Quote:Why make it a toggle? Why not treat it like a rez power? "Would you like to accept noxious gas yes/no." Allow for its duration to begin once the person denys or accepts it. But honestly, I don't see WHY it would need to be treated like a toggle or rez. It doesn't cause mobs to run away.As it stands, Noxious Gas grants an Auto power to the pet/target it's being cast on. When it's you pet, you know they aren't going to care about the aggro it generates being put on them. Other powers that do similar things (top of my head, only Sonic has an ally oriented PBAoE debuff) are toggles, so if they bother someone, they can be shut off. NG as it is now could be put onto anyone and give them issues. This is why Adeon said it should be a toggle for Corruptors while remaining the same for Masterminds.
Of course, making it into a toggle will force them to reduce it's effectiveness and/or give a significantly high end cost/recharge. Unless they use the same kind of "toggle duration" code used for Hibernate and Phase Shift-type toggles. Either way, it's probably not going to be as good as it is now if ported to Corrs. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing the set on something that doesn't have to use pets to dish out damage. DP/Poison would be awesome.... -
Quote:I don't see the point in comparing the two markets. What do you feel is right with it? This is really a curiosity question. I'm not looking for debate or to start fighting. I really want to know what it is that people feel is good about the red market.
For me, its nice that it is bare when I am trying to sell, but horrid when I am looking to buy. I'm cheap, and have a lot of toons that need stuff, so I hoarde enough that I have to visit the market rarely. -
Quote:I agree, supplies tend to be lower redside.Ok, perhaps I was unclear at some point... I have a 50 brute, 39, 37 and 32 masterminds and a few other vils of various levels. My brute is pretty much completely IO'd out (not purples or anything, but respectable sets and uniques) and the MM have at least common IO's for everything and I have something in the neighborhood of 500 mil in liquid and stored IOs. By no means an ebil marketeer but I'm not a pauper redside. Making the money isn't tough, finding useful things to do with it for a non 50 character is the issue. My redside characters were IO'd out two years ago before I left the game for a while, which is good because I wouldn't want to try to do it in the current market (I prefer 30-35 IOs for the flexibility of ex'ing down).
Making the money is not tough, the only people trying to say that are those who were trying to act like I was incompetent at the market without any information in that regard. In regards to your above points specifically, I never buy IO's period. Common or otherwise. Always, ALWAYS ALWAYS buy recipes and craft your own. As for posting yeah, slightly under the going rate is my approach. Something going for 20 I would probably post for 17-18 depending on what it is, posted as 18,000,777 or something similar so a bit of 18 won't get it and the lazy bid creeper will tack on another 500K-1mil or so usually. Making money is as easy as playing the game and not licking windows in your off time. My issue, stated again and again in this thread is one of supply. There simply is not access to fun shiny toys for leveling characters redside. This detracts enough from the play for me that I don't want to play red in that environment.
Can't wait for vigilante status from GR.
However, I don't see that as a market problem as much as I do a population problem. -
Quote:So, what's wrong with the market?I've been watching this thread for a little while, and I have to ask this.
What makes people think that the villain market is fine? Really, I want to know. What is it about the villain side market that is fine? Prices? nope. Item availability?
I sure haven't seen it.

