    Log-in bounce

I have a particularly strange issue. When I start the game, I am able to get to the character selection screen on pretty much any server, but when I actually try to log into a character, I end up being bounced back to the main log-in.

I've found that I'm successfully able to log in if I hit the "repair" button on the NCLauncher, but that eventually fades and after running a mission or two, I'm zoned back to the main log-in.

I'm tempted to do a complete re-install, but I'm not sure if that would work.
  2. Someone find the Master.

We need to deal with that Paradox Machine.

  3. Since, as you said, it is a hospital, I suggest doing something practical, educational, likely to assist with speeding recovery/improving mood, and just a bit on the crazy side.

Build an airstrip with remote controlled aircraft.

If true, I would think we'll be seeing a lot of them attached to things like the uniques, as well as the very powerful non-uniques.

I'd have to ask if that is also true for proc enhancements, as slapping it onto a purple's proc would be insane.
  5. Does this mean we get a certain Aztec weapon?
  6. Actual Canadian here.

Don't care who wins, just want the seven games.
  7. Xylric would probably use wormholes.

Game Theory would most likely use his hand-built car.

As if we didn't need any more proof that you were one of us.

    Canadian, I mean.
  9. Heard from many different scrappers:

    "Oooo! Targets!"

    *Giggles*
  10. Of course, it appears I will need to reschedule it anyway, due to a class party that evening.
  11. I'm looking to run a Manticore Taskforce using only Melee ATs (Scrappers, Tankers, Brutes, Stalkers, and Villian EATs) on the 17th at 7 PM EST. This isn't been prejudiced against the other ATs, I simply want to have a group of fun get up close and personal with beating a sense of ethics into Crey employees.

RSVP to this thread if interested.
  12. They've created a method of generating Hard AI that will allow players to interact with NPCs on the same level as they would with each other.

    ...

Not really, but that would be flat out awesome.

The coming storm won't be an invasion from Praetoria. That wouldn't fit with the broad allusions we've heard since. The "Coming Storm" that is alluded to seems to be affecting the whole multiverse... seems to be akin to things like the "infinite earths" DC crisis. My guess is we're already seeing some of the initial effects of the storm ever since dark mirror introduced our dopplegangers.

Since this is a thread for baseless conjecture, here's mine for the "coming storm":

Whoever sets things in motion (a nemesis plot?) he may be inspired by Recluse's Victory and/or Project Destiny. In those, Recluse isn't satisfied with knowing that he wins on some other dimension, he want to bind that dimension to this one, bringing his victory here... colliding those dimensions and all their occupants together.

The difference here, though, is this is a "storm" of dimensions colliding into themselves... coalescing with primal earth. It will set off wars and struggles of epic proportion as reality itself twists and cracks to make room for conflicting histories and the myriad possibilities whittling down to one true reality. Some of our doppleganger encounters are from the earliest incidences... the worlds closet to our own starting to merge over... we're not "merged" with them due to our experineces in sidestepping outside the timestream / dimension hopping. Things will only grow more dangerous as the storm proceeds. Incarnates... spread across all these issues... will deal with these cosmic metaspace collisions. We're talking Issues 20, 21, 22+

After the multiverse crashes, one world will emerge. Mender Silos is trying to set things in motion to guarantee his desired outcome. Our mystery letter-writer (Tyrant?) has his own objectives. Their goal is to influence what this world will be- perhaps to be the gods that make the next world, whether benevolent or in malice. We fight for or against these parties to save what we hold dear or grasp at the power we want for ourselves... battling to the very last moment of existence... when all goes white.

At that point, a new city will emerge. Its past and present will be crafted from the remnants of the once-divided universes, and people will remember it as if it had always been that way... because it has. Parts will resemble Praetoria, Paragon, and even the Rogue Isles (all ultramoded) and its inhabitants will be us... and not. This begins CoH's equivalent of DC's "One Year Later" and Marvel's "Heroes Reborn"-- a reimagining of our world and the heroes within it. A universe that's not quite like the one we see as afterimages as we dream of battles that we don't really remember participating in.

It'll be a new city... and world... that's in desperate need of heroes, again. The City of Heroes will be over. Welcome to City of Heroes 2.0.
So.... a CoX version of a Time War of the Doctor's persuasion?
  14. Probably stated, but for the weapon based sets (as well as shields), the capacity to choose which hand holds what would be absolutely perfect. I get a little tired with all characters having either the same handedness or being ambidextrous. A little variation is a good amount of spice to add to the game.
  15. I have three questions, and although I do not think them particularly complex, due to the fact that I am in marketing myself, and as such have a good idea of what would be allowable information to share, I don't particularly expect all of them to be answered... at least, just yet.

