Possibly. It's safe to ignore it since you've updated.
  4. It's doubtful that it's the .pigg files. Training Room working likely is irrelevant since both Live and TR have their own graphics settings in the registry and they could be different.

The best thing to do would be to post the output from CoH Helper and possibly a HiJackThis log.
  5. The patch notes have been available for around a week in the Training Room section of the forums.

Solo, you may be able to install the Desktop graphics card drivers instead using the ATI Mobility Modder tool. The instructions are on the Mobility Modder page and are fairly simple to follow. Just download the regular Desktop drivers for the Radeon HD 4XXX series, download the Modder tool, and follow the instructions on the page.

This was developed before ATI started offering the Mobility drivers on their site.
  7. No need for DXDiag. Just the CoH Helper and HiJackThis logs.

The other two games you mention are both DirectX based games, not OpenGL. Huge difference in the graphics drivers support between DirectX and OpenGL.

The first one you mentioned was released about 7 months after CoH so calling it a newer game is mostly semantics.
  8. It sounds like an interference issue, possibly with one of the other networks you can see. It's very likely that the signal of one of those is over-riding the signal from your landlord's router. One of those neighbors may have changed the channel that their wireless router was on to resolve problems they were having.

Their are myriad things that can affect the wireless signal one computer is receiving and not affect other computers.

Then again, it could just be the Belkin adapter. I love Belkin cables, but their network devices are ... ugh ... too problematic. I've seen more unresolvable problems with Belkin network devices than any other three brands combined.

Of course, I pretty much stick to Linksys/Cisco and occasionally D-Link. I've had the fewest unresolvable problems with these brands.
  9. As Bill said, it's been this way since the migration to vBulletin. I can usually overcome it by going back to the PM and hitting Reply again. In my case, it's not always the same people, and I can usually easily send replies to anyone even if I have to use the Back button and try it again.

There was something else I was doing for a while, but I can't recall what it was. It wasn't what Kheldarn suggested however. Now I at least have another method to use, if I remember it.
  10. You have 8% free space on your hard drive. Yes, it's close to 40 Gigs, but many windows routines don't look at the amount of the free space, only the percentage. With that little free space it's very likely Windows is constantly hitting the hard drive as you play.

I'd recommend first freeing up quite a bit of space on the hard drive. Windows wants at least 20% free space for many tasks, and more free space is better.

Did your friend also install the game through Steam? If not, you may want to uninstall the game and install it cleanly through a download from the PlayNC site instead of using the Steam download. We've seen various problems with some of the Steam installs since they started offering it, so it's something to at least consider.

A HiJackThis log would be helpful to see as well since that would help us see what's running while you are gaming that may be affecting you.

The other suggestion I'll make is to regularly type /unloadgfx in the chat box. Since you say it starts when you exit a mission, I'd recommend typing it right before exiting and again after exiting the mission.

Gonna run SeaTools Dos to see if that helps to isolate the HD as the problem and then Memtest to see if its the RAM if the HD passes.
Hopefully you meant chkdsk instead of chdsk.
  12. A fix for this and other mission door issues is currently on the Test Server.

Ok first i am using spybot for malware, running it every 2 days.

Second dont really use antivirus as most of them are resource hogs, i know it makes me vulnerable, but as long as you dont visit strange sites dont open any kind of e-mails from people you dont know i think i should be ok.
That is no longer a safe assumption. I regularly have to remove viruses and malware from computers at work that haven't been to any strange sites.

My start up programs are very few i mean i have Razer Lachesis, xonar d2 Audio center, Daemon and Nvidia settings. Also what toolbars i have that i have remove?
Take a look at your HJT log. The O2 section lists BHO's and Toolbars. The O4 section lists the items running at Startup.

Furtermore i am downloading now the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware i already have the paid eddtion but not installed as it never finds anything. I will post the results in a few minutes.

Also what two download managers i have? I only use Internet Download Manager.
Your HJT log also shows the IGN Download Manager running in the O4 section.

In addition i forgot to mention i run scandisk and defragment a week ago and no bad secors were mentioned in the logs.

Well i checked it with quick, nothing went with full and found some patchers and trainers but nothing else

    EVGA GTX 550 Ti

Some have reported good success with using the newest Beta drivers for that card.

I haven't run a newer model nVidia card for quite a while now, so can't test it.

Interesting. This is the second time I've seen the Unknown entries showing up when people have explicitly stated that they ran it as administrator when they didn't the first time.

I'd have to conclude from this that some program on the computer is causing these entries from being read correctly from the registry. I've not been able to duplicate it using 8 different computers and 3 different OS loads, so I'm not sure what causes it. Unfortunately, I haven't seen Zloth posting in a long time, so doubt he (or she) would be looking at these posts and have any ideas why CoH Helper can't report those entries.

I'm wondering if it is also what is causing the resolution entries to show up oddly. In your case, 19200 x 10800 instead of 1920 x 1080.

    EVGA GTX 550 Ti

If you are running the EVGA PrecisionTool (or any similar tool to control clock/fan speeds on the card) turn it off.

The EVGA PrecisionTool (and similar tools) are known to cause issues with the game.

