Freedom isn't capable of keeping a healthy league going because it has more of a PvPer circle jerk than it does an actual community.

From what I hear Champion has more of a community going for it.

Really, being a ladder kid in GW I laugh every time I mention Competitive PvP in CoH.

We'd probably get new PvP hats with the donation funds.

I have to agree with MOD08 on this one. Anything pertaining to PvP is a troll. So lets keep it within the rules and end this thread.

Freedom PvP is dead. It's just fiteclubbers and us zone farmers now.

If you want competitive PvP Champion is that way. ------>
  4. Please don't turn this into another booster pack...

Doing a MoLGTF for one costume part? No. Just no. Having to pay stupid ammounts of Vanguard merits for the VG armour is bad enough.
hmm, going to disagree with Techbot here. <3 u tech!

I would <3 to be able to participate in a story arch that allowed my character to become an initiate of the Carnival of Shadows and then a full-fledged member.

If the story arch would reward my character with a badge proclaiming my character a "member of the Carnival of Shadows" and various carnival of shadow costume pieces, I would be happier than a pig in mud!

And what better reason to revamp old content than creating new content for it?

By the way...the new Posi TFs are quite popular...

If it isn't, here are some other toons I have that I could work on if you think they'd be ok in PVP:

    50s
    Martial Arts/invuln scrapper
    ice/ice blaster
    Dark/rad defender
peacebringer (most likely a terrible idea I know)
    EM/EA stalker
    necro/traps MM

    non-50s
    nrg/kin corr
    pistols/rad corr
    emp/nrg def
    elec/shield scrapper
    kin/fire scrapper
    stone/elec tank
    elec/battle axe

If these are all terrible ideas for PVP, does anyone have a suggestion other than a Psi/em blaster or a /regen scrapper?
The first question we should have asked is whether you want to fiteclub in Arena, Farm in RV or actually participate in competitive team PvP with these toons?

Pistols/rad won't work because the damage is negligible; the animations are too long and they root you. Because the Developers thought it a brilliant idea to set damage to relative casting time, Ice for Blasters has been nerfed to hell, the damage is horrible.

You could make a dark/rad defender work, but you'd be better off with a sonic/therm corr, fire/therm, rad/therm, dark/cold corr, cold/dark defender, etc.

If you don't mind hanging back on a team and playing the griefer. Rad/Sonic defender. Sonic/Rad corrs are fun and they'll be screaming like little girls on vent to kill you.

    Trust me I know. d;D

    PvP 2.0 Guide (in progress)

    1. your powers perform differently while in a pvp zone. you will be lost, clueless and pwnd for a while.

    2. there is way more Travel Suppression in pvp than in pve.

    3. Diminishing Returns has made most defense powers laughable and has killed the role of buffers. Melee toons benefit more from buffs. Mids' does not show numbers for DR.

    4. the more you heal within x amount of seconds the less effective it is because of Heal Decay.

    5. 99% of Slow powers suck because they removed -Max Run Speed.

    6. basically all toons have the same mez capabilities now.

    7. single target attacks do more damage in pvp. Some attacks are good and make sense but some suck and don't make sense as far as damage is concerned.

    8. there are less viable builds now.

    9. making a halfway decent pvp build now will require an investment of many billions and require getting accolades.

    10. you know pvp is really bad because all of the fanbois and fancatgirls who trolled upset pvpers during i13 all think pvp sucks now as well

    11. poor Castle, sorry dude. really.

    12. Posi has made promises to improve pvp since issue 13 but has not followed through so it looks like the dev team does not care or are not capable.

    13. no mez protection only mez resistance.

    14. there is more info but i'll work on it when i have time.

    15. when sunstorm was a red name he/she said that they changed pvp because new people could not win at pvp and they wanted new people to get kills so they could get the low drop rate and expensive to buy DRed pvp ios.

    16. more to come.
    17. Developers and moderators that support the pvp community are fired.

    No.

many of us plan to leave the moment another MMO with a decent pvp system comes around. CoH developers have already made it perfectly clear that there is not enough incentive to take another look at pvp; despite promising the community to do just that.

    It's time to move on.

Yes, I realize if the devs were JUST to remove DR it would screw up shield scaling of the inherent and patron pool shields among other things. But the current implementation of DR is utter crap.

I'd like to get my mezs back, I'd like them to bring back the speed cap and allow slows to slow, debuffs to debuff and ATs like trollers to once again have a purpose other than a buff bot in arena matches.

Like I said, won't happen; because the pvp community hurt a devs feelings.

    I'm venting... mornin'

Remove DR, Remove TS, remove HD; keep shields to where they currently are. Roll back to when Blasters actually dished out a significant amount of damage yet were called "Glass Canons" for a reason. Rework mez.

None of this will ever happen. It's best to move on if you seriously want a game where the developers care about the pvp community.

If you are in the zones simply to farm playable characters for PvPIOs to IO out your PvE build; Farm Zones are the best way to go about earning PvPIOs outside of sitting in arena double logged and AFK farming for several hours.

Competitive PvP and KB matches are the worst way to try and earn PvPIOs.

If you are in Zones to PvP... You are doing it wrong.

Also, if you are looking to PvP competitively freedom isn't the place to do that. Freedom has taken Justices place as the fiteclub server.

You know if you combined Champions league and Freedoms league onto Test Server..you guys might actually have something resembling competitive PvP.

1 Piece of Glad Jav set = 25-30 Hero Merits
    1 Full set = 165 Merits
    5 Pieces of Apoc = 100 Merits

Say you are looking at a Psi/EM 3 sets of glad javs + 1 set of apocs.

(3 x 165) + 100 = 595 hero merits to have your standard range offensive toon slotted out for PvP.

To be able to do that you'd also need 11.9 Billion influence (if you are converting normal merits) and run the Synapse TF around 600 times. Or you would need to do 6,545 tip missions.

You would need to do the Synapse TF every day for over a year and a half. (Synapse TF is 15 missions long though some are deliveries. Either way adds up to 9,000 missions)

You can only get 5 tips per day, taking you 2 days to earn a hero merit that way. Off tips alone you would need to do 5 missions 1 day, 6 the next and after 3 and a quarter years you'd have your blaster's main attacks PvPIO/Purpled out.

    Awesome.

How much collaboration with Arcanaville did it take to arrive at these statistical values and may I see your tables and algorithmic formula?
