Put me down to be a fan of the old boards. Particularly who is replying to who in a thread (because I usually browse without logging in), and the Sticky Post icons (which makes it easier to pass over those, instead of having to scan all the subject titles). That's just my personal opinion. The rest I'll probably get used to easy enough, but it's just those two things that bugged me about other boards and I used to enjoyed having here. I'm weird, I know.

Because the test server could not likely handle the load of the initial swarm of people coming to take a peek
[/ QUOTE ]
It's funny, because that's what happens every single time a new Issue goes to test. You'd think they'd beef up the Training Room server in anticipation by now. Or open up a Training Room 2 to help offset the load or something when testing a new Issue. -
Dang, and I like some of the CoV stories too, there just aren't enough of em. Now you're leaving... I always liked you.
Heh, I remember after Mako's introduction, he posted his Battlefield 2 handle. I checked out his stats. They were pretty noobtastic.
After seeing the work you'd been a part of in CoV, it became obvious you spent more time focusing on designing games than playing them, hehe. Were pretty active on the forums then, too. I liked that.
Sad to see another one go. Good luck on your future projects. -

I'm interested to know what can be done about our KB protection though as you mention it. If that is fixed, many can skip leaping if they do use Burn 'as it's intended'.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know what, I'll bet they put that Knockback protection into Burn, with the Immob protection. That'd make me laugh. I'd also probably delete my Fire/Fire Tanker after that. -

[ QUOTE ]
Meh. My TANKER didn't get Unbreakable over the course of going from level 1-50, only after several more months of regular Hamidon raids and helping others level. This Accolade still won't be useable over the course of a normal toon's leveling, it'll likely be attained after 50.
It's nice that I can actually GET it now, but it's still too high.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed.
Tankers are getting this badge in CoH post-50. Including ones who took 1-2 hours of pounding from Hamidon every night for about four months.
It means that people will do unfun and boring things to get it. The kind of behavior they discourage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. My Controller, my first 50 dinged the very day i3 hit test, in 970 hours of play is still only half way to the 10 million damage badge. I don't think that my 40 MM will be any different.
[ QUOTE ]
Oh, trust me, I'm not worried about being able to get it. My complaint is that I have to resort to meta-game boring mindless BS I can literally be AFK for.
There shouldn't be things like that which provide reward.

I'm not Villain Enough.
[/ QUOTE ]
Me neither. With that said, I'm happy to see the folks who DO grind their arses off on test for our benefit, have the opportunity to get something in return. They deserve it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm glad the players are grinding it out for our benefit, because it's obvious the Devs won't (no level bump, and the RV event is only to 40...). It's like they don't want the PPPs heavily tested at all. It doesn't make any sense. -

Can't really say what hasn't already been said. More heroes than villains in RV, but then, what else to heroes have to test? I'd wager a guess that ALOT of the villains are instead messing with Patron Power arcs and Mayhem Missions. I'm sure when more and more villains eventually hit 50 this will even out quite a bit. At least, I hope so.
[/ QUOTE ]
The only the the Heroes are testing is their mad base camping skillz. I have not once seen the 'Freedom Phalanx Reinforcements' gold letters show up.
[/ QUOTE ]
True enough, yeah. I was onthe Scrapper I noted above, Dollie Llama (get it?) the Claws/Invuln panda, and I was attempting to help the villains with the turrets on a couple of pillboxes, but 2 times that I counted I was instead attacked, even after I stated my intentions. Dunno why, stereotyping I guess? Other times, if I would announce I was clearing turrets at pillboxes for villains, some heroes would show up and capture the pillbox...
Can't really defend the actions of the other heroes in the zone, but don't lump us all together into the base-camping-ganker group. -

Back on the top of the zone itself; those signature villains pack one mean punch! Ghost Widow 1 shot held my 47 Claws/Invuln Scrapper through Unstoppable AND Unyeilding. Soul Storm, owie. I tried first without Unstoppable, but everything else from Invuln and was 1 shotted from that(Was DoT, but still, only that 1 attack I think). Also, I think I'd rather have Capt. Mako's Claws for my Scrapper panda instead of the ginormous ones currently. Doesn't work out so well being a panda. o.O Saw Lord Recluse too, he did something I'll have to watch more closely for next time, he kinda disappeared and when he did my panda had like 1% HP and End, I thought Unstoppable dropped for a second but it was actually still on. Though Black Scorpion was in the area as well, might've been him. -

Second, are these the "hard numbers" we are supposed to have before selecting the power choices? I'd really like to know what the resist % is on the armor before deciding if its even worth wasting the endurance on having it.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFE.
What's the % resist on Charged Armor? How much end does Power Sink drain, and how much is restored? What's the mag and duration of Electric Shackles?
The fact that these are permanent additions to a character can not be over emphasized. The Test Server is a useful tool, but I shouldn't HAVE to copy my toons over to test and play through 100 hours of content to make sure I'm getting a power worth keeping.
-Dr. Rob
[/ QUOTE ]
Once again, QFE. I can't stress enough how much these numbers are needed. No Resist, Defense, End drain, Mag or Duration numbers are given. Why hold back? I don't understand... -