Also, when you ran CoH Helper did you right-click and select Run as Administrator or did you simply double-click it to launch it? If you didn't Run as Administrator that would explain the Unknown entries.
  17. Something is blocking CoH Helper from reading from the registry, which is all it does with regard to the registry. That indicates a problem with your system or a program behaving badly and doing something you don't want it to do.

It's possible that whatever is causing the problems with CoH Helper reading from the registry is also causing your problems with the game.

The first thing I'd recommend would be to run a full Virus scan on the computer. Of course, I can't see any entries for an Anti-Virus program in your HJT logs, so I don't know which (if any) you have installed.

The next thing would be to run a full malware scan. I'd recommend downloading, updating and running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free edition and possibly also try SuperAntiSpyware as well. I've caught things with both of those that Spybot didn't detect or remove. I like Spybot, but I also recognize it has it's own limitations.

After that, I'd try disabling the nProtect Game Guard Service and turning off the two Download Managers that are running as well as Daemon Tools. I'd also try turning off the TeaTimer service in Spybot (I've seen the TeaTimer do some things I couldn't explain) and even temporarily disabling Spybot altogether.

If it were my system, I'd remove the extra Toolbars and stop most of the programs that are running at Startup as most of them only need to run when their program calls for them.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'd also make sure Windows is fully updated, including Service Pack 1. Windows Updates are there for a reason.
  18. Please follow the instructions in Hyperstrike's [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread that is stickied in this forum.

That will give those of us with technical knowledge most of the necessary knowledge to begin to try to assist you, which is much better than just throwing out random suggestions with nothing to base it on.
  19. You could always put the set of Enhancements in your tray, copy that character to the Test server and try it out yourself then report back as to whether or not it is still bugged.

That would also be a good data point to PM Black Scorpion with giving him the date/time/character etc that you tested with on the Test server so that they can have actual current data to look at.

As far as I know, the person that wrote TweakCoH moved on long ago and doesn't play anymore. I think they may have also changed the programming languages they were working in since then, but I'm not sure on that.
  21. I don't see an AV program in the HJT log, but I could be overlooking it. What AV program are you running? You may want to set an exception in your AV program for the CoH folder. Microsoft Security Essentials and a few others have had/caused issues with some of the AOE powers and with KB powers so it wouldn't hurt to try it.

The other thing that jumps out at me is the TBPanel entry for controlling your video card. I know that some of the video card tuning apps like EVGA's Precision Tune and other similar programs cause conflicts with the game, so TBPanel may be as well.
  22. You could uninstall the Service Pack instead of doing a System Restore, then uninstall the drivers, run driver sweeper, install SP1 manually and reinstall the video drivers.

Go to the Control Panel. Go to Programs and Features. On the left side of the window, click on View Installed Updates. Scroll down to the section headed Microsoft Windows. Scroll down the list and look for the Service Pack entry. Highlight it, click Uninstall at the top of the list and follow the prompts.
  23. First of all, I'm glad you've gotten the issue resolved, whichever of the steps it was that fixed it.

Second, I'm still puzzled by the Unknown entries in CoH Helper report. Another oddity I just noticed is that it also isn't reporting your Drives or the Free Space on them. I thought at first it might be due to Service Pack 1 so I ran CoH Helper myself and everything is correct in it's report. I'm even running the same version of Win 7 as you so I know it's not a problem there. I don't know if Zloth is still playing or not but I haven't seen him post in quite a while, so I doubt he'd be looking at the Tech Forums to see this himself.

Since CoH Helper only queries the registry for the game settings and then interprets those, I wonder if your Antivirus or some other program might be interfering with the queries CoH Helper runs.

As a final observation, I'm hesitant to try to use TweakCoH since Issue 17 was released. The last version of TweakCoH was released in March 2007, and none of the Ultra Mode settings had been implemented at that time. It's also possible that some of the older settings that TweakCoH could adjust have been changed slightly and the settings (registry entries) could get corrupted using TweakCoH now. I haven't had time to test TweakCoH since Issue 17 but I hope to get a chance to in the next month or so.

I'd love to see someone with some coding skills develop a new app similar to TweakCoH that can adjust the new graphics settings that are available, but since my programming experience is so outdated, I'd have to wait for someone else to do it.

Without the NVidia drivers the game throws up an error message saying I don’t have a compatible video card and quits.
I think there is a bit of a misinterpretation here. Hyperstrike wasn't asking you to start Windows in Safe Mode and try running the game, which would cause the nVidia drivers to not load, but to run City of Heroes in Safe Mode.

If you are using the NCSoft Launcher, right-click on the City of Heroes entry and select Properties. On this page put a checkmark in the Launch in Safe Mode box and click OK, then launch the game.

If you are using the old original updater, start the updater, click Next but before clicking Accept on this second screen put a check mark in the Safe Mode box.

Something that concerns me is all of the Unknown entries in your CoH Helper report. I suspect that you didn't run CoH Helper as administrator and that it couldn't correctly report the registry settings due to this.

If you did run it as administrator, there are deeper issues in your computer.

As for the StarDock software, like HyperStrike I've seen several of the Stardock programs cause issues with the game, likely because they are using similar code in some areas and that code is part of what causes the problems.
