And in the last major site update of the year, the UD Armour section is up and Darkbow Chapter 6 - Hunting - is available now. The major 54 page finale to conclude Darkbow.
-
It is a Merry Christmas for Darkbow Chapter 6 - Hunting - is available to download now. This is the finale to wrapup all the arcs within and tease of the things to come.
The UD's favourite traitor has time catch him up, a chunk of Paragon City gets smashed up, and the founding mother of Ultimate Darkness pursues her interest... -
Darkbow Chapter 6 - Hunting - Coming Soon to conclude the Darkbow series.
-
Well the season to be unholy is here so heres some updates:
Our esteemed colleague Queen of Thorns has rearranged the Christmas costume competition. The date is now 100% set on Friday 04/01/2008. Meet in the UD base at 7:30PM GMT, to talk about what presents we got, how the new year was celebrated and other stuff. The competition itself starts at 8PM GMT, so that gives people half an hour to show up, if they want to compete...
Basically it's a costume contest, for members of Ultimate Darkness and Science Fiction, but with a little twist; your costume have to be inspired by the season!
Darkbow Chapter 5 : Deconstruction is available for download. This is the issue to setup the finales to follow!
More details on our own site. No doubt there will be more festive violence to come so heads up before I chuck my snowballs at ya! -
New download location : http://www.udsg.co.uk/UD1/UDC_Comics.html
Well the very long delayed release of Darkbow Chapter 5 : Deconstruction has finally arrived.
It would've been up a fair bit faster had I not had issues breaking the UD site backup and rebuilding the whole site lol
Coming very soon is the finale of Darkbow which will be a much longer issue (approx 50 pages) not to mention a special Xmas comic and the new arc I'm beginning in the new year.
Enjoy! -

Aim is the certainly the jewel in the crown of /Thorns

Listen to the heroes cry out "Save me Jebus!" -
Instead of upping its dmg, add some damage procs to it - like Pacing of Turtle Chance for Smashing (slow set) or Touch of Lady Grey Chance for Negative (def debuff set) - each one would tick every 10 secs per target so you could get far better bursts of dmg per target along with the DoT.
-
For a PvE design that seems pretty solid all round and seems to have a lot of interesting power choices.
I personally wouldn't go for teleport as fire primary is rather end heavy and you may burn out to easily. Plus if you are going down the stealth route, SS would probably do you far better. Particularly if you want team teleport later on.
I'd also recommend getting Stamina at 24 and grant invis at 28, with invis at 30.
Only other thing I'd say is that incinerate is not hugely essential - on my mind/fire dom I respecced it out when I found I could kill EBs without it.
All of the above aside, you could easily team with this design, but you may struggle to solo on anything higher than Malicious. Plus I like the unorthodox design you have here. If ya want any more info PM me or lookup ingame @Starscreamer -
Those people don't know what they are talking about lol
My dom is now lvl 50 and does an unreal amount of dmg all round - and he does NOT have aim! I think most people take too many of the thorns powers and screwup the slotting. On Starscreamer the only thorns powers he has are:
Thorny Darts (3 slots - none of which are dmg lol)
Skewer (5 slots)
Fling Thorns (4 slots)
Impale (5 slots)
Ripper (6 slots)
Thorn Barrage (6 slots)
For reference I took maneuvers/tactics to give some balanced (if minor) def and to have a perma tohit buff rather than aim. Yes, later on much has resistance to lethal, but yet less has resistant to Toxic so teh DoT can be such a difference maker. The key to kicking [censored] big time is to not skimp on the slotting of your controls as with people pinned down you can tear em apart and stack all that -def and DoT and let the orange numbers just rain down.
Only thing I would say is avoid the pbaoe attack like the plague as it roots you for way too long with too [censored] an acc and range. Better off with fling thorns tbh. Plus as you are fire, you already do bags of DoT so can really be a cruel dom all round
If ya want more info then chuck me a PM or look me up in game. EDIT: Although bare in mind my glorious dominator perfection is gravity/thorns so may vary a bit according to ya primaries and pools -
This is just some news for all the lovely peeps out there.
www.udsg.co.uk is now completely rebuilt and back online! As I recently made a small screw up when upgrading my development system to OSX Leopard, I deleted the source files for our site(smooth or what)
So during my recreation from my secondary backup, I completely remade and redeployed the whole site! So enjoy it and thanks for the patience.