Quote:That was actually a direct response to someone else who assumes I'm not being truthful specifically regarding the damned circuit boards no one can seem to see past.
I'm not actually interested in marketeering at all. As I have stated more than once, making money isn't tough at all. Heck, I've only been blueside a couple weeks and I've got somewhere around 150 mil liquid, another 20 in bids and another 50 in posted ios waiting to sell. That's based solely off of drops and ae tickets rolls I made while leveling and I still kept a bunch of choice bits for myself (regenerative tissue regen, steadfast res/def global etc) as well as buying a couple 5 piece Crushing Impacts (plus the beginnings of two more sets) and starting on some doctored wounds sets. Everything else in my build is frankenslotted or has basic common IO's (fast healing and the like get common IOs until the build has enough slots open to use them as a set mule or something) Making money, even without "playing the market" isn't difficult in the least, and I never tried to say it was. It's a matter of not having anything to spend it on when playing redside that is the issue here.
I would however really like some sweet sweet merit shiny toys like lotg 7.5s and the like. Because I like to put shiny things on my character.
And I would challenge your integrity for being more interested in trolling the thread than adding something to it. I still didn't put forth any hard evidence, and don't intend to. See, everyone said something that disagreed with my personal experiences so I tested it. Not for them, not for you, not for proof... because I like the red ATs and play environment a bit better. I would prefer to play red, but have not found the market serviceable to do so. It really doesn't much matter if you or anyone else believes me, because I wasn't testing for you, I was testing for me.
I promise you..if you can manage a few tfs on redside, (200 merits isn't difficult to manage in a week) you can make twice to 3 times more on redside than on blueside by purchasing a lotg and selling it on the market. It takes VERY little effort..trust me, i'm REALLY, really, lazy.
With that cash you can
a) start outfitting your toon with IO sets or generic/common IOs. (Ask someone from your VG that has memorized the generic/common IO to craft it for you, you supply the difference and the salvage. NEVER purchase generic/common IOs from the market.)
b) Find a niche for a few crafted IOs and buy up the recipes and start crafting and selling (try not to supply more than how many are bidding, it keeps demand up. Never use whole numbers when posting prices, however post slightly lower than the going price.
I'm just asking you to try, take a bite..I promise you'll like it. -

No.
But it doesn't always assure that victory for him is GIVEN.
You better hope your opponent is brain dead if you expect to beat them at tic-tac-toe given they have the 'first' move. -
I'd really like to see Poison ported over to corruptors. However, before it is (if it ever is) I'd really like to see a couple of changes that would make it much more team friendly.
1) Allow Noxious Gas to be placed on teammates as well as pets.
2) Remove the interuption time and Change poison trap to either the traps Poison trap or make it a ranged attack. (It is really odd to have a position based traps power in a secondary that is all ranged debuffs.)
Thank-you d;D -
Quote:I'm too lazy to challenge his integrity. If he is willing to learn and put forth the effort to farm merits and play the market instead of kvetching, he's good in my book. d;DI would challenge the integrity of his posts in a heart beat, like how he said he placed a bunch of bids for random IO lvls several days ago , about 1 day after getting called on not having any hard evidence.
raises my eyebrows a lil' is all.

Quote:Forgotten... Hypers argument is that you CAN compete in PvP with SOs. Is it advisible? **** no.Einstein said that "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." I've PvPed with the new and old systems quite a bit. Its Insane to expect that you can compete on a sqhishy without KB protection. You just can't do it - if you would like video evidence, I'm sure I can set up a livestream of me playing (Hell, we can get people who are considered the best in the game) to prove my point. I don't think you would watch though.
Your argument shouldn't be "No you can't." Because you obviously can compete (unless the league or team leaders decide to exclude SO builds).
Your argument should be. "Yes you can compete with SOs. However, It is ******* retarded to compete in pvp with SOs because you will be farmed if you do."
the ability to compete is different from being competitive.
Anyway, stupid argument is stupid. -
Quote:I'm not sure whether or not domination rate has increased individually as this is my first dom; however on an 8 man team with two MMs my domination builds very rapidly, more so than 3 points per an attack i'd say.Prior to I15, Domination built at a rate of three points per attack. I recall the developer statement, "easier to build Domination" with the release of I15, but I haven't seen any stats on the change, or even any comments indicating that it wasn't changed or that it was only changed in teams.
So the questions are, do attacks add more Domination points now, and if so, solo, teamed or both, and how much?
Reason for inquiry: Started a new Mind/Fire dominator recently, but not at all interested in doing the Dom/Hasten juggling routine (completely burned out on that from playing an Ill/Rad). So my goal is to figure out exactly how quickly the Domination bar can be refilled after it drops. If I know that, then I can finagle my global recharge to optimize my use of Domination. For example, under the "three points per attack" system, it would take thirty attacks to get Domination up to 90%, which would require (VERY rough estimate) 45s if I estimate an average of 1.5s per attack with no pauses or interruptions. Ergo, the optimal recharge time for Domination with those numbers would be 135s, 90s duration and 45s to build it back up after it expired. If Domination builds more quickly, though, a higher global recharge total would be preferable, allowing me to utilize it sooner after it expires. If Domination built at a rate of six points, for instance, then I could expect to spend 15-30s refilling the bar after it drops, which would mean an optimal recharge time for Domination would be 105-120s.
I could simply build for as much global recharge as I cared to fit into the build, but the slots I would use to do so could be just as well spent increasing some of my other attributes, like Defense, Damage... JUMP SPEED!*gleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

