Pretty sure I joined whatever guild Smoke and Artic are in, I haven't visited their site in like a month and I have never talked to any of them, not sure where they are planning to go, though I'm pretty sure it will be a PvP server.

That's a scary looking zombie leprechaun thing.

Paralytic Poison for Controllers has been taken off the list of banned powers since it's fixed now. You're welcome, Mage.

Quote:I have no idea how to build a PvP MM because I never play them, I've never even had an MM. If you provide your powersets and budget I'm sure somebody can give you some direction.Hmm im starting to get a way better understanding of this im gonna still give it a shot should be fun but does anyone have a build that may be survivable and still able to kill something? I lvled mm new mm to lvl 36 now and did a little pvp in sirens....thing has great survival but it terrible on endurance (of course its normal IOs) but ive stood toe to toe with a full IOd KM/regen scrap...didnt kill him of course but it took him a minute to kill me till my end crashed then i got wrecked

They do, and for the most part they will just drop at whatever level you are, although there are some bugs when higher levels kill much lower levels. It's not a really sound method for farming them or anything, but in 8v8s they do drop sometimes, but I think there is still some kind of timer after you kill someone. Could be wrong about that.

Quote:It's viable, sure... If you can I would recommend trying to get it to 50 anyways, as there's no downside to having a 50 in Siren's as long as you built for Siren's. As the other people above me said, all you need is to pick your powers that you want in the Siren's range, which gives you powers up to level 35, and make sure all your powers are filled with level 33 IOs or lower, or PvP IOs/Purples as those still work even while exemp'd at any level.is it viable to level a Stalker to 30 (is 30 the max level of sc?) and fully IO the char without leveling to 50? Im not sure if I explained that quite right, but I remember when IOs came out you could "twink" a char for sirens call
also, maybe more important, what server is sc most active on?
The other thing you might want to keep in mind is that Siren's is a lot more dead then it used to be, and imo, RV is the only PvP zone left in the game that is fun anymore. I used to be a Siren's zoner primarily, so it kind of sucks that this is the case but I think it's fairly true. The main issue with Siren's is it's lack of activity, and some of the "regulars" there are pretty annoying. -
I will definitely be trying SWTOR, I'm not going to lie I'm looking forward to it quite a bit, but I'm trying not to hype myself up too much in case it's a let down. I made that mistake with CO and Warhammer and a few other MMOs recently that ended up being pretty bad, and was pretty disappointed. Everything I'm hearing about SWTOR sounds good so far, such as it having PvP servers on top of the instanced stuff and warzone type things, so it's hard not to get excited... I've always preferred Sci-fi MMOs over most others, one of my favorite MMOs of all time was AO.

Quote:As far as arena goes, I think at it's core it's fun and stuff. The problem is obviously the lack of developer support, and imo, also the lack of diversity. I feel like there are things that are pretty much useless in 8v8 now that could have been used pre-i13 to get an edge in certain situations, especially certain kinds of buffers, though this is obviously not news to most people.Funny looking back in this thread, some names I forgot like DjQ, he was a ****** and I forgot I did a 2v2 against SoE.
PvP is still entertaining now if not more than the way it used to be back then, speaking as someone who's came back to the game numerous times realizing basically none of the same community is around and having to adapt to the optimal team builds and dealing with the ridiculous price of slotting something with even a half optimal PvP build it was just easier for me to bash the current state of PvP and the community within but honestly the changes really aren't that bad. The zone PvP is garbage now and most of the PvP community now is filled with a lot of care bears, I'd love to have some of the older teams/players come back but truthfully speaking most of them wouldn't be considered probably half as good as they were back when, at least at first.
This game is complicated.
If this game's PvP had any amount of developer support behind it, it would probably improve tremendously and would actually draw some new players in potentially, depending on how they approach it... Until that happens, PvP will just continue to stagnate, and I see no real sign of anything drastic happening.
Zone is just a hot mess at this point, it's fun sometimes but playing in zone after doing 8v8s consistently can be pretty disheartening for some people, but if all you play this game for is PvP then it's often your only option.
One thing I would be interested to see in a future organized PvP league/tourny/ladder would be an all Villain format, similar to the separation between Hero/Villain ladders pre-i13, given enough interest to do it.
Speaking of walls of text... -
Added Nu (@Jinouga, @Nu.) to the roster from the supp draft.

They work well in zone for huddles... A lot of people have no idea what to do when there is an MM or 2 hanging around by their base and everyone just huddles around them. The main thing you need to remember playing MMs is not to leave BG mode... if you leave BG mode even for a brief time you are very vulnerable.

