I love this idea
I've completely got your back with this idea Rapthorn, I'm a great fan of the dark sets and even though a dark/dark defender is pretty satisfying in terms of soft control it would be nice to see a dark themed set that specialised in control! I did a similar thread ages ago for some ideas on dark and sand control sets for dominators based on the villains Ghost Widow and Scirrico, linky:

Happy New Year Defiant
Lots of huggles to fellow friends and everyone else!
P.S When did you get back Trax?!?! Welcome back matey -
Cool thanks for the advice! Hehe I wasn't expecting too much especially seeing as Duel Blades hasn't been out too long
I think I'll try out a few builds on Mids first before I dive right in but sounds like this could be an interesting combo!

If I see you ingame the best I can do is come and leec *cough* watch and see where we can cut fight durations and maintain taunt control etc.

Ha well your very welcome to when I eventually get the courage to start leveling the poor dudeI have to agree though, I think I did put the sets together for more a concept thing but still should be rather interesting to implement

WEAKEN is my advice from blades. It has made a big difference since I picked up that combo. Blades are very end heavy though, and I dont plan to take the whole set. I also want sweep. Am basically looking to get damage mitigation from the blades rather than damage as they seem quite poor on that front.

Sounds like a good plan! I think this sounds like a good route to go down... didn't realise Blades were end heavy though so makes me think that consume and healing flames are must haves
Cheers! -
Righty I think it is about time I break away from my comfort zone of Defenders and Controllers! I wasn't quite sure what AT to play, plus I really wanted something as challenging as playing my Defenders and Controllers. After to speaking to a few close friendies online I think I'm ready to give being a Tanker a go! I've decided to choose Fiery Aura and Duel Blades for my first Tanker
Not sure if this is going to be a good choice for my first defensive/melee toon but thats all part of the fun eh?
Anyhow I was wondering if anyone out there with Tanker experience or just general knowledge of the sets could give me some advice on Fire/Blades either through tips or some sample builds! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks -
Hadn't seen anyone else post it so gratz to Sinergy X on his 4th lvl 50 toon! Well done matey

I'm fairly busy that weekend but depending on how I feel I'm happy to help out and be there to mass rez alongside a TA
-
Wooooooooo go make one! It is very very slow to start with but once you hit 20+ you'll be loving it! So much to do both in terms of controlling and buffing your team makes this a really fun combo
Enjoy!

A defender should never be taking the alpha.
[/ QUOTE ]
Damn it, how else are Rad/rads meant to get their kicks......... or did you just mean TAs? I know a couple of Darkies that like to be in there first too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, sorry. I meant the non-Darks & Rads really.
My Dark/Sonics loves opening combat too. Mmmm. Fearsome Stare and Darkest Night followed by Tar Patch and start singing at them.
[ QUOTE ]
It's quite useful for a defender, who doesn't have controls for damage mitigation.
[/ QUOTE ]
This was what I felt with Poison too. Although I changed my tune slightly with EBs, it could be useful for a controller vs them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fearsome Stare is rather shiny for opening combatLove it!

Never noticed it, never needed it.
It's completely and utterly useless and that's that, sorry
[/ QUOTE ]
100% agree, I have never once have noticed it and if somehow the endurance discount was big on vigilance often the team gets healed too quickly for you to take effect of it. Silly damn auto power! -
I have an Ill/Sonic and it works nicely in zone PvP and can benefit in team PvP (although nothing like a mind/ff)
The mez resist bubble is always handy too
Have to agree with DB though, illusion doesn't see to work well in duels so maybe if your want to head down that route then fire or ice is your thing! Ice/Rad makes me shiver for sure :S -
The -rech effects of Psi works really well with many of TA's debuffs and obviously the damage on Psi Blast is also really good
Unfortunately you can't set Oil Slick ablaze with any of the Psi powers but if you take the Magic Origin then Apprentice Charm works, or you could take Power Mastery or Elec Mastery as they would both work too -
Vanguard Energy Claws please