And just an FYI, Darkbow Chapter 5 is half finished -
Just for reference - thanks for the feedback peeps
I forgot to mention that this char was solely created as me and my mates in UD had the idea to make a special i11 all weapons team. So far we're about 4 AR corrs and a sonic/traps corr. I myself am making the teams crowd control and terror trooper (he is Blackout afterall lol) hence why the powers I chose are what they are semi-concept, semi-powerful build. I'll post an update of it later.
But I think i may have another rethink after properly looking into any new IOs and the new mad plans I have from nearly 100% finished energy/rad corr -
I am a villain and have never, ever, EVER had a stalker that can get to pvp. I myself feel that stalkers are fine as they are when fighting my corrs and doms. The single best advice I can give would be to try doing some arena stuff in Pocket D to learn how to fight stalkers. It sounds to me that the key issues here is that you are focusing continually on their strengths and not trying to exploit the key weaknesses of stalkers. Like the fact if they miss AS they are generally boned!
I suggest you read the info on this games pvp and you'll realise that actually the things that need nerfing are heroes not villains as pvp is slightly stacked in their favour, both numerically and build wise. There will always be ATs you have trouble with - one of my corrs has some issues vs tankers but eats blasters and defenders, my dom eats scrappers and trollers, but has issues with tankers and another of my corrs has issues with trollers but can eat most other things. My 3 chars that I pvp with are NOT stalkers, and I myself have fought tons of stalkers in the arena and have learnt that you need to really try different approaches, but when you do you can literally split them apart. Dont believe me, goto SC and you'll see.
And lastly, I would just like to quote your sig angelsabre:
'PVP is just PVE with different reactions...and a person sat on the otherside of the losing charecter to log onto the forums and yell NERF!!!!'
Do you not see the irony of this? -
Yeah - but I can happily solo EBs without it
The attack chain I have now is so fast with hasten I really don't need incinerate now. Getting the snipe at 35 now to allow serious single target damage. My attack chain is flares, fire blast, fire breath, mesmerize (slotted as an attack more than a control) and with hasten, fiery embrace and domi I can rinse and repeat at leisure. Blaze and the snipe will give me the long range blasting I need more I think. Everytime I used the melee it either missed or nearly got me killed. Also have a gander at my funny plan for that lame flares
The build I'm going for now looks something like this:

Have you petitioned it Paj? I had an issue where my Time and Space Manipulation +stealth wasn't firing in Wormhole. 2 Bug Reports later - it started working ^^ I'd say it should be petitioned and then it can be checked and made to work
-
Thats all "chance for" procs. Yeah the dmg is meagre tbh - maybe have 1 of the recharges from Trap of Hunter and Posi Blast to get some buffs and get the recharge ya want.
I dont think the "vines" it leaves affect the procs at all - the procs are tied to the aoe of the creepers iniitally so each proc will fire once every 10 secs on every target. -
Sounds class. But I'd do the following personally to milk the set buffs
:
Posi's Blast: Chance of Damage(Energy), Trap of the Hunter: Acc/Recharge, Impeded Swiftness: Chance of Damage(Smashing), Trap of the Hunter: Chance of Damage(Lethal)
I would then get 2 IOs from those sets - a Posi Blast acc/dmg and dmg/rech (or any 2 of Trap of Hunter)
That way theres decent recharge, acc and even greater dmg then ^^
The procs will "fire" once a foe enters the aoe and every 10 secs after.
I've done something similar with flares on my mind/fire with a chance for buildup, chance for end drain and eventually a chance for hold with just an acc IO. Made flares essential now -
Congratulations to one of my old associates in crime FullMelt
-
Thanks again to all those who replied to me
I have completed my respec last night (veteran respec ftw!) and incinerate is gone. All hail the glory of perma flares and procs! Took fire breath at lvl 4 and hasten at 22The carnage is huge fun with his really selective procs and he can comfortably solo on vicious on sharkhead at a mere lvl 24
Roll on 26 for terrify.... it's time for the Jabba The Hutt laugh......
