Quote:Thursday is scheduled server maintenance and has been for quite a while now.Isn't there any way they could combine some of these down times? This is getting kind of silly. Down last Tuesday, then again Thursday, then Friday to turn on double xp, and again Monday to turn it back off and now this. I imagine they'll go down again on Thursday again too.
Most of my play time is in the mornings so this really eats into when I get to play.
Most patches come on Tuesdays (not always, but most times), but we don't get a patch every week. The store is updated every Tuesday but it doesn't always require downtime to add those new items. Much of the patch we are getting this week is fixing things (and adding Beast Mastery and Taskmaster Gabriel). People have been wanting several of these fixes since I22 came out.
Trying to push out a patch or update at the same time as server maintenance is not as easy as you would think. We've already had bad experiences when they tried this and wound up with longer downtimes than expected as well as causing additional problems requiring a hotfix.
As for the Friday and Monday downtimes, we don't get Double XP Weekend very often either. How would you suggest they combine the turning on and off of DXP? -
With it being that close to the router already, if using a wired connection fixes the problem then you either have some really nasty interference or some major wireless issues.
What brand/model are the wireless adapter and wireless router? I'm not familiar with the Ralink chipset but it's been a few years since I worked for a manufacturer that made wireless products. -
-
The one thing that really jumps out at me is that you have Ambient Occlusion set to High performance. I'd recommend turning AO off completely.
Also, are you connecting wirelessly when you run the game? (Ralink RegistryWriter entries in Services make me think a wireless adapter using the Ralink chipset is installed).
If so, try connecting the computer using ethernet instead (with the wireless adapter disabled or unplugged) and see if you get the same problems. If the problems stop, it may indicate problems with the wireless signal (interference, problems with the wireless adapter, poor signal strength, problems with the router, etc.). If you still have the problems with it connected by ethernet it will likely rule out wireless being the problem. -
Quote:Would appreciate any actual technical information that could be offered to help in trying to troubleshoot.I guess my computer had an update or something, but after a month or so of not playing, I come back only to discover that the Launcher will not even open. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, but still nothing. I'm currently on Windows 7, and would appreciate any help that could be offered.
Start with Hyperstrike's [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread that is stickied in this forum section. -
Yes, you should have. It was in War Witch's Producers Letter posted on March 1.

It was stated at the Player Summit when they gave information on I22 that only the new Dark sets would be free for VIP's and that other sets released in the I22 window would be a purchase-required for all.
Of course, they only told us specifically about Staff Fighting, they weren't ready to release any information on or even hint at the possibility of Beast Mastery. They need to keep a few surprises up their sleeves. -
Quote:Yeah, I understand how it works. I'm just not sure why Brynstar was saying there was a one week cooldown on the reward so we could have only gotten 4 so far due to it only being out 2 weeks. From my understanding. Once you've done them all you're in this situation.
Once every 20 hours, flashbacking an arc will give you a reward table.
Once every week completing all six arcs gives you a guaranteed Emp merit (or is it two merits?).
So post completing the arcs for the first time the most efficent way of farming DA solo is to do one arc every day, making sure to pick up Taskmaster's mission once a week.
If you ran all of the arcs normally you'd get the choices on each arc. Then you could run one or all of the arcs through Ouro with a daily cooldown (20 hours) on the reward. I'm not sure if the same reward could be chosen for completing a different arc through Ouro before the 20 hours passes, but even if it couldn't it would still have been possible to have run all of the arcs more than once per week and gotten the rewards. There were some during Beta running the entire arc either daily or every other day. That's between 7 and 14 times for 2 weeks, not just twice as Brynstar suggested.
EDIT: I haven't been able to test it yet but you may be able to get the 2 Empys the first run through as long as you talk to Taskmaster Gabriel before starting the arcs from the contacts. I guess I'll try that on one of my scrappers or my 'troller since they haven't run it yet. -
Quote:When did they put a week cooldown on the reward? Or is that only on the Emp/Astral choice? I know it isn't on the Incarnate Component reward choice. We got badges for completing each arc so yea there is a tracker in place to know that we've done them once, and there is a week cooldown on the reward so the most anyone could receive is 4 since it's only been live for 2 weeks, but that besides the point
After getting through all of the arcs the first time on Texas Justice I started running Heather's arc through Ouro. I ran it once a day and selected the same reward (Incarnate Component) each day. I know of some in Beta that ran that same arc several times a day and selected different rewards each run through.
When I saw the patch notes on Beta about this I never expected it to reward me for the arcs I'd already completed.
If they had granted that option I would have considered it a bonus, not something I expected. -
Can we get some pricing listed with those 25% Off and 50% Off items?
It's difficult to pre-plan purchases without pricing info. I'd prefer to map out my purchases first in case I need to add points.
EDIT: Previous Featured Items posts have listed the regular and sale price for items on sale. Can we get a little consistency? -
Quote:Okay MajorDecoy, what did you do with the other 2 hours. You tell people it'll take 25 hours to get it done so they're amazed when you get it done in only 12 hours, and then you get to spend 11 hours gaming?
Wait.
Don't answer that.
You play on Justice.
I'm pretty sure I know what you did for 2 hours.

