kinda looks like they're attempting to cater to a Korean market with the new costume styles. The artwork is very Aion and very Korean.

I enjoy playing a Rad/sonic Defender in zone teamed up with a stalker. Rad is pretty and people rage when they get TKed debuffed and ASed. d;D

Quote:You don't have to be a PvPer to realize PvP is in desperate need of repair I.E. a joke and continuing to insult me won't change the fact that it is. I'm sorry if the truth makes you mad.I'm not mad, if anything sad for the state of PvP in a game where it was once much better.
I really don't need to launch personal attacks in your direction. Its widely known you aren't that good, and as hard as it might be for you to accept, it is nothing personal when I say that. Some players are bad, some are good, some are just mediocre. Some players get better, others don't.
What I will say though is you don't consider yourself a PvP'er but take part in PvP zones and Arena on a build (while not FoTM) follows a trend of PvP builds just makes you come off like you are making excuses for not being that strong of a player in a game that has been established to be both easy and not all that competitive.
All I was really doing was reinforcing what Xanatos said in that, before you call something a joke, you should try to be at least mediocre.
Mac accepted this truth a long time ago and he moved on.... well sort of, I've seen him around on virtue. -
Quote:I'd love PvP not to be a joke in this game. I'd be lying if I said any different. But I accept it for what it is, a joke. I'm not trying to convince you of anything, I'm telling you it's a joke. A joke can still be fun but recognize it's a joke. :PYou don't pvp, you just hang out in rv trolling people and leeching kills. If you fail in these endeavors you whine in broadcast that you're bored. The worst thing about it is you're so tediously repetitive and so blandly fake. I don't consider myself a badger. I don't hang out in whatever section of the forums badgers frequent and try to convince them that I don't care about it --"mah corp would laugh at mee!"
-
Quote:I wouldn't even consider what we do in zone PvP. sure it can be fun and loads of laughs at other peoples expense, so is KB. They're good pointless fun. Not sure who you are preaching to as I've never considered myself a pvper especially in context with this game (I'd be laughed out of my Corp if I did).I think you just misunderstand when people are talking about Zone PvP vs. 8 v 8 Arena. The latter is competitive in the sense of its one team vs. another rather than just a random free for all of people throwing damage and trying to spam through heal decay. You might also hear terms like "Organized PvP" used in its place. KB barely counts in this case.
No one really considers PvP "Competitive" in the sense of having a full ladder, hundreds of globals, regular practices, matches, things like that.
Not to get into personal attacks that much, but being bad in such an easy game would immediately make me question what said person would know about what competitive really is. Its like saying Chess is an easy game while consistently losing in Candy Land.
Personal insults make you come across as angry. I hope you're not angry. d;D -
Quote:You'd be surprised how many people think they pvp competitively in this game. Check out Xan's post. For the record, I am usually one of those that defends the devs....and cant stand the whiners...buuuut...
Seriously, I do not think ANYONE calls CoH pvp competitive anymore. I was never a "hardcore build" PvP'er, but did pretty good in my own right with it, and had fun, even on bad days. BUT GEESH! I can't even stand to go into the zones anymore.
I want the old PvP back. I want to get agitated at you hardcore PvPers with your super builds, and laugh when I get lucky!
I remember on boards, warning those that were complaining about PvP.....*sighs* -

So quick question concerning Paragon Rewards...
Since I was never around for base raids could I use my Paragon points to purchase base raids? If I can purchase base raiding, does that mean the developers will have to run off and immediately fix the base raid system since I purchased it? -