Just need to choose between the snipe (for concept and range) and combustion (for pbaoe fun) at 35 lol
PS - hey to the dom/troller formerly known as "Prue", long time no see mate -
[ QUOTE ]
I find it useful, but the aoe and cone attacks seem more in tune with the way I like to play my plant/fire.
Ever tried TKing a load of enemies into a corner and then using fire breath on them btw?
[/ QUOTE ]
Every chance I get lol Although, I normally hit fiery embrace befoe -
I know about doms and melee mate - my lvl 50 gravity/thorns is some indication
Its more the fact that the fire melee just doesnt cut the mustard, espcially when Sands Of Mu is more accurate and damaging *without* slotting
Plus I've noticed that this particular build, noone generally gets close enough or lives long enough to get to melee. Especially with flares, fire breath, fire blast and fiery embrace to go with TK.
Its just because it lacks burst damage like Skewer and I've noticed that many foes just heal once I hit it. Plus it does seem to ground me for a while. I'm just weighing it up as I've tried running mishes with it not in my power tray and I haven't noticed it get any harder (like the Sea WItch mentioned above) - quite the opposite as I am not wasting end on it and getting into a vulnerable position.
I really just wondered if it was a late blooming power, but at this stage the snipe may be better utilised once I get the interrupt down - way more dmg & acc and sick range - again was just trying to gauge popular opinion. Plus if I bin incinerate I can take hasten way earlier
But any advice on combustion and the snipe would also be nice.
Again, any advice and info welcome and thx to those who actually replied -
Ok peeps, I have recently been slowly levelling my new mind/fire dom and have discovered I kinda don't like incinerate. Sick dmg, but poor acc, and my dom seems to now get within melee range too often. I decided this was a good plan when I realised I had just soloed the Sea Witch EB with frankly poor dmg dealing and without being able to use my biggest hitter.
Therefore I am deciding to bin it, but does it have much use later on in lvls as Starshockwave is only 23 atm.
I want this dom to be a good mix of everything and with only a few IO procs is one of the most fun chars I've ever made. Therefore my 2 candidates to replace incinerate are combustion and the snipe.
I'm more tempted by the snipe due to having hover and +stealth freebird, however another aoe is always tasty. Just wondering about what people think of both those powers. Will post my proposed build later tonight as I left my laptop at home. -
Hi everyone. Some time ago I began work on a comic project called "The UD Chronicles" which was a project inspired by all of my associates in Ultimate Darkness on Union - see www.udsg.co.uk I've tried my hardest to do everyone justice, and due to their tireless support, I'm able to bring you all a large chunk of what will be an on-going development. Just like the main CoV game, these comics are aimed at an approximate 16+ audience and does contain some very minor contextual swearing.
They are downloadable as ZIP files from:
http://www.udsg.co.uk/UD1/The_UD_Chronicles.html
Once extracted they are viewable as a series of high detail PNG files which are viewable using the default Windows Xp/Vista and OSX viewers. Certain image slideshow programs may require leading zeroes on initial pages to view in the correct order.
This has spiralled into a regular series now and features 2 solo stories - Sea Of Stars and Trial By Combat. These are both solo stories and each is stylistically different.
There is also now the regular series of the UD Chronicles - Darkbow. The story has many tie-ins with the 2 solo stories, and is an on-going series with each Chapter being around 24 pages. Darkbow Chapter 5 - Deconstruction - is going to be released soon as well
Please feel free to post any feedback/comments/critique/random non-sensical ramblings here
The Sinister Sinful Starscreamer -
Hey mate. I'd slot some slows into tar patch myself too. Maybe some of the special IO procs like Chance For Smashing Damage or the Chance for Recharge Slow (forget the sets). I'd also chuck at least one more slot on Health and Stamina to help yourself.
If you wanted more strategy as well, you could get the heal pool and keep those pets going forever.
I'll maybe have something thrown together mate. (also post in build thread of our own forum too mate) -
Ok just to update everyone - I've been having a creative surge as of late and have now got the start of the gallery and UD movie sections now live on our main site
-
Firstly - welcome to CoV, good is good, but bad is better
If ya need any help/info/SG/teams just shout at myself (on as starscreamer daily, along with assorted corrs and doms) or any of the larger Ultimate Darkness family
