azuria, and every now and then calls upon her for support. While at first reluctant to aid a 'villain', the administrator of MAGI has since put aside her reservations, aiding him when she can. To date, she has not asked for any help in return, but she knows that any time Vyachslav is present on the planet Earth, he is literally but a thought away...
Wow. That got long. >_> Well, there ya go. Oversized male alien nonhumanoid Night Widow with a few temp powers and a fudged epic pool because villains get no ice to play with.

7. Weakness: Human physiology is prone to fatigue and unconsciousness. Though permanent death within Paragon City's mediport network is unlikely.
8. Reason: Wife to Pious Hunter; Nighthunter; MAGI-affiliate sent to aid on the mission.
curveball made new idea i like better but still follows first idea
1. Name: Typhon
2. species: Titan, lives in netherworld
3. physical: humanoid, body made of black fire and magma with demon horns and wings of black fire.
4. power: fire control, flight, if he wraps himself in his wings he becomes almost invincible as most attacks will be burnt up in the flames (fire adds to it, water evaporates because of heat same with ice most weapons melt, energy attacks penetrate but are weakened) and when severly hurt the fire on his body ignites and covers a large area around him with extreme temperatures.
5. skills:excellent swordsman
6. limitations: can be killed but only by unearthly weapons(unless cooled by water) and powerful elemental attacks
6. weakness: water puts out his fire and cools the magma so he becomes vulnerable to earhly weapons
7. reason: rescued from forced labor under CoT by a hero sent by azuria wants to repay debts
In the beginning the universe was created, this upset many people and is widely regarded as a bad idea.

Open RP, you say? Well, I say this RP is relevant to my interests.
1. Name: Snaerr
2. Species: Human
3. Physical: Italian-American male, average height, brown hair, grey eyes, wearing a silver spandex hero's uniform with blue starbursts. Eyes and hands have a tendency to glow on occasion, though typically his gloves and sunglasses obscure this.
4. Power: Minor mystical abilities, Second Sight (Limited mystical vision), enhanced Ice-evocation
5. Skills: Commands a vast array of occult and arcane knowledge, garnered from his arcane library.
6. Limitations: Aside from the ice powers, his magic's really sort of pitiful.
7. Weakness: Basically human, and weak to many hellfire-based powers. Has a phobia of the Lord of Winter and his affiliates, and is rather uncomfortable with many Circle of Thorns Nerva daemons as well. Also has a slight issue with alcohol. But only very slight. Really. I swear.
8. Reason: Well, he owed Azuria a favor, and besides, it's just a nice thing to do in general.
Ice/Ice Blaster. Dedication to concept is an ugly thing.
Claws/WP Brute. Sex without the angst.
Every CoX character lies somewhere on this spectrum.
Y'know, after reading the intro to the RP thread, I think I'll go ahead and bring a different character.
1. Name: Sage (Kasha Athosien)
2. Species: Vrakht
3. Physical: Tall, lanky, and altogether too bony even for a Vrakht, a bipedal humanoid species possessing physical traits of hominid, reptilian, avian, and aquatic lifeforms. Roughly the size of a slightly above-average human, Kasha's body is covered from head to toe in a fine layer of white-to-deep orange microscales that mesh rather well with his short, wild, and falu red hair, the same hue present in his eyes. Small, somewhat dull claws grace the tips of his four0fngered hands, as well as each of the three large toes of his seemingly oversized feet, their width surprising considering that Vrakht are indeed plantigrade. His batlike ears are large and somewhat mobile thanks to their fan-like structure, and cerulean tattoos decorate the sides of his lower jaw and legs, as well as running down the entire length of Kasha's tail. While not fully prehensile, this fifth limb does form a useful counterbalance and is decently mobile.
4. Power: Immortality. Having made a deal with a powerful Prince of Hell, Kasha cannot truly die. If his body is killed (which surprisingly enough hasn't happened since the deal's inception), his spirit automatically returns to the City of Dis. From there, all he need do to obtain another is step back into the physical world...assuming the imps haven't backed up traffic again. Aside from this, Kasha has little more power than a very athletic human, though his speed and great flexibility do stem form his alien physiology.
5. Skills: Close-quarters martial marksman. While most people would agree that a gun is something best used from far away, Kasha finds that getting up-close and personal greatly extends his awareness of the situation. Nevertheless, he tries to avoid full-on melee engagements and isn't against resorting to long-range tactics should the situation calls for it. His ability to track things and individuals through terrain that by all logic should foil any such attempt is not unimpressive either.
6. Limitations: No intrinsic powers. Though often armed and armored better than many a super, without his gear, Kasha is little more of a threat than a human with military training. Luckily, he does have ways of calling such gear to him under certain circumstances.
7. Weakness: Kasha's lackadaisical and oft-cocky attitude has the tendency to get him into all sorts of trouble. The fact that his skills as an expert, undetectable covert operative exist mostly in his head doesn't help much either.
8. Reason: Has robbed MAGI of artifacts on several occasions. Time for some payback.