Quote:Mac you "CAN" PvP with a SO'ed out build. You'll just get farmed. You should try playing a squishy in even semi-competitive PvP before you tell someone they can PvP with SOs.
(You can't. You will get called as the target, KB'd, mezzed, and spiked repeatedly because you'll lack both the necessary KB protection and hit points to be competitive. I mean, if you think that's fun, that's one thing.) -

Quote:Keep back peddling. It's adorable. XDNo - I'm just pointing out that just because Tyrant is evil,´that doesn't meant that GR is a "waste of time".
Just beacause Tyrant and his government are evil, doesn't mean they're not the only guaranteed security for humanity - the Resistance might be able to protect humanity too - but Tyrant can for sure - the existence of Praetoria and the peaceful, crime-free lives of most of its citizens is proof of that.
Tyrant has used evil methods to create a world more peaceful than Primal Earth - so through evil, has he actually done more good than the heores of Primal Earth who fight against evil?
Just because he's evil, does that mean he can't have done some good too?
When does the price of security and peace become too high, or is there no price too high for having it?
If the majority of people are safe and content, then does it really matter how the minority are dealt with to continue to keep the majority safe and content?
There's lots of room for moral grayness in GR. -
Quote:I wouldn't call you a liar. Just a misinformed hypocrite.
Interesting how you started out your presence in the thread by calling me a liar, then make a statement like that which is a clear lie by your own posts in the thread.
Or did I miss where your post actually brought something new to the thread? Cause I didn't see anything but just another troll post to throw fuel on the dieing fire.
Wow, I can't believe this thread is still going on. Welcome to the darkside humility. You'll soon learn to farm tfs and sfs in under 15-30 minutes for merits. Once you accomplish that, it's just a matter of marketeering and using the profit to outfit your character with the IOs you want.
Congratulations, you're ebil. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ujzp9ffPwPM -
Quote:If you are ever on Virtue, look me up (Green Scare). I play a Plant/Enrgy perma dom. Doms at later levels (and once you have a decent chain established.) are virtually unstoppable and really, really fun.I have a Plant/Thorn dom thats hanging around level 24 right now. My question is, Will this toon ever get to a point where I don't feel like the squishiest thing out there? I've played around on Mid's trying to find a build that would offer either defense or resistance and I can't find a thing. I have looked at getting all the recharge bonuses I can so I get close to a perma-dom toon but I better hope nothing hits me before my lockdowns take effect.
I have heard that Plant/Thorns is a late blooming build. So when does it start to bloom? I don't think I've even seen a bud yet. -
I signed up a few weeks back. Haven't read anything concerning the ruling on allowed or disallowed powers. Since I don't want to ruin a teams makeup by pulling out, I am withdrawing until there's an official ruling. No loss, I'm a newbie PvPer.
Thank You,

This is my current build.
Code:I would like to spec into Mu for the AoE damage of Ball Lightning, shield and mu pet. The only catch is I'm having trouble keeping the bonuses I have in my current build. I've been playing with mids and I can't seem to get a build where I would not be losing any of my current bonuses. Can anyone offer some advice, build, etc.. or am I better off sticking with scorpion and the build I currently have?
This build is strictly for PvE. I have no intention of PvPing with it now or ever in the near future. As you can see infamy isn't much of a problem, however I'd like to steer clear of some of the more expensive PvP IOs.
Thank you,

