It isn't clear if you think reiella is female or if you think I'm female. If you are trying to claim I'm female, then you've made another incorrect conclusion.
If you are refering to me, I've not done any back-pedalling. I've stuck to exactly what I said and what I meant. People incorrectly assuming I'm saying something I didn't say isn't me back-pedalling. It's them making an incorrect assumption. -
I made an observation about friends of mine. Another thought about those same people occurred to me so I added it to the post.
Sometimes one thought brings up another thought. That doesn't mean that they can't be stated in the same post. It just mean that two separate thoughts were stated.
It also doesn't mean that the second observation is linked by anything more than the fact that it is discussing the same group of people. -
Sarcasm. It's not just for breakfast anymore.
-
It's two observations about some people I know. Nothing more. You are trying to make it say something that was not the intent of the post.
I could bring up the price those technicians paid for flash drives and it wouldn't make it fallacious, even though it would be an observation that is irrelevant to both of the other observations. It would merely be 3 separate observations about the same group of people.
I've always stated that they were separate observations. You are the one trying to tie them into being connected in some manner other than that it is observations about the same people.
Another incorrect inference by you. -
You can twist my words all you want and try to say I'm saying something that I'm not.
That doesn't change the fact that I've not said what you are saying I've said.
You may have incorrectly inferred that I implied something, but that doesn't mean that I've said that thing. It means your inference was wrong.
The fallacy is yours, not mine. -
Quote:There are quite a few people I know that refuse to install the crapware Steam Client on their computers. Oddly, all are computer technicians that have had to remove some really nasty malware from multiple computers.
EDIT: It seems rather ridiculous to require the installation of the Steam Client just to be able to claim a game code to apply to an existing game account that isn't accessed through Steam.Quote:Your second statement depends on the first statement to exist. Or else you are referencing an undefined 'they'. So, let's go ahead and combine your second statement, that's supposed to be taken alone with appropriate nouns make explicit.
Quote:Oddly, I know quite a few computer technicians that have to remove really nasty malware from multiple computers who refuse to install the crapware Steam Client on their computers.
Quote:
That is the statement being drawn into question. If that is not what you meant, it is not the reading comprehension of the second party that should be questioned it is the ability of yourself to communication that needs to be questioned.
Quote:That said, I don't think it's a case of you just wanting to brag about having computer technician friends who remove really nasty malware from multiple computers. I think it is more a case of utilizing a logical fallacy.
You think it is a case of utilizing a logical fallacy because you are misinterpreting what was said and are trying to make it into something it isn't.
You can keep trying to put words and meanings into my posts that aren't there. I don't have to stand by and let your fallacious interpretations of what I've said stand unchallenged. -
With the date for the video drivers showing as 01/01/0001 and the other drivers showing proper dates, it looks like the video driver installation is corrupted. Several people are reporting problems with the most current versions of the ATI drivers so I'm going to link the 11.2 version as that is one that seems to work for several. Here is the link to the Previous Drivers page for that card and OS combination.
My recommendation would be to reinstall the video drivers using the steps below:
Download and install Driver Sweeper but don't run it yet.
Download the 11.2 drivers but don't install them yet.
Go to the Control Panel's Programs and Features page and uninstall the ATI drivers and software for the video card.
Reboot the computer in Safe Mode. Cancel any Hardware Wizards that come up.
Run Driver Sweeper and have it remove the left-over traces of the ATI drivers.
Reboot the computer normally. Cancel any Hardware Wizards that come up.
Install the drivers that you downloaded previously.
-------
You can check to make sure that they are installed cleanly by running CoH Helper again and checking the date. I'd wager that the date for the video drivers will show correctly and also not be yellow.
EDIT: If the sound card drivers had been showing the date in the same format I wouldn't suspect corrupted drivers but rather that the date format is not set for MM/DD/YYYY format or something is set to a non-US setting. -

People need to learn reading comprehension skills. Two separate sentences, two separate thought processes.
People are trying to read things into my posts, again, that are not what I'm stating.
The only thing that should ever be read into my posts that isn't explicitly stated is sarcasm. -
Quote:No. It just needs the billing information. Cancel before the billing date and nothing is billed. So wait, are you telling me that the game is forcing him to buy another month just to upgrade his account with the Going Rogue Collectors Edition?
For example. Log in to account, apply code and put in card information. Log into game. Cancel billing. Still get the free month, nothing else paid for. -
Please show me anywhere in my posts where I said that the malware they had removed from people's computers came from Steam.

