Tony, you didn't say which day you are looking at flying in. If it's Friday, I'm arriving fairly close to that time and can give you a ride from the airport. Mind you, I'm stopping at Schaub's first for a Fred's Steak sandwich. You are welcome to join me. We can't check in until after 3 so there will be a bit of freedom to do some things before checking in.
As for departures, I'm flying out sometime around 3:45 Sunday and would be willing to offer you a lift to the airport.
I already have a roomie for the weekend so I can't take you up on that offer, but it's entirely possible that you may be able to find someone willing to share a room. All of the rooms at Dinah's Garden Hotel are smokefree, so you don't have to worry about anyone smoking in the room or the hotel. Those that smoke will have to go outside.
I don't know if you are following CoH on Facebook, but if you are you can comment in their wall post about the FPS to see if someone there might be willing to share a room.
artphobia, I'd be more than happy to offer you a ride to the airport on Sunday. It's a shame Tony didn't speak up sooner. You two might have been able to do like I'm doing and split the cost of the room. -

It's possible that they were just referencing what we've been told would be the case (non-VIP's would not be able to post) and the information that is still on the main website.

Good. That will save me the bother of emailing recipes and salvage to my second account, creating a costume I won't use, waiting for the account to go premium and then checking out the costume pieces (outfitted and merely crafted).

It's possible that those who earlier in the thread commented about the VIP status had tested this themselves.
You apparently hadn't tested it before making your post. I'd rather test something and present evidence than jump on people without testing it myself (especially since those others may have tested it) and declaring their post to be "Not True." The fact that you didn't test it doesn't help with your point. -
Not necessarily. The Armors are simply a purchase. Yes, they are a purchase that can only be made while VIP, but they are still a purchase.
The costume pieces crafted from Recipes use the Invention system. Since we know that IO's crafted and slotted become gray once you drop from VIP status(without the Reward status or the license), it seems highly likely that other crafted pieces (costume pieces and temp powers) would fall under the same code structure and be unavailable. Or they may stay on the character but not have the visual animations (grayed out portion) or similar.
Likewise, would you be able to select those in the character creator if you had crafted them while VIP but not put them into a costume?
I have a second account that should be going Premium in a few days. I think I'll have to craft some temp powers and costume pieces on that account to test and then report back once he's gone Premium.
I'll do two costume pieces with one in a costume and one just crafted so that I can tell.

Using my Premium account, I tried to post a reply here but couldn't. I also tried starting a new thread here but couldn't.

I was just thinking that at level 50 you earn something like 10,000 influence for a boss kill (I'm totally guessing) out of SG mode, but you'd only earn 500 prestige for the same kill in SG mode. I think something was said during the UStream yesterday that Zwankenstein will be busy with other things during the con so they won't be doing any streams. This likely means no "official" recordings either.
I haven't heard if Vangelus is going to be there but if he is I'm sure he'll have his camcorder going and uploading the panels he's at. -
Okay. Decided not to wait to get ahold of Dramen and went ahead and called the hotel. Have my room booked for November 18 and November 19 both. I got the Deluxe Room with 2 Queen Beds for $109/night. No idea what the Garden Room rate would be, but possibly $99/night judging by the price difference in the normal rates and the group rate. I'll assume the Deluxe Room with 1 King Bed is the same rate as the Deluxe Room with 2 Queen Beds since the regular rate is the same.
When you call to ask for the group rate, the name is under Paragon Studios. I tried Freedom Player Summit, City of Heroes, City of Heroes Freedom Player Summit and she wasn't finding it. She then said "I have a Paragon Studios that weekend" and I said "That's it!"
So now the rest of you know what group code to ask for.
All I need to do now is get my email sent with the names and image and I'll be set.

EDIT: D'oh. Forgot to mention that they won't allow you to check in before 3 PM. -
Okay. Flight is booked. Leaving Austin and flying into San Jose arriving Friday morning at 11:35 AM. I'll be picking up my rental (full size car, no Hummer or minivan this time) as soon as I get there, and then my first plans are for lunch or checking in at the hotel, depending on what they tell me about check in times when I call later to book my room after talking to Dramen.
If you are arriving anywhere near this time at SJC and want a ride, pop me a PM.
Similarly, my departure is Sunday afternoon and I have to have the rental car back by 1 PM. If you need a ride to the airport near that time, let me know.
I'll go ahead and book my convention ticket before talking to Dramen and I hope that Liquid's questions are answered before I do so that I'll know what to do.

Also, watch for posts by Red Gren about the Friday Night plans as well as possible plans for Saturday breakfast and lunch. The previous Justice Server (and friends) dinners have been a blast and we welcome players from all servers.

Hmmm. Just noticed that there isn't any information about any group rates or packages at the hotel? Is that an oversight or were you not able to work anything out?
From what I'm seeing on their site, these are the prices:
Garden room (one King or Queen bed) $119/night.
Deluxe room (one King bed larger room) $129/night.
Deluxe room 2 Beds (2 Queen beds) $129/night.
Executive Suite w/ Steam Shower $179/night.
Lanai Suite w/ Fireplace $199/night.
Theme Suites w/ Jacuzzi tub $199/night.
And I'll stop there before mentioning the $300/night and up Signature Suites. -
And now I can begin to finalize my plans.
Those timeslots are going to make it difficult to fit in Bacon Waffles at Holder's Country Inn, but I'm sure we'll be able to work something out. -

You mean like the "Find Contact" button? The one that only gives me a choice of some of my INACTIVE contacts? Wonderful tool!
Part of the problem is that TF contacts don't show up in the Contact List until you start the TF since they aren't a normal contact. They use the Trainer icon IIRC and work similarly to the TF contacts in most respects.
That's why Find Contact is useless for them, just as it is for TF contacts. -

I got lucky being able to attend the second HeroCon the weekend after my gall bladder was removed using the old fashioned method of a long incision. I'd have never made it without the help of my Justice player friends, the help from the Paragon staff and the rest of the players that kept an eye out for me.
Hope all goes well for you and hope to see you at a future event. Hopefully, we'll have adequate notice next time so that people can get time off and have time to financially prepare. -
I know the patch notes said it was for 2-4 people, but saw reports that it wouldn't launch with 2.
Also saw comments that the UStream chat said minimum of 4.
In any event, it's still easier from my POV to just talk to the contacts than to have to set an option, then join a queue just to do a short arc of missions.
Besides, it wouldn't be very intuitive if they added in content that is capable of being run solo and required you to click something called LFG to run it.
