thank you for the All Access! Even though I've been a paying player since launch... not having access to any boards because I don't pay now has really sucked

Anyhow. For many years the devs told us that certain costume pieces couldn't be given to use because they just couldn't make them. But with recent costume packs it's clear these restrictions have been overcome. So there's no more excuses. Maybe plans are already in motion to give us more amazing costume pieces

My first vote is for proper loin cloths.

You mean like the ones in the Barbarian pack? Or some other type of loincloths I'm unaware of?

I wouldn't hold my breath; chances are we'll get that sometime after the Hassidic Jew costume set. And for the same reasons.

A loincloth and furry underwear aren't the same thing.

Generally when people have asked for loincloths in the past, they've been looking for something flowing, possibly using cape-style physics. Which would cause serious clipping issues with the characters' legs.

I tried to find a photo to post as an example, but they all make me worry I'll be banned from the forums. Instead how about these?

Other example

(Yes, they're safe for work.)

You mean like Sister Airlia and the Sister Solaris and her sybils? The devs have nixed the idea. Too many capes on one model.

Specifically, too many capes on players. It's alright with a few NPCs here and there, but opening up the possibility to all players potentially means a lot more server load.

That's not really an accurate statement.

The developers have never said "Well, we just can't do it."

Lack of certain costume pieces has always come down to one of the following: potential clipping issues, insufficient return on development time and costs, increased server load (see above), technical limitations due to how the player character skeletons are set up (set number of attachment nodes, inability to have simultaneous different upper and lower body rigs, etc.), or another non-trivial technical issue.

Positron: "There are no bugs [in City of Heroes], just varying degrees of features."

That female Gunslinger piece shows that one waist cape is fine and thus something like Sister Solaris' loincloth should be possible at the very least.

Sister Solaris's loincloth is the same as Sister Airlia's in a different shape/color; it's two capes (one for the crotch flap and one for the butt flap). The devs have nixed it.

Ah, well, the pic only seems to show a front cloth.

In any case, a flowing loincloth in the front OR the back should obviously be fine. With a short, non-flowing piece on the opposite side.

Exactly!

NPCs can get away with it, the same way the Circle of Thorns has been able to have long robes since day one -- but they don't use powersets with, say, high kicks like Martial Arts.

Personally, I'd rather have two auras like Anti-Matter than two capes like Sister Solaris anyway.

And Arachnos widows have had butt-capes for a while now. Plus that's really all a trenchcoat tail or the trailing part of the magic bolero are. One "cape" works, whether it's on the shoulders, the waist, or the head (like the bridal veil). Two don't. If nothing else, they'd clip with each other.

The word you're looking for is "breechclout."

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.

Heck, at this point, I'd be happy to have the Circle of Thorns skirt, minus the side skirts. With a bit less detailing.

Your idea would work for me too.

I'll be happy for anything flowing or static that covers the crotch that's not long pants or a female-only skirt.

Tunics, togas, breech/loin cloths, thigh-long jackets, extra wide sashes, more battle skirts, and finally, male shorts. Especially pieces that are attached to the jacket, chest, chest detail, or belt node that covers the crotch.

And a feather shoulder harness and grass socks would be nice, too.
