Quote:I thought they explored that aspect well in this movie. It was particularly excellent in the climax, though to specifically say why would be to wander into spoiler territory (although some of it is certainly expected by anyone familiar with the original stories).I so want to go see this. Maybe after Christmas.
I'm hoping they have just as many or more of the planned attack sequences that Holmes displayed in the first movie. Those parts were my favorite.
Most of the movie seems to play out as a carefully constructed plan of Holmes and/or his nemesis. The pacing is excellent. The antagonist is portrayed very well. -
If I thought it looked cool and was/would be fun to play I'd buy it.

Quote:Indeed. In COH, your equipment actually gets weaker or even stops working altogether (if this mirrors anything in other MMOs, it's similar to equipment wear/durability sans the ability to 'repair' rather than replace). IMO, that behaviour should have been nixed about the same time as ED went into play (at least), either with Enhancement bonuses steadily scaling up by level as they do with Basic IOs, or with levels entirely removed from TOs/DOs/SOs.It's completely different, actually.
In City of Heroes, when you level up, your enhancements (unless they're IOs) get weaker, and provide less of a bonus.
In addition you start fighting stronger enemies.
In Diablo, when you level up, your sword is exactly the same as it was before.
Your sword is less effective than it was before because you can now fight stronger enemies, but the sword hasn't changed. -
Just saw this today and, in my opinion, it's better than the first movie by far. It's not very often I can say that about a sequel.

Quote:The system would be fair if you could get the tokens immediately by paying ahead your subscription, but they failed to figure out how to implement that (not for lack of trying, I gather). I mean, right now I could buy enough points to get the three tokens I'd need for Celestial, but that's far more points than I really see myself needing. I already have a surplus from the couple of tokens worth of points I bought to get to Tier 9.Which is why the current system is working exactly as intended. New players getting reward tokens thru the purchase of Paragon Points spend the same amount of money the long term vets have spent over the past 84 months.
This system is exactly what new players have been begging for for years because they claimed it was "unfair" that they had to wait for their vet rewards to unlock, and couldn't buy Vet Rewards by simply spending the same amount of money the long time vets did.
The new system is totally fair and unbiased. Everyone that spends the exact same amount of money gets access to the the same rewards. The ones willing to wait can get it eventually thru just their subscription, while the "Gottahaveitnao's" can get it immediately by simply spending the cash. -
Quote:I don't personally care about it either way, having no interest in PVP or the IOs therein. Another solution to the imagined problem I might suggest is to artificially inflate the supply, thus killing the necessity for any such farming.Which I wholeheartedly disagree with since it won't fix the issue, it will simply artificially limit supply of an already moderate-demand, extremely-low-supply item that has already been artificially inflated with a timer without really solving the issue since people with multiple accounts (that can get IO drops) could still set up multiple characters and AFK farm.
If you're that opposed to people AFK farming PvP drops, simply go find them and kill their characters yourself.
Of course, getting rid of the PVP zones and associated IOs altogether would also work. -

Quote:And I'm saying to limit it temporally based on the character receiving the reward rather than their target. To make it: "You already got a drop this week, you can't have another one."There's a timer already. It's just based on killing the same person over and over "ie, you already killed them, so kill someone else for the next while" rather than "you already got a drop tonight, you can't have another one".
That's why people are farming multiple free accounts instead of just one. -

I'd like to see that if it meant I could unlock the option of retro Arachnos costumes for my SoA...

Quote:If only...Back when the game first launched and you could slot ANY type of enhancement in a power, regardless of what kind it was. I kept putting range enhancements in Blazing Aura, hoping that by level 50 I'd be able to clear the whole map of Atlas Park just by standing still under the statue.

Anyone else find it funny that Dark Knight Rises looks to be loosely based on the Knightfall arc?

Quote:On the other hand, if/when they do make another Batman movie I hope they don't spend a lot of time retelling the origin yet again.Well, Nolan is stepping away after this. I really which he wouldn't but lets just hope he sends this Batman universe off with a bang. I also hope that he has some kind of artistic rights to this Batman... I really don't want another director coming along and trying to continue where Nolan leaves off only to completely screw it all up.

Quote:Ah, well, the pic only seems to show a front cloth.Sister Solaris's loincloth is the same as Sister Airlia's in a different shape/color; it's two capes (one for the crotch flap and one for the butt flap). The devs have nixed it.
In any case, a flowing loincloth in the front OR the back should obviously be fine. With a short, non-flowing piece on the opposite side. -
I hate the way it looks, but I hope it's going to be good.
-
Quote:That female Gunslinger piece shows that one waist cape is fine and thus something like Sister Solaris' loincloth should be possible at the very least. You mean like Sister Airlia and the Sister Solaris and her sybils? The devs have nixed the idea. Too many capes on one model.
-
I like the idea, especially for the flight poses.

Quote:I thought the way they should've done it initially was to divorce the bonus items from the tiers so that they would've just been VIP bonus items that one could purchase with tokens if subscribed rather than needing to be tier 9 first. Of course, now that I've spent tokens on things I don't care about having in order to get to tier 9 I'd be slightly annoyed if they did it. (But only slightly, and I wouldn't begrudge anyone else the ability to get it in a more timely fashion because that would be asinine.)Personally, if the Celestial set needs to be released in some way to all players and not just T9 VIPs, I'd say just open it up via Reward Points, but make it accessible to all tiers of players. Let it still cost three points, just let people who aren't T9 VIPs buy it. That way, it still costs Reward Points, it's still in the Paragon Rewards programme, and the people who didn't have status when this was released are given a shot at it.
As for the other issue, it already exists with various consumables and the upcoming Super Packs. -