I made an ae mission for the "story" i made up in my head that sorta followed the plot we are doing its called Journey to the netherworld and has 2 avs that are really hard if u wanna try it out
In the beginning the universe was created, this upset many people and is widely regarded as a bad idea.
Dont hate the minty freshness
"Um, excuse me." Kasha piped up again, trying to raise a finger, but restricted by the chains, "About that, actually. Which hell is this? 'Cause you know, there's several and all that. I might not actually know anything about this one..."
|
On to Kasha-the-Lizard-Rat's perfect question. I'll answer it OOC before I do so IC. For obvious reasons, we'll use the Hell settings similar to does presented in-game. That is the lava-esque landscapes found in Bat'Zul Hell or the Cavern of Transcendence. How are we getting down there? Tramontane's last post was so spot-on it made me lol. I will PM Devious Me about some things I had in mind concerning manoeuvring the Hell realms, since his character will be the acting guide. Just a little something involving a market-place and a tour-map seller.
Don't get you hopes up the storyline is only vaguely similar and its mostly just killing a bunch of lizard guys but when the story develops ill make it better and go in with a large team i spent an hour wailing on the first av with a blaster and tank in invincibility mode and we never saw his health move
EDIT: just made the second AV a GM so itl b more interesting if u play it good luck!

1. Name: Illusionist
2. Species: Human
3. Physical: A human of average height and weak looking build. He has almost no muscle and could probably stand to lose a few pounds. He also has bone white skin and his eyes are set deeply in his skull. They are black and sometimes they seem to sparkle with magic, as though two stars were embedded in his head. He is dressed in a blue trench coat with a hood. His mouth is covered by a purple cloth to conceal his identity. He wears gloves and sneakers. His pants are blue and covered with swirls.
4. Power: Has control over people's perception of reality, and to a lesser extent of reality itself. He mostly creates illusions to fool his enemies though he can also steal their strenght to aid his allies. He has a very limited ability to mold reality to his will, which is made stronger in more malleable realms, such as the netherworld.
5. Skills: He has a working knowledge of magic and can use most magic items and scrolls. He can read ancient runes and has a good a knowledge of the netherworld as any magician. He carries a small revolver with silver bullets in it which he can enhance with his magic to fire at higher velocities. He also carries small magical trinkets in his pockets.
6. Limitations: Most of his magic comes from his belt. The belt has a small mirror set into it which is made from dream sand. If he is seperated from it his power begins to fade. His illusions can't fool creatures with a strong will and his magic is very bad at actully injuring people. He carries the gun with him because its really the only way he can kill anything.
7. Weakness: He is a physically unfit human not wearing any sort of body armor. He can heal himself and others but he can be easily overwhelmed.
8. Reason: He is a MAGI afflicted superhero who managed to be in the right place at the right time.
1. Name: Ron Bolton, Superhero name: Rotten Luck
2. Species: Human Zombie (Technically more of a Mummy then Zombie but still classed as such)
3. Physical: Tall, male Caucasian dressed in a long black coat.
4. Power: Due to an odd mix of magic Rotten Luck is a Zombie with a Soul. Able to regenerate damage and nearly unstoppable (Will Power Tanker). He channels the dark magic that powers him into his attacks able to absorb mater causing a decaying like effect on what he absorbs (Dark Melee).
5. Skills: Not much skill Rotten is a living... or more to the point Living dead blunt force weapon.
6. Limitations: Rotten Magical energy is mostly stored in his nervous system. As he is damaged more energy is directed to repairing him and he looses mental functions. This causes him to become more of a mindless fighting brute then a thinking entity as time goes by with out feeding. At the point of zero energy he drops dead as the corps he is only to get back up in a mindless hunger best to have extra rations for such an event.
7. Weakness: Given his nervous system acts as a battery for the magic that keeps him moving he is weak against Toxic damage.
Strength: Being dead mental attacks and Psi damage has even less effect then physical attacks.
8. Reason: Being nearly unstoppable and able to absorb and convert almost all Mater into magical energy Rotten seems to have a better chance then any to survive the Abyss.
Okay, roll call! Lets look at the team line up.
Friends of the Missing
1. Pious, a well-armed angel using light-based magic and a large pair of feathery wings. (Luminous Blaster, aka Peacebringer + Temp Powers)
2. Damsel, an assault rifler using electric-based powers. (Assault Rifle & Devices Blaster, Electric Mastery)
Indebted to Azuria
3. Typhon, a fiery titanic demon armed with swords and a large pair of burning wings. (Fiery Aura & Dual Blades Scrapper?)
4. Snaerr, a spandex-clad magic-type hero with ice-based powers. (Ice Blast & Ice Manipulation Blaster)
5. Sage, a theiving vrakht demon armed with an oversized rifle and knowledge of hell's lower realms; the City of Dis. (Assault Rifle & Devices Blaster?)
Curiousity Killed the Cat
6. Illusionist, a skilled magician with reality-bending powers. (Illusion Control & Kinetics Controller?)
7. Rotten Luck, a mummified zombie powerhouse enforced by dark magic. (Dark Melee & Willpower Tanker)
Other Reasons
8. Hmm, we don't have an 8th man yet, just flying mages and jet-propelled policebots I guess.
Looks like a well-balanced team so far. Good range of elemental types too; Light, Electric, Fire, Ice, Metal, Air, Dark etc. Should add some spice and flavour.
Yeah, Snaerr's a straight Ice/Ice blaster. When he gets his mastery he'll be an Ice/Ice/Cold blaster. Just about what it says on the tin.
Ice/Ice Blaster. Dedication to concept is an ugly thing.
Claws/WP Brute. Sex without the angst.
Every CoX character lies somewhere on this spectrum.
Oh forgot to mention Rotten's Mastery. His build is Willpower/Dark Melee/ Energy Mastery
Yeah kind of over kill with Regen and Recovery. When I said he was nearly unstoppable I meant it!
Pardon the terse exit, but starting tomorrow, I have no idea whether or not I'll have internet access for the next 6 months. If so, Sage will reappear in some comically random spot quite soon. If not, well, I guess I'll see ya when I see ya.