Quote:I'm having the same problem with my Ati radeon HD 5700 series. So it's an issue they are aware of and have been aware of for some time.Hi Memphis Bill - funny I just updated my ATI drivers to 11.6 in the hopes that would fix the problem - should I go back to older drivers?
It's funny - I stopped playing about 3 - 4 months ago when I wasn't experiencing any crashes but since I've been back the last couple of weeks I average a crash every hour r so of play
I'm sure they'll address the driver issue once they have addressed more important issues like victorian bustier clipping with other costume pieces and sideburns. -
Quote:Can't wait to see you. Pirates of BBQ bay, War Machine and Spearmen are all coming back for GW2. PvPers here don't realize how much of a joke calling CoH pvp 'competitive' really is. Hope everyone joins us in GW2.O M G. After a two year break from the game so much has changed I consider myself a nooob all over again. Its like a reintroduction of sorts but, um errr why do i feel like i need to know advanced physics in order to pvp. I play in PVE and everything seems so familiar so cozy. I play chars that i have had since forever and they just feel natural. THEN, I step into a pvp zone and it feeels like i just walked into the TWILIGHT ZONE. Everything is so alien. My powers dont perform like advertised in pve. I keeep running around RV thinking Ashton Kutcher is gonna jump out at any moment and scream yo, you been punked. Biggest practical joke the Devs ever conceived since ED. Even then i could forge through ed and the Controller "rebalancing" of issue 6. But this this is just wrong on so many levels.
They finally did what we joked about since arena first came. Made everyone Generic Heroes #1-X. For what we have in pvp now why not just Strip the auras, costumes, and capes; take away every power but brawl and let us brawl each other to death. Well basically thats what it is now anyway just a brawl fest with some pretty sparks and now you can color your brawl power a pretty lil pink color. With what we have now rename this to City of Vanilla Flavored manikins. Or better yet City of Vanilla Flavored Manikins vs. KM/scrappers and Psi/EM Blasters. Seriously wtf. O and btw LOve the letter OP/em off to wait for GW2 -
Quote:If I told my doctor "It hurts when I raise my arm" and he tells me "then don't raise your arm." I am getting a new doctor... If it hurts when I breath, I don't expect the doctor to tell me to stop breathing.
I don't see, logically, how playing a game you hate can be healthy for you either. One of the most well know exchanges of "Doctor, it hurts when I raise arm" "Then don't raise your arm" comes to mind.
Thoughts?
This is a similar symptom with MMOs. I may complain about the MMO, but that doesn't mean I'd like to stop playing the MMO. Criticism is a very large part of how improvements are made to a game. -
I have a better idea. How about we DON'T have a VIP server at all. Dividing the community further is a stupid idea and the devs are stupid to implement it. Instead why not implement cross-server instancing for platinum or VIP members and a VIP/platinum only channel for the elitists to chew the fat.