Quote:Sure, I have an iron I can sell you. Anything to keep my transactions off market. How can I contact you? This is a funny thread .. are there people who try and drive up prices of coarse there is .. stop pretending there isnt.. are there lazy people who r rich n bid anything to win .. yes lol
Is there a Marketeer Archytype .. No lol
There have been a couple of games that had a decent crafting aspect to it.. one ill use as an example ..
SWG had an impressive system before the nerf's.. after i saw many people leave and those people still search for that same style of play in other games ..
Even before LOTRO went live swg people flocked there asking for crafting i was amazed lol
Not that all so called marketeers here are old swg folk .. but they obvioulsy njoy selling stuff ..
Not really my cup of tea id rather play more activly and pvp ..
My point is COX isnt and never was a crafting game with a economy that merited attention from the devs. Markeeters take this way too seriously and quite simply the fact you feel hated means you might feel guilty about something. lol
I dont feel guilty about killing someone in pvp or feel hated if im ganked 20 times in an hour lol Its a damn game chill n leave the forums lol do what u want ingame ..
In theyre attempts to please the crafting/sellers who were looking for homes or to reshape a game in ways that would please them.. the devs tried to incorporate crafting and marketing into the game
Its not really a failure or success its just more of a distraction for them. They dont really care and they prove this by adding more forms of merits and rewards into a game that is slowly becoming a grandmothers quilt of various colors lol
Hence Rogue is on the horizon
Sometimes i wonder if there will me a move there and an attempt to merge this game there and try to fix this mess there lol
Yes our economy is a mess and none of the players help games reflect real life it seems hmmm interesting hahahaha
I hate u all lmao ........... Leave the forums ! its thr forums that fuel your desires for debate wich is a nice word for arguements lol go leave play the game lol have fun !!
Bye Byeeeeeeeee
Is anyone selling a piece of iron? ill pay 100,000,000 lol -
Quote:You get what you put into the game/market.Put simply, if you want to level fast, and you want to slot fast, you have to learn to market fast. Like many parts of the game, the Invention system is designed to have something for everyone. But in doing so, it will offer everything for no one. There are things that are trivially easy to get, things that take moderate effort, and things that take a lot of effort.
And if "normal" recipes really are selling for fifty million, then you should be able to sell some of the normal recipes you get as drops to buy the other normal recipes you need. There is a notion that high prices hurts "casual" players but that's not unilaterally true. It does hurt their ability to obtain the most expensive things in existence, but that's basically by design. But it also gives them an opportunity to earn massive amounts of influence with trivial effort, by simply selling what they get as drops.
There was a time when it was hard to outfit with *SOs* without twinking with a rich alt. Those days are gone: if you are a "casual player" at some point you're going to get a lucky drop - drop, singular - and your influence problems will be over: you'll be able to SO and possibly common IO yourself right to 50. Even without that one lucky drop its almost impossible to be unable to slot yourself very well past the teen levels if you simply sell your drops with about the same dedication we used to sell our DOs and SOs at stores.
The high prices do make it hard to get the best of the best stuff, true. The best of the best stuff is supposed to be hard to get, and without the markets you'd probably be lucky to see one much less slot one. But those same high prices make the issue of outfitting with reasonable enhancements vastly easier than it used to be pre-I9. In fact, the crap recipes you seem to be dismissing are offering casual players slotting opportunities previously reserved for the incredibly Hamied out.
The fact is that even for (perhaps especially for) the casual player the combined system of the Invention system and the Markets has dramatically improved the ability to purchase and slot standard enhancements, dramatically improved the ability to slot at power levels higher than standard enhancements allow, and dramatically increased the maximum slotting options available. The fact that it *also* adds even higher slotting options for players that want to apply more effort doesn't change the fact that without "making it a second job" you can do far more now with the current system than before it.
If your satisfaction is based on your ability to dictate the level of effort that the rarest and most powerful items in the game should take to acquire, your satisfaction will be elusive. If on the other hand all you require is proportionality and fairness; the game offers options commensurate with the level of effort you wish to put into it (proportionality), and the gap between the lowest and the highest options are not excessively high (fairness), then the game does a much better job of that.
The lazy gamer (those not willing to put forth the effort necessary to reach their goals) will always be dissatisfied. -
Quote:Welcome to the Darkside, Humility. Your board name is making much more sense now.Greetings all, I'm looking to farm up some merits, but don't really have the ability to run TFs (familial duties) so I was looking for some advice on the best way to get them solo. I know I can run oro arcs to get them, and was just looking for some advice on some of the more efficient arcs as far as time to reward ratios.
Currently doing this with a 27 scrapper so the higher level content would not be available to me (yet) but feel free to include it as I am steadily rising.
Much appreciated! -
