An eminently forgettable episode.

Quote:Ah, well, I think many people do that sort of thing, though not necessarily with character creation. For instance, despite loathing seafood and having yet to find a dish incorporating it that I can stomach, if someone offers a sample of a seafood dish I haven't tried I might go for it. If I didn't do things like that I would never have discovered that I've begun to enjoy numerous vegetables that I used to hate. It's rational to create more of what we like. But is it irrational to create more of what you DON'T like in search of a way to like it?
Human nature, I'd say, is at war with itself. On one side we have natural human curiosity that drives us to create and try new things, and on the other we have a stubborn streak that tends to make us set in our ways (or, potentially, the ways of our forefathers, though that goes beyond the scope of this discussion). I think that time usually makes a victor of the latter, but the struggle is common enough on multiple fronts. -

Quote:It had great characters, decent action, nice art and animation, great music, and interesting episodes. And it got to the point and ended pretty quickly. What is it you fans like about Cowboy Bebop?
I watched the entire series (not the movie though, had no idea one existed) and found the entire thing to be so boring...
Each episode was pretty much stand-alone with no overall plot until the very end of the series. The entire show was literally filled with "filler" episodes.
Most of the time when people are complaining about filler, it's in an anime that goes on for hundreds of episodes and the often lengthy filler interrupts the ongoing story. -

Does it matter? If a red name came in and confirmed that villain population was significantly lower, would it really make a difference? Chances are that the side who likes it the way it is would still insist that it's fine the way it is. Suddenly it would be *better* to have a lower population, and someone would inevitably link an essay, study, or statistics that show people tend to prefer to play heroes so a lower redside population is inevitable.

Quote:The reactor is mildly annoying, but I've never been on a successful "treespec." After several horrible failures, I stopped joining them altogether. I assumed that all villain TFs would be similarly more annoying than the hero's (which already tend to be more trouble than they're worth in my experience) and avoided all other redside TFs while I was playing there.people were pulling down 13 minute treespecs compared to heroes left running around circles for an hour in the Reactor for their Trial to end.
Right now I'm looking forward to I21 which will allow me to avoid Red and Yellow zones altogether (though I may make a trip to First Ward from time to time) as a matter of course. -
Quote:Character creation for me tends to be wildly whim-driven. And the characters I create vary in depth and seriousness (and staying power). As someone who has made uncountable characters in numerous RPGs both as a player and a GM over the years, many of which embodied one concept or another that I nominally despise, I find my aesthetic comfort zone for playable character concepts to be quite vast. I do not think there are any aesthetic character creation choices in this game that would fall outside that comfort zone.Let's stick to character creation for the moment, though, just to narrow the topic and give it a point. When making new characters, do you find yourself drawn to what you already know you like, sticking to themes you're familiar with or are you - like me - compelled to test the unknown and sometimes even uncomfortable in search for that next new "like?"
Mechanical choices, on the other hand, have been a stumbling block for me. Those have a raw, direct effect on "fun" for me. I have trouble making a Traps character even if I come up with a concept for one, simply because I dislike playing the set. If I have a concept for a character that regenerates I will inevitably pick Willpower over Regeneration (if Instant Healing were still a toggle, it'd be a tougher choice). If I have a concept that begs for a control set, once I21 comes out I'll probably make a Dominator rather than a Controller. And if I have a villain concept I'll probably ignore it, not because I dislike playing as villains but rather because I dislike the Redside environment.
Comfort zone aside, there are aesthetic (and mechanical, for that matter) choices that I often gravitate to as a matter of personal style. I like to make old men, robots, and monsters. And when I make non-monsterfied/robotic female characters I tend to increase their Physique and Waist sliders - I guess I prefer a more Renaissance/Rubenesque figure. But these are not set-in-stone predilections, just tendencies. -
I want different things that fall within the arbitrarily-determined comfort zone of familiarity.

Quote:I would have. And would still find it far more entertaining than the alternatives. Then why make it even easier? How many new players are just going to go looking for glints randomly versus finding out what badges are, finding out there's an entire list with exact locations available, then finding out that they can download map mods to make finding the exact locations double easy?

When Issue 21 goes live you may be able to purchase it in the Paragon Market.

Quote:With their current visibility, it's not so much a matter of finding them as accidentally stumbling across them with a 'hey, what did I just get a badge for?'.Don't be a silly ninny... half the fun is finding them. They don't need to have neon signs pointing to them or the soon to be ubiquitous coins. Besides, if you're a Vet player you a) already a have their location memorized by heart or b) have Vidiotmaps installed.
Your suggestion would deprive newbs of the exhilaration* of finding an exploration badge on their own. So, no.
Personally, while I wouldn't want the spinning coins hovering over them, I'd like them to glint like a shiny object from afar to catch the attention of my inner jackdaw. -
I really dislike the redesign. The costume works better with the trunks breaking it up in the middle.
-
So if the game runs on Server-corns, does that mean they have to find a virginal intern who can approach the server and reset it when it crashes?
-
I'm pretty comfortable with the current reaction speed the game generally demands of me.

Quote:Their old body transforms into their new body. Basically, they macro their resurrection power with a costume change. So when they do the Regen or Renewal thing are they jumping into somebody elses body, who was already walking around and had a life, or do they just appear fully formed in a new body out of nowhere?

Hilarious, and easy to find on google with +"captain planet" +"funny or die"

Quote:I also rather liked End of Time.An outlier opinion, then. There's rarely uniformity in matters of taste.
I liked Colin Baker's Doctor, craziness, garish outfit, and all. Peter Davison's was my least favourite Doctor.Quote:On the other hand, the Sixth Doctor, basically everyone's least favorite, was supposed to have some kind of psychological breakdown during his regeneration, one of producer Jonathan Nathan-Turner's worst ideas. -

Quote:Time Lords regenerate into new bodies when their old one expires (or, occasionally, when they just feel like changing or are otherwise forced into it). This is the same Doctor, and if the one you recently saw is the newest one, it is number 11.1. Who is this Dr. And is he supposed to be the same guy as before, or an all new Time Lord
The newest Doctor is currently in his second season.Quote:2. How many seasons have there been with this new (to me) guy and should I get the first one on DVD?
The Doctor you saw was number 4, Tom Baker. There's all sorts of information on Wikipedia.Quote:3. Is there a good website that would list any important history stuff between the old (long scarf) Dr. I remember and this guy, if they are supposed to be different people.
Since Tom Baker, there's been Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sly McCoy, the guy in the Fox TV movie, Christopher Eccleston, and David Tennant. The newest Doctor is played by Matt Smith. Before Tom Baker there was Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton, and William Hartnell.Quote:4. I know there have been several Dr.s since the show started, how many have been between this guy in the episode I mentioned, and the one I remember from my youth (long scarf guy)?
You're probably talking about Leela. She was only in episodes with Tom Baker's Doctor.Quote:5. There was a hot "warrior" chick in the one I remember from way back. Is she in any more of them? I remember her being really cool. Wore leather and was pretty badass. -
I would probably put it in the base torso options, myself. They might add specific duplicate muscular options to the Tights section (and related sections in Jackets/Robes), but for Tops w/Skin the whole category would need to be duplicated so it would make more sense to me to just add a Muscular Tops w/Skin category.
