Quote:I've caught a lot of flak off and on as someone who 'hates the game' due to some of my negative opinions on certain aspects of it, and while I wouldn't go so far as to say "excellence" or "impressive" (substitute "adequacy" and "decent") I pretty much agree with the quoted assessment. This doesn't mean that I agree with everything that the devs have done nor do I like every aspect of this game. But I like enough of it to keep paying a monthly sub, and I don't expect anything less than to be delighted with Going Rogue and issue 18. So, in sum, I trust that Paragon Studios will continue the same level of excellence that has kept me as a paying customer. I care not whether or not the servers are powered by hamsters and the developers design their models with etch-a-sketches. It's the finished product that counts, and it's generally been impressive for 6 years.

Quote:Six of one and a half dozen of the other. Which is to say that only crazy people would do things they don't enjoy to entertain themselves, lest we forget that this is a game and its purpose is entertainment.Based on what you're saying in the rest of your post, it doesn't sound like it's inaccessible to you. Instead, it sounds like you choose to make little and/or marginal use of it, because you don't enjoy it.
Quote:Then why should anyone heed your comments on the workings of a market system?
I do think supply/demand needs to be ironed out a bit, but I doubt it ever will be, and thus whenever I go to look for lesser recipes that by all rights should be abundant and cheap the supply will be practically nonexistant. And I suppose Nethergoat will look out from the top of his trillion-Prestige high-rise single-owner base that he made by converting Influence/Infamy and say that everything is peachy keen. That's more along the lines of what I expect, anway. And I say that with a bemused smirk and no trace of bitterness (beyond my own natural daily bitterness content). -
Quote:I've never seen a crafting system or player market that was fun to deal with. I prefer fixed price stores of inexhaustible supply and somewhat reasonable prices (in standard currency rather than some ridiculously sparse Token currency accrued in miniscule amounts compared to prices by doing the most time-consuming and generally least fun tasks). I would've preferred such here with crafting and recipe/salvage drops simply being a potentially faster way to get the enhancements (and probably the *only* way to get purple enhancements). The market is a necessity when they added the crafting system with the assumption that there are players who enjoy crafting and would like to sell those items to other players.
But I don't expect that it will change to what I'd consider a more reasonable system. It's firmly entrenched and largely inaccessible to me (even moreso now than it was awhile back when I actually managed to mostly slot out a character with sets) and likely to remain that way (or become even worse). And my wistful musings and not-particularly-serious grumblings on the matter are just as likely not to change. -
Perhaps a zone should be put into a state of emergency when a Giant Monster attacks, with buildings, trains, and highways being sealed off. That might give heroes in the area incentive to take it out.
-
I tend to be disappointed that it doesn't have a lesser movement toggle rather than Flurry or Hasten. Or that Hasten doesn't at least have a run speed boost.

Quote:Presumably. In-game support also went down, or I would've petitioned the issue. As-is I'm relying on hope and the little info gleaned from my thread in the Tech Support section.Really? That...makes little sense (how it's set up, not what you're saying). They do come back when the store opens again, right?
I definitely agree that the whole set-up doesn't seem very sensible. I've never run into it before (probably because I play so irregularly), but judging by the responses I got it's a somewhat common issue. -
I've only used a Global Channel once - I joined a Giant Monster hunting channel. It didn't prove to be very helpful, but keeping up with yet another line of chat proved to be a bit annoying.

I thought that's what she meant. It's certainly what I meant. I had open extra slots that had already been placed on Virtue, but they were locked/unavailable today apparently because the store was down.
-
I generally don't like to Exemplar more than five levels below my current level. And I have only used my second build on one character - my Soldier of Arachnos - because soloing was proving to be difficult for my Crab build so I made a second build using the Bane powers for solo play.
-
I know, right? It's crazy how people expect their entertainment to be enjoyable without tedious toil. People should learn from Sisyphus - there's a guy who knows how to have fun.

