Actually by steam rolling through he mission you ARE recieving more rewards: More XP, More infamy/Influence, More salvage, A greater chance of a purple drop, More IO recipes.

The speed at which you complete a tf or SF should not be calculated into the merit reward formula.

IOW, the game keeps a log, finding that during the TF, Mr. Fantastic activated Brawl 200 times at X seconds, Havoc Punch 300 times at Y seconds, etc. Then add a set allowance for travel time between missions, clicking any glowies, leading hostages out, or other non-combat events.

Sure, there's probably lots of ways to 'game' a system like that. And it'd be a coding nightmare. But it would directly correlate the reward to the time spent actually defeating the mobs.
I don't like the idea of being penalized for being able to speed through a TF or SF.

I want them to actually calcualte some form of Risk vs Reward component into the merit system. They are always spouting this "risk vs reward" mantra and yet I never see anything that supports it.

Ah, that's right. sorry bout that, 's early. Reading comprehension failure on my part.

Respec trials bluside annoy me at the reactors because of that ridiculous time sink.

I've still been able to get through blueside respecs in 30 to 45 minutes, despite that time sink.

For many redside players it still takes 30 minutes to complete a respec trial.

Nothing wrong with the golden age settings, but I don't see how you can go around RPing with everyone else in the game (and ive seen Golden Age style heroes do such things), when most others arent RPing in that setting.

Golly gee willikers, doesn't mesh well with, @#$%%@$ I'm going to #@$%&$ you with a @#$&%* pony and @$&*@ your skull and $*#*@ kill your @$&$&3 dog.

I RP my Golden Age concept as a teenage hero of the 1930's that has just recently escaped from one of the many shard dimensions.

As for Vampires... in a game where people can pay or take drugs to acquire immortality and super-powers; becoming a vampire is dumb.

This is false. By limiting the amount of players on a team, speeding up the recharge rate on high DPS ATs, Stealth TPing and the use of ATT; you can sweep through a tf at a very fast rate and avoid most of the TFs time sink.

Unfortunately villain players tend to be smarter with the Time vs Reward ratio when running their content and we are penalized for that.

Speeders are not hurting merit rewards for Strike Forces. The merit reward formula is hurting Strike Force rewards. The merit reward formula for TF and SFs need to be reworked so it uses expected time and challenge level instead of median time.
  10. I'm looking for a build that hasenough defense and resist to be "survivable" within melee combat. I'm not looking for uber defense or resist, simply enough to where I will not be getting one shot while in melee combat. I know most of my mitigation will be using mez and knockup with this build; however, i'd appreciate any critiques on my build and suggestions how I may be able to improve it.

    Thank you,

EDIT: I sacrificed some health in order to push my Melee Defense and Ranged defense up to 24% Posted the new build below.
Again any critiques, suggestions on what I should be aiming for as far as defense and how I can improve the build would be much appreciated. I've never built for defense and resist before and this is a bit of a challenge as i'm attempting to maintain perma dom.

Just to clarify this build is strictly for PvE and farming.

I made a perma dom with perma hasten for 248mil in under 3 days redside. Yes, the rate of purchasing can be slower than blueside in order to outfit your toon. However, if you actively avoid the popularity of certain IOs you can still make fairly cheap and functional builds quickly.

Oh, I purchase items from the market as well. However, I never buy anything without breaking a 77% profit off of another item I am selling.

And if I can't make a 77% profit off the item on the market. I sell it off the market.

Yes, because directing traffic interest to the CoH main-site through twitter, facebook and other social networking websites; somehow, pushes people away from finding more information or perhaps even subscribing to the game..

There's more to the market than profiteering?

"City of heroes caters more towards the PVE crowd" is the mantra the dev team live by.

The demand for PVP is low because the PVP system is bad. All successful MMORPG's have active PVP communities regardless of niche or theme. If the PVP system was better then more people would PVP. As the PVP system is so bad, few players bother with it. This in turn puts it as low priority on the developers "to fix" scale.

Unfortunately for the devs, PVP is integral to MMORPG's. Good luck competing with Blizzard & Bioware when you have a PVP system your players don't want to use.

All of this is irrelevant anyway. The thread I linked to is about bugged powers. Powers that don't work as they should. Issue 13 was a deliberate change and sending bug reports about that is pointless. (Although I did laugh at the "my slow powers slow me more than my enemies" comment. Too true.)
It's a catch-22 the devs seem to be completely ignorant of. people are not interested in PvP because the system is bad. So why fix PvP system if people are not interested? *eye-role.*

anyway, good luck with getting devs to fix anything related to pvp.

Just keep running TFs and farm pinatas in RV more with us. ;D

I laugh all the way to the bank redside. I consider blueside market more of a profiteering joke to be honest.

Oh, neither am I. I don't divulge how much I make, I make enough and I have enough bling stashed in my base.

If the Devs are serious about the market being yet another pvp game, i'd love to see names attached to bids and selling items.

This could help those mythical "casual gamers" identify unscrupulous marketteers who may be attempting to manipulate the market to their own ends and it gives us "PvP" marketteers bragging rights.

And I'm referring to ANY actions taken on the market..whether it be short-selling, low-ball bids, flippers, etc.

With global names being attached to the bids and selling items, the marketteer no longer has the help of anonymity and if they are good, they get to brag.

Everybody with half a brain knows that's bs, and they cannot possibly be stupid enough to actually believe that. But they keep on lying.

Until they can at least be honest with the playerbase, I guarantee nothing will change. And all of you will just be wasting your time. Just like you did before, and just like others did for YEARS before you. Keep in mind...since the release of PvP in CoH, what did the YEARS of player input accomplish? That's right, I13.

The devs know PvP i13 was a mistake and they know the majority of the PvP community hate the changes that were implemented. Unfortunately for you and the rest of the majority of the PvP community, even with a vocal PvP majority being against the changes you are still a very, very, very small minority. A minority too small for the Devs to care about.
