The only reason it worked in the Freedom League was because the core team was comprised of selected players who willingly joined, friends, etc. The D6 was drafted because they were either new to PvP or missed the induction.
Basically.. It's not fun to play on a team of random people for most. That's the only draw to this game for most of us: playing with our friends.
A follow-up draft, like what was used on Freedom, is a fine idea for getting players onto teams who'd otherwise be less likely to try to figure that out, but the core team should be allowed to be picked for said reasons.

There are still players not participating for reasons above-mentioned, still, others who don't feel like paying to X-fer characters to Champion.
I mean.. cute response, Test would still be a better option.
If the ladder's main reason for crumbling on test was due to the inconsistent copy tool then I can't see how any one could possibly still think that is the best option for organized pvp. Not like that was the first time a ladder crumbled on test due to the pvp community not having access to it when needed.
You could have moved toons last free server x-fers when the first league was starting up, but you didn't because you didn't think kat's league would work out.
And test is not a better option at the moment, mostly because the number of participants wouldn't actually go up, and we wouldn't be getting many (If any) new players involved. And like kat said, the copy tool could go down at any time, or they could put a new beta *couch* i19/i20 *cough* on it at any time.

As far as the Test ladder crumbling due to a copy tool being broken for a while; Lol.... No, it was dead anyway. No one was doing anything except SoCo and dUmb. Opus sort of pretended for a bit, but when they realized they weren't going to be on the top, they folded. Anyway... Yeah.

I have to say I am pleasently suprized with Champion. I have been enjoying my time there both PvE and PvP wise. Also everyone has been nice and welcoming. In all fairness though i already knew they had an active arena community thanks to OZ. It is by no means a dead server. I am glad I saw CK's post in time to use the free transfer to throw a toon there, and I think I might try to work on another for the 2 leagues.

I managed to transfer a few toons over on the last round of free transfers (to Champ). I think for now having it on the home server of a lot of the people would be a good start. Hopefully get a few rounds in with all the teams playing each other and see if there is any kind of desire to move it to test to incorporate more people into it.
(Personally I'd be all for test but I can see why some, especially the home server crowd might want to stay in familiar waters for now)