If I'm looking for a team (and I usually am) my flag is usually set to ye olde white circle. I almost never get AE invites. I sometimes get TF invites which I will politely decline if I don't think it's likely I'll be around long enough to finish (or if it's too far under my level and I don't feel like undergoing the frustrating and pointless loss of powers).

This came as an unpleasant surprise to me as well. I was all set to make a new character and I suddenly had no space. I thought maybe the senility was kicking in so I deleted a relatively new character that I wasn't really enamored with and immediately had another Unavailable slot.
Posting on the Tech Support forum got me the info about the store being down affecting character slots. It seems like a terribly flawed way to do things to me. -
Haven't they upgraded you to a Twittest account, yet, Marcian?
I don't follow Twitter, myself, but any useful information you have that makes it to the boards will certainly be welcome. (Any useless information will, of course, be soundly mocked and derided.)

Quote:I've often pondered the viability of it, but for such market regulation to even have a chance all other avenues of trading would have to be cut off. I think there's the teeniest possibility that such removal would be upsetting to some few players. So I was wondering, how many people do you think actually believe that this is a viable method for the market to work?
Other things I've pondered:
Getting rid of specific salvage needs for recipes. Instead recipes would call for so many units of common, uncommon or rare magic/tech salvage.
Removing level from non-purple IO sets. Instead, such enhancements would give bonuses based on character level.
Becoming a bonafide deity, starting a religion/cult, and brainwashing Nethergoat and/or Fury Flechette into tithing me Influence.
But I labour under no illusion that these pipe dreams are the magic bullet that would "fix the market" and open up IO sets as a feasible option for a casual player such as me. -
-
I don't post my builds simply because they're not worth sharing. I never specifically follow (or ask for) posted builds, either, though I may become interested in heretofore unseen possibilities of power combinations. And I rarely even get to a point where I can mess with IO sets in any way that's not theoretical due to their exorbitant costs and/or lack of availability.

Quote:That's a pretty flawed system. And I believe the in-game message listed the store as one of the services being unavailable all day. Ah well. When the Store site is down or the server can't contact the Store site, any slots above the base slots will show this behavior.
You just have to wait until the store is available to access those slots. Usually the downtime is short unless they've got an extended maintenance session going on. -
And, of course, according to the message that pops up on log-in the in-game support is unavailable all day.
-
I logged in to make a character, thinking I had a few slots open. But the open slots I should have had said "Unavailable". So I delete a character and the slot where that character was says "Unavailable" as well. Anyone else had a similar issue?

That's because his landing counts as an attack which suppresses his travel power, so he switches to Combat Jumping real quick and proceeds to SMASH. Because Hulk just want to be left alone so his travel power will un-suppress.

Quote:This is pretty much my take, though I don't have a dozen characters to switch from redside to blueside. Any new villain-ATs I make will be made in Praetoria so as to avoid redside altogether. I have one Demon MM sitting at level 20 ready to do side-switching missions, and I may bring over my VEAT and a Fire/Pain Corruptor as well. I'm hoping to make a new Dominator in Praetoria, and probably a Stalker as well. Whatever I end up making, I'm just happy to have the ATs available to play in an environment I want to play them in.I'll be one of those few. Heroes I'll continue to make in Paragon. Villains however will be made in Praetoria, and if GR lives up to only half my hopes I'll be making more villains. I never really enjoyed the content redside.
Edit: Actually I'm going to be more interested in doing the side-switching first when GR goes live than starting new characters. I'm gonna be moving almost a dozen characters over to blueside. -
Quote:Was his real name Ar-Dent?The level of detail that goes into the set-up is high. The prose is good. But it is as odd as a child being sent by his parents from their dying, exploding planet to Earth, where he is taken in by an older farm couple, etc., etc., and becomes Sandwich Maker Guy.

Quote:Were this in place I might actually find it somewhat worthwhile to take Clear Mind on an Empath.Suggestion: Color Code Team Member's HP bars
As of right now if you have the team-window open everybody's health is displayed.
Simply add a color-changing code to the HP bar. If somebody's mezzed, the bar turns from green to say... purple. There we go: even if you are in the simple HP bar mode, you can still see when somebody is mezzed. -
