That is a truly horrible idea. The Devs already regretted making EATs unlock at 50 (and have since changed it) because too few people were able to play them, so their development time was basically squandered. I don't think giving a new AT to ONLY the people that have played for (what will be) more than 8 years is a wise decision.

And as for backpacks? I don't think those should be a Vet Reward. I think they should be freely available to everyone... yesterday.

/Edit: Oddd, I agree with Sharker on something. /

True about Power. Wasn't Brewha and City_Life the same person??

The difference is in the NUMBER of them that were available to any one player. You would have had to pre-order at 4 different stores to get all of the Helms, so they included them as a reward so that the average sane player could get the other 3 he may be missing. I believe the Sprints were a similar case (not sure on that one).

As for the cape, it was available through the purchase of a single product, and so is still linked to that product. Also, you can no longer pre-order a game that has been released for years... but you can still (somewhere) find copies of the other products.

I am not saying I disagree with ya necessarily, but there IS a sort of logic to it.

    Nope.

Each account earns Vet Status seperately.
  5. There was an event/anniversary lead by a group called DATA on Infinity, and an entire SG mobilized to grief that event. I have not and will not associate with that other SG. Period. (No, I will not name the offending group.)

Beyond things like that? I tend not to let individuals spoil my opinion of an SG. And I lead my own SG on Infinity and Justice that are quite discerning when it comes to membership. It is primarily a place to house all of mine and my BF's alts (with a few in-game friends as well). That tends to keep any invite related issues at bay.

I... I don't know if I have any idea what that says or not. Are you saying that after looking at some of ZX's work you think that HE inspired the design for the Mutant Pack?

First thing to know is that Buffing/Debuffing is a million times more effective in this game than a "Healer." In fact, "healer" is something of a four letter word to people who regularly play Defenders.

On topic, I would agree with the Dark/Dark Def idea suggested above. Also, a powerful alternative may be to go with a Controller that has some sort of Buff/Debuff secondary. In that case, you can't go wrong with an Ill/Rad.

You spoke directly about what a mob can supposedly do in Praetoria... I would say that if that were supposition, it should have been phrased as such and far less (for lack of a better word) authoritatively.

Either way, it is pro'ly best that you edited it. After all, I only mentioned it to keep you from getting in any kind of trouble.

While I certainly agree... it is also a bit amusing at times just how much reverence people pay her. She has kinda become, at this point, some sort of infallible gospel. That isn't meant to be a knock to Arcana because, frankly, she is pretty much ALWAYS right. In fact, I almost left off the qualifier there... but I feared that if I had, she would reply with a specific example of a time she was wrong!
  9. You do realize you broke the NDA on the last page, right 5th?

I find that playing a set for the first time can help a lot when it comes to a build. I play through a good way on a new character, figure out what I like and don't like powerwise and whether or not I actually like the character at all before I sit down and try to decide what powers/enhancements I want/need to do what I want to do.

Oh, that brings up another point: a good build for a given player depends a lot on what that player wants to do with the character. Is he going to PvP? Only do PvE? Lots of Task Forces, Strike Forces and Trials? RP? A little of everything? All kinds of things impact what you want to do with your build.

That's all well and good... but a sword is not an axe. An axe is intended for a given purpose, and so is a sword. It makes no sense to me to use a sword to do an axe's job.

Let us pretend that you have a magical mace. It is enchanted so that it causes slashing wounds when it impacts a person. If you were to create that character in CoH, it would have to be either a mace weilder (and do smashing damage) or a sword weilder (and have the wrong weapon). That's how it works. If you allow a maces to work like a sword, then you would have to change the damage type too. And the Devs have made it quite clear that a given weapon set will NOT change damage types based on appearance (hence no flaming swords).

I guess what bothers me most about this whole thing is the insistance that the Devs should make EVERY idea a player has a feasible one within the cofines of the game. To me, it is far more fun, and imaginitive, to work with the limited options that we have, and to make them work in the best ways one can. If you create some ridiculous concept like a bunny wielding panther and then get mad because you can't make it in the game... well, the problem does NOT lie with the Devs.
  15. Honestly, if you have only been playing the game for a week or so, then I think your best bet is to simply play and experiment. Have as much fun as you can and learn by doing. Then, when you feel like you have all the basics down, and feel committed to a given powerset combination, take a gander through the forums. I mean, there really is NO reason at all to worry about your "build" until you feel you have the game itself all figured out. At least I don't think so.

Wrong. Weapons do certain things. Period. Just because we have superpowers in the CoH/V/GR Universe does NOT mean that the purpose of an item changes.

Indeed, I feel sorry for him already.
  18. Just ignore that post above this one. I made the sig/avatar for my younger brother who also plays, and figured our own personal thread would be a safe place to post it so he could take a look at it.

Nothing to see here, move along.
  19. I was fairly certain that there was a comment made to the effect that the plan was to make as many people happy as possible. Beyond that, I can't really see how they would let Villains be in SGs and vice-versa. BUT, I don't see a problem with Rogues/Vigilantes being included in VGs/SGs (respectively).
  20. And then there is always the possibility that we could make an AE arc that goes with our actual storyline. Though I am unsure what the focus of that might be.

  24. Thanks all for the help. I haven't had a chance to sit at my comp. too long, so I didn't post the popmenu code I am using. Honestly, its not too big a deal to have it work as it is, I was just hoping someone knew how to make it better.