Quote:It's funny how people default to name calling when they lose an argument, ain't it?Wrong. Do you even bother to read anything? Or do you just hasten to throw together the biggest string of psuedo-intellectual garbage in order to make yourself sound informed and relevant?
For the sake of the discussion:
X = A vast majority of players offering complaints about the (at that time) current PvP system.
A "complaint" can also be likened to an "opinion", which is certainly not a universal truth. Your argument has already been invalidated, while my example still stands.
I'm still right.
Besides "psuedo-intellectualism?" Really? it's basic math brah, just thought it would be easier to understand with some maths...besides there's no such thing as universal truths. -
Quote:Luxuns you put much too much thought into this. I would love to read your ideas for new hats. I hear the devs read those.Which at this point looks like its never going to happen; two rounds of incarnates and we haven't been asked how it's affecting PvP at all. If they were going to do it, they should have done testing after alpha was released and again with the next 4. Broad, sweeping changes worked so well the first time....
Pessimism aside, an open PvP server would be awesome and perhaps breath a little bit of extra life and flavor into a repetitive game. If this idea ever was on the table, there are a few issues that have to be overcome for it to be successful.
1. Size of the game world vs player population. Currently there are 3-6 zones in each level range where someone could do missions or street-sweep. This would have to be consolidate to get any actual pvp going.
2. PvP ruleset kills PvE. Unfortunately I13 pretty much killed any chance of mixed pvp/pve content. By essentially splitting pvp and pve into 2 separate games, it would be difficult to bring them back together.
3. PvP rewards are not good enough. For a PvP server it should be a viable option to level through PvP. That's pretty much impossible with the way the reward system works.
Ideally if I had the power, this is my version of a PvP server...
- Everyone has to make a new character, upon character creation you choose one of 3 sides to fight for. (Resistance/Hero, Villain, or Loyalist) 3 sides instead of 2 because in my experience 3 sides find a better balance among player numbers; any less usually ends up lopsided, any more diluted.
- All characters start and progress through the same zones to encourage PvP and prevent spreading of the population. A good progression might start in the new galaxy city, followed by the hollows, then Praetoria to 20, Faultline to 25, Dark Astoria to 29, St. Martial to 34, 35-39 RWZ, 40-44 Grandville, 45+ Peregrine. The level range in a zone should be locked, ie you can't get into a zone until you're within the proper range, and exemplared if you're above the range. These zones were chosen for their appropriate size, story-line significance, or cool factor. Zone selection doesn't really matter, as long as it's limited.
- There should be 3 safe areas, Pocket D and Ouroboros, and your SG Base, that's it. Some other mandatory ones are hospitals should be like the villain one in WB, and that no power room in the AEs. Remove any drones from the other areas. This way the population polices itself. There is AE if you want to pl someone or farm, but there can always be someone waiting for you.
- Strike and Task forces should be added to the LFG tool. Any mission that requires a zone not available on the PvP server should be accessed through ourobors crystals. Any hunt missions on TFs should be removed, because they're pointless anyway.
- Add a PvP queue to the LFG tool. This allows a chance you'll randomly be ported into someone else's mission. PvP in this manner should always consist of equal numbers; if you're solo, you'll only get a solo player in your mission, etc. If you defeat the mission holder, you are teleported out of the mission. If you are defeated within your own mission, you will not have another random player enter during that mission (to prevent griefing but not making mission soloing a completely safe route). The same rule applies per mission in a strike force. If random enemies enter your mission, the mission cannot be completed until those enemes, or yourself are defeated.
- Killing a player should net rewards equal to a mission completion bonus. This makes leveling through PvP viable.
- The current PvP ruleset would have to be heavily modified or removed to allow for fun play. Also, until its properly tested and balanced for pvp, incarnate abilities/powers should be suspended.
At least, that's what I think. But i'm a noob. -
Quote:Hey Soto, good to see you are interested in PvP. d;DI was just thinking that since they are adding a new server for VIP’s, why not create an New Open World PvP Server. I would think it would be fun to PvP in every zone, but if you want you will still be able to do missions and level up on the Open World PvP Server: however you will be an open target when not in a mission and you will have to watch your back. Every zone you enter you will be automatically lowered to the lever of each zone. For example if you enter Steel Canyon (Hero City Zone level 10-19) you will be Ex or Mal down to level 19 to match the zone. I think Atlas, Galaxy City, Mercy Island, Nova Praetoria, Rikti War Zone, Ouroboros, Cimerora, and Pocket D should be neutral zone and all other zones should be Open World PvP. Is this idea good or bad?
P.S. I do not know if this was ever suggested before, but I bet it has.
With that said the Developers however are NOT as interested as you are in PvP. Matter of fact the developers came out and said in a forum post that the interest in pvp just wouldn't justify the development time to repair it.
I think it would be cool if you were able to flag yourself for open world pvp as well in this game. Unfortunately the devs don't and there's a lot of animosity towards any form of open world pvp from the general public. So I doubt a server dedicated to open PvP would be in the cards anytime soon. Sorry! d;D -
Quote:You are wrong. Shut Up.okay. Question.
Just how many people do you think are actually interested in this?
Are you aware that from the launch of issue 4 colosseum in may 2005 to the release of issue 13 in december 2008 the percentage of the player-base partaking in "pvp content" never rose above single digit percentages?
Quote:Are you aware that after the release of issue 13 the existing pvp-player base says the community shrunk and that players left the game?
i can give you one good reason why the devs shouldn't create an open world pvp server: nobody cares. -
Mac, I thought you left with all the other smart people. What happened?