First, as someone who is just getting into the game design industry as a hobby/possible career/possible company to start, I'm curious as to how you got into the industry. What was the first game you worked on?

Second, what would you consider to be the most innovative part of the CoX world?

Lastly, If there was any one feature that you wish was never included in the game, what would it be? Conversely, if there is any one feature that you would like to drop everything to include, what would it be?

    Oranbega...

The thing about history is that it has a strong tendency to be written by the victors.

Everything we know about Oranbega is thus propaganda.
  17. I'd like to see handedness added to the game, such that we could choose which hand is holding the broadsword, mace, axe, shield, or what have you. It's a given that DP characters are ambidextrous, but it would be very nice to choose which side of the body the animated objects are on.
  18. Because I'm Canadian, I'd have to go with Detective Frasenbacker.
  19. I have a couple of photos that I'm planning on uploading as examples of what I'd like to see added to the game. Namely memorials for the First and Second World Wars. Considering the number of heroes who lost their lives in the Rikti War and other incidents, an out of the way, but still visible, (in other words, subdued) memorial with all the names of the fallen engraved would be a nice touch.

Also, given that the background of Detective Frasenbacker in Faultline establishes the likelihood of a Canadian Consulate in Paragon, I'd love to see a building with the Canadian flag added to reflect that.

  21. If you've read the other thread on the Omega Team letters, you'd have noted two submissions from me, both of which clearly state that I would have been on the Omega Team, because "Someone has to do it. Someone has to be there."
  22. This one is from a character that I recently created that seems to be extremely interesting. He's called Onzekerheid, which I believe is Dutch for "uncertainty."

    Quote:
    Grandfather,

Do you remember that night you spoke of so long ago, when last our world faced such a Great Nightmare? Of how soldiers came through your hometown door to door, seeking to erase from existence all memory of those who didn't quite fit the image of purity that they had been lead to believe? Of how you fled in the middle of the night, knowing that you would be hunted?

You told me that you had made it to France, settled in with friends in Saint-Aubin, and that you had felt safe, because no one there would reveal that you, we, were Jewish. I had difficulty believing that you were telling the truth about the night you finally had to yet again flee into the shadowy mists of the pre-dawn. But my skepticism was for reasons different than what I had told you.

You headed north, I remember you saying that clearly. I've seen that so clearly in my dreams even before you told me about it. You were headed for the sea. I know the terror you felt as you heard the soldiers shouting and the dogs barking only several hundred yards behind you. I remember you tripping over an exposed root, and crying out in despair because you knew that you were about to be caught.

You never told me what had happened after that, I know that you've wanted to, but it was too unbelievable for you to be able to tell anyone. I wanted you to know that I actually do know what happened, that's why you're receiving this letter. That's why... I'm gone.

When you tripped, you landed facing the sky, and could see light in the clouds above. How could you have known that this would be the night that the Nightmare would finally abate? You heard the dogs whine farther off, and the soldiers shouting... they'd seen the lights two. I watched through your eyes as dark shapes began to descend from the clouds. There were only a few at first, but they grew to dozens, and from dozens to hundreds, and from hundreds to thousands. You heard the naval fire coming from the beaches, you heard the planes flying overhead. That was D-day, Grandfather.

And that is why I am gone. Now, it is not only one small group of people that risks extinction, it is all men. All of us, the entire human race, men, women... even children. The Scourge that struck Europe in your youth pales in comparison to what we all now face.

I can help. I think I understand what you have been trying to teach me for my entire life, my grandfather, and it pains me to realize that I have not been listening. For that, I am sorry.

I do this because of the Canadians, Grandfather. You know as well as I what they have done for all Dutch. You met Grandmother the day the Canadians drove the Germans out of Arnhem... our home. I will be serving with a Canadian, Grandfather, who is known as Vimy Rose. I will repay the debt our family, our people, owe to those who would love Justice, to those who would love peace.

    Afscheid,

    Onzekerheid
  23. My favourite memory would have been the release of Issue 10 and the beginning of the Second Rikti War, when my server (Pinnacle) banded together a hundred of the best and brightest heroes and successfully brought down a drop ship or two.... after they had been altered to be immune to most mez effects.

A close second would have been finding out that the population of Canadian players was enough for a dedicated super group.
