You can stop right there. I can see that trying to discuss this with you is nothing more than a waste of my time.
I already did... yet you continue to fail in acknowledging the examples that I provided. The facts speak for themselves, and I'm done trying to convince you otherwise. -

Quote:"Because I want it" has never been a valid argument.I definitely think the Shadow Shard needs a revamp and to be made into a combination of different things.
Basically, I think it should be converted into 5 major zones: 1 small Hero-only zone, 1 small Villain-only zone, a heroically themed co-op zone, a villainously themed co-op zone, and a small free-for-all PVP zone.
The existing TFs can be split between the Hero and good co-op zones (but for the love of god, please refine the Dr. Q TF down to between 1/3 and 1/4 its current length, not counting travel time). And of course they need to introduce an equal number of villainous TFs for the Villain and evil co-op zones (such as help Crey acquire resources, help Arachnos because its better than letting Rularuu win, etc.). The PVP zone would be smaller and more open (like a large Shadow Shard island) than the existing zones to encourage faster battles, and my best guess would be to make it a brawl over control of Kora Fruit orchards or some similar resource, perhaps introducing "King of the Hill"-style gameplay.
And if the above does happen, I just hope to god there's no serious grinding required for any badges in that PVP zone. -

Quote:[sips coffee] Good morning, Snow. Let's take a look at your reply. Hmm... "hate". I don't remember using that word. I think "neglect" would be a better word for it, thoughSo do I, but I don't see any developer hate specific to one side or the other.
Quote:I think 4 Issue difference (badges were introduced with Issue 2) might have something to do with it. Don't let something as silly as the fact that there was a year more development for blue side stop your unfounded rant however.
Quote:Hmm. Lets take a look:
2 defeat badges (Weed Whacker, Cold Blooded) are impossible outside of events blue side.
2 defeat badges (Cap Buster, Bane of Dannon) are impossible outside of events red side.
Parity achieved.
Quote:Every gladiator that villains can achieve have a normal amount of hunting to do (in other words about the same effort red and blue side).Again, it's about opportunity/availability (and minutes vice hours/days of hunting). Let's take a look at just a few examples. Note the "Where To Find" and "Neighborhood", as they are very important -

Quote:By the same token, a villain can side switch and get the "difficult" badges too. Or is one of us missing something?
Quote:How? Really, how would you have fixed it? We were told by Positron that the reason outcasts are in that one mission was because of a writer error (they shouldn't have been available at all).
1. Add outcasts to neighborhoods of Mercy and/or Port Oakes. Adjust snake & infected population accordingly.
2. Add trolls to neighborhoods of Mercy and/or Port Oakes. Adjust snake & infected population accordingly.
3. Add rularuu to areas of Primeva in Nerva (or make The Shadow Shard co-op). Adjust arachnos, CoT, and longbow population accordingly.
4. Add vahzilok to neighborhoods in Port Oakes. Adjust the enormous Family population in Port Oakes, Sharkhead, Nerva, St. Martial accordingly.
5. Add more skull bosses to neighborhoods of Mercy and/or Port Oakes. Adjust snake, infected, and Family population accordingly.
6. Add warriors to Sharkhead, Nerva, and/or St. Martial. Adjust Family population accordingly (friggin' Family is everywhere).
That's just off the top of my head.
The whole issue may be redered moot (to a certain degree) whenever GR comes out anyway [shrug] but thanks for asking -

Quote:Indeed, but not just Outcasts. Too bad the devs listened to blueside-only badgers more than they listened to people that badge on both sides (or redside-only badgers for that matter). And for the record, I also badge on both sidesThe fact that Outcasts are so limited in availability red-side was mentioned when the devs were looking at changing badge requirements in the Issue 16 beta.
Quote:They decided against making them more available, on the grounds that Villains have several badge-giving groups that aren't available to Heroes at all (Snakes, Scrapyarders, Cage Consortium, Marcone Family, Cap au Diable Gremlins), whereas Heroes only have a couple of the Croatoa groups still completely unavailable to Villains.
Heroes can earn a potential 698 badges. Villains can only earn 620. How fair is that?
As for the defeat badges...
40 CoH defeat badges http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/CoH_Defeat_Badges
40 CoV defeat badges http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/CoV_Defeat_Badges
Same number, but care to take a guess which side has it easier when it comes to earning them (and by an enormous margin)?
Quote:It was also noted that, when Going Rogue goes live, it will be ridiculously easy for a Rogue to pop over to Steel Canyon or The Hollows to smack down a few of the abundant Outcast bosses.
I, for one, am hoping GR will fix the disparity between both sides and finally level some of the playing field.
I didn't intend for this to sound like a rant, and it's not necessarily directed at you Chad (you just happen to be the one to mention the above first). This is just a subject that has obviously bothered me for years, and they could've fixed it with I16 -
Quote:One of a few redside, actually (rularuu overseers, fake nemesis, skull bosses, troll bosses, etc)This is one kill badge that could actually support the discussion that the Architect SHOULD allow people to get the kill badges.
We're either stuck repeating very specific missions ad nauseam, or waiting for GR to come out.
Paragonwiki is always your friend, but in this case you might get depressed. -
Quote:Well articulated, and something I've tried to convey myself on too many occassions.Given the numerous threads of this nature that have shown up in the four years that I have been playing this game, one would think that the developers would want to explore the possibility of doing something along these lines now that their competition is doing it.
Quote:What I had a problem with is your statement that a suggestion has to have a clearly provable majority for the developers to consider a suggestion. This suggestion has merit, despite those opposed to it.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... Global Name Association is the next logical step in MMO evolution. It benefits new and old players alike, which in the end is a smart business move. -
Although I was able to destroy the flyer yesterday (thereby getting the Heat Seeker badge) I'm still lobbying for a change to this GM for future players.
-
Eh, I dunno. I would kind of like having my character names tied to global, and so would a lot of other people.

