    Devices.

Gives a minion Web Grenade (and that's IT) on Standard level. Bosses get Web Grenade....and Taser (and that's it).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Careful with that - when I only had two custom minions, I ended up with about 37 web 'nades on my flying scrapper. It blew.

I am under the impression that the ammount of people who will or would return after 18 months of having their account inactive is very slim to none.

[/ QUOTE ]Military. Money trouble. If it weren't 3am I might think of other reasons.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I left for about that long because I got mono (sleeping 14 hours a day for 9 months really sharpens your priorities about your spare time) and then started a new job with a cross country move. Over a year later some friends tried to get me to play WoW (blech) and I was reminded how awesome CoH was...and I missed my characters.

I was shocked and delighted to find them all still here, just as I had left them, and that more than anything supported my ongoing subscription. (I'll never leave you again! My preciouses!)

All of that said - holy necro post!

    1. Read e-mail, go "huh...interesting."
    2. Remind self of budget and this new "Impulse control" idea
    3. Check forums

    7. ICON TRIP!!!

*sigh* I'm pathetic. I'd say I'd rather it was $5 than ten... but I bought it, so I guess it was priced fine. Damn you, devs, damn you.
  4. Rambling comments follow:

    1. The only thing that is keeping me from opening a second account with twelve character slots and all the fun toys I can buy is vet rewards. If there was a system in place where I could get my current earned vet rewards on a second account, I'd do it. This would be an awesome thank you (?) or even just a thing. (Note to those of you whining, get over it. Markets change, this is a neat bonus for new people, its not a present for you, other than being able to more easily share a game you enjoy enough to spend money buying it twice.)

    B) I don't know if this is a good thing, but I'm willing to wait and see, just like all the other changes. Yeah, there are some things I'd love to see come out of it, like some love for bases (the 20 k prestige per member is a boon to small, struggling SGs trying to make it over that first big hump in building to get teleporters in. I have three SGs at that point I'm involved in.) costume bits that I never have enough of, power customization(I know, I know... please?)

There are also things I'd hate to see come out of it - the lewt system is very close to the edge of my tolerance. I'd rather it didn't get any worse. (Though Thank god for Mid's) I'm praying that PvP doesn't get any more intrusive (Why yes, I do resent having to tell the Warburg liason to bite me instead of getting a real mission.)

But over all, its their game, I'm here for the ride.

III- I'm horrified that you don't need my resume for the Mountain View staff. C'mon, I thought Chemical Engineers could do anything! I want to be on the east coast with my next move, but ... damn... the opportunity looks fun. I hope the CoH fanbase can step up and get some good people, who love the game, involved. I wish I could be there.
  5. Still there. Still very there. Still very annoying, considering how often I used to offer my porters to people on my teams.
  6. [ QUOTE ]

On a tangent: It IS possible to team with high level players as an extreme lowbie and not PL. PLing, to my mind, is standing around doing nothing. I actually get in there and *FIGHT.* As long as I stay close to my mentor and make good use of my temp and vet powers, I tend to survive for a while. Good RP, good fun, and yes, maybe I'll grab a couple levels. But I don't do it to level. I do it to have *fun.* Debt is just a way to earn more influence legally, after all.

    Suicidal blappers rule!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have a level 12 Arch/EM who lives in PI. My SG has a clump of people at level 42ish that I have no character near there. They have no characters near my little blaster. When I want to play her, or they want to play theirs, I SK up and we start rolling. I could probably level faster by focusing her on more level appropriate stuff, but the RP with those guys is fantastic (there's a scrapper who looks and acts very similar, so there's a fun "little sister" vibe) and I hate soloing. I could PuG, but its more fun to play with my friends.

As long as everybody fights and is getting the rewards they desired (xp, inf, prestige, debt reduction) that is good enough for me.

    powexec_toggle_off Tangent

I petition every time, I don't know what else I should be doing. It is infrequent enough for me that it could be ignorable, but I am concerned about the trend toward in-game property having RL value. I'd rather not have to pay taxes on my Luck of the Gambler +Recharge, or Miracle unique.
  7. I cannot believe that people are suggesting that active accounts have names transfered to "unreserved" status. Ever. For any reason.

No one is ever entitled to a name, not a specific one, not a "quality" one, nada. This policy change is a favor the devs are doing to the people who hunger for names that may or may not be freed up by any policy change. (If it's someone's main, you are SOL.)

This will free up a great many names. From there its a grab bag if The One you want is released. Until now, you haven't been given the right to take someone's name from them. Now, under limited circumstances, you can. But try not to delude yourself into thinking that its your right, and that they have taken something from you by getting there first. They haven't. They didn't take "your name". They took "their name". And if this unreserves it and you claim it, then, and only then, is it yours.

Admittedly, if I was picking a number out of my butt, I would have gone with level 20. High enough to encompass some real mass of characters, low enough to be a reasonably easy hurdle to get to.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I also agree with 20. I think that's around when the emotional attachment starts to kick in.

So does this mean I get to sign LadyK's butt?

    [/ QUOTE ]

First - I'm one of those crazy people who starts to get attached just about the moment I leave Outbreak. (I'm considering doing a server transfer to move and level 13 character off of virtue.) But, having left for over a year and come back, I was delighted to see my characters all still in their original form. (highest level - 34!) I would not have been miffed if the pre-cape kids needed a new moniker.

And as for my butt... well, a lady never tells.
  9. I'm hoping that they did some data mining and found that this was the way to free up the most names with the least disruption of people who came back later.

Admittedly, if I was picking a number out of my butt, I would have gone with level 20. High enough to encompass some real mass of characters, low enough to be a reasonably easy hurdle to get to.
  10. No supercomputer yet. *grin* The spots for the other two telepads are ready and waiting. We should be there in another week or so.

I am none to thrilled about having to have a supercomputer instead of an arcane control main. No more mystic library for us.
  11. I don't know how to do the links, but here's Solace's base on Virtue.

  12. The horoscopes are cute, Behind the Mask is lovely (me too! me too!) The whole things is very, very good.

When does it go daily? :P
  13. [ QUOTE ]

That's there taunt comes into play. It allows a tanker to get enemy attention from a distance. Is it perfect? No. Can it be a crutch? Yes. But it does have its uses.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heal Other is a crutch, but I never see people complain when/how I use it. Sometimes its just nice to have a full toolbox. Most characters, of most ATs, may not have that full toolbox until their 30s, I usually hold off questioning builds until then.

As for me, in my "learning to tank" phase on my fire/fire, I still haven't taken Taunt. I die a lot as it is.