I would like people to try and be available for the drating around 8 PM eastern (NOT 9)/5 pacific tommorow, Thursday the 10th. We will probably use dUmb vent or something like that.

Quote:That would probably be pretty entertaining. If you had to actually "aim" your powers to get them to hit all while running around at 92 MPH and jumping over buildings, I'm pretty sure CoH would be the greatest PvP game ever. Blaze head shots ftw!
Now that you mention it, if you watch some of the early, early alpha versions of CoH combat, they tried to implement some kind of mechanic where you could select specific parts of the NPCs or in this case, player's bodies to get different effects... Such as shoot their legs to slow them down or something like that, or shoot them in the head for maximum damage. Obviously this never made it into the final product, though.
I should also add that in some of those videos, the devs said (before CoH was released) that they intended to implement PvP into the game from the beginning, and that there would be a ranking system built into the Arena that actually mattered, which is ironic considering most people believed that this game was never meant to have PvP. -
Also with Fraps, most people have to change it from full-size to half-size and turn off sound recording... It makes an extremely big difference in performance. If you've already done that then there's not much else you can do to make it run smoother.

Quote:With Fraps, a lot of people have to turn their GFX settings very low to be able to play with it on. I couldn't get WeGame to work with CoH for some reason, but I heard that it's basically better then Fraps. You can always use /demorecord "name" to watch stuff afterward, only it doesn't show you the UI when viewing it. ("Name" being the file name you want to call it without the " " )
I also used wegame for a while and didn't notice any signficant FPS drop while using it.
I watched the first few minutes of the video, it was definitely a good showcase for the Earth/Fire lineup being played extremely well, but I typically get sort of bored watching matches that are that onesided. :P -
Quote:I think for a lot of people at this stage of the game, it's less about "How can we make the most OP stacked team possible?" and more about "How can I get on a team with my friends and people I want to play with and make it work?"I won't join because it's a giant circle jerk;It isn't competitive when you can easily predict the outcome.
If you really want me to join in your events I have no problem emping or debuffing/support for KBs. Ask Dex and Vex I participated in KBs on Terminal Lad untill I got banned or tired of the whiners not being able to stack team.
The constant ******** grates on my nerves.
In the case of several of the teams in this league, that was more or less what happened. I know both Exile and FAP are those kinds of teams, and I'm pretty sure both WARE and Shenanigans are the same as well.
In terms of Exile and FAP, we share a mumble server, and we are all constantly hanging out on Mumble even outside of match or practice times. Camaraderie and team cohesion are more important to me then just making the most stacked roster ever. Despite the fact that I believe Exile is a good team, I wouldn't play with them if I didn't like the team.
I like playing with my team rather then risking doing Kickballs with people that I do not want to play with, even if it means that I would potentially be playing on some kind of crazy stacked KB team for a few rounds.
Also, I firmly believe that teams that are based off of camaraderie rather then stacking are better off at the end of the day. They may start off slow at the beginning, but they are also the teams that are more likely to commit to improving as a team, and will typically be noticeably better by the end of the season... FAP is a good example of that. -

Our numbers are growing steadily, we are still looking for volunteers to create Rocket Board Race Tracks, or Rocket Board skate parks in their base, feel free to let me know if you're interested.

Inappropriate, don't make me get Mod 13 in here to mod smack these suggestive posts!

Quote:Since they just use the beta server for major issue releases now, I think that would help with the issue of long periods of downtime cutting into a test tourny/league/ladder/whatever. I'm not sure if that was part of the issue back then, but if it was then that would help, so long as they continue to only use the beta server for new issues. It's strange, once no one would have considered a none test server tournament serious. It certainly helps level the field because everyone can have the most expensive builds, but I can also remember several matches and even a big part of a tournament, that we're delayed because test was down or unplayable.
Sorry, I've gotten into a bad habit of double posting :/. -
Last I heard this was the case, like the cap on Test server was ridiculously low... Certainly not enough to field 3-4 sets of 8v8s every Sunday.
It may have changed, I heard that a while ago, but if it hasn't then even if we wanted to a test server league would be pretty impossible.
EDIT: Nevermind, Philly on the ball. -
I've said for a while I would like to see actual incentive to PvP, such as objectives in zone that are actually rewarding enough to be fought over, or substantial rewards for killing a lot of people in zone, or having a high k:d ratio or something. That said, I don't ever see that happening. If PvPers get something that PvE'ers don't they will just QQ until it gets removed.