You've made an incorrect assumption. In your words: "LFG IS NOT WORKING AS INTENDED."
The tool functions as it was intended to function.
Players don't use the tool as it was intended to function.
Players not using it as it was intended to function doesn't mean that it doesn't function as intended.
If you've figured out how to force a change in how players use the tools then you are way ahead of the game.
It IS a suggestion as you have 4 numbered points and one alternative showing, using your words "WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN".
Father Xmas never said it was a dead issue. That's you putting words in his mouth.
The LFG tool does work correctly if players use it as it was intended.
If you try to drive a nail in a piece of wood with the shaft of a hammer and it takes a really long time it isn't because the hammer isn't working as intended, it's because you aren't using it as it was intended.
Ron White has a line that sums up my feelings about people not using things as they were intended then complaining that it isn't working as intended, but it would likely get the post deleted. -
Quote:Um.
He means go here, create a support account (or log in if you have one) and then file a support ticket.
Hmmm.
How to put this.
Quote:A few nights ago I bought fifteen dollars worth of paragon points in the market, I only got a single email, and my billing summary only shows one charge, however, When I log into my bank account, it shows three charges of fifteen instead of one!
Did I do something incorrectly here, or did NCSOFT coincidentally charge me more then needed? I already submitted a ticket to the support system, but I felt like a thread was necessary, see if anyone else has had this happen.

It was 4 posts below yours. Which means that before you started your post it was the 4th post after the stickies and still on the first page using default forum settings.

You'd have to ask a Mac person for that information. It's possible that U Dark would need to update the wrapper, but I know too little about Mac to be able to accurately answer that.
Since they just put out the update for I22, that's why it wants to update. It sees that there is a newer version available. -
Not sure why you didn't just use the existing thread about this. Name of the thread is almost exactly the same.
And (to correct Necrotech_Master's information) it's 5 days, not 4. 120 hours/24 hours = 5 days.
Obligatory link. -
Quote:Bad analogy is bad. It is not natural to assume that a cat will stand still when it's tail is grabbed. That would be another mistaken assumption. And like the child who grabbed the cat's tail, you are technically right. Never mind that the cat was naturally going to run away and pull its own tail, or that it's natural to assume that all XP is XP. The cat was technically pulling its own tail, and the assumption was technically incorrect.
It is natural to assume that all XP is XP, because XP = XP. However, iXP ≠ XP.
Two completely different things. Used in two completely different ways in the game.
XP is used to advance in actual levels all the way to 50. At level 50, you stop gaining XP because there are no more levels to gain.
iXP is used to open an Incarnate slot, not gain levels. -
I find it unacceptable when people come in and whine that they were disappointed something didn't happen that they were never told would happen.
I find it unacceptable when people come in and whine that they were disappointed about something else simply because they made a mistaken assumption about how something works and has worked since it was implemented.
I find it completely acceptable when people post explanations about how something actually works and has worked since it was implemented.
I find it completely acceptable when people point out that what people assumed would happen was not what was stated would happen. -
It still has Fitness as a Power Pool selection since some characters may still have it on their characters that way.
I know I still have a few characters that I haven't felt inclined to respec just to opt in to Inherent Fitness. -
Really? That's your response?
Care to show me where they said anything about iXP being doubled? The only thing I see stated as being doubled is XP, Inf and Prestige. There is no mention of iXP anywhere in the announcement.
Quote:You've been keeping your super-keen eyes and ears peeled for word of the date for the next Double XP Weekend, and now it's almost here! Mark your calendars, because from 7:00 a.m. PST (10:00 a.m. EST / 2:00 p.m. GMT / 15:00 CET) on Friday, March 16, to 7:00 a.m. PST (10:00 a.m. EST / 2:00 p.m. GMT / 15:00 CET) on Monday, March 19, players will receive double the experience points, inf, and prestige for defeating enemies, completing missions, and collecting badges that give XP! Get ready to level up your characters twice as fast, starting March 16! -
Quote:tanstaafl already pointed out that Patrol XP isn't used during DXP weekends but that you still earn DXP. Patrol XP will only go towards reducing debt.No Double xp for Incarnates, and no double xp for any of my toons who have a blue bar (and never can use it up in one night). Double Xp Weekend is Doubly disappointing.
Incarnates do not earn XP, just as any Level 50 character does not earn XP. There is no XP to gain since there are no additional levels to gain.
Incarnates earn iXP which goes towards opening different Incarnate slots. XP and iXP are not the same thing. I never saw anything stated about iXP being doubled, only XP, Influence and Prestige.
If you are doubly disappointed it is because you were mistaken about how Patrol XP works for DXP weekend and mistakenly assuming something would be doubled that was never stated to be doubled (iXP).
IOW, you disappointed yourself by misunderstandings and misplaced expectations. -
Yes, it's known. There is already a thread about this.

Quote:If you had a signature set from when you were a subscriber, it is possible that it will still show. I know a Premium account that had an avatar showing for a while until he removed the picture himself. Of course, all he could do was remove it, he couldn't replace it with a new avatar picture.EDIT: Funnily enough that looks like a Signature below my post, yet I'm still not a VIP. Thoughts?
And as Hopeling points out, your name is now in goldenrod so that indicates you are a VIP.
EDIT: And now it's back to white. Must be some sync issues with the account servers and the forum software causing this. But it would explain the signature appearing and disappearing as well. -
Quote:As DarkGob correctly pointed out, before Freedom you couldn't post at all unless you were a subscriber.Sort of defeats the point of a forum if only privileged people can enjoy it
The information they gave us initially when they were discussing Freedom and the restrictions for Non-VIP's was that Non-VIP's would have NO posting priveleges on the forums, only read capability.
Several forum posters argued to get limited forum access for Non-VIP accounts and they saw that we had valid reasons for requesting that access so they looked for ways to do that.
They tested it out with the Gameplay/Technical Issue & Bugs forum section, which was one of the areas some of us were asking to be open to all. After they found out what kind of restrictions they could implement, they came up with the current plan to allow Non-VIP's to post in the four ALL ACCESS sections.
There is probably no chance that they will open it up completely for Non-VIP accounts. They would need a much larger moderation team to handle having all forum sections being open to Free and Premium players.
They have always had enough problems moderating the forums fairly and consistently as it is. -