Quote:Your perception of my question would be incorrect. My question was purely logical.Only because it seemed as if you were trying to dismiss my opinion based on your perceived notion that I was not a redside player.
Quote:The fact is, that if a blueside player had come here, and voiced his support for your idea, you probably would not have questioned which side he/she played on, but you did with a disagreement.
The truth is, if I was a redside-only player (which I'm not) and you created a suggestion for improving the spawning opportunity of a blueside-only GM, I would never voice an opinion either for or against the suggestion because my opinion as a redside-only player would be irrelevant and illogical. -
As a redside player (or a dev) your input is relevant to the discussion. You're welcome.
Quote:But just so you know, you do not get to determine who responds to your threads. This is an open forum,
That would be incorrect. If a blueside-only player were to respond to this thread (particularly in a negative manner), their opinion would be construed as nothing more than an act of sabotage towards improving an aspect of the game that does not effect them in any way. Therefore, their opinion on a redside-only matter is irrelevant. Please see "Disclaimer" from the original post. -

If you are not a redside player, or a game developer, this thread is probably not for you. These aren't the droids you're looking for. Move along.
Overview
If you're still reading this then you've either chased The White Whale of Grandville, considered chasing it, or you're in a position to influence the change I am about to suggest.
But first, let's quickly look at the other GM's redside and more importantly... how they spawn. Exact details can be found at paragonwiki.
Redside GM Spawning Info
Deathsurge - "defeat 100 gremlins"
Ghost of Scrapyard - "defeat 100 scrapyarders"
Caleb - "defeat 100 demons"
Arachnos Flyer - "Every 2-8 hours (real time) and during dusk (game time), a large transport emerges from the hangar atop the Watchtower..."
Now I want you to reread that again, but this time replace the words "and during" with the word "at"... it's VERY important.
Discussion
There is currently no way players can spawn the Arachnos Flyer, and there's only 1 very special dusk (game time) during an 8 hour window (real time) that it will appear.
So, unless you and your friends plan on camping out in Grandville for up to 8 hours, good luck having a team ready to get this GM.
When it finally does spawn, your window of opportunity to destroy the Arachnos Flyer gets even worse. The only time you can hurt it is when it lands in 4 "hot zones" of The Gutter neighborhood, and drops it's force field for 2 minutes.
To recap, that gives you a potential 8 hour waiting time, and a whopping 8 minutes to destroy it.
Proposed Solution
Arachnos Flyer - "defeat 100 bane spiders in The Gutter neighborhood"
The Arachnos Flyer deploys Bane Spiders around 4 zones in The Gutter neighborhoods to curb the encroaching Arachnoid population. By eliminating 100 of these Bane Spiders, players could spawn the Arachnos Flyer in the same manner as Deathsurge, Ghost of Scrapyard, and Caleb.
If you've gotten this far, thanks for reading... and have a Happy New Year! -
Mine are way off as well. I've been going back and forth with them for 9 days now.
Somehow they've even managed to show Total Paid Time 3 years 1 month along with Veteran Rewards Time 4 years 1 month.
Now I KNOW I didn't get to play for a whole year for free... -

Quote:That is, hands down, the most illogical post I've read today.People complaining about names being unavailable simply have insufficient imagination.
End of argument.
Now stop posting nonsense on the forums and go create your new character named "Qhtrtlkmn.b" or whatever permutation you consider to be an "acceptable name". -
Quote:Epic... win.Is that anything like the stubbornness and false sense of entitlement of the rabid unique name advocates? Yes, I think it is.
Since those terms can be applied to either side of any internet argument, you are being non-unique. Be moar creative, plz.
Merry Christmas!

Quote:I almost spit my coffee at the computer screen. That was hilarious!Right, so anyone who doesn't play the game your way (many alts, many servers) is doing it wrong. Now who's being intolerant?
Tell ya what. Let's take advantage of the free transfers and play server tag. Here's how it works - you announce any character transfers you're planning, and I vacate that server as fast as possible. It's a mutually beneficial situation because we both have one less idiot to put up with. -

Quote:Good morning,If it's a player power, be sure to let us know what Archetype you're playing and any other powers that you might be using that could be contributing to the problem.
I noticed yesterday that my broad sword/shield defense Scrapper has a weird animation now when activating the Whirling Sword power while using the Hover power.
When not using Hover, the Whirling Sword power animation is fine.
When using Hover, the Whirling Sword power animation is now completely different. It almost looks like Whirlwind from the Speed powerset
Thanks.