I hope the Internet thing works out for you Devious, you were really funny to play with. I'd miss you if you we're gone for 6 months. On the plus side when you reappear to save us when we all get in trouble, you could always say you teleported from the car to where we are, and time just flowed weirdly.
Also Illusionist is in fact an Illusions/Kinetics controller.
:/ Just as a heads up to everyone I wil be gone for a week starting on the 20th so if Devious cant use interneet we might have a problem

"Tyrone, it's me Pistol" said Alicia, talking into her cellphone. "I need you to get in touch with Pious Hunter and the others... Excuse me? Well, you never told me Antonio was stranded in the Netherworld. You should have called me anyway. Listen I’ve gotta go, I've made some arrangements and err, I'm going to get him... I'm going back to hell."
The motorcade of black SUV's had just rolled out of the suburbs when a figure in dark trenchcoats stepped into the middle of road, apparently out of thin air. The driver of the first car screamed in agony as his skin sparked on fire. He hit the brakes so suddenly that the whole vehicle nose-flipped into the air. The metal shell seemed to spin forever until it came crashing into a pool of hot lava in an alien environment.
1. Name: Arcane Hero
2. Species: Human
3. Physical: Tall, male Caucasian dressed in a long black coat.
4. Power: Can channel negative energy into projected blasts.
5. Skills: Wields two modified handguns and a katana.
6. Limitations: Powers can only affect an immediate radius of twenty-feet.
7. Weakness: Human physiology is prone to exhaustion and mortal wounds.
8. Reason: MAGI-affiliate sent to aid on the mission.
The above pictured monster is the demon Nasfahtu whose arrival will mark the closing of the RP. The battle against Nasfahtu will likely be GM'd along the lines of the Chimera fight. Other reasons why your hero (or villain) might be involved in this mission is if they're a friend of MAGI or any other FBSA organisation, randomly passing by at the time of team formation, naturally aware of movements across the Nether realms or actually present down there during the course of the mission. This RP is not based on or limited to your servers. Thanks for your interest.
