this is obviously a concept build first, and we (dirty powergamers) have to respect that as a valid, base framework.

I'll bite. He shouldn't proffer this us as a GUIDE then, he should state that it's his personal build and leave it at that. Guides are what the name says, a showing of others or helping others how to play a particular AT/powerset. This just shows people how to be an [censored] xp leech. -
There are much better guides out there. This is your way to hypothectically build an nrg/nrg, and I dare say it should stay that way.
-
well, not really in protest, but to make room for something worth playing perhaps?
-
I'd just delete all my /device blasters in protest, this is [censored].
-
this could be better titled:
A Defenders Ideas on How to Play a Blaster
It's also been posted before by Def's in the Blaster forums -
Finally wrote and posted my Fire/Nrg guide for Issue 7. Please glean and add to the first post, kthnxbuhbye.

like this, I'm linking in my guide.

Unlike Rise of the Phoenix it does not affect its target(s) in any way

I beg to differ. The last time I used the power, it did damage to everything around me. The very description says: "...can drain the life force of all foes around you..."
Damage: Moderate
Recharge: Very Long
The power can be slotted for damage too.
[/ QUOTE ]
RotP has a disorient feature to it, which is quite clearly what was meant in that statment you partially quoted. Damage != Effect in this case, as the full statment was explaining why a WS was more in trouble using that power in comparison.
they're pissed off at you for hitting them, and they're not wobbling around like they are when RotP'd. -
test patterns totally pwn

my style is very in your face as well, but built differently. I subbed in Blazing Bolt instead of Hasten and it's a welcome add to the arsenal. If I can dig mine up perhaps that might help.

I reupped my account for ZIS!

I, Faou MK II, love my SUPERGROUP because....
It's filled with great people that make me wanna stick around for the community of THEM, not the game.
They're the Seinfeld of SG's.
No matter what they go through, they stand in the face of it and weather it well.
We've got freakin' CUPPAJO as a member.
They make Blasters feel like heroes too.
oh, and because Paragon City > Farglefantasyhobbitland -
[ QUOTE ]
That's actually hitting what's bugging me squarely on the head. I couldn't quite put it, but I think I can now. It's responsibility. We all know that having a responsibility is not a cool thing. We are given responsibilities when we go to work or school or university, and those responsibilities make us tired. We sometimes choose to take on responsibilities, because we respect or like or love the people who we become responsible for. That tires us, but the result is worth it.
I believe that if prestige becomes what keeps a SG inside their base, then a responsibility will be lumped on all our shoulders - to play and pay the rent. Sure, a base isn't a vital necessity. Sure, our SG might not actively enforce it. But it's an unspoken responsibility nonetheless. When your whole SG pulls together to pay the rent, will you feel well to be slacking or offline or playing an alt? When your SG-mates look at you like you're a lazy man, they don't need to say it. It's s obvious by their attitude. When you're put in a position of having to do something for the common good, can you lighteartedly say that it really doesn't matter?
An unspoken responsibility weighs heavier than any decided or forced one. It is not a responsibility you chose to take, or were forced to take, it's a responsibility you feel you have. And that is tiring. Very, very tiring. And I don't mean being sleepy or beat, I mean mentally tired, when you don't want to do anything but sit and look at one point in space.
This is a game. We shouldn't be given constantly-looming responsibilities. This goes beyond the passive "not fun" and goes into the aggressive "stressing out".
I could be wrong, I hope I'm wrong, but it does not seem so.
[/ QUOTE ]
you posting this, brought THIS instantly to mind. Yep, I am so looking forward to that situation. -

As to my comment that is so insulting, it wasn't me who said it originally. It is what is said almost everytime a dev speaks nowadays because...it actually is. I mean, just when you think they've mined the farthest depths of ignorance, they find another vein. All I've done is make the observation that it's a widespread comment, expectation, and undeniable truth.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, Puh-LEEZ! So if I kick your dog, and you say "don't kick my dog!" I can say "Well, THAT guy kicked your dog, so I figured it was OK." And that makes it so?
You shoot your mouth off, and then hide behind the spectre of "someone" you're quoting? Again I say, Puh-LEEZ. If I were a dev making this decision, and had only your comments by which to judge the validity of the decision, the LAST thing I would want to do is appease you given that attitude. Actually, I'd say "all players have to dress as Heidi to get a base."
Oh, and here's another that's been said before: "I had no idea how much fun I wasn't having 'til I read the forums".
[/ QUOTE ]
I love you, but you're an egotist. At least Erratic has style.
Now THAT is shooting my mouth off*blowkiss*