Quote:If Noxious "were" changed to an alley toggle you can bet your first born I'd be screaming for the change to be ported to MMs. d;DPersonally, I think the Mastermind version SHOULD be changed to be 'Target Ally' rather than being restricted to ONLY pets.
I mean, this is the ultimate power in /Poison and it is really only one step above Poison Trap in usefulness because it depends on AI of pets...which really sucks. -
So, I recently read up on the proliferation of Poison across Corr and Controllers and am very excited about the news! except for one minor detail; the effects of Noxious Gas.
Ever since I've played a Poison MM I have always wished I could throw Noxious Gas on Melee teammates.
Personally I would really like to see Noxious Gas as an alley toggle similar to Sonic Secondaries Disruption field and to balance add Telekinesis's endurance cost.
I realize there are many arguments against alley toggles but a power such as Noxious Gas (which is an insanely awesome debuff) I believe the benefits greatly outweigh the harm.
Curious as to others thoughts on whether they like the idea of a PbAoE or have some other ideas how Noxious Gas could be utilized. -
Quote:So what you're saying is that if the development team wanted to take the time to repair PvP the developers could and it isn't simply a matter of development time or insufficient work force. Rather it's a question of whether developers feel it is worth allocating development time and labor to?That's not even remotely close to being true. Its only true when people start redefining things to make it true. Are things like Sutter "Incarnate content?" Well, they are far below the level where incarnate powers even work, don't generate incarnate rewards (any more than all standard content drops shards) and don't even use the incarnate raid mechanics. On the other hand, they mention Incarnates somewhere, so people say that counts as incarnate content. Ditto the Cooling and Ross arcs.
The zone events in Praetoria are apparently incarnate content because they take place in Praetoria. So ditto the added missions in Praetoria.
QoL changes and power customization don't count, because they aren't playable content. Map updates for task forces and Calvin Scott in general don't count because that's just updating old content, not making new content.
What we're eventually left with is not that almost everything since incarnates arrived has been incarnate content, but rather all instanced content since incarnates have arrived has either been incarnate content, mentioned incarnates, existed in Praetoria, or is an update of previously existing content.
That's so many qualifiers the statement ceases to say anything interesting. And we now have a better idea of what is coming in Issue 21, and Issue 21 is not in any way shape or form focused solely or primarily on Incarnates.
So I consider this oft repeated statement that the end game has sucked up all the oxygen from the development team to be objectively false. It isn't even close enough to require careful counting. -
This is what I run on Virtue in RV for fun if you decide to run Defender Rad/Sonic. I use her mostly for PvE but the build is decent for PvP. I like to waste influence.
Mr. Liberties build is your best option if you plan to PvP like a post i13er.

Quote:Z is only a logical conclusion if X and Y are both truths. I can draw out a truth table using your set: X,Y,Z if you like but I believe we can both agree that true conclusions should be drawn from true premises by acceptable rules of reasoning. The vast majority of players that spent years complaining about unsuppressed travel gave Castle the justification to say that the aforementioned mechanic was not working as intended.
If X leads to Y, then Z is a logical conclusion. And yet here you are getting overly defensive about it.
The playerbase plays just as much a part in administering changes to the game as the developers, positively or negatively.
Considering PvP had been ported from PvE without its own rule-set it's safe to conclude that Travel WAS working as intended as they had absolutely no intention of creating an entirely new rule-set for PvP prior to i13. Castle was and still is wrong. Meaning his reasoning was FALSE.
Now, lets assign Y = "Castle's Justification": (Y(Castle's Justification))=False
Your preposition: X ∪ Y = Z (assuming X and Y are both truths)
If and X= True Y=False Z=Truth
You see where I'm going with this?
Conjunction junction What's your Disjunction?! logic is FUN! d;D -
Quote:So we are trusting the word of a developer now? A developer known for being less than forward in the past? He (Castle) says some invisible community in the hundreds e-mails him supporting his changes? I didn't buy that then and I don't buy that now.You are missing his point - the vast majority are the pvers who all complained - "my melee toon is useless they just run away" "I almost get a kill and an emp heals them" "Phase and Hiber is unfair" ...and on and on.
Castle justified i13 as the vast majority wanting these changes when the active pvpers were totally against it. He posted once "for every one of you saying you don't want it I have 100 emails saying they do." Proof of that was the anti gank code they tried to impliment in pvp, which was the biggest complaint of pvers "I walk into rv and 10 heroes/villians jump me."
Quote:Nevermind teaming fixed that. Persoanlly I wish they guy who wrote the "this is a pvp zone you can be attacked at any time" msg was in charge of pvp.
The devs are not the few. They did not just dream up these changes. They capitulated to the vast majority who complained about pvp. The vast majority told them why they didn't like pvp so they changed it, and they still didn't show up and lost the pvpers they did have.
Quote:p.s. Vindizzle was in Velocity one of the best pvp sgs in the game and probably around for most pvp changes before and after i12. -
Quote:You're blaming everyone BUT the pvp community for the implementation of i13?The "select few" that you're talking about would be the active PvP community. The vast majority would be the playerbase that whined for changes so that they would, in fact, finally give PvP a shot.
i13 changes were on account of the vast majority, not the select few.
That's just dumb. How long have you been playing this game? Were you around when i13 was in test? Do you remember the countless PvPers AND PvErs who voiced that they were both NOT in favor of these changes?
Seriously what you posted makes you come across as a newb. Blaming some "Vast Majority" when it WAS a "select few"; The Developers.