I'm not a big PvP'er, but hearing that prompted me to go back and check different patch notes dating back to the advent of the Arena, and sure enough, in PvP, certain powers were given the ability to drop toggles.
Before you go saying, OMGBBQ!!!!11!1!1!!!!1!1, read back to the old patch notes. It just makes sense in PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
You do know that, in Issue 4, Tanks were walking gods? Toggle dropping was needed then because most were walking around with almost capped (That's right, 90%) resists to everything.
[ QUOTE ]
Brawl was given the ability to drop toggles too. In Bloody Bay I fought (along with a bunch of other villains) an Invuln/SS tank who literally strolled into the Villain base as if he were all alone. After a while of pounding on him with no significant effect, someone broadcast, "Brawl him you fools!!!" We did, and low and behold, Invincibility dropped seconds later. Then we pasted him.
[/ QUOTE ]
That sounds like inspirations doing the magic there.
[ QUOTE ]
Some Stalker powers have a chance to drop toggles, BTW. Its not guranteed to happen with every attack from every powerset.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, Assassin Strikes drop 2 toggles every time, EVERY TIME. For an Invuln, who has 3 defensive toggles, it's harmful, but for a Fire Tank running like 6 or more, it's not so bad unless it happens to be one of your mez protection toggles. And especially for an attack that can whipe, literally, half of a Tank's or Scrapper's HP, or more, in ONE SHOT with the toggles up, really shouldn't drop any toggles at all.
I also said, that toggle dropping should go because of Issue 5's global defense nerfs and Issue 6's Enhancement Diversification which slammed the defensive sets even worse. So looking back at Issue 4, where it really was a different game, is mostly irrelevant. -

what is the point in having unyielding, which supposedly prevents toggle drops, and then having a stalker come up and each time he hits dropping all of my toggles....that means that unyielding is useless. i wouldnt mind if they dropped my health and killed me that way but dropping my toggles is somthing that should not happen. unyielding doesnt work at all vs stalkers
[/ QUOTE ]
Unyielding does not protect from Toggle Drops.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think he just said that wrong (or didn't know quite what he was saying :P). One of the main reasons to take UY (and the other mez-protection powers) is to avoid enemies dropping your toggles in PvE. My Inv tank wouldn't really be bothered about being mezzed once in a while, if it didn't sut off his toggles. Getting the mez-protection toggles is like "Yes! Finally my toggles will stay up!".
The whole toggle-dropping mechaninc negates this and reduces us to pre-mez-protection levels of power. If you want to kill me, kill my by overcoming my powers. Not by randomly shutting them off.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bam! Exactly! It's been said many times before, in different ways and forums, but it's because it's true. With i5, and ESPECIALLY ED, Toggle-dropping is an outdated and harmful mechanic for Tanks, Scrappers, Brutes and, to a degree, Stalkers. -
[ QUOTE ]
The "do away with toggle dropping" thing is just the fad of the day. There's a new one every week.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fad... heh. Toggle Dropping is the single biggest reason I (and I'd wager a guess at a whole lot of others as well) have stayed away from the Arena and the PvP zones since they were released. Well, that and Inspirations.
I love PvP, I play alot of FPS games. But until these 2 things happen, toggle dropping is either eliminated or reduced GREATLY, and Inspirations are eliminated or you're only allowed to use a max of 8 slots or something like that, I will hate PvP in THIS game.
My opinions. -

WoW has shown that an MMO *can* get a userbase in the millions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just want to pop in and say that it was actually Lineage that proved it, which is produced by NCSoft. www.mmogchart.com shows it pretty clearly that 2 NCSoft games(Lineage and Lineage 2) had a userbase of over a million before WoW was even on the market. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'll pop in here so you guys have a new target.
The original Task Force Datamine took 3 months to finish. That was to go over 2 months worth of data.
We now have 18 months worth of data. We looked for a more effecient solution, but our estimates still come out at 2 years to datamine and get you your badges.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the info, although I'm still not happy about this.
BUT, we should be allowed to /petition for these badges, assuming that we have sufficient proof, that we can send in via e-mail (ie. Screenshots), of completion. -
[ QUOTE ]
Also - after much pushing and shoving - we were told that there will NOT be data mining for TF badges. So if you did a TF before I5 - when I5 goes live you will not get a badge for it auto-magically.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can only quote another poster who said it already...
[ QUOTE ]
Why? I want a reason.

Exactly.
I won't pretend that I speak for anyone other than myself, but I can say, with some certainty, that "we" would like to know why. WHY?! For the love of... -

If I read correctly, and it was a while ago so I might possibly be wrong, but with Guild Wars, you'll have to pay for the Content Updates (our 'Issues'). -

Why change Energy Absorbtion?

i was wondering this as well, and since it does have a cap now, what is the cap?
and will multiple EA's stack?
and is that capped as well?