[ QUOTE ]
You have 5 SGs worth of alts and characters that are regularly played. You'll be getting 5 various bases. A full 75 main SG is as big as they can get. You'll be at the top end of what a SG can get in Bases by design. You don't know what that top end is but you already want more than that.
[/ QUOTE ]
no, i want ONE base, for us all to share. however how will this smattering around of players in different SG's reflect on a purchase of a base? Influence is an already established currency. saying it isn't because it's not called dollars/credits/gold/chocolate is ridiculous. Up n Away Burger wouldnt' take it as payment if it wasn't.
[ QUOTE ]
Your argument about influence is confusing. On the one hand you complain that influence is useless now and then on the other hand you complain that this will mean raising the price of enhancements. Influence is not part of an economy. It IS useless after a certain level. How is that a bad thing? Are you asking them to put in some hamfisted method of forcing us to spend Influence and farm it? There is no reason to believe that they are going to increase the cost of enhancements. This is wild speculation used to fuel doom-mongers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Statesman has posted that enhancements costs were originally set to low and would be raised. There is no other way to drain this one form of currency from the game economy. There is nothing to buy from either raids or stores after a certain level. This begs the question, why even have influence in the first place? Is it to punish lower level players? Statesman has already expressed a desire to make things cost more, and drain currency; SG bases would being purchased with influence would allow for that. I'd use Search for you to help you find the post, but you're an adult and its 11.50pm for me right now.
[ QUOTE ]
You say they are hamfistedly trying to encourage you to do something that you don't want to. If they said SG colours gave you 10% bonus xp or damage, you'd be in SG colours in a shot.
[/ QUOTE ]
Two words,[censored]. That's not hamfisted, that's a reward well worth it.
[ QUOTE ]
People are whining that they have to wear SG colours now and don't get more uber because of it.
This approach gives us a great option: We either look cool and play the non-conformist rogue or we look less cool and help our team get its base. Its a roleplaying/fluff solution and that's commendable. We have enough powergaming/farming solutions to problems.
There ought to be an incentive to wear those less cool SG uniforms and it should be one that is all about fluff and SG bases are, IMO, all about fluff.
[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree, we need more powergaming. This game is too much about fluff. -

[ QUOTE ]
Every time a dev speaks, it is the stupidest thing I ever hear....until they speak again.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know, I don't like the idea of the uniform requirement either... But when I read this kinda garbage, I just want to say "Please, stay off my side."
There are ways to debate this reasonably without insufferable, mindless insults.
[/ QUOTE ]
This isn't a uniform requirement, although...that's how it's percieved. This is substituting a working system for another because noone uses it. Ask yourself WHY noone uses it.
As to my comment that is so insulting, it wasn't me who said it originally. It is what is said almost everytime a dev speaks nowadays because...it actually is. Just because you're in SG mode doesn't mean you automatically get Prestige. You still have to do things.
[/ QUOTE ]
If this is a confirmation that you must be in SG Mode to earn prestige, let me add my voice to those saying "That sucks"
[/ QUOTE ]
So I try desperately to drown you out saying 'That's great!'
....as long as there is no datamining and no mass grandfathering of prestige.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't consider it great. Why?
There is a 75 character limit in a SG. That means there is:
Legion of Freedom (limit one player, for mains)
The Legion of Freedom (limit one player, for mains, overflow)
Legion of Freedom - HotC (for 50's)
Legion of Freedom - Reserves (alts)
Legion of Freedom - SpecOps (themed)
You'll notice that the first 3 are for current mains. Until they increase the amount of toons you can have in a single SG, then this system that is being talked of sucks hairy monkey nuts. All members should have access to SG items that are being purchased in the game, SG bases not being a currency sink means that enhancements will rise to compensate (hurting the newer players), and my personal favorite...it's another in a long line of ham fisted attempts to encourage players to do something they don't want to; whether that be because it's unfun, or just a stupid schtick. The developers can't seem to make SG mode remotely appealing by any other means, and while it may seem novel at first, the wider vision of this craptastic idea isn't hard to grasp.
Saints preserve us when they find some way to make us use the arenas. -

and I thought Statesman was the only person that didn't think before he posted.... guess I was wrong.
This little rumour (now proved to be more than such) was posted on our SG forums today, I popped on in and I must say, I've been proven right. Every time a dev speaks, it is the stupidest thing I ever hear....until they speak again. -
There will be many people that tell you how to be a hero. Listen and absorb, but come to your OWN conclusion on how to proceed.
A good 3B is a master of tactics because of necessity through trial and error. You can be told how to do something but won't truly know until you do.
Range is not a defense.
Melee is not instant death.
You must learn to hover before you can fly. -

Couple of changes we're making in I5:
1) Instead of the first five levels being debt free, the first TEN levels will be debt free.
2) XP debt will be halved on mission maps (that includes outdoor mission maps, too).
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't really see how this was a problem for people. debt erased so fast in the first ten levels, it was a non issue to me and most others i talked with. xp debt being halved on missions only....[censored]? I just have one question...
WHY?
a really useless change, unneeded dev time on it, etc. I don't really see the point to any of it. -

you only get otter pops if you are within 300' of the killed otter and did damage to it, but not if you are standing at the PI tram and sending hate tells for sidekicking. -

[ QUOTE ]
Based on data from the Training Room and feedback on the forums, we will be making the following changes to how XP, Influence and other drops are divided:
If a player is in a zone, did NO damage in a combat and has dead for more than a minute, he receives no XP. If a player is more than 300 ft. away (an increase of 100 ft.) from the mob when its defeated and did NO damage, he receives no XP. Otherwise, the player receives his full share of XP.
If players are on a mission map, they always receive their full shares. Theres no distance limitation. Teams can split up in maps players can be separated by elevators everyone receives their XP.
This system does not affect Mission rewards.
Well be putting the distance and mission map changes up on the Training Room soon (week or so) to see how it plays out.
Now, let me clarify the situation with Badges and Defeat tasks. As long as you or any of your teammates are within 200 ft. of the defeated mob, EVERYONE on the team gets credit. This is not a change in Issue 4; this is the way that it currently works.
[/ QUOTE ]
after reading the stipulations and pacing the wording more carefully then Bill Clinton in regards to a certain Ms. Lewinsky...I think these changes are livable. there is alot of "and this and that"...almost 2-3 qualifiers to not granting xp, although i think that 100 yards is ridiculously short. maybe 300 yards not feet. Unless this is to nerf travel powers too? =p