Perhaps I'll ask people that bring us their infected machines to clean how they are connecting to a void of nothing. Since that is apparently where you think malware springs from.
The techs I speak of wouldn't know since they keep their machines clean. -
Quote:That bolded part doesn't seem to fit in with the recent design decisions.I was wondering with Incarnates having trials that go beyond the normal lore; if things involving the Rikti World was going to be done with Incarnates.
Now non-Incarnates wouldn't be able to do anything in the Rikti World because seeing how Hero 1 turned out traveling the Rikti World even being a full Incarnate. It is apparent what happened to the non-Incarnate teammates(they're not a alive). So travel to the Rikti World would conclusively be an Incarnate event.
But, what I was thinking was rather than having a single event that's played repeatedly, individual characters would have minor tasks to accomplish each trial to progress a story line. The story line would deal with the Traditionalist, the Restructurist, and the problems caused by Nemesis; the struggles in Rikti World as to what needs to be done now and next when Nemesis meddling is found out by the Rikti. The main part of the trial would have several events with a few chosen at random to be the main focus of the league. This is to keep the trial from becoming repetitive too quickly. -

Under Service Name is HTTP listed? If so, select it as 80 is the default HTTP port.
Then put the IP address of your computer in the Server IP boxes and click ADD. -

Quote:I think some players obsessively refresh the Dev Digest and Community Digest every 10 seconds hoping against hope that they'll finally say they are considering or looking into supporting X-Box, PS3 or Linux.God forbid a person not obsessively read each and every single post a dev makes. That post was over a month ago, maybe the OP returned after that? I check the Dev Digest on a regular basis and even I missed that one, so maybe chill out a touch.

Quote:I've done a little digging into old notes and it seems like the previous bug I mentioned was people talking in Global channels getting a long random string of characters at the beginning of what they said. It got really frustrating for players and the devs and it seemed like since it happened so much that it HAD to be easy to duplicate. But the devs couldn't duplicate it at all, or if they did it was after seemingly random occurrences and then they couldn't duplicate it again when they tried. One or more of the players finally noticed that it only happened at some point after they had been to WW/BM. If they didn't go to the market, they never got it. If they went to the market they always got it. After sending that information to PS, they were able to duplicate it and find what was causing the problem. IIRC, it was something that SHOULDN'T have had any effect on chat at all. Then they had to figure out how to patch it without breaking something else.I'm afraid the problem is Tex that I seriously doubt any MM has a clue what causes it. Like I said I can run multiple missions, on teams or solo, and everything is fine and then at some point I realize my minions are now babysitting the front door. Fortunately this has happened to me often enough over the years that I am conditioned to check as soon as I enter and IF they don't follow me I /pet_release and resummon.
As to some common demoninator.. I cant think of one. There is no particular enemy group I face that causes it
There is no particular map type.. I have seen it occur in caves, warehouses, office buildings, even outdoor instnace missions (including the Incarnate trials). Heck I have even had it occur AFTER I left a mission. Level up and hit exit .. head off to the trainer and realize my minions are all still sitting back and the door of the mission i just completed.
It has nothing to do with travel of any sort. I have had it happen when I was on the 5th or 6th mission in the exact same zone so we can't link it to the use of the trains, ferry, Ouro portal or any other means of zoing.
At time it just seems like there is a tiny little gremlin in the server that decides.. "Well that MM has been having way too much fun. Let's lock his pets at the front door." This isn't a new issue to be honest I can;t recall exactly how long it has gone on with no solution short of that slash command. Frankly I am a paying customer, and plan to continue as a VIP,after Freedom starts. IF the tech team needs data on why a particular bug is occurring then maybe someone on TECH TEAM should create a mastermind and play it for a while so they see the bug for themselves. I realize that's probably never going to happen ... the economy isn't good enough to support having someone on staff to just PLAY the game day in day out or they wouldn't need us for BETA testing. But I really have no idea what is making it happen and no idea WHAT to look for as possible reasons for it. Add in the fact that I play the game to have fun and don't keep a note pad and pencil handy so I can LOG everything I do on every character day in and day out. The chances I will remember some small intimate detail that may be causing this to happen are very slim. It just seems unfair somehow that after all this time they seem quite happy with the only fix being.. delete all pets and resummon.
Now, that being said, I know a couple of the QA team at PS personally. I'm fairly sure that at least one of those two plays an MM on a fairly regular basis. I know a few of the others tangentially due to interactions on the Beta server in the past and on the forums. With all of the bug reports that have been sent in I'm also fairly sure that they've had someone trying to reliably duplicate it so that they can find the cause and fix it.
I'm also fairly sure that it frustrates both of the one I know when they can't find the cause of a problem, and I'd guess it frustrates anyone working at PS that has tried to work on this problem.
I'd feel sorry for anyone that had to dig through some of the code for the game and try to make sense of several of the things that are in there. With no documentation. Or cryptic notes like "not sure why this is here, but leave it or X, Y and Z stop working" or "this shouldn't do anything but it has to stay in or A and B stop working" or similar notations. -
Glad to be of help. And glad Bill had the image.
